I’m with you! I’ll never go back to weekly washing.🌺 And girl, you RUclips natralistas have finally convinced me to put down the comb. I haven’t used one since December 2023 and so far, so good! But the one thing I regret is watching this stylist on RUclips blow dry and flat iron her client’s hair over and over again. Their hair would look so good and silky! I started thinking I could do that to my hair and not incur damage. Girl, about 8 months later, my hair was so dry, brittle and damaged! 😩 I had to chop off a significant amount. The little I had left was only saved with castor oil. So for me, watching healthy hair practices is what I need to keep in my line of sight on a regular basis. I know what my hair can handle…direct heat is not one of them! 😅
100%! After ditching relaxers, I was a straight natural from 2006 to 2021. My hair was dry, super short, suffered severe breakage, bald patches, no edges or kitchen. My hair looked homeless. Of course I didn’t know how to take care of it. I can honestly say I’ll never flat iron my hair again. Now my hair is so beautiful. I treat her like the queen she is. 🤩
I’m in my sixties. I’ve always loved natural hair. I’ll never again use a perm. I realize that I was using permanent parts because it just came naturally to do this. The younger generation has more knowledge in managing their hair, especially type 4C. It amazes me to listen to you because I’ve experienced it all. Manage your hair well now because later “menopause” can change the hair in negative ways. Excellent channel!
Glycerin changed the game for me too! Although it's only been a couple of months since I began using it my hair has improved tremendously. It was the missing link ! Thanks for sharing Coily Diaries.💜😊🌹
Thank you for the glycerin idea, my end were always splitting and had single strand knots which kept me at one length all the time. Now I’m seeing progress, less splits and knots and that can only mean eventually more length.
Honesty hour: I commented on one of your videos before, raving about going three months without washing my hair with no issues. That was a huge mistake on my part, as it turns out. My hair has never been that tangled, that shed-prone and dry. My sculp was itchy, oily and inflamed all the time from only using leave-ins to moisturise, and not fully washing my hair for so long. I went back to weekly washing a month ago, using finger detangling and the permanent parting system to make the process easier, and could immediately tell the difference. My hair is more manageable, softer and my sculp is much happier (itching, dandruff and inflamation is gone). Weekly washing works for me, and I'm never going back. Wonderfully informative and entertaining video as usual. Thank you.

I remember putting the comb down for 2 years. In the beginning It was all good but overtime the tangles and the knots catch up with me. If someone wants to do it, it’s your hair. It’s your right to experiment. Now I detangle my hair with a comb weekly. Over 10 years of trying to get buddy crack hair length, I learn to find a balance. Washing weekly is extreme for 4 C hair. Also washing it after 3 months is another kind of extreme. Not using comb at all is extreme. Using it daily is another type of extreme. With proper technique using medium section of moisturized hair (not wet hair), weekly or biweekly hair combing should be okey. Do not give up ladies on the hair journey.
@etoilemerveilleuse3459. Green Beauty hasn’t used a comb in 5 years. Naturally Nica stopped using a comb in 2011. I use Glycerin in the colder months by adding it to my DC and in the warmer months to my hydrating spritz. It works wonders. Thanks again for sharing your hydration method which I use weekly on my daughter"s hair. Gamechanger
I have done multiple big chops. What has it taught me, I am not my hair nor is it a God to me. My mom had cancer, I cut off my hair in solidarity and have helped her grow it back even though it wasn’t ever the same. I don’t think I will have a melt down if I lost it all. I have seen fabulous people with low and bald hair. Also these set backs are a blessing it has lead me to where I am today.
I thoroughly love your videos and your transparency. ❤ It’s the glycerin for me. At the start of my journey, my hair was unhealthy and hated glycerin. Then I became a product junkie looking for glycerin free products. 🙄 Now my healthy hair craves the glycerin for the added softness and moisture my hair deserves. Depending on the humidity though, I live in Tennessee. 😆
Using g the glycerin is 😂amazing 👏. I have been trying to grow my nails . I thought if it helps my hair, maybe it will help my nails. Well, it does! I put the glycerin in my lotions, and it keeps my nails from being dry and cracking. 💯 Thanks , You have helped me so much. I'm a 70 year old gray natural. God bless you
I currently have 33 braids which I'm switching from braids to 3strand twists (braids really do hold onto that hydration!) each 2-3 months. Can do mini to micro twists too without reparting which is great! Something else that's helping physically, taking time mentally to adjust is not over detangling my hair. I never wear it straight, rarely blowdry, do search and snip vs cuttibg my hair, and don't use any styling products for my hairstyles, so there's no need for my hair to be thoroughly detangled.
I don't recycle parts as eventually the hairs around will start to thin out. I change them every wash day. I keep forgetting to use the glycerin, will use it next time, fingers crossed.
I don't like recycling parts but it's been inadvertently happening over the last year or so since I keep going with the same basic quadrants and it does make things easier I must admit. Two things I will never do again are 1. Use sun-in. That definitely contributed to some major damage. Now I get salon highlights only. And 2. Not trimming. Splits don't bother me too much, but the knots the problem. If I don't stay on top of them, they just create more knots until the ends of my hair are unsalvageable. S&D has really been helping me out.
Great information- I’m using the glycerin, essential oils, chebe spray & Jamaica black castor oil with plaits. I would to see a picture of the lady whose kept the same parts for 10 years or name. This is amazing and I have never heard of anyone or realized possible, lol. It makes me wonder does she ever get a silk press. My hair loves these products. I have experience the greasy pillowcases but working on keeping it from getting onto it. It’s ok because I love my hair, want even longer hair. I will do necessary steps.
I am so glad I found this video! My hair is so dry and I think it’s from no butter and no oil 😢 I was thinking about cutting it off. Now after seeing your Video I am hoping I can get it back to good health hair.My hair is bra strap length. Started getting trim every 3 months.

My biggest mistake was listening to high school friends and getting my hair relaxed. Previous to that my hair was easy for me to care for because all I knew was natural hair. That relaxed stuff lasted 6 months before cutting it off. I enjoyed it being short and knew it would grow back. Outside of that, I feel blessed to not have any other problems with my hair, until Dec 2022 when I was diagnosed with CCCA. At this point, it is just a matter of following the routine my dermatologist recommended that keeps the scalp inflammation under control, and my hair still grows. Initially, I was worried that I would no longer have long hair and would have bald patches but thankfully that has not proven to be true.
