  • This review is of my only Invicta watch. If you can get past the unfortunate size and weight, or if you prefer very large, very heavy watches, then this beautiful, solidly-constructed piece might be the diver for you.

    I'm not sure exactly "why" you would buy a watch "you" consider too big, then create an almost entirely critical video of the Grand Diver. There is a huge market out there that likes the big size time pieces, Invicta in particular. What's "tacky" to you is becoming to others. Your video was a kind of "back-handed" compliment to a watch you don't like, but bought, and yes, I made it through the entire video.

      RESPONSE / CHANNEL SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - TROLLS SHOULD READ IN FULL BEFORE COMMENTING: Yeah, you nailed it there... clearly I bought, kept, routinely wear, and also took time to make a video largely praising, a watch that I "don't like". There's simply no other logical conclusion... apart from every other conclusion you could possibly have come to. Scrolling through the comments would show you that you have misinterpreted the video, even by the standards of people who strongly disliked it. Read the comments from all the Grand Diver fans who liked the review. They're right. You're wrong. You missed my glowing comments on the build quality, finishing, overall aesthetics... on and on ad infinitum. Only possible if you're actively trying. You heard what you wanted to hear. Several people have disliked my stance on the size/weight, but even those people have not tried to claim that the video was 'almost entirely critical'. If I "don't like" a watch, as you claim, I certainly won't explicitly say that I 'love' the watch, and yet I used the word 'love' many times in this video. Accurately. I have hundreds of watches, plenty of them costing many times the price of this one, and yet this is easily one of my ten favourite watches. I wear it at least once every two weeks, it keeps many watches out of the rotation entirely.
      I have explained at length in the comments that, when I did emphasize the issue with the size/weight, I did so as a matter of 'reviewers integrity' if you like - because the video would otherwise have merely been a misleading fluff piece focusing only on the numerous things that I absolutely love about the watch, and which I clearly stated in the video make it more than worth putting up with the size and weight. WORTH IT FOR ME, PERSONALLY. Not everyone would make the same decision as I would, and so I chose to make the video that would inform all of my viewers in a balanced way, rather than the one that would placate you personally. I'm not disingenuous or dishonest, I don't say things I don't believe, mince words, or do anything in a 'backhanded' way, as you claim. The proof is that if any of those things were actually true about me, I would give you a backhanded compliment as a response, instead of telling you that your behavior in reaching out to someone you don't know from Adam, to tell that person that you think they are disingenuous, is childish attention-seeking, dishonest in itself, and something that anyone who had an upbringing would never do. This is the problem with today's internet - commenting enables the inner maladjusted ten year-old in too many people. Go out into the street, show the first hundred people you run into your comment, and ask them if saying stuff like that to someone you've never even met is how an even remotely well-balanced person would use his time. This channel is a place for sincerity. If you're a subscriber, please unsubscribe and leave. I wouldn't have responded at all, but I needed an appropriate response to pin at the top of these comments, so that people like you stop commenting and cluttering up this space with rubbish. I want viewers to be able to get straight to the honest comments, whether those be positive or vitriolic, without having to wading through spin and nonsense. I've never deleted a comment on any of my videos, however negative, but I'm going to make exceptions for obvious trolls from now on. Any future comments from you will be deleted, as will similar junk from any source, on any of my videos. ANYONE READING THIS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT HONEST CRITICAL COMMENTS WILL NOT BE DELETED, AND ARE ENCOURAGED, NO MATTER HOW NEGATIVE THEY MAY BE. ONLY JUNK TROLLING COMMENTS LIKE THE ABOVE WILL BE DELETED.

      Hi Ragnar. I have a feeling we'll have to agree to disagree on this, but here goes: encountering all sorts of ill-manners, abuse and insincerity is part and parcel of life in general, and not just internet use. Absolutely nothing about that fact precludes me from calling these things what they are, or explaining to the person doing them the error of his or her ways. I would no more leave youtube to avoid these things than I would refuse to leave my house in case some yob yelled abuse at me in the street. Now, you seem to believe that the original comment was merely an honest dissenting opinion. Fair enough! I can't get there. If it counts for anything, I would offer two points of interest, for context. One is that I have made quite a few videos, and there is only one that ended up with all sorts of undeniably vitriolic comments and occasionally (in my opinion, deservedly) harsh replies to those comments attached to that video. This one. I have learned that the word 'Invicta' simply attracts hate and nonsense, regardless of one's position on the brand. You are perfectly entitled to disagree with me that the original comment here represents the worst of that type of feedback, but no-one could deny that the comment section is full of such.
      The other point I would raise is that scrolling through the comments on this video, and certainly my others, would provide many examples of neutral or even welcoming or gently humerous replies on my part to genuinely well-intentioned negative feedback, and so I would suggest that anyone think twice about whether the occasional harsh response to a particular comment was actually representative of an inability to deal with negative feedback, or simply a case of knowing disingenuous comments when I see them, from experience, and responding accordingly. One more point, which I think I made in the original reply: I've never left a critical or insulting comment on a video in my life. If I ever did, I would probably know that I had made my bed, and understand that the forthcoming reply might not be kind. The people trolling this channel are probably less concerned about my replies to them than you are, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it or imagine that it's worth talking about. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, however.
      Best regards,
      Robert

      I guess I’m more confused about if you love or hate this watch? There are times you praise it and sometimes you berate it. This is a big watch but I love big watches so of course I’m going to like this big heavy inexpensive all around great watch including the movement I like your review but am left with confusion on which way the scale tips for you on this piece?

      Thanks for those kind words, objectivity is always my main concern in preparing these videos. And I agree on value. I have owned Rolex and Tudor Pieces, and am never without an Omega of some kind, as well as some of the most inexpensive watches out there, and my perception has always been that entry-level priced watches almost always offer some kind of value above their price point and luxury Swiss pieces are clearly over-priced in objective terms, although we often decide that they are 'worth' the money to us. I have only found mid-range pieces to raise less easily settled questions of value.
      Thanks for watching!

    I wear a 50mm watch the size of a watch is personal preference and you wear what you have become accustomed to wearing. I stated with a 45mm Seiko when I was 12yrs old and now that I have the one mentioned I wouldn't wear a smaller watch simply because to me it would look to small. I bought they one you're reviewing in 47mm for my nephew. Thank you for the review

    Just an amazing watch for the money! I own a Pro Diver as well as my Grand Diver and they both work beautifully, although it does seem as if the Grand Diver is a little more accurate in keeping time. You are correct it is a BIG BOLD watch but if that is what you are into then your truly going to love this watch...as I do. Thanks for your review, as a fellow Grand Diver fan I enjoyed it.

    The grand diver was the 1st automatic I bought 10 years ago. I still wear it as my daily. It's also been down to 175ft so it also works as a dive watch should.
    I have 6 different Invicta watches and 2 no longer work. Both were cheap quarters movements. But all 4 automatics still keep time as well or better than my high-end watches.

    This 3045 came in the mail today. I sized it. You get a lot of watch for the money. Entry level shemntry level this is just a damn nice watch. I like the look and feel of the 47mm case and weight of the steel in the construction. The movement, solid end links, the machined clasp and build quality are impossible to beat at this price. This is my 5th Grand Diver. I have the 3045, 3044, 18160, 27610 and 27611 that I collected over several months for less than $600 USD.

    My 3045 'Grand Diver' INVICTA arrived poorly adjusted. After a 'magic touch' to the racket, I am spinning it between - 1and +1seconds 24 hours. !!!
    Imo the NH35A is the winner among a lot of calibers much more expensives.

      I totally agree. I've never measured my wrists, but do know they're not *LARGE* by anyone's standards, but yeah...I love both the size, AND the weight of the Grand Diver! I enjoy knowing I've got a watch on my wrist. The same holds true for a smartphone...I don't mind the larger ones that have some weight to them. Cheers.

    Thank you for your honest feedback and review of this watch. I happen to own four of the Grand Diver watches in my collection and wear them no less than two times a week. However, I strongly agree with the review and hope that Invicta is listening,

      Thanks David, I really appreciate that. 4 Grand Divers? I would be interested to hear what the differences are, between the ones that you own. The only other one I've considered getting is the one that has the green bezel, but I haven't seen it in person and I can't decide whether I actually like it or not from pictures.
      As to whether Invicta is listening, I doubt it, but it is interesting to note that the (long) history of the company has only recently been dominated by over-sized watches. TGV at the Urban Gentry channel recently reviewed a Pro Diver and covered that interesting fact, and some other historical points, as well as giving a very balanced and fair review - I would highly recommend that video to anyone who (like me) has only a passing familiarity with Invicta.
      Thanks for watching and best regards,

    I've just bought this watch on whim at a duty free store while on holiday recently. There were loads of Invictas on offer but this one caught my for the solid looking construction and simplicity in design. Soon as I picked it up I was hooked. Loved the size and weight and just the general feel of it on my wrist. Also love the fact there is no battery to replace. This has always been the bane of my other dive watches. Mainly Seiko's and the replacement batteries never last as long and very expensive to replace. Hopefully the internal quality matches the external quality which it would appear from reviews it does. For the price point there was nothing else that matched or had the nice solid feel of this watch. So far it's great value for money.

    • @wristwatchreflections7356

      Completely agree, I love quartz and have many quartz pieces, but there are practical liabilities as well as the fact that, for many people, they lack the romance of mechanical watches. Not just the battery changes, but the fact that when quartz breaks, it's usually... broken. I don't like knowing that any problem with my quartz watches is likely to be a fatal one. I suspect that you'll get along just fine with this watch - let me know how it goes!

Funnily enough, the other Invicta that I really like is the Akula that you have - I've been resisting adding it to my list for ages simply because I don't think it would be wearable on my tiny wrists, but it's beautiful, and the submarine connection makes it even more fascinating. I'll probably end up getting it at some point, and just using it as a sort of clock or display piece, rather than a watch. Thanks for commenting!

      Yes, Seiko is an awesome brand, and their divers obviously deserve their reputation. It's the one brand with which you can buy a watch for any purpose, at almost any price point, and always get something to be proud of, if you know what to look for. The only real 'issue' with Seiko is that there are too many to choose between!

    Good review. I've got the black version which I also think is great. I took it off the bracelet which cut a lot of its humongous weight off. I then found it sat too high on a NATO strap, so have now settled on a two-piece leather strap. Its great now on my 7.5 inch wrist.

    I have the model 3049 with the two-tone blue and gold. It is a HEAVY watch, easily the heaviest watch I've ever worn. At the same time, it is STUNNING to look at, so much so that even women notice it and want to see it up close.

    • @wristwatchreflections7356
      @wristwatchreflections7356  7 лет назад +2

      Haha, I was wearing mine today! Yes, it's certainly noticeable, and your blue/gold version probably draws even more attention than this one. The only problem is, every time someone asks me about it or gives a compliment, I remember a great review EDC Gunner did of the Pro Diver, in which he was very fair but did describe it as the watch for you if (and I think I'm quoting accurately) "you want to pick up the wrong kind of ladies in bars". And the Grand Diver is the Pro Diver on steroids and HGH, so that idea makes me a little self-conscious about both the attention and my taste in watches, but I do love it so who cares?

    the way you framed the 'size' issue was excellent because you made it clear it was totally a personal point. as for me, i love the watch for all the reasons you state, i.e. construction, design, etc....however, like many people, the reason i love this watch aside from the classic design IS the size and weight. many people buy it JUST for the size...that is the market for it.

    • @wristwatchreflections7356
      @wristwatchreflections7356  6 лет назад

      Spot on Johnny, thanks for that. As well as it being a purely personal point, anyone who has watched all of my videos would also know that, as a watch lover, I consider being built the way I am to be a bit of a liability, and the people who can get away with wearing huge watches are the lucky ones - so I clearly have no issue with people LIKING huge watches. Don't get me wrong - I'm perfectly happy to be exactly what I am, but it is a bit of a downer that there are so many watches that I like but which I can't wear, because the lugs jut out over the edge of my wrist. Someone who's 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 300 pounds, on the other hand, CAN choose to wear a 33mm watch, and the only issues will be subjective - whether it suits that person, as opposed to whether it physically fits at all. My message to everyone, at the end of the day, is always to buy and wear whatever you personally happen to like!
      Thanks for watching and best regards,
      Robert

    Interesting video on the Grand Diver. I own a Pro Diver(89270B) that I picked up at a thrift store for just under $43. Heard all the dislike about Invicta in general and decided to take a gamble on it. Great watch and Rolex homage! Don't mind the "Invicta" on the side, but as to the Grand Diver,I think that less is more. Having "Invicta" on one side and "Grand Diver" on the other is a lot like turning it into a horological billboard(along with 3 diving suits). The size is big,more than what I'd want on my 6.25" wrist. This is not to say the Gtand Diver is a terrible watch; on the contrary, I started looking at the GD because I liked what Invicta had in the PD....So after looking at the GD,will continue to stay with the PD. I expect it will give me long years of service with few problems.

    I'm late to the "party", but love this GD model (and the size!) & thought your review was spot on. I don't really like most Invictas, which I generally consider too gaudy, too large (50mm+) or overpriced. I got my 16036 for just under $100 bucks on a deal site, and the fit & finish, quality of the movement, etc. can't be touched by anything under $300+, IMO.

    The Grand Diver has given several of my upscale pieces a longer life span. Which I appreciate and decided to give Invicta a play. Purchased several about a year ago. The prices are low enough to get carried away and you end up with 30 pieces before your evaluating the watch. Your on a honeymoon since a couple of boxes arrive everyday. When you begin forgetting which case what watch is in. Because you don't put these time pieces in your vault or run to the bank. The winders cost more then the watch which is different but still love the watch. There home and in the way, frankly become a pain in the ass. The honeymoon is over and made several people smile and ended up with 15 pieces. Funny 13 happen to be the Grand Diver. I just picked up a Grand Diver with two rows of Diamonds on the bezel. So just to give some perspective never have I purchased a gold tone Grand Diver only silver and a few black. I'm not sure what to make of this watch. It's like asking did you vote for Trump after fumbling then they say. I didn't vote this time. That's a bunch of non sense but the diamonds generate a lot of interest at dinner. I'm not one that can't take criticism but ones that want to look at the timepiece knowing me they look at me like I have been hanging out on mars. I felt generally unconfortable. The emotions evoked by Invicta are real. I enjoyed your review of the Grand Diver and agree with the name and another name on both sides just sucks. I get enough from the Grand Diver to wear the 47 mm and play with some straps to eliminate weight on a few of them. Going to keep the diamonds and get a hold of myself yes it's an Invicta but it's the Grand Diver! New to this venue to talk time pieces.
    Looking forward to hearing some more reviews from you. Thanks

    The size & weight are bang on perfect for my 7¾" wrist,, I like the Aquanauts on the endinks and I have no issue with the logo either, I believe they've used it as long as or maybe even longer than breitling?? I have the coke version with coin edge bezel, it sits on my watch winder beside a Rolex Seadweller, Kadloo Ocean Date & Seiko 55 Fathoms and it doesn't look out of place.

    I appreciate your honesty in your review. I can’t find a negative thing about this watch EXCEPT,I wish they would have left the divers bell off the bracelet it looks good on the face of the watch but not on the bracelet.i also love the size as I have slightly larger wrist the watch looks much more expensive than it is and keeps excellent time. I think invicta really scored on this one!

    Grand review sir. Pun intended. I've been watch shopping for weeks now and keep coming back to Invicta for some reason. Of course prices are rising on name brands. A LOT of watch for the money it seems even though I deplore a date magnifier, even on a Rolex. I'm around 260 pounds so this just might work. Cheers!

    • @wristwatchreflections7356
      @wristwatchreflections7356  6 лет назад +1

      Much appreciated, I'm sure this one will look just fine on your wrist. I'm with you on the magnifier, and even more so because it always seemed to emphasize the least important information on the dial, for diving purposes. I might be missing something there, but I don't imagine any diver would desperately need to be able to see the date well WHILE diving - but then, I've never dived in my life, so anyone who knows better should feel free to correct me on that. Thanks again, more videos coming soon!

I have to withhold judgement on which I like more as the grand diver is new but I typically prefer larger wstches! Great review!

    There is so much bad rep for Invictas. It's so refreshing to see an articulate and concise review on the watch. Your tone and cadence is what I've been hearing over and over again bashing this watch, and people who like it can't seem to figure out why. Thanks for this, I'm definitely leaning towards buying one after this.
    The thing that bothered me the most about this design was the logos on the band, how visible or noticeable are they to you when wearing the watch? I'm not a fan of the etching on the side of the case either but it feels I'd have to go out of my way to see those features.

    • @wristwatchreflections7356

      Thanks very much Victor, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
      When wearing the watch, I barely notice the engravings on the sides, but that's because (although I'm right-handed) I wear watches on my right hand, which means that the largest engraving, on the crownless side, is facing away from me. The logos on the end links don't bother me so much if I'm looking directly down at the face (for example, when typing) - but if I happen to turn my wrist outwards at all the logo does catch my eye and annoy me.
      Best regards,
      Robert

      Worked out perfect, best purchase I've made in a while. The face is absolutely gorgeous, and you were right, I don't really notice the logos on the links when I look down on it. The size doesn't bother me but the weight is noticeable here and there, I'll probably get used to it.
      My biggest issue is the lume being nonexistent. My previous watch is tritium so I'm used to a really nice glow and there's just no comparison. I'm still really happy about the purchase though, thanks for posting this review. Keep up the great work.

Yes it is large but fits me fine. I have a large wrist and the weight doesn’t bother me. I wear to the beach and fishing on my boat as well. It works well and has been very reliable for me! I only paid $100 brand new and so it is an excellent value. If you are a small guy with a thin wrist you should buy a Pro Diver instead. As a Grand Diver owner, i agree with the tacky judgements….my watch also has a fully polished bracelet that I also consider excessively flashy, so add that to the list….I intend to disassemble the watch and grain the edges of the of the case which I think will refine the garish appearance of the engraving….I will also grain the band, maybe leaving the link centers polished or not to tone down the flash….though I am at at loss as to what to with the embossed aquanauts…I also have a pro diver and both models use the Seiko mh35a movement, so the grand diver’s weight issue is directly related to the absolutely massive case

      Very good points Jeffrey. I would be interested to know if you or anyone in the comments has actually used one for diving. The shower is the closest I ever get. Fairly sure it's not certified in any way, so any real divers are welcome to chime in and say whether they've risked it. I do think that there are much smaller divers and dive-style watches that would come out on top in the legibility stakes as well, which is another reason that i think it's aimed at the desk-diving market you mention, but someone might surprise me.

    Size is good for me but that is one of the reason I love invictas. The usually run big except for the 36-42mm pro divers. A 47mm watch is a bit small to me actually lol. I have 9.5" wrists (comes with being 6'4.5"). Great review tho I enjoyed it greatly! :-)

      Cheers Hal, glad you enjoyed it. I agree - there are certainly more Invictas that I would wear if they fitted me. I would definitely get an Akula, for example. Thanks for commenting!

    Have you ever taken the bracelet off? I have a green one and just can't change the bracelet out for a nato

    • @wristwatchreflections7356
      @wristwatchreflections7356  7 лет назад

      Hi, no I've never taken it off, for two reasons. One is that it's one of the most comfortable bracelets I've experienced, and the other is that I feel the bracelet helps to balance the weight of the watch. The spring bars on mine look easily accessible, so I don't know what would be causing that problem. Sorry I couldn't help!

    Thanks for the review. Picked my Rose Gold dial and bezel with a very small scratch on the bezel off ebay about a month ago for $60. I have the coin edge. The only thing I dont like is the name script on both sides. Using the watch check app for android, it gains about 2 seconds a day. Thats better then some quartz I have. Even my Seiko 5 is only plus 5 seconds a day. Question, I have hacking but don't seem to have hand winding. This sound right?

    • @wristwatchreflections7356
      @wristwatchreflections7356  7 лет назад

      You're welcome, thanks for watching. As to the hand-winding issue, mine is definitely both automatic and hand-winding, but I understand that the Grand Divers have featured different movements - both Seiko and Miyota. The specific movement in mine is the NH35A, which (as I understand it) is basically the Seiko 4R35. It's possible that yours has the earlier NH25, rather than the NH35. As far as I know, that doesn't have hand-winding. If yours has the display case back, you might see these details for the movement printed on the upper left hand side of the rotor.
      Best regards,
      Robert

    I owned an Invicta Grand Diver. For the price it is a nice watch. I have large hands and wrists, and wear a larger watch. In fact if I wear a normal size watch it looks like a child’s watch! The finish is good, the watch looks great in general. It’s heavy. It kept time well, and has a hacking movement. However, the fatal flaw showed up when I tried to use the dive watch as a dive watch. It leaked in less that 20 feet of water. I dried it out and had the back o ring replaced. It leaked again. Finally, when setting the time the stem came out. It is now consigned to the back of my drawer, and I have bought a Revue Thommen.
    If you want a nice large dive style watch, buy it. The Grand Diver does not have a screw down crown, and that is the fatal flaw in its design as an ACTUAL dive watch.

      @@camerarderie5070 I retrieved it from my junk drawer and it in fact does not have a screw crown. There are no threads whatsoever. It also differs in detail from Grand Divers I have seen on RUclips. I wonder if I was shipped a fake Invicta Grand Diver?
      I’ve been a diver for well over 40 years and have owned a number of dive watches.
      BTW, very few people have ever called me an idiot. Perhaps it is the Dunning-Kruger effect at work in your case. Go look it up.

      Wow... No screw I crown... Well you have my sincerest apologies, it's been reported by several users, RUclips clips show clearly how the crown was not in the seated position. Sadly, it appears that you are a victim of a counterfeit item.

      @@edwardfestor8726 I found the YT video I referenced. It's a well explained review, and I went and ordered the silicone grease and 3 way back remover tool, as I have a few watches and would like to check things out, just for the fun of it.
      Anyway, if you're wondering, it is 11 minutes 30 seconds in. The presenter explains how several examples of leakages have occurred. ruclips.net/video/HXCOWOhuLf8/видео.html
      I have owned quite a few dive watches, all have screw-in crowns. My TAG AQUARACER has a double gasket whereby the crown could be not screwed home, but still provide leak protection. 😁

    This watch fits my wrist perfect! But I have really thick wrists. 47 mm is my perfect. 50+ I will admit is just the trend.

    • @wristwatchreflections7356
      @wristwatchreflections7356  7 лет назад

      Thanks for commenting - on balance I think I would rather have thicker wrists like you. There are so many big watches that I like, which I just can't wear and would look ridiculous on me, whereas thick-wristed people could wear a really tiny watch if they wanted to and it wouldn't look that bad - it would just look like the style from the 1950s or before. Also, if thick-wristed people wear small watches it shows more of the strap and bracelet, which is actually my main issue with my wrist size. Even if I wear a 42, not much of the bracelet or strap shows, and I don't like that.

    love the pro diver, but they went waaay overboard on the excessive branding with this model. Less is more. My Pro Diver is flawless and accurate to 2- secs/per day...thank you Seiko. I upgraded mine with a Sapphire crystal. The lume sucks but for $80 what do you want?

      I briefly addressed that in the video, when I mentioned that the pro diver (although outstanding value for the money) is a much inferior watch to the grand diver.

      Wristwatch Reflections It has the sam mechanism and build quality, also same materials. But okay.

    • @wristwatchreflections7356
      @wristwatchreflections7356  6 лет назад

      My understanding is that neither watch features only one particular movement. At the very least, both the Seiko NH35 and NH35A can be found in Grand Divers, while various Pro Diver models have featured movements from more companies than just Seiko. I can't speak to the materials used in the casing etc, but the Pro Divers I have handled have been of a build quality that (while remarkable value for the money) doesn't remotely approach that of the Grand Diver. The water resistance is also different, being 200m (if that even holds true) on the Pro Diver, and 300m on the Grand Diver. At the end of the day, the Pro Diver is Invicta's entry-level watch, and this is not, and there are always reasons for that. Having said that, I can't emphasize enough that the Pro Diver is certainly great value, and I do like it a lot.

      David Topchiev Spot on! I love all the brands you mentioned, but I wear this watch much more than my Omegas. There are many things to recommend fancy Swiss watches, but objective value at retail price will never be one of those things, and the price gouging in servicing is obscene. Great comment!

    Did I Get a newer version or something?
    Differences I note ->
    My case and bracelet are fully polished, yours appears to have brushed sides and bezel.
    Magnification on mine is way more pronounced... 2.5-3x mag for sure, its noticeably larger
    Mine does NOT say "Japan Movt"; mine still has the nh35a movement
    My rotor is this outrageous yellow with black lettering
    I still cant believe the action of the winding and screwdown features. Its so impressive.

      Very interesting, I'm just not familiar enough with the line to know if yours is newer. Mine does indeed have the NH35A, but this is only detailed on the rotor, and (as you point out) it simply says "Japan Movt" on the dial. Is yours identical in every other noticeable way - the same colour scheme, scalloped bezel etc?
      Best regards,
      Robert

      I haven't tried to get the bracelet off - it's one of the few watches I've never felt a need to put on a strap - partly because I like the bracelet so much (comfort-wise), and partly because I think that only an extremely thick strap would suit it - and not a NATO, because that would add even more height to the watch. Still, I'm not surprised that it's tough. I would keep trying, though, if you really want it on a strap - because there's no chance of damaging those solid end links in any real way, and spring bars are easily replaced. Let me know if you do get it done!
