    Awesome video Jody, and thanks for the shout out! Great detail on the pros & cons - for me I have found the lume to be the weakest point for sure, they seem to be outstandingly bad! I had a good laugh when you were describing the bezel grip and trying to turn it... I didn't remember it to be *that* bad :) A pity the timing is off... but I should be able to get it back right with some DIY regulation. Cheers again, Ivan.

      LUME the "Weakest" Point ??? ... Not being a Professional Diver I have Never been in a Life or Death situation that depended on LUME for survival (for which you'd need a $1,000 Diver anyway, not an Invicta) ... For some of us, Lume is Simply "nice" but NEVER a Deal Breaker (like value, quality, or a Chrono complication which I love) ... For those of us who RARELY carry a cell phone, if I find myself in TOTAL DARKNESS with a NEED to tell the time (or to find my Girlfriend) I simply turn on my mini flashlight (other than in enemy territory of course). PS, I mention your excellent "Perth Watch" channel on comments above or below in case you missed them. Have a great one Mate, Major Jim, USMC

      Thanks as always Jim! And thanks for the mention in your other comment as well, most appreciated - this collaboration has been fun and hopefully has been of interest to many viewers too. I have only been scuba diving during the day and not deep enough where the lume matters... in day to day life for me it's mostly waking up in the wee hours of the morning (my youngest is still a baby! :)), looking at the thing on my wrist to tell the time, and then taking note whether the lume performance was good, bad, or in between ;)

      I own the two tone 8927 for over 2 years now. It is a wonderful watch. I like everything about it. So I decided to go for the blue dial Quartz, the 26972. OK 30 dollar less, but a total different watch. Less weight, a terrible quartz movement that is impossible to set. Everything feels thinny and cheap. The minute hand moves back and forth during running...!
      There is so much difference in quality between the NH35A and the Quartz, unbelievable. And also unbelievable that nobody mentioned this in any review of Invicta Pro Divers. Stay away from the Quartz. They are 2 tiers worse then the automatic. They may look similar, but the feel is completely different. The quality of the Quartz movement is below any level.

    The ugly, crazy looking models turned me off for years, but I finally came across the Pro Diver auto in two tone gold. Amazon had a sale, got it for $55.00 US. I wore it for a few months and was surprised at the accuracy of this watch, not having to reset the time even after a few months of wear. Most model Invictas are not for my taste, however the Pro Diver is a winner in every way.

    I have a two tone 8927. The Seiko NH35A movement inside is the most accurate automatic I own and the least expensive as well. I own Seiko watches that were 10 times more expensive and 10 times less accurate. This watch is 1 second slow in 10 day's ..! It blows Rolex, Breitling and Omega COSC certified automatics out of the water for 1% of the price. My bezel is fantastic, my lens is in the center, there is really nothing wrong with it. It's fantastic looking and fantastic performance for less then 80 dollars. Buy 2 in case you loose one, put it away somewhere safe and you don't need another watch for the rest of your life....

    I just got my 9094OB 12 days ago and I have mostly good things to say about this watch. I will say what others have said: it's a terrific watch for the money. Mine is dead accurate (I reference timeanddate.com). Over a 100-hour period it once or twice lost 1 second but regained it, so it's back to being bang on accurate. Over the past 2 days it lost 3 seconds but it regained them so it's spot on again. Might as well be COSC-certified! That NH35A movement is impressive! Amazing what a well-regulated Seiko can do. I even read somewhere that you can't overwind the NH35A because an internal mechanism prevents this. I think I just became a Seiko fan because of Invicta.
    Bracelet is not as solid as a Subbie's of course, but it's got solid links. It feels hollow but for me, it's ok as long as they're solid. Mineral glass and dial bounce reflections from the indices and hands but it's all fine. Lume dies off quickly so yeah that's a weak point but easily forgiveable given I rarely look at my watch in the dark.
    The engraved Invicta name on the side is a nice touch. I don't get why some people hate it. Maybe I just like Invicta which is why having it there is fine by me the same way people stick logos of their favorite companies everywhere.

    I have 4 of the Pro Divers in my collection with the same automatic movement...and have had no problems with any of them. 2 of them are almost 10 years old now...and I keep them in one of my 4 slot watch winders, and they keep pretty darn good time while in the winder. All of mine have the coin edge, which I really prefer. Two of mine are larger than the original 40 mm version, 47 mm's, as I have a 23 cm wrist...which is pretty normal when you are 6'6" and played three years of college football as an offensive lineman. But they do not look over sized when I wear them considering my size....they actually look like the 40 mm version looks on your wrist, @Just One More Watch. One also has 300 m WR, but since I don't do anything more than swim with them on...I have never really tested their WR.
    The most I have paid for any of them has been my latest one, that I paid a few dollars over $100 USD for...but it did come with one of their 3 slot dive cases...which is pretty cool...and a nice bonus.

    Thanks for the honest review. My 1971 Omega Seamaster died so I bought an Invicta Pro Diver. I am pleased. Other than the lack of snobbery value it is serving me equally well to the Omega. I don't expect to get 50 years of service out of this but then again it will not cost me a fortune to do service on it. In 10 years I can pop in a new NH35 movement and a sapphire crystal for far less than the cost of factory service on an Omega. Last I checked service on my Omega was going to cost $1250 USD plus postage plus parts. I am sure on a 1971 it is going to need a lot of parts. BTW complete service at the Swiss factory parts included was under $300 USD in 1988, and they sent me a free Swatch watch when there was a delay. The Omega only cost me $63 new in Switzerland in 1971. I thought $300 service in 1988 was ridiculous.

    I have had a couple of these NH35a Invicta divers for quite a few years and they still work fine. All of the comments in the video review are absolutely correct. For a more amazing bargain, check out the somewhat larger, very light weight, all titanium Invicta pro diver models. I have the model 17018; only the crown and bezel are not titanium. Scratches can be easily removed (except from the crystal) from the titanium and the polished center bracelet links look better when brushed, imo. Great starter watches and a great value!

    My Invicta, logging time since July 24th, has an average of -0.3 s/d (with some positional regulating). It's madness! On the timegrapher it shows a +3 s/d and a terrible 0.9 beat error, but I'm not going to mess around regulating something that is this accurate out of the box!

    I'll hazard a guess that 99.x% of dive watches never go diving. How many people actually ever use the bezel to time anything? For most of us it's there as a fashion statement, so get the bezel you like to look at, because chances are, you'll never use the damn thing.

    • @casualsuede
      @casualsuede 6 лет назад +1

      CamberwellCarrot I have, but I am PADI rated for open water diving. So bezels, strong lumes and a solid bracelet is important to me. I'd never buy this for diving. It looks okay, except for the garish logo on the side.

    • @jamesshives5679
      @jamesshives5679 6 лет назад +12

      CamberwellCarrot Uh, I never dive, but I use my bezel pretty much every day. In fact, alot of people use bezels. That's one of the many reasons that people like them for daily wear, besides the ruggedness and style. Its that extra ability to time your lunch break or your waiting time at a restaurant or the 15 minutes that your frozen pizza is in the oven, or your shower (theres a reason for a dive watch with proper water resistance). Believe me, dive bezels are used all the time. The water resistance is tested all the time. Even when not diving. For example, rain, swimming in the pool, washing the car, taking a shower, washing dishes... you name it. There really isn't any excuse for a bezel this hard to turn. Other watches at lower prices, and many at the same price have good bezel action.

    • @moonlitphantasm
      @moonlitphantasm 6 лет назад +1

      CamberwellCarrot I agree. I do a lot of technical diving where you have backups for your backups. I wear 2 watches as supplements to the computer. With Nitrox and Trimix dives you’re monitoring multiple gases and other variables. I wouldn’t wear an Invicta anywhere nor would I rely on it for anything. Deep Blue has won me over. They look great but more importantly Deep Blue is function over form. The majority are 500m and 1000m water resistant. And the Depthmaster line is a crazy 3000m rating. The lume is incredibly bright. And unlike most everyone else, the entire bezel is lumed and not just a little pip at 12 o-clock.

    I've owned this watch for several years in the two tone gold and silver trim. I wore it most of the time for 4 or 5 years. During this time, I managed to scratch the date magnifier and knock the lume off the rotating bezel. otherwise, the wear and tear, scratching, etc. are all what's to be expected in an inexpensive knock off watch. In use, it's accurate within about 10 seconds per day. I bought it because I wanted a blue sport watch. I didn't buy it because it looked like a Rolex, it was a nice looking automatic watch for $84.00 at the time. I stopped wearing it regularly after the afore mentioned wear and damage, but not just because of that. It is the most commented upon watch I have owned, because most people mistake it for the real thing. That's the main reason I don't wear it so much anymore.

    Great review as always. I really don't get the hate against this brand. Very professional of you to give them a fair shake! Let's all remember that this watch is around $70, and a buyer is certainly getting his money's worth .

    Sometimes I wonder if all the haters on the watch forums are paid for by competing watch companies to sway public opinion about this thing. Seriously for the price and reliability it's really hard to hate the automatic Invictas. Heck some of the bigger more gaudy pieces may not appeal to all but if you like them it's still cool. Sometimes you just have to drown out the haters and wear whatever watch you enjoy with confidence and not generally not give a damn about what people think. After all we watch lovers should never hate or bash on other people's watch choices but respect them instead. This is coming from a proud Citizen fan.

      mugensamurai why is it people automatically dub ones that don’t like something or voice their opinion or facts, haters. There are of course haters, trolls, etc out there. But, a large part of the anti invicta forum guys are ones who owned many of the brand, and have dealt with shoddy build quality and QC, countless lies from the brand and CEO, repairs that never happen and so so so much more.

      I was thinking the same thing... There are some people who strangely go out of their way to hate Invicta... Often time they are running down Invicta and praising Seiko all in the same breath... I suspect some are being paid and some others just can't think for themselves and follow the tribe...

    Great Video. When I started my watch collecting at the beginning of the year I asked for a recommendation for a cheap diving watch because it is all I can afford and I was planning a trip to Bali. On the forum I visited the biggest recommendations were for the MDV-106, the Amphibia and the Invicta Pro Diver. I now have a few Amphibia, an MDV and splashed out on an SKX007. I love them all, they do the job in my price bracket. I was initially scared off from the Invictas due to the amount of hatred, but having watched both Jody and Ivan's videos I am ready to take the plunge, I really really need a blue watch.

    If you look at the pro diver directly from above, the cyclops appears to be a bit low, as do the bezel marks at the 3 and 9 positions. If you look at the watch while wearing it on your wrist, at around a 60 degree angle, everything aligns perfectly.

    Ahoy there Jody. I just bought the black version of this on a rubber dive strap for $52 USD. That's close to the price for just this movement (which is really an unbranded Seiko Caliber 4R36). At one time I owned at least 40 invictas. The one thing I found frustrating is their quality control. Crowns that would come out. Second hands that would fall off. I sold them off and have never looked back. If I want a cheap watch that lasts, I'll buy a Timex.

    There is no way these are truly 200m, I just got a quartz pro diver in a watch lot and put a new battery in it before I sell it and was shocked at the tiny thin o-ring that seals the caseback. It also has a very small plastic movement. On the outside it looks like a reasonable quality watch but when you open it you see how cheap and nasty these things really are. If you want a cheap automatic watch you can wear underwater buy a Vostok Amphibia the way these seal is truly amazing, they also have an acrylic crystal which wont shatter and is easy to polish scratches out of making it a great beater.

    I don't get the Invicta hate, but don't care. I dislike their gaudy looking models too, but the subby styled models both in 40mm & 46mm with coin edged bezels are great values for less than $100 bucks. 200m & 300m WR, decent bracelets & the NH35a mvt is accurate, reliable, hacks & hand winds. I had one of these for almost a year until the hands got all wonky on me. It's too bad really, I had taken quite a liking to the watch and it really bummed me out when it stopped working. The only problem I had with the watch before was the locking clamp on the clasp. It just broke off one day. I replaced it with a Casio duro diver and never looked back.

    Just got my first Invicta submariner homage, Blue 9094, $75 with tax and shipping after watching so many reviews like this. My nitpiks: First watch with a cyclops which I thought was crooked when looking at it off the wrist. But, when I read the date at the normal angle wearing the watch, it's about perfect (and very ledgible even without my glasses). Next, noticed the brushing appeared slightly different on one lug casing until I compared it in direct sunlight, not perfect, but much better dependent on how the light hits it. Lume: not great, but acceptable, was able to read the hands in the dark right out of the box ! I can understand the hate for this watch which I felt of twinge of when I thought about all the extra money spent on my other brand name watches (equivalent or slightly better quality for so much more out of pocket). Final insult, darn thing keeps excellent time for an automatic. Thank you for your review (it's like owning the watch for six months and learning all about it without the purchase).

    Just got the same one in the mail yesterday -- Amazon, customer return. $53. (Have never gone wrong with "Amazon Other Sellers" yet. This still had the wrappings on, plus Prime shipping.) Would have prefered the coin bezel but I think I might grow to like the scalloped one more so it's not an "exact" subby copy -- kind of like if the Submariner and the Seamaster had a kid. Plus it's less bling-y. I think it's a fine piece for the money -- so far. We'll see if it lasts. My only quibble is the bezel needs a wrench to turn it. Very stiff. Don't care. Don't intend to use it. Had a cheap screw down crown years ago that broke after a couple years, so we'll see how durable that is. But after 24 hours -- s' far, s' good. Off to the jewelers to have the bracelet adjusted. Thanks for the vid.

    I agree. I do have an Invicta Subaqua that is a little embarrassing, but my Grand Diver in sunburst dark teak and darker teal-navy bezel looks great, no alignment issues, smooth bezel, 300M, and an NH35A running as well as any auto of my dozen but for the GS spring drive and three ETA 2824-2s. $90. How can one say that's not a great value in a diver that looks good, has great performance, and costs under $100?

  • @jorge23483
    @jorge23483 6 лет назад

    I'm totally accord with the points you've made pal. The problem with the Invicta "homage" models is more a matter of cosmetic details (unfortunately the devil is in the details), the machinery they used inside is certainly of good quality, for someone who wants his first automatic watch and catch one of this is at discount got a very good deal. And certainly one have to be aware this is not a watch for roughly/dive activities, to me is more and every day/work's day watch. Nice review pal👍.

    Dura is good too, but i prefer mechanical. My invicta is keeping very good. I don't have fancy device but when I check it against my casio duro, so little difference I can't tell. The tiny date window is issue for me. To only only on $30.00 for mech movement & a Seiko with handing & hackiing is awesome. Find it more stylist on shark mesh. Funny though, although I don't fellowship with watch snobs, but of the few people that from a distance mistook my homage watch for a Sub. ,was when I was wearing the Casio. Plus I don't borrow other people's prejuidices, so the Invicta name issue or them satisfying earlier fashion demands of Millennials & rappers, I couldn't care less. Simple hack for tight bezel on web is submerge in hot water. Worked for me as well. If you don't like watch name engraved, then don't buy one with the engraving, like Hamilton, squalle and others. Seiko has also made models with their 5 logo on second hand counter balance. Few spit on them for that. But if you don't like it, don't buy a watch with it. Simple.plus all the Seiko mods that people are doing to the Invicta are great!
