I own a lot of watches but I never had an Invicta. I decided to buy a pro-diver about 6 months ago. The one with the higher-beat movement (I forget the exact name of the movement). For under $100 it has been an incredible watch! It looks great and does everything I need it to do. I wear it doing light construction almost every day and it’s held up perfectly. It runs about 3 seconds per day slow. So I usually reset it about every 20 days after it loses one minute. I take it off when I put on other watches to go out but have been finding myself just keeping it on almost 24 hours per day. The only thing wrong with this watch is that it look’s almost exactly like a Rolex Submariner..I’m not sure that’s a problem lol..I’m definitely going to get another pro-diver in a different color. I can’t afford to wear a Rolex everywhere but I can afford to wear a pro-diver. What else can I say? It’s a great watch. Whether or not “nobody takes Invicta seriously” lol.

I hear you dude. You're not wrong on several points. Still, I freaking love Invicta watches and have for quite a while. They're beautiful, they're stylish, they're inexpensive and there's so many models and model variants to choose from its head spinning. And they keep great time for a long time. I've had my Invicta 0393 the longest at 11 years and it still looks great, still gets compliments on a regular and still works beautifully. I recently looked at every 43mm Speedway variant currently available, and it came down to two I liked so much I couldn't decide. So I bought them both, along with a separate $8 Invicta two watch box to keep them in. Total price for two drop dead beautiful Invicta Speedway variants side by side in a custom mint green two watch Invicta box, $155. Dude. Anyone on any budget can do that with Invicta's affordability. I'll probably do the exact same thing with the Pro Diver Scuba, loving that watch in a couple different variants too. My collecting passion is folding pocket knives, and some of the knives in my collection would definitely make someone else say, " you paid HOW much for that knife?" I'm that person when it comes to watches lol. I'd rather carry a premium folding pocket knife than wear a premium watch, to each their own. Really enjoyed your video, thank you!

When I was first getting into watches, I went down the Invicta Pro-Diver route. First, I got a quartz, then an auto. I don't regret it, as I was just learning about watches. As a pool (billiards) player, I think of Invicta in the same terms as pulling a house cue off the wall. It'll do the job until you know what you really like and spend some real money on a custom or high-end production pool cue. Invicta is a like a "tester" watch company, IMO.

This reminds me of the story of Lee Iacocca telling his designers to put a Rolls Royce grill on a Thunderbird. That car was the 1969 Continental Mark III. That grill became a trademark for Lincoln. Some said that Lincoln copied Rolls Royce with the grill. There were differences. The design idea was an homage to Rolls Royce and it worked well for Lincoln. The upright grill was used widely on all cars from the 1910's through the 1930's. So, in effect, Invicta is doing what Lincoln did. And, it works. People like good looking stylush things. The Pro Diver gives homage to the Submariner. But, all classic dive watches share a common design element.

I'm sorry, this is hardly even worth my time here but seriously, Citizen and Bulova and Tissot ALSO MAKE WATCHES that look like Rolex. And there are Hondas that look like Toyotas and Miatas that mimic BMWs and let's not even get into trucks. Are you gonna go on about that, too? Did you just crawl out of a hole, or what? WHO CARES. My husband has a gorgeous watch collection across a multitude of brands. But NOT ONCE has anyone stopped him and said, Oh. that's a Rolex or oh that's an Invicta or that's a Tissot. As another gentleman said on here, basically, watches are fashion. Otherwise, there'd be one model, and everyone would have it. Period. Kinda like assholes, ahem. Watches, wear them right and they'll look good.
On the side of Invicta, of all the brands they have the most innovative and creative watches I've ever seen and keep great time, so I don't know what you're smoking. My husband is a COLLECTOR of beautiful, fun, unusual and different watches. If they were all Rolex we'd be mighty bored. There's really nothing more boring than a Rolex watch. Same case. Different face and maybe stones. Nothing truly amazing going on there except the price tag. One day, hopefully, you'll realize there's more to happiness and value than how much something costs.

To begin with, Invicta actually produces over 4,000 different models of watches each year. Some of which featuring Sellita movements, Seagull tourbillon movements, ect. Homage time piece reproductions are a standard practice throughout the watch making industry, practiced by most all reputable name brands. I guess most Invicta enthusiasts problem would lie with the fact that you only ever critique Invicta's entry level time pieces simply because you don't like the dimensions, or the style of other Invicta models. Every single example you just gave was an entry level invicta time piece that can be purchased for under $100. Comparing a $90 Invicta pro-diver with a $10,000 Rolex sub-mariner is absurd. I would hope for the significant price difference there would be a difference in quality. Realistically is it an even $5000 difference....????? Not even close!!!! You're paying for the name period.

I haven't EVER had the watch serviced and it still keeps very reasonable time all things considered. (-5 minutes over about 7 days). I also have a speedway that I purchased 10 years ago, and it still works with damn near zero time deviation. Yes the gold plating has faded away in some spots, but the watch itself still functions flawlessly. Mind you, over the years I have taken BOTH of these watches into countless swimming pools, and even HOTTUBS and showers (I didn't know you shouldn't do that back then) and they still work great. So, with invicta I see some truly original case details such as the Invicta transatlantic reserve 29750 and 25928, these watches are made for eye appeal and have an original rotation of the dials to display 2 time zones and 2 types of watches.
Chronograph and analog with a unique hand set that is not a copy of any other watch we have been talking about. Definitely made for the WW2 aviation buff, with rivets on the dial adds to the history of aircraft construction.

I don't own an Invicta, but I do like the Invicta 1953. Yes it's another homage to a Rolex, but it looks really good and the build quality is very good for its price point. A Submariner is way, way, way out of most people's reach, both in affordability and accessibility for a new watch. So Invicta does bring some benefits - affordability, accessibility, decent build quality, especially for its price point. Plus, it looks good on the wrist. What's not to like? Unless you actually are a watch snob, in which case you won't like it. But then, that's not about the watch is it! There's a market for this, simply because the market for Rolex and other high-end pieces are out of reach for most. I'm slightly confused why you are comparing Invicta's with Rolex. It's not a particularly useful comparison because they're not comparable as pieces. In looks perhaps they are, but that's where it starts and ends. Is the purchaser of an Invicta at fault because they really like the look, but can't afford a Rolex? I don't think so.

So your point is... the Invicta is a copy of watches at a fraction of the cost??? So I get the same $8K - $10K Rolex for about $100 by a different brand??? And that's a bad thing? And Invicta is not JUST an homage company. They have dozens of unique and original designs that are just as impressive looking as they are performing. This video is as untrue and biased as any I have seen thus far. Shame on you

Let people buy what they want. Everybody is not in love with Rolex, Omega, etc. To me you're paying for a Name (Over priced watches). Back say 10 years ago Invicta had some nice watches (Black diamond Lupa, nice diamond watches). Swiss Made watches. They wasn't Rolex copies. Over the years Invicta has changed strategy to more big watches. Also made in China. I personally stopped buying Invicta watches. Moved to other Swiss companies (a lot besides Rolex). Don't knock a person if they cannot afford a Rolex. I can afford one. But doesn't like them.

      3) I actually wear my Seiko Tuna when I dive
      4) Just because a watch uses a SII NH35 doesn’t mean it’s a good watch. That movement is one of the most common power plants in the watch world, and if you’ve spent any time at all around watches, you’d know a ton of terrible example use that very movement

As someone who is just getting into watches, they seem pretty good for starter watches, staying typically under $200, but you cannot take their website seriously. Every watch has some "Crazy price!" or "Dazzling Deal!" on the listing that makes it seem like a cheap knockoff website, also every watch somehow has a 95 percent markdown, so you can buy a watch for $38 instead of the "original price" of $595 or something. What I also dislike about invicta is their collaborations with Disney/Marvel/Star Wars/etc. If they make "Homage" watches that are supposed to be an affordable almost replica of a $12,000 watch, why would they dishonor the original design by slapping on a disney character on it, with their bogus original price scam, it makes no sense that somebody would pay $595 for a Disney watch. I do like quite a few Invicta watches, and I respect those who see them as a good brand, but I just can't bring myself to take them seriously, I would rather scrape up an extra $50-$100 and buy a used Citizen or a used low end Seiko than buy an Invicta.

Invicta services a segment of the watch market just at Rolex does. No one will be able to argue that Rolex isn’t the superior watch in this comparison. However, Invicta provides a watch similar in appearance that those of less means than the Rolex buyer can afford. I own both and wear the Invicta when going to the beach or other places where I would fear damage to the Rolex. The Rolex comes out for work, business meetings, or social outings. The Time Teller seems to be disturbed that he has paid heavily for his Rolex and yet someone else has paid considerably less for a watch that could be mistaken for his luxury watch. There are several economy makers that use a similar sub design. BTW, some years ago, a horologist told me that the early Rolex submariner design was based on Omega’s design. Over the years it evolved into the watch we admire today. So, in a way it is a copy itself😊.

This rant was 4 years ago; how time flies. If you were to go at it again, you'd have lots of other brands to rant about. Steeldive, Addiesdive, Pagani, SanMartin etc. These all make homage watches, & very good homages, l must say. I like these brands for the quality time pieces & the affordability. I'm amazed at the performance, & yes, they tend to use Seiko movements. But when you can buy an affordable, well-made watch with sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel & solid end link bracelets, why would most watch enthusiast on a budget not buy them? You get the look , also better specs. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't mind accepting that. I do own a few Seiko's, SKX 007, SKX 009 turtle, etc, but a lot of the micro brands I've purchased, puts all my Seiko's to shame, they are better made without the QC issues! I do still enjoy all my Seiko's, I just don't go looking to purchase them anymore.
Each to their own. We like what we like & it's an individual thing.

I had a rolex GMT Master. 1973. $300. AF PX in Turkey. . Yes real one, US mil in Europe made deal with Rolex: truck loads of 2 models, date just, GMT, male, female. One each allowed to a soldier. My civ boss wanted it, gave it to him and went to get another, but could only buy dressy model. Had no interest, wanted GMT for ham and military radio use. Had no idea how valuable they were,. Mine was a "just getting-by" family, could not imagine there were watches that cost that much. Could never afford even a $500 one. But I can afford nicely made Invicta, which I bought many years later, at 65. Got 4 for me, dressy and sporty. Liked them so much, I then got one diver type for my 2 sons and 4 grandkids. Never needs battery , which always seemed to die on Afghan border, rural Turkey, etc. Of my 4 invictas, one is +5 sec or - 5 sec/ day, depending on position. Others stay between +/-12 on cmcl ticker i own. Can always set by shortwave radio with WWV overseas (am Communications officer). Been on scuba dives to 20m and no issue. Very few folks go much below that. Sure I would rather have my GMT Master, but not at the ridiculous prices of today. Almost cost of a new car/truck, ham radio, sailboat, for plain models, and have seen diamond-studded platinum types for $30,000 in Istanbul, often bought by Saudis. For me, food, home, kids to college and meds are higher priority. For those with lots of spare cash, or who are single, they are a great product, for others, an Invicta, Oleg, better Russian and Seiko are fine. Not like cheap chinese knockoffs, truly bad junk in many cases, although some are decent when not frauds. Regarding Russians models, have some neat Russian watches, at great prices ($5 US from Soviet border guard, $10 from soldier in Kazakstan. Still run fine, autos all, and serviced every 8 years. Like tanks. Love watches, just can't afford officially certified Swiss Chonometers. By Gaussian effect, buy 10, one will be nearly perfect. Even in store, if you are regular customer, ask to have 8 or so of a watch type you like set to correct time and put aside, ig they have enough stock. Come back in week and pick the most accurate one. A nice quartz watch will keep better time than a Rolex. But the batt. Dies somewhere remote and you are bavk to a sundial. I travel with both, but auto on wrist. No batt. And love the workmanship of a watch, even moderate cost types.

Ugh, I was starting to come around to this channel then saw this. This is exactly why I disliked this channel a long time ago. You're like 27 yrs old and have probably been collecting watches for maybe 5 yrs and have such strong opinions and snap judgments on brands and watches. Kind of just drinking the coolaid of popular culture. Citizen had watches that look almost identical to Breitlings. Are they and homage watch company that "everyone knows that"? Invicta has TONS of watches not just the pro diver or some other homages. Can we just eliminate the pro diver for a minute? Invicta is more than the pro diver. And they have more regular sizes, not just the gigantic watches. I had to see what all the disgust was about so I bought a couple giant 52 mm watches. I can't wear them but people with bigger wrists can and they're actually built really well and are not homages. I can't fault one thing on the finishing. Not one thing. Also, they make so many new things so frequently I have to admire all the tooling changes probably needed and the creativity they're forced to utilize to constantly offer new product. You have to admire them for expanding their empire as well by acquiring Glycine. I can't really hate on any brand. I don't like Omega much but I like some models and think they make a great watch. The MOTFM is an old 60's watch. If the design were so great everybody would be making it now. People love it because they hear people say they love it. It's the snobbish Omega owners I don't like and they drag down the brand for me. You're like them. So dismissive. I remember you were all about vintage Rolex and you had your Cartier and thought you knew stuff and looked down on microbrands. Well what do you know you became a micro brand shill to carve out your niche. Just look at your titles. Top 10 this, I HATE that...... Just chill. I will personally send you my giant ugly Zeus Bolt and Venom for you to look at just for the build quality standpoint (they're like watch art, I'd make them a desk clock but not wear them). We're talking build quality here. Look at Boldr which you like or the giant 45.5mm Omega Planet Ocean or Proploff. Put Invicta on the dial and people would hate them. There's no difference between the Boldr Odyssey and a giant Invicta. Invicta makes 200.00 watches. Did you forget that? Doesn't matter what the msrp is. Everybody does that same thing, maybe not to that extreme but you'd have to be an absolute moron not to figure it out. Watch snobs bother the heck out of me. I don't do videos so have to type it out so sorry your channel gets this rant but it's for any blind brand watch hate.

It is very accurate and keeps time well; better than many high dollar timepieces. Besides, if your fashion game is tight, and your presentable, the brand of watch you wear is useless. It is the application of said watch to your outfit, and where you wear them. I used my first bonus to get my first Submariner and you know what? To this day, NO ONE, I mean NO ONE noticed or cared. In fact I have had more complements on my off brand watches than the expensive ones in my collection. So in essence, if you wear it well, no one will take notice. And when I do wear my Rolex's in public I usually am around others who have the same watch or better. Take away is this; wear what you like. Just to be clear, I don't wanna defend nor support Invicta, I just wanna put my opinions on the table: Invicta isn't doing things well as a brand and there's a lot of quality issues in many models indeed, but I own a Pro Diver and it's been an excellent watch for the price -no regrets at all-. I like a lot the Sub design, but I can't spend yet 6K (and I don't know if I ever will) on a pre-owned Rolex Sub from the 90s. So is it so terrible to wear an affordable watch with an expired design from other brand that I like and I cannot afford? I remember an interview with J. Claude Biver (a legend of the high level watch industry) where he was asked about what he thinks about "homages" and fashion watches. He answered something like this: the great manufacturers should be grateful with those watches, because those watches bring the people, at some point, closer to the high level brands and by being worn, they cause interest in getting pieces with more and more quality. It's easier to sell a watch to someone that already has worn one, than to someone who never did.

The Rolex Sub is a great watch by itself. If we look at just the watch as a mechanical item, the Rolex Sub is pretty amazing in its construction. But the fact of the matter is, something else comes with buying an 8 000$ watch. You are not buying just 8000$ worth of watches, you are buying into a smaller group of people, a select group of people who own a Rolex. It's like people with motorcycle; they all wave to each other yet they don't wave to car drivers. Within that group of people with motorcycles, there's even a smaller group which is the guys with the Harley's.
Having a Rolex means you're part of a special group of people, you're part of a club, you're the elite. 8000$ to spend on a watch not everyone can do that and right away you are a little more unique. That's what the people like: feeling unique. Feeling like you're not like the rest of the majority. That's the other thing you get when buying an 8000$ Rolex watch. This is also why it's so offensive when knockoff companies like Invicta make watches that look just like a Rolex Submariner for 100$ because essentially a dude with just 100$ can pretend to be part of the 8000$ elite group. To the guy that spent 8k$ to be part of that group it's offensive that a pretender comes in and cheats his way into this group and that person owning an Invicta will be instantly dealt with rejection.
Your rant is about that. It is about people spending less to pretend to be part of a group that you spent a lot of money to be part of. It is perfectly understandable. You are proud of your watches and it's offensive that someone could be proud of a cheaper knockoff.
The thing to understand is people who buy an Invicta don't buy it to pretend to have a Rolex; they buy it because it looks nice to them and they can afford it. The principle of instead of spending 100$ on a cheap watch you should wait, put money aside and buy an 8000$ watch doesn't apply. The gap is too big. The best way to explain this is that instead of buying an 8000$ Rolex you should wait and buy a 1.2mil Patek.
Nobody is judging you because you have a Rolex instead of a Patek and in that same logic, I don't understand judging people because they have a watch you don't like.
People buying an Invicta are at least buying a watch with a good movement and are not buying an overpriced fashion watch. An Invicta is a good stepping stone into the world of watch collecting that could maybe one day lead these people to buy a Rolex and all you're doing is pooping on them for getting into watch collecting in a way you don't like.
See it like this; an Invicta is a gateway to eventually buy a Rolex and your video is trying to shut the door on that just because it affects your ego.

    • @claytondickson8158
      @claytondickson8158 3 года назад +6

You do have a point of the gap being huge. I say it about replicas too and I don't see why Rolex gets so upset. If you think about it, anyone can get a 200$ rep, but to be the man to get on a list or just get a call to come buy the new, authentic sub makes you so much more special than someone who got a watch that comes from china millions at a time. Its just advertising for Rolex BC the folks who think theyre fooling people cause the real conneseurrs to pull the trigger on getting their sub so they can feel superior in one more situation.

Supporting companies that produce fakes is wrong. That being said, homages in my book are a completely different story in my opinion. I recently purchased the San Martin vintage diver which homages the 1953 rolex not because I wanted to show off I had a rolex but because I love the vintage rolex look. Even if I wanted to buy the real thing, if I could find it on the market even it would be about a 100k I'd say. That is again, if I could find one. That's why I thing homages are acceptable.

It costs about 1/3 of a service of the rolex it 's design is based on, and probably needs less service too (4r35/nh35a is a decent, reliable movement).
If the invicta needs a service, just buy a new one.

@@Synic08 Here's the thing though, I love cheap mechanical watches that punch above their weight. They're a great thing. I own a Breitling Hercules and know what an upper mid price quality watch is like. The difference between a Rolex and this cheap but good watch in the vid is utterly ridiculous. Every aspect of the Rolex is in another league - from the movement to the in house mainspring on many models. The bracelet to the clasp, the way everything is perfect but understated. Is the Rolex worth it? Well probably not and Rolex's in some ways make Breitlings comparative bargains for no good reason.
If you're not a collector a ~$6kish new watch or a $6kish secondhand watch is a once in a lifetime purchase. A nice thing to have. Rolex watches are pretty special although some models do have stupid useless gimmicks. I would say the Rolex's I've handled are special in every way whether they're to my taste or not but the cost is enormous.
More reasonably, I got my Hercules secondhand, damaged for $2500 from a Breitling dealer (I told them I wanted a Hercules and they found one for me. At the time they were out of production for at least 5 years). Anyway I paid them and on the same day they sent it Breitling for a full service and repair and I got them to polish it back to a new watch, change the dial, put a new crystal in it and fix all the damaged parts on the bracelet of which there were many. It came back with a certificate and it all cost $1500 (poss $2k) or so to have it like new - so a $4kish watch 10 years ago. New they were $6k but as mentioned they were well out of production so I was considering a Rolex Milgauss but I couldn't justify the price - even then IIRC the Milgauss was 7 or 9k or something; so double!
In a Rolex the quality is absolutely there but as you point out it certainly is out of proportion to the cost. Breitlings seem to be about proportional to cost which to my mind makes them a less desirable but more obtainable.
IMO your comparison would hold more weight if you were comparing say a $1500 Tissot and a Rolex but I certainly take your point. The reason I say that is I bought my son a Tissot for his 21st and he adores it. It is a very stylish watch with this stainless bracelet with holes in it and the automatic weight has spokes that has holes in it like a Moto-Lita steering wheel. It's an bloody nice watch. The way it has carried wear and tear over the years gives it even more character. My Hercules not so much because it isn't the type of watch that looks good with dings in it as it's a typical somewhat 'overstated' Breitling. I think Rolex's look good with wear and tear because they're understated and have a timeless utilitarian appearence. Some Breitlings like mine just don't age well but still look good I guess - it's a bit showy with all these stupid features I'll never ever use LOL.
The watch in this vid is a nothing watch - neither overstated or understated but it is still great fun for the money.
I'm going to buy one and wear it to work.

There are actually some great brands that put their own spin on the Rolex sub but also do more for QC than Invicta. Squale, C.Ward, Deep Blue, Phoibos, Helm, Borealis, Ocraneva, Gruppo Gamma, Zelos...all are fantastic watches at a fraction of the cost of a Rolex Sub.

I own a Pro Diver 200m Submariner homage. I love it, 75 bucks for a nice watch with a Seiko movement, you can’t go wrong. I find most of their watches atrocious. A lot of them are ridiculously big.

Don't know why you are getting so excited about watches that cost so little. The automatic Pro-Diver is great value, and the Speedway is an attractive 200m WR homage, also at a very good price. Yes, they make some pretty disgusting time pieces, but nobody is being forced to buy them. Finally, let's not forget Invicta have been around longer than Rolex.

I do own a pro diver with a nh35, screw down crown and see through case back. Its 200 meters WR. and is 18k gold plated with a date and cyclops window. I bought this new for $59.
