@@ThePrefectBA You've helped me a lot, also. Just got my first BA job after 10 years of working in mechanical engineering and your videos were very concise and informative, covered 90% of my job interview questions. God bless to anyone and everyone doing this videos!🙌❤
The best video I have seen so far that explains every bit in detail. I watched a lot of videos before watching this one and got really confused. But just after watching this one, I could grasp how to create User Stories really fast and smoothly.
I am an experienced professional. But seeing something like this is very helpful even after so many years of exp. You nailed it. Simple and easy to understand. Visual is the best way to learn/understand any technique.
Great videos !! Thanks a lot . Please do a series for a complete project starting from elicitation till implementation just to understand the real life scenarios for BA Thank you
I just discovered your videos and I have watched 4 in a space of 2hrs plus subscribed because it's simplified and has practical examples. This is very helpful to be because I am a hands on learner myself and get easily distracted with too much explaining without practice🤓
How we should handle exceptional paths in this technique? Do we create a separate User Story Mapping for those cases? like in your example, 1. Handling Payment failure and Re-attempt 2. Handling Order Delay Process 3. Forgot Password 4. Order Cancellation (assume business allows cancellation) 5. Customer Care Enquiry or Dispute Resolution and could be others
Great Work. Very detailed - Please keep up the good work. Highly Appreciated. Do you have a video on the product backlog with an example of the mock product backlog?
Very amazing video and you implemented my request of e-commerce solution.....thanks a ton man..one more request 😅can you make a video about FRD how can we create it from the scratch
Hello, Thanks for watching the video and posting the comment. I provide a simple example so that it is beneficial for everyone watching the video and also help to grasp the underlying concepts. Email to prefectba@gmail.com and we can discuss this further offline.
This is Episode 1. It introduces terms like 'Product Backlog' at 1:28, but doesn't explain what it is. Is there another video in this series that I should be starting with?
The first release here is basically the MVP. However, delivery teams may not have the velocity to ship the entire feature as seen in this case for the first release hence, they have to MoSCoW the stories again until they have story estimate that meets the velocity of the team. The workshop elicitation method is better as it allows stakeholders across different aspect of the project stream to interact and reach a consensus.
Very good video man!...awesome!. So easy to understand and helpful. I'm a new subscriber. Can you please also tell via screenshots of how you perform a sprint and how it is linked here to user stories?..thanks!
Good presentation, but you are a bit to far down in the hierarchy of Jira for this to work properly. What you describe is the BA process on the business side where the story mapping is an excellent tool. This is not the requirement analysis however because the end result of the BA process will be business needs and features, not epics and user stories. A user story can not be larger than 80% or the length of a sprint and I see several user stories that are much bigger than that. That is because they need to be broken down further into smaller parts. If you do not have advanced roadmaps, so you can extend the hierarchy then you could make a sideways hierarchy where you have a business project, but then I would suggest to use different issue types like requirement and feature to replace task and sub-task. Otherwise, you will have confusion over naming very quickly. Overall however this is one of the better videos I have seen of how to best use user story mapping for Jira :)
I personally feel the Payment epic with various user stories for cash, debit card, internet banking, and payment should have all been merged into one user story.
wanted to check if you do pratical session on BA Training i would be interested you people have not mentioned your number any where i have mail you but there is no reply.
To me, those (eg Grouped by Categories, Search by Keyword, Registration, etc, etc) are NOT User Stories; those are features. Several User Stories will be listed under those features.

like in your example,

2. Handling Order Delay Process

I don't think so we include exceptional cases here. We can use different diagram to put them into perspective
Is user story map similar to customer journey maps? Please add a video for customer journey map for business analyst

Hi,
Please refer to this video

Is there an alternative to this technique?
So Visio is a good application to use to record a user story map?
Yes, Visio is a good application to capture the user story map
Thanks for explaining this very cleanly. In which Elicitation method can we use user story mapping and is MVP defined based on user story mapping?
Thanks... user story mapping is done after elicitation. User story map will help to decide on the MVPs
The first release here is basically the MVP.
