- Tony Stewart and Leah Pruett both had the same thought when they knew they were going to be together: sponsors. Tony has partnerships with Ford and Mobil 1, and Leah has partnerships with Dodge and Pennzoil, so what could go wrong? You HAVE to hear this one.

That Uber driver had to be like “WTF? I’m driving Tony Stewart 2 1/2 hours to F’ing bike week!”
I give it a 50/50 shot that the person knew who he was, but if they did then I bet it was a memorable experience because to be the driver doing that trip with those two in the back seat, you know that they didn't just let the driver sit up there and keep to themselves....... It quickly turned into a three person trip I guarantee it lol
The driver was probably a kid without a clue
Of all of Tony's wins, Leah's heart is his biggest win.
You must have meant to say his wallet.
Calm down.
Or her whooha.
I physically cringed reading this.

Poor Ken Block. He passed just a ways down from our family’s property, snowmobiling.
Met Tony at Fontana when he was still racing NASCAR, awesome person.
I have been telling everyone that if you go to a drag race, you get a really up close experience. If NASCAR would try to be more like that they might get back to where they were. NHRA is like no other experience.!!!!!
What a great story about how they met!! ❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰
Dodge and Pennzoil
Ford and Mobil 1
That's so funny!
I describe it Tony and Leah's own private Cold War... at least they didn't butt heads! Imagine if they did!
Great story about one of the Coolest drivers out there.
Damn JR. this was an awesome pod cast , this was eye opening 🇺🇸🫵
Dale's headshake at 6:04....I'm reading his mind.... LMAO
Gonna have to listen to the full episode. This video is such a great interview with Smoke. He and Leah seem to be so solid and I’m so happy for them both.
Great video! That oil situation was hilarious! Racer problems!
Drag racing is just an awesome damn thing to experience. The drivers and crews are just amazing. It is incredible just how accessible the drivers are to fans and how friendly and talkative they are. I'll never forget being a 13 year old kid way back around 1990 and going to the local drag strip to watch the races. One day I was out walking around in the pits and taking photos of race cars. One guy who had a really gorgeous dragster must have caught me standing there staring at his race machine and walked over and struck up a conversation. Before I knew it, I was strapped into the seat of that dragster and he was answering all the questions I had about various race related procedures. After experiencing that, I was a fan for life. Drag racers are the nicest people you could ever want to meet. I mean here was a guy who didn't know me from Adam, who was probably busy between rounds, yet he went out of his way to be nice to me and make me feel welcomed. That kind of thing is common around the drag strip too. This is unique aspect of drag racing you don't see in any other form of motorsports.
I've been to a drag race at the San Antonio Raceway or Alamo City Motoplex whatever they call it these days a few years ago and it was pretty cool... but it was like local drag racing not NHRA sanctioned but I don't remember if SA had NHRA before... there's not a lot of news about it lately I hope that the NHRA will go to the drag strip in the near future and maybe try to get it modernized looking like the other drag strips that the NHRA uses...
@@Mister_Matt_X I think the only place NHRA goes in Texas is Houston. That’s a little far for us, so it’d be nice to have other places too.
@Mister_Matt_X I live up in Central Texas, but we used to race at Alamo Dragway, out on Hwy 16 back in the 70's and 80's. It was AHRA sanctioned. The AHRA Nationals were there every summer. I was a kid and got to rub elbows with Garlits, Snake, Shirley, and the rest. I won the Nationals in 1983. The last year the AHRA sanctioned the track. It became NHRA after that. No national events. But some Division 4 stuff though. Anyhow, we bracket raced there a lot because the joint was packed on a Saturday night with fly boys bused in from the bases and the purse was great. Plus, since we came from over 100 miles away, we got in for free and raced for free.
Years later Todd Zampese built River City Raceway over in Seguin, just off I-10. A really nice track. It's had several owners and names since. It opened as an IHRA track, but has been NHRA as well. IHRA held several national events there. It's way too small for an NHRA event.
Anyhow, lots of great drag racing history in San Antonio. Alamo Dragway's tag line was "Smoke City USA" (A 60's thing)
@marty0063 Houston (Baytown) is closed. It was sold to make way for warehouses.
Before Houston there was (and still is) the Texas Motorplex up in Ennis, which is on Hyw 287 near Dallas. It opened in 1986 as the first modern supertrack. It's all concrete and quick. It was being built as Green Valley Raceway was going out. LOTS of history there.
Anyhow, Billy Meyer who owns the Motorplex and was a star Funny Car racer decided to buy the IHRA. This left the NHRA without a national event in Texas.
The Gay family owned Houston International in Pasadena, but it was outdated and had become a dump. In record time they built the track in Baytown. The first race was fantastic. As were all of the races afterwards.
The IHRA situation was a disaster for Meyer, and he unloaded the sanctioning body and came back into the NHRA fold. The national is there every October.
For the last couple of years Billy has turned the race into a multi weekend festival of sorts.
So very true!
That was Excellent Dale. Smoke (and what he's done) is the Best 👍✔️👌
People dont like Tony, but i have always been a fan of his. Got to start one of his cars at talladega in 1999 when i was 12 yrs old and he was a super nice guy. I believe it was 99. I remember dale sr won and tony crashed out about midway through if the ol' memory is correct lol. Guy is just passionate! How can u not like that
Never disliked him all the way back to when I got into nascar in’93, he just wasn’t a favorite of mine. I am a fan now and have been for a while.
I was raised up on NASCAR, but drag racing is my first love. Smoke comes over to drag racing. Hes like my instant favorite. I haven't sat down and watched a NHRA event in years. Its pure gold. Dale sir, you should hop into a Pro Modified car and have some fun.
There is no way in Hell Amy would agree to Dale Jr. racing a Pro Mod,LOL.
Damn that would be dope!!
@@davidh6818 hell no, cause promods are not something you can jump right into and run a few passes on. Amy would probably let him do it if he wants to. I'm sure it's much safer than his old job, atleast these days it is. But I doubt that Dale has got the time to build a car and go race it on the weekends, cause TV would get in the way.
Would be awesome to have Amy and Leah and Jr. and Tony do a podcast. It would break the internet. Mike could create questions that both couples could answer. The last couple of podcasts with Jr. and Amy have been incredible. It would be tough to schedule but it would be huge.
smoke, jr, and denny should do a podcast together
What would be more awesome is if Tony was in jail for murdering that kid.
@@tedturner9054 you can say it a million more times and it still won't be true.
Now that is a couple that was meant to be together congratulations to both of them
They can both talk about hypergamy and how they were both married to successful dudes and then met more successful dudes and left the original successful dude for the new more successful dude. Now all dale Jr and Tony Stewart have to worry about now is there isn't an even more successful dude that comes around sniffing
I mentioned before about Jr being a project. Tony was running neck and neck. Your wife's are just what you guys needed.
Maybe NASCAR could actually learn something if some NASCAR CEO's went to some NHRA Drags and watched the Fan interaction and how they can basically go anywhere and not have to pay tons more money for it. Like Smoke said, it's a much more laid back atmosphere. Happy that Smoke found his Love in a dragster. Figures.
You ain't lying bout that. Hit the nail right on the head
If Jim France really wanted he could make NASCAR for the fans just like IMSA for fan experience.
Nascar actually used to be that way. I remember going to Nascar races in the late 80s and into the 90s and the fans had great access to the garage and drivers. After a wreck, the teams would pull all of the bent and broken parts off the car and stack them at the corner of the hauler for fans to grab. I still have a bent up fender from Harry Gants Skoal Bandit Oldsmobile hanging up in my shed.
@@user-yp7fx4uo8f Late 60's at Martinsville. they held the drivers meeting at the start/finish line.
I got lucky once when a friend called and asked if I waited to be her photography assistant at MIS for the cup race and jumped on it. We were down in the pits and she was shooting for ARMY getting pitstop action shots during the race. I was blown away by it. You don't realize just how fast those pit crews are until you stand there and see it. And yeah, all those people you see on TV from The King to Tony Stewart even Jr was there walking around. This was in the early 2000's sometime. I'd been to several MIS races, Cup and Indy because it's close but it was a different world walking around the pit boxes and garage. It's an ant colony and everyone is doing some kind of job. Nobody is napping. The problem is just the shear number of people. MIS back then was what,100? 120k people?
When Tony started in NASCAR I never thought to much of him but over the years since that time I see that he really seems like a nice guy all around
Smoke seems like a solid dude.
Just don’t get in his way
Indeed he does
Yeah you won't find much of anyone who will argue with you about smoke ,especially since he was voted one of the top 75 drivers ever in Nascar 😊😅😮😂❤😊
Just don’t race on dirt with him and get him mad, might not make it home that night…….
@@chucknowakowski6676 hey Chuck I've I've seen plenty of races with Tony Stewart in them both on dirt and in the Cup series and he usually races people the same way that they race him I'll agree he's a hard nosed and aggressive driver with the mentality of a dirt track driver on both dirt short tracks and paved tracks in the Cup series but you have to remember no matter what and even though he won't admit it I'm thinking Tony Stewart is like most of the young dirt drivers in that they all seem to have been born with the ability to get into any kind of race car and be more than just fairly competitive and Tony and another dirt track ace (by the name of Jeff Gordon both have said the aggressive driving skills they learned in Sprint cars allowed them to adapt to the comparably big heavy stock cars once they got used to them cause once you figure out what a particular race car can or cannot do then you tend to push it as close to its edge of control as you feel comfortable with,
One of the best podcasts ever!!!!!!! :)
I met Leah at the NHRA event in Phoenix Around 2014 or so. She was very nice and Smoke is right the fans are accessible to the drivers which was cool.
If Earnhardt an Stewart could just buy NASCAR they Could Safe it🐊
The last thing either one of them wants is to own nascar.
@@johnhaas2523Not to mention the cost would be hard for them to get the money.
First time I watched your video
Been NHRA fan for 50+ years
You are doing a good job
Congratulations Leah and Tony 😊 wishing y'all all the best. Nothing like Nitro in the morning, noon and night 😁
How in the world did I not know about this channel? Now I gotta binge watch the whole catalogue!
Great conversation, thanks guys.
Lolol. “She was different then ALL the others.”
said my dick about every woman I ever had
She was single and Tony’s type of wanted Tony’s money.😂
@@ethanweeter2732
Here I was laughing about “ALL”. Lol
@ethanweeter2732 Leah is a race car driver and a World Champion. She's been drag racing since she was a child. She's not exactly poor, though racing is a pretty reliable way of becoming poor.
I'm sure it works because they speak the same language. Oh, and her car makes 12,000 horsepower 8500 pound feet of torque, and goes from 0-330+ mph in 3.7 seconds. So she's a certified bad ass.
@@ethanweeter2732 she wasnt single. She was married when they started talking. 😂
That last part with Tony talking about the atmosphere of drag racing is spot on. Buddy of mine took me and the fiancé to our first drag race last year at Summit here in Ohio. First drag race, first NHRA event :P Was a SUPER cool experience and I definitely want to go again. There's nothing like it in the world. Never got into it watching on TV, but being there is whole different story. And this is coming from someone who grew up at dirt tracks from the age of 3 weeks old
I put my buddy (his first time) on the rope by a Top Fuel team for their warm up with the wind blowing right in his face.... LMAO
Yeah, it was the opposite for me, it was always drag racing. I went to the Oct. race in Phoenix, Nascar, having bought a pit pass thinking I'd have access to the garage and handily got turned around at the gate. I was NOT impressed by that part.
Sooo happy for Tony and Leah! Amazing couple. Little Smokes maybe someday?.....
What I love about Tony Stewart... he's an EXTREMELY competitive human being, and he was super competitive as a driver, but he's also this quiet, unassuming type of guy that you can just have a conversation with. At one point, he was looking to buy my home dirt track and I met him while he was there. He's just the nicest guy, but also very smart (He was asking great questions about the track), and confident and all the other stuff that you need to be where he is today. But under all that, he's just a regular guy and my respect level for him went way, way up after I met him.
He also killed another driver !! Don’t forget that one !!
@@genemaverick5705 And Gene you also went against racing number 1 rule don't get out of your fing car while the track is hot, and also he was a closet pot head and tested pos for thc. And if recall correctly it was a night race and wearing a black helmet and a black firesuit and probably stoned when he got out the car. I think he killed himself. Your a dum bass Gene.
@@genemaverick5705 That drug head should’ve stayed in his car. Don’t leave that bit of information out.

Thank you for the video Knoxville TN.
Awesome story....agree 100% on the drag racing experience
I knew that Tony Stewart would actually connect well with Leah, but who knew it would lead to this, a successful marriage. This is unbelievable and congratulations to Leah Pruett and Tony Stewart. Now Tony Stewart is going to be a father, which is incredible.
She's not pregnant
Having gone to NASCAR and NHRA races, I totally love the access you get at the NHRA events. Beyond getting up close and personal looks at the pro teams, you also get to see how the divisional race teams operate and get up close looks at their equipment.
Great story... Life is always full of surprises and when it comes to that one moment in time. When you have meet someone so special everything else simple does not matter... Congrats to Tony and Mrs Stewart...
The more I know Tony and the longer I’ve known Tony the more I like him. He is a solid dude.
After all these years I'm so happy he finally found the one. She's perfect for him.
If you've never experienced top fuel dragsters when they leave the starting line in a live setting, do it ASAP. There is nothing like it. Anywhere.
wow, totally cool. super respect for you two.
I give it five years at the most and then let dale Jr have a follow-up!
Ken block had them on his RUclips channel when they were out in side by sides. I could tell they were a couple then even though they weren’t broadcasting it.
So romantic.
I agree about fan access. I was a guest of Tony Schumacher up in Colorado, my only drag racing experience, and it was amazing to watch them take down the heads after every run. Got knocked over by John Force 🤩, by accident of course, had great time. Been in NASCAR pits, many times, even in the garage a few times but never collided with any drivers😭. But again NASCAR fans too rowdy🤣 to give them that much access.
Must say also Tony Stewart “you look fabulous “. ❤🦩
Huh?
@gteefxr3094 There are opportunities in the NHRA to take part in a team's hospitality. It's usually done by various sponsors. You are literally in the pits with driver, crew, and the race car.
When I was running a dealership we used to go as guests of Mopar. Fun experience.
Crazy story that says why those two are successful in life. Very driven people 👍👍
Great story! Thanks for the video 😎👍
Tony chased Leah until she caught him.
thanks jr for another great show
Great interview with Smoke!
Happy for Tony 😊
Never did I think I would like TS, but this guy is a class act. I'm a fan now!
Love these guys they keep it real
This was awesome.
The sponsor hurdles were hilarious. Classic Tony Stewart 😂
How Cool Thanks Dale for this
I was a teenager visiting my grandparents during bike week and all I can remember is how loud it was. Lol
One of the best interviews I've ever seen! Loved it
Great Vlog!
The atmosphere he described at drag races reminds me how it is at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Speaking of that, couldn’t help but think of what a great team at that event it would be to see Tony join Dale Jr. and say, Jeff Gordon, to run the Rolex. They are legends at that track and I think would still make a formidable team at that event. Maybe bring in a 4th driver like Scott Dixon to round out the line up. Crazy thought, I know. Just popped into my head watching this.
Always been a huge fan of Tony’s. Seems like a solid dude.
I have been thinking about doing Route 66. I'm not in a position to do it right now but hope too. I have watch one video on it. Parts of it are gone and other once busy highway towns are ghost towns now. There's a still a lot to see . It goes from Chicago to the Sana Monica Pier outside of LA. I actually would like to do a huge tour out to the west coast and site seeing along the way then . go up through Calf. Oregon ,Washington State ,up through BC into Alaska then back down into the Mountain states and then back up into Canada and head to the Maritimes and then down through New England and home in NY .I'm retired so time travel time isn't an issue .
Another great podcast.. Should get Smoke & John Force on together.
Need some beer and leave Mike out. I know Mike basically started the show, but let him sit it out for those 2.
Jr had Force on the show a couple years ago. John has a serious case of attention deficit disorder. He's a hot mess in an interview, but hilarious! Get the Force girls on.

That’s what I like about IMSA racing also. Your ticket let you go anywhere during the event. No extra cost for passes to this section or that section. There are other sanctions that should learn from that.
