UPDATE: I took y'all's suggestions concerning "Fat Momma" and I combed out the weaker loc (which was fully loc'd btw) and divided it amongst it's neighbors (Yes, I did it that quickly). Thank you all for the great advice!
Hello beautiful. Thank you for sharing your process in combining your locs. I was trying to find a video that did not use the crochet method. I appreciate you taking the time in demonstrating step-by-step.
I thought the title said "combing" and I was like dang, she taking them out already??? :( lol glad I just wasn't reading properly. They look great! Tfs
Thanks for sharing this tutorial. I like your method of combining the Locs better. As I am older, and I don't want to be stabbing continuously in my hair with sharp pokers. Just to manage them.
I'm loving your journey! I'll be three years loc'd in December. My suggestion regarding Big Mama is to either comb out and re-part the two you combined to even out the size of both, or combine the struggling loc with the one directly behind it. Your locs change so much over the years that's it's hard to know what the end result will be. Using either of the suggested methods will leave you with greater consistency and more styling options. My concerns is you ending up with one humongous loc in the front and having to comb it out later. I'm no expert, but I've learned a lot from my personal journey. Just something to consider.
Thank you for your suggestions! I was also concerned about having a huge single loc in the front as well. So I went ahead and combed out the struggling loc, split it in half and combined it with two other locs.
That's the same problem I ran into. I started a second set thinking I wanted smaller locs and I had to end up combining half of them. As far as the one you combined in the front, you can comb the one next to it out and wrap the loose hair around the other one or crochet the loose hair into the other loc.
Love your hair, it’s beautiful, I’m a new subscriber! I just started my locs two months ago, my hair seems to be similar to yours. I have a few different textures as well and my hair has began to shape in a bob look. Can’t wait to see more videos. Blessings!
I ended up combining my first two rows. And my back row went from 6 to 3. And since then (I’ll be 3 yrs next mth) I combine whatever needs assistance bc the texture changes as the yrs go back. I used two methods throughout pending the area of my head: -taking the weak loc and threading it through the base of the stronger one. It’ll become a 2 headed dragon (this is good for blending as far as not loc being to thick to bend etc) -two strand twist them together into one solid loc Lovely locs. Thanks for sharing!
Should you twist the Loc’d tightly or loosely. Once you combine your lot do you look on the opposite side to see if it balances. I might have 50 pick locks on one side and then on the other side that I combined I have 30 it looks great. But is it a big deal that both size do not have 50 Locs?
I am currently in the process of combining some of my locs. I originally had micro locs but the strain was too great on some of the locs so I am just waiting for them to fuse so that I can have strong, healthy locs. I have hair that is prone to unraveling so I've begun banding to try to keep the locs as stationary as possible. Good luck on your journey sis.
I have the same issue. I made mine thinner at the front, thicker on top and at the back because I didn’t want thick locs in my face. But my edges are thinning slightly and one has already broke so I might combine too. I’ll be watching your progress to help me decide 😊
You always do great with your hair. I have a question. If or when taking this out how is it done. I have extremely fine hair so attempting this would look bad on me I think. Thank you for sharing, your journey and trials on your loc journey.
I used a rat tail comb and water to comb out my loc from the ends all the way up. It requires patience and understanding that there will be amounts of shedding involved.
Wow. I like your method if you can save your hair instead of cutting it all off, ad I have heard it has to be done in order, to have your hair in it's normal state, not loc-ed anymore. Thank you, Ms. Millicent.💖💐
Is it better to just do your locs bigger or just do them smaller (like the size of your sides) and then combined as needed? I started my locs almost two weeks ago and they’re they size of the side of your head and I’m just concerned about my edges.
It just varies for everyone. Locs of various sizes have worked for many individuals (from sister locs to free form), so sometimes it's just hard to tell just starting off.
No, I did not. My hair was actually cut evenly right before I installed my starter locs. I have several different textures on my sides and back, so the hair hangs differently.
I love how your locs are in an asymetric bob style. Just them being down flipped to either side is just effortlessly beautiful.
Awe, THANK YOU so much!!!!

Thank you Nene!
Loving the locs Millicent! The end of this month makes a year locked for me. Best hair decision I've made. LOVE how yours is growing in a bob style.
Thank you sooo much and here's an early CONGRATULATIONS to your 1 Year Loc Anniversary!

I love the asymmetrical bob look to your locs! I’m enjoying seeing the updates on your journey too! 😍💙
Thank you Linda Lynn!!!

Thank you for the suggestion! I went ahead and redid Fat Momma. I combed out the weaker loc and divided it amongst its neighboring locs.
Beautiful!!!! Simply beautiful ❤️

Thank you for sharing your process Janet! Valuable information. :)
hello! what was your method on combing your locs?
I just lol’d when you said fat mama because I call my bigger locs fat daddy’s 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
I like it I think they look nice

I'm following....your locs remind me of mine
I am currently in the process of combining some of my locs. The same to you as well Love!🙂

As always - TFS. Video suggestion: crochet method for fixing big mama locs😉
We'll see :)

YES, work it, lol🤗😎😍
Your locs are gorgeous,, my hair texture is the same.
Thank you!
Did you previously have a bob hairstyle before starting locs? 🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉 It looks pretty! I like the high-low.
No, I did not. My hair was actually cut evenly right before I installed my starter locs. I have several different textures on my sides and back, so the hair hangs differently.
Your mini twist were never mini in my opinion. They were always rich and full.
Thank you!
