      Happy holidays from the Netherlands!
Hope you and your family are well and i'm looking forward to the projects you'll tackle next year.
About the kei trucks, although it is as flat as pooltable around here your videos still make me wanna buy one. Pretty rare here unfortunately.
      Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark

I absolutely adore these little kei trucks, some day I hope to own one. I've always had the same fear as you that they're more of a novelty but it's good to hear that they have some performance to back them up.

Same as you I have always wanted one, yes they are a great secondary vehicle to have around, I use mine for taking garbage to the dump and hauling lumber and plywood, a full 4x8 sheet of plywood fits good in the bed.
Take care buddy and have a merry Christmas 😊

@@Mikefestiva love these videos! I'm currently in the market for a Honda or Suzuki mini in Washington state. Was wondering where you and your brother went to get his and if you liked the seller? Thanks , Josh

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  2 года назад +1

@@joshpoe Hey Josh I bought mine from a private seller on CL but if I did it over again I would have just bought a stock truck from an importer like my brother did and do a few simple mods to the truck as time went on. Both the Honda and Suzuki’s are good reliable mini trucks.
Here’s a video on my brothers YT channel of going to buy his truck.
The importer is in Portland and I think they are called Motorcycle Warehouse, I suggest you call them and see what they have in stock, they don’t always keep there website current on new stock.
      Here’s my brothers video 👍

If you run them across a scale, they have pretty close to a fifty/fifty front to rear weight distribution. And everything heavy is down low. So they are actually very stable.

In the late 80s I was slater and works for a roofing company with a fleet of these Suzuki carrys and we absolutely hammered them as hard as they would go on any terrain and in 4 years with that company I have no recollection of ever having any them breakdown. Fabulous vehicles if your happy going 45mph.

Best thing I did to mine was the ol Lincoln locker. Goes anywhere, and does donuts on dry pavement. Built an exoskeleton around the cab, more to protect the windshield. Winch mounts/ hitches front and rear. Very handy little truck, hasn’t had an easy life, but really no issues to speak of.
Also, spliced into the front axle solenoid with a switch for low range 2wd. And a skid plate up front, the radiator would pack full of weeds/debris and run hot, the skid plate keeps the stuff from getting in, and still runs cool

As I spend more time driving around in my brothers Honda Acty I realize I think the AWD is better then the 4wd that my Carry has, the Acty feels better in the snow then my Carry. I also find myself putting my Carry into 4WD a lot just to turn around on grass, mud and slippery conditions just because it’s so light in the rear, the Acty is always hooking up and works really well 🙂👍
      Take care

Thanks for sharing Mike! Love my mini truck! I use it a LOT around my farm. And now with the winter getting here, I'll be tossing on my knock off Big Horn tires, lol! I think anyone on the fence about getting these should just get them. They are going to get harder and harder to find and more expensive because of the importing process. While they aren't a SxS replacement, mostly because of how the suspension limits speed and How they don't make that kind of power, they are still awesome with the heated (and sometimes cooled) cab. I also love how quiet they are stock. You almost can't hear them running. If you can do both a SxS and a mini truck, that's the way to go for sure! Hope you had a nice holiday!

Yes the kei trucks are front heavy... but look at most pickup trucks (not suv/sut) they are all nose heavy with 2/3-3/4 of the vehicles weight being on the front axle with only 1/4-1/3 being on the rear axle with no cargo in the bed. As they are designed to nearly balance front to rear when loaded.

    Dear Mike festiva and brother.
👍👌👏 Great video, great environment. Congrats. The micro pickup trucks did exceptionally well. I'm impressed. You are absolutely right, they are not build for being toys. I would be jealous but unfortunately I don't fit in those cars (although my income would fit way better to a micro car than my big car does, sigh).
    2) I guess that the white one would do even better with a moderat lift kit. And yours would still do good enough with not so tall rims and tires on it. It would definitely be quieter too. Your brother's winter tires seem to do just fine and the size suits better for driving on normal roads/freeways than your rough threaded ones.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to all of you.

There is a pretty large movement over here on the east coast to ban these little trucks from being street legal. I haven't seen anything lately about it but it mostly was concerned with the vehicle safety standards. I hope the highway nazis don't ruin it for us who have a need or desire to have one.
    Cheers

Many moons ago, old mechanic I knew had a bedford rascal (similar thing), the rear has a big ass plate to work as a counter weight.
He took it out so he could lift the back of the car into parking spots.

Where do you get your maintenance parts? Can you go to honda or autozone and order off the shelf parts for another car for timing belts, CV axles, brakes etc?

Maybe you can help me Mike. I have the same Suzuki 1990. I put in four wheel drive only the rear wheels spin in the snow. But when I put it in locking diff it works fine all wheels turn. Is that normal.🤔

Are you sure you have Diff lock? I the button on the bash is probably an Axle lock? If so that’s what mine has, it’s a vacuum actuator that couples your front drive line to the front Diff, it’s intended to be used in mixed conditions, you keep the truck in 4WD and can have push button on and off when needed. I think that is what is going on? Let me know if it’s axle lock of Diff lock?

Thanks for getting back to me. It's in two wheel drive you put the lever to 4 wheel drive and it's still in two wheel drive until you push the button. I guess that's the way it works
