  • Enlightenment: What Did Gautama Buddha Realize? Law of Universal Nature and The Surprise of All Humanity.
    #buddha #enlightenment
"When there is this, that is With the arising of this, that arises When this is not, neither is that With the cessation of this, that ceases" - Law of Universal Nature
The concept of dependent origination (paticcasamuppāda) was developed by the spiritual teacher Siddhārtha Gautama who became known as the Buddha upon enlightenment. The Buddha used the concept to explain a causal relationship between worldly experiences and suffering or dukkha of people through everyday life phenomenon. The Buddha’s straight forward teaching was in stark contrast to the practices of society in India at the time where people worshipped ‘sacred’ objects, ‘supernatural’ beings, and performed rites and rituals based on superstitious beliefs. Buddha’s teachings did not contain the mystical or concern itself with metaphysical issues, although he stretched the meanings that people already knew to create new meanings. Others superimposed esoteric teachings after his death. However the presence of the esoteric is part of the poetry of teachings that assists in conveying meaning within the paradigm of human consciousness at the time.
The Buddha’s revelations came at a time when his contemporaries were influenced by astronomy, where the universe was seen and explained as a linear and regular entity, with consciousness separated from the universe and the universe separated from consciousness. This mechanistic view of the world was expounded upon by Descartes, Newton, Weber and later Frederick Taylor in the management arena with influence lasting well into the 20th century. Since the end of the European renaissance the metaphor of science has been that of the machine with the universe being described as ‘grand clockwork’ where the planets spin around the sun in a predictable fashion, described by the precision of mathematics. Science reduced everything to the smallest part in the belief that if one understood the parts one would understand the whole system. Reductionism is the standard of science. This thinking still prevails through the means of how we live and organize ourselves, where organizational charts, job descriptions, policies, strategies, budgets, and operational plans are utilized as a means to control of the organization and environment like a machine. This has been adequate where a stable equilibrium exists, but this itself is only a myth. The predominating theories were observer based where predictable order, stability, separation from the individual, and grounded ‘fixedness’ are the major characteristics.
In contrast, dependent origination presented an alternative view to the world to what Descartes and company espoused. Dependent origination postulated a co-evolutionary interrelated world based on co-dependency, built upon dynamic cause and effect to create aggregate conditions, rather than the accepted ‘Newtonian order’ of existence.
Although the philosophy of dependent origination, which is considered ‘the heart’ of Buddhism, can be applied widely, the Buddha restricted his application of the principles to the development of human nature and explanation of suffering. On metaphysical and matters of the hereafter, he was silent, thus the concepts are very vague for application for other domains. Nevertheless, the concept of dependent origination can be closely aligned with many aspects of quantum mechanics, systems and chaos theory, Darwinian natural selection extrapolated to a cosmic scale, Dawkins views about evolutionary biology, the Gaia hypothesis, and cognitive science. The concept of dependent origination distinguishes Buddhism from religion as according to dependent origination a creator is not necessary in forming the cosmos which has been postulated to evolve through causal dependence in a similar view taken by Hawking and Mlodinow.

Why is Buddhism so expensive? I don't know how it is in India, but here in the States it's ridiculous. Retreats, classes, lectures. I practice at home as best I can, and read used books and meditate. My wife and I can't afford to attend most of the events I mentioned. It seems like modern Buddhism is only available to the elite, and not to ordinary people who just want to deepen their understanding.

@user-iz3ng5sq1m Good point. Most people I regard as genuine don't care for material things. I'm thinking of Ramana Maharshi or Neem Karoli Baba, having nothing on them but a blanket and a bowl. They are Hindu, but they opened my heart to Eastern philosophy and led me to Mahayana.

The Buddha appears in the world to teach, help and transform beings.
Buddha's Teachings help beings to break through delusion and attain awakening, leave sufferings and attain happiness.
Taught beings the truth of life and the universe.
Because the Buddha knew about the sufferings, he can't just let beings continue to be deluded, continue to commit evil deeds and continue suffering.
Buddha hopes all beings can quickly unfold their wisdom.
When our wisdom unfold, and increases every day, every month, every year, the truth of life and our surroundings will be more and more distinct to us.
Definitely day by day we would become happier and happier.
Day by day, we feel more and more serene, relax and comfortable.
It's an indication, and it's telling us we have benefited from the Teachings.
Unfortunately, majority are more superstitious and believing in the truth are few.
If all beings believe in the Buddha's Teachings, practice accordingly to the teachings, each and every beings will transcend the Six Realms and reincarnation forever.
All will become Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

How to you explain, vision where someone (like me) can sometimes, clearly see events weeks before the happen?
How do you explain out-of-body experience, where someone can see their body separated from from their self, which can clearly move around CONSCIOUSLY away from that body? Yes, i had that experience, and I've studied physics and psychology, so l'm not imagining things, since millions of people often experience such metaphysical REALITIES

    • @EgoPodcastenglish
      @EgoPodcastenglish  Месяц назад

Thank you for sharing your experiences, which certainly touch on some profound phenomena that many find intriguing and mystifying. Experiences like precognition (seeing events before they happen) and out-of-body experiences (OBEs) have been reported across cultures and have various interpretations within different intellectual and spiritual frameworks.
From a Buddhist perspective, such phenomena could be viewed through the lens of the mind's capabilities that extend beyond ordinary sensory experiences. Buddhism acknowledges that the mind is a vast and powerful entity capable of transcending the usual physical boundaries imposed by our conventional understanding of space and time. This is often explored in advanced meditation practices where the practitioner can develop abilities or insights that are beyond ordinary perception.
Additionally, the Buddhist concept of "samsara" - the cycle of rebirth and existence - suggests that consciousness is not strictly limited to physical forms and can manifest in various states. This could provide a framework for understanding experiences like OBEs, where the "mind-made body" (manomayakaya) or subtle body, separates from the physical body.
However, Buddhism also cautions against attachment to these experiences, emphasizing that they are not the final goal of spiritual practice but rather signs along the path that should be understood and transcended.
In the realms of physics and psychology, these experiences are often studied under phenomena like "anomalous cognition" or altered states of consciousness, suggesting that our current understanding of the mind and reality is incomplete.
If you're interested in exploring how these experiences relate to Buddhist teachings more deeply or discussing the scientific and psychological theories that attempt to explain them, I would be happy to delve into these topics further. It’s a fascinating intersection of spirituality and science that continues to challenge and expand our understanding of reality.

That's exactly what's been happening to me for 3 decades (after I became an atheist), even with spirits. But i'm pretty lucky to have some friends who are actually sensitives (regardless of their beliefs/religions) mostly for confirmation that I was not crazy, even a non believer has it too to a degree. Imagine the "seeing","smelling", "hearing", "vibrations/touch" and "taste appears just by looking", "energy healing" but fortunately these senses are not open all the time. Then I found Buddhism that can explain the phenomena which is hard to explain/understand, but by examining them through anicca(impermanent), annata(non self/essence), dukkha, and dependent originations. It helps me with my meditation and understanding.
To be honest those abilities are addictive and fascinating, but those are attachments and cravings. If we think the teachings will eliminate them, actually Buddhism will enhance the abilities but with understanding that will make you don't wanna do it freely. Because you understood the reason, the cause and the effects. I can't explain it (it might sound repetitive if I try) since I'm still learning. It is simple though and fun in a different way but not "easy"
