I was eleven. He was something like twenty. Thomas Dolby. I'd seen Ian Curtis. And David Byrne. Enough Brit punk to make me insides churn. Then Dolby stole my heart....
Besides being a great songwriter - which speaks volumes, he was always at the cutting edge of technology. Case in point, this live performance which was from the early 80s. He maximized the synch between the programmed material and the live instruments which was extremely challeging for the time. Always the consummate professional and perfectionist at what he did and it shows!
Though I was very young ,when Thomas Dolby first came out . I've always loved his ,way ahead of his time musical style.... This version is the Best of this song! By far!

I remember being 14-15 years old and not realizing just how gorgeous Thomas Dolby was because he was always hiding his pretty face behind his signature "academic" glasses, but W O W, an accomplished musician and composer and a total hottie
This album is waaay underrated if not totally ignored...Brilliant work...
I've loved this guy's music for decades. "Europa and the pirate twins", "Windpower", "Flying North", anything for me in Thomas Dolby surround sound 🧡
Why is this song the goat
I was eleven. He was something like twenty. Thomas Dolby.
I'd seen Ian Curtis. And David Byrne.
Enough Brit punk to make me insides churn.
Then Dolby stole my heart....
This version is definitely sooooo much better than the album cut.
Also Jesus heck he was gorgeous.
Europa was the first single that I ever bought with my own money ...I still love it to this day :)

Thomas Dolby was a babe geez.
He's not dead 😂
@@gizmo3846 I know lol. I’m just saying he was very attractive back then.
he was promoted to bald bearded daddies
This is back when music videos and live shows weren't a drastic difference in vocal quality.
BEAUTIFUL song 😍
And I must say.. beautiful singer as well ;)
Que versão magnifica! queria poder ouvir ao vivo! Saudações do Brasil!
Reminds me of 1982, when I worked at B-Dry, giant headphones and tape player. Played all cool tunes while I jackhammered and busted my back

I'll walk beside you in the rain Europa
Ta republique
We'll be the Pirate Twins again, Europa

Jeez look at your country now
Love you Thomas! I latched onto your music in the early 80's and I was hooked? Thanks for your vision into the future. 😍

I suggest a counterpoint- the glasses made him even more attractive
This version is at least as good as the recorded version. Obviously faster tempo. Nice!
