In this video I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace the spark plugs on the Nissan Titan. These procedures work for a Nissan Armada and Infiniti Q x56 as well. Nissan recommend you replace the spark plugs on these motors every 105,000 miles. The job overall is not too difficult and requires no special tools for replacement. Just reviewed your video. Dielectric grease does not get applied to metal contacts. Ceramic on the plugs or inside boot.
I changed my plugs last week bought the same NGK plugs and only two were gaped correctly. It’s my opinion u should always check the gaps on new plugs.
Thank you so much for making this video. I had a little trouble reaching the passenger side back plug but with a step stool it worked fine. I used the NGK plugs and got them a Napa for about 12 each. I sure saved a lot of money doing this myself. thanks again. Marlene
Good job overall. I would caution throwing in the plugs into the wells like that. I use a flexible fuel hose and carefully (slowly) start threading in the spark plug. Last thing you want is to cross-thread anything! Luckily there is no firing order and they can be removed/installed any way. I would take a peak at each coil pack with a light to ensure there is no corrosion in them. Ruthenium (NGK) plugs are a good alternative if not replacing the EOM plugs, which now run anywhere from $20 - $25 each.
I just did this today following your video. Thanks! You had me worried when you said you didn’t think there should be a problem pulling the old plugs because the truck was only 5000 miles over due. Mine was 35000 over due and they came right out. Thanks again for the videos. I’m gonna tackle the power steering line and transmission mount next time.

They were dark and crusty. Definitely used but I don’t-know if they were worse than normal as I don’t have any reference to compare them too.

Checking the gap before installing is great, but that step is useless if you throw your plugs into then head as done in the video. You risk closing the gap on your spark plug. Be aware of that!!
Great video. Only thing I would recommend is being more careful while putting the plugs in. You definitely don't want to have that gap close up and having to re-do the job.

These 21 Titan wiring harnesses are really in the way. I have a feeling it wont be as easy as it looks in the video but I'm excited to get into it. I'm only at about 20k miles so i have a little ways to go.
I have a '17 and the harness really is in the way. I'm trying to figure out an easy way for it
Best practice is to stop putting force into the torque wrench as soon as is it clicks. No need to click it twice and definitely don't keep turning after it clicks.
Nissan thought of the owner who would work on this unlike ford and the 4.0 sohc that u need to take the wheels off to get to the back plugs🤣 thankfully a step stool is all thats needed for our titan as its got a 4 inch lift

Do you have any videos for replacing fuel injectors? I have an annoying ticking coming from the injectors or the wire harness. It’s a top engine noise in that area. Thanks for Titan videos! I replaced my starter with your video on starter replacement

Hey Aaron your videos have been a HUGE help in all the work I've done so far on the titan I just bought, but I still have a crank no start. New Fuel Pump(watched your video), Crankshaft Sensor, starter(also watched your video), and now plugs and coil packs(just used this video.) But I can't get it going. Any advice? I've heard the immobilizer but I'm not sure.

Thanks I’m going to do that today I’m not a mechanic but been fixing my truck on my own also I will replace front brakes any idea of why my passenger side caliper get stuck this is the second time the others are good but but front passenger side gets stuck second time please somebody here had same problem

Great video...to the point. @Leo Kennedy/Aaron Hines...I believe it would matter in regards to coil replacement since you did not remove the wiring. You can interchange coils, when the wires are removed. Interchanging coils with wiring attached would affect the firing order, right?!

Good video, use of dielectric Grease and torque wrench shows professionalism. My only comment is that while many plugs come pre gapped...if the plugs are for different applications you may not get your exact correct gap. I check and set gap on every plug excep multi pronged and a few iridium styles that say not to because you can break those little .4 mm electrodes. But good job explaining to an audience that often shouldn't even be working on their cars if the have to see a video on spark plugs 😂

Any particular reason why you didn’t change the coil packs as well?
Coil packs are supposed to last as long as the engine
To only be changed if they show signs of wear
Ignition coils are not maintenance items like spark plugs serpentine belts brake pads windshield wiper blades tires etc.

The individual ignition coils are not a maintenance item.
M-B's are the same...esp. at $100/ea. cylinder.
Wow, can’t believe I pad 700 dollars for this on the XD. They made it sound a lot harder than it was. Need a new gasket, have to tune up for an hour, blah, blah blah
Why 105K miles? My 06 Titan has a little over 60K miles, I think I may need them replaced. That and it's always seemed to be a Lemon.

I wouldn't toss the plug down the he like that. Doesn't take much to close up the gap.
I pulled a plug to check for spark and then gapped it since there was some erosion, installed the plug, but I’m struggling to get the boot back on the end of the plug. It just isn’t going on as easily as they did in the video. Any suggestions?
Check that the spark plug is correctly installed, if so then try twisting the coil left to right while slightly applying downward force to slide that ignition coil boot onto the plug

NGK iridium are real good, If you dont mind the added cost!
Dont know if you still need prices but I got some NGK IX Iridium plugs off RockAuto for around $55-60 after shipping
Why not blow out the spark plug wells before you remove the spark plugs or unscrew them a couple of turns and then blow them out?

Why are you using dielectric grease on the contact of the spark? It will affect conductivity!
Dielectric grease is conductive and prevents corrosion and oxidation and can be used with electrical connections. Do not use regular grease though.
@@TheIrongutz There is actually two types of Dielectric grease. One type is conductive and the other isn't conductive. The conductive dielectric grease is only conductive because it has a metal added to it to make it conductive, a google search will lead you to manufacturers of dielectric grease stating this. I personally would NOT want a conductive dielectric grease since it could spread/smear inside the boot allowing a conductive material to be closer to the end of the boot and make it easier and help create arc tracing and defeat the whole purpose of an insulating boot.
6306260 in order for non conductive dielectric grease to affect the conductivity of the connection would require that a proper/physical connection did not exist to begin with and would only impede an arc, if the connection is correct/proper then there will be a physical connection that the dielectric grease cannot affect. Again a search of many of the manufacturers of dielectric grease will point this out and that it has been proven a myth that dielectric grease will affect conductivity if the connection is right to begin with. On a loose connection yes it will affect it but the connection has already failed by being loose and causing loss of conductivity to begin with.
