My first mission with this mod saw a Wasp run up to one of my mechs, fall over, and have the pilot punch out before I really realized what was happening. Comedy is alive.

i love how Tex keeps talking about how terrible the Assassin is yet it is so far the most successful unit he gotten with how it performed in 1 battle, and in the end he killed his assassin with artillery blast xD
@@eddapultstab2078 i can just imagine the scenario playing out the commander is always talking about how terrible the assassin is for a mech he suddenly had to use an assassin and kept complaining about how it is a piece of shit and will be the death of them all the assassin is performing very well and is killing most of the enemies on it's own commander makes excuses after people start questioning his wisdom assassin comes near the last enemy commander orders artillery on the last enemy despite the friendly assassin nearby causing them both to die thus keeping the record of assassins always ending up destroyed after every deployment he claims valid

4:13 Those pods are based off the real life BattleTech cockpit simulator pods and used BattleTech: Firestorm. Which I believe is modded MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries. They are pretty fun if you can find them, I believe the only place that is open to the public is MechCorps who take their pods to Texas area conventions (and have a location in Houston).

I find it funny that Battletech, A game where mechs are so central to its identity that its alternative name is "Mech Warrior" , is also one of the few mech franchises where tanks and other vehicles not only still exists but are tacitly on par with mechs.
I've always liked the "Dropship Space is a premium" explanation; A Battalion of Tanks would be more Cost Effective than an Single Mech of equivalent value, but transporting that one Mech is WAY easier than an entire Tank Battalion.

What we learned from this is to never let Tex command your artillery. And if you do find yourself in that situation, realize that friendly fire is at least as dangerous as enemy fire.

I imagine most enemies eject simply because they are terrified of your wanton use of artillery, regardless of collateral damage and friendly fire. When faced with such maniacs, I too would consider a different line of employment.
Tex would never sell urbanmechs unless it calls for desperate times call for desperate measures to get bigger stompy mechs to make the most important thing money.
I really want a drop tonnage system based on carry capacity for various dropships. I want to drop 60 MRM urbies on a steiner scout lance and see the carnage.

I'm sure you know this but in 3062 light mechs stack insane evasive points. You need a pilot roster with a lot of them trained in sensor lock to offset it. Otherwise you need to melee them (if you can) to shed some of their evasive. Even then with a pilot skill 10 gunnery and all weapons at 95% I've still missed. The beautiful part is, it was an entire alpha strke that overheated my heavy, a Warhammer. Which blew up the next round from overheating. I just stared at my monitor speechless and dead eyed for several days.
That poor Assassin killed two jenners with rear attacks, and you shot at it with artillery. I think from now on I’m going to associate assassins with unwanted pets
powerful mech: Translation: we are seeing the power signature of a 360 or larger fusion plant, and we assume its a mech and not just a reactor and a pile of scrap on a flatbed.
Tex! You have to learn to use sensor lock to reduce evasion which increases you chances to hit. BTW: Ive got an Urbie IIc with a 250XL engine, that can run like the devil. It has a UAC 5, FCS ADV TC, and BA Handholds. They carry Gnome Batrle Armor into battle. The BA and Mech pilot both have sensor lock. They can together reduce evasion by 4. Or if they have ro fight, they can take down an assault mech in one round by shooting them jn the back. I call them Master Blaster.
Battle Armor is really potent. Get Grenadier when available - the percussion of twin light recoilless when paired with the Advanced SRMs puts opposing Mechs on their backsides (better than sensor lock). Also 4 Armor with sensor locks allows you to take down an early EVA 8 assault.
Don't know if you know this. But BTA has changed melee. You can now shoot ANY weapon in melee, not just support weapons. Minus a few weapons like Sniper cannons and other weapons with AOE and such. If you punch the enemy, your arms are busy, so no arm guns but the torso weapons will light them up. Conversely, if you have any leg weapons, those won't fire during a kick melee. Usually better to leg kick them. Cause it removes all evasion and now they can't dodge your close up shots.
If Tex wasn't so damned funny and such a great story teller, I wouldn't be able to watch this. Some of his "tactical" decisions trigger me hard, but the lols are always worth it. RIP poor Assassin. You lived up to your name and were killed by not so friendly fire for your trouble.
I started watching this play-through again and it hit me: Whisper is the woman I hired to fill in for an injured pilot, who wound up replacing that pilot. She moves one initiative phase early and I rely on her to distract ( and now decapitate) the Big Scary Things before they can act. Whisper proved to be irreplacable when the game started getting really tough. Tex: "Waiting six seconds for you to zoom to safety cuts into my Fiesta Pail time." *dying scream*

I was campaigning had to replace a Atlas LRM 20 with 5 LRM 5s because i had no 20 it worked out i was in a shootout with a highlander and landed almost every missile to his head in 3pt clusters he died.
"I didn't destroy 3 buildings, I destroyed six." I think you destroyed something like eight or nine buildings actually. You may have well just installed LRMs in the urbies. They couldn't hit the broadside of a shutdown ANH this session. Thanks for the witty commentary as the game screws with your head with the disunity engine.

Pricing out tanks vs Mechs is great until you find the rough terrain map, at which point it takes your tanks a month to get anywhere.
For a game about mechs, the tanks sure are doing the heavy lifting!

I've noticed that low level clanner missions have their pilots constantly falling over

I was campaigning had to replace a Atlas LRM 20 with 5 LRM 5s because i had no 20 it worked out i was in a shootout with a highlander and landed almost every missile to his head in 3pt clusters he died.
