this comment brought tears to my eyes. your brother is lucky to have you and you are lucky to have him ! im sure hes so thankful for the love that you show him and will continue to show him !
My coworker has fragile x syndrome it’s like Down syndrome he looks it and talks like it but it’s autism, it’s rare, he’s always like “ Lexi!” And hugs me and shows love he always says I love you and he cracks me up and makes my day😊
I like how he copies your gestures to show he's following along with what you're saying and participating in the conversation in his own way. It's always interesting and enlightening to see how diverse methods of communication can be.
I remember a few years ago, I was walking through a department store and was generally feeling depressed at that time and this guy with down syndrome was walking toward me with his family and as he passed he said "hi five!" and gave me a big high five. It was a small thing but I remember it made me feel a lot better for the rest of the day, and I'm almost positive a "normal" person would never have done that.
I had a similar experience years ago, I was having an off day and a gentleman with Down syndrome approached me and told me I had the coolest tattoos he’s ever seen. It was such a pleasant interaction and truly made my day. It was almost like he knew I needed a good interaction. I’ll never forget it.

Their sweet sibling bond reminds me of my daughter with a complete gene and partial chromosome deletion and her younger typical, extremely bright, athletic sister. My overachiever daughter is always including her sister in everything and motivating her to grow in her development. My older daughter reminds her younger sister to slow down and be happy. They compliment each other. It almost feels like raising twins because they are 17 months apart and the same size. Drew, thank you for sharing your story, it is encouraging.

Shout out to Alex here. As a sibling to a person with a disability who I love to the moon and back, I LOVE that she loves to be known as "Drew's sister". It's often not easy, particularly as a kid when kids at school are dumb and priveliged and don't want to look past first impressions, so I can almost guarantee Alex had it rough at some parts as the "sister". I know I did. But her love and joy radiates out of every damn inch of her, and so I would take one of her against any other 20 friends from school, because she knows what's up People like her are amazing, and as lucky as she is to have an amazing brother like Drew, she should never ever forget that Drew also loves that he has an amazing sister like Alex. Alex may be "Drew's sister", but I'm sure Drew loves that he gets to be known as "Alex's brother."
Thank you so much. This was such a sweet comment and truly made me smile. Being a sibling of someone with a disability is never ‘easy’, but it shaped me to be such a different person than I would’ve been without Drew. Thanks for your support watching our video, SBSK is the best!

This is really awesome. Even though Drew is non-verbal, he can still communicate with him by accommodating a way to let him speak and answer you in his own way. Really, it just to show that talking is just one of the many ways humans can communicate.
Absolutely, a LOT of the communication that goes on when two people are in conversation has nothing to do with the verbal. That is one reason that written text can be misconstrued more easily. If the person talking to you is happy or angry or whatever, there is usually no mistaking it, in person. I've always thought that there should be a symbol for denoting sarcasm, where appropriate, in text. That one is sometimes so easily missed .

My younger sister and I can relate to Alex: being sisters to this wonderful human being is one of the best things that happened to us. She is the reason we became the people we are. Drew and Alex, we wish you the best life you can have.
What a sweet story! Who wouldn't want to be Drew's friend. It was a blessing to see how much his family loves and cares for him.
