    01:10 Our BIGGEST mistake
    06:06 How we solved it
    10:05 What is a BIDET?
    📖 Our Story:
We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls! The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.
Follow our journey as we turn this old stone house into a beautiful home 😊.

Am also 100% in favour of the bidet return ! Hygienic, ecologically sound vs using half a roll of paper in worse case… you just need to have the space for it. So glad the waterproofing issue got solved without impacting the fabulous look of the bathroom. Just a small eco-friendly advice regarding your beautiful fireplace / stove : try to light it upside down : bigger logs at the bottom, then thinner ones, and kindling on top. No paper but just a small wood ships on top to ignite the whole. You will see it works wonder : it smokes less, keeps your front door cleaner. And finally when it’s all over and the window is cold, use a paper cloth, wet it gently, pick some white ashes and rub the whole against the glass…. It dissolves any brownish deposit in seconds.😊 congratulations on your beautiful and cosy home ! Best regards, Pierre

I first saw and used a bidet in Paris when I was there as a young woman. I thought it was ingenious. However, as I lived in the US for most of my life (I am now 76 and was born in the UK), I learned how to maintain intimate hygiene in other ways. Needless to say, I had an entire drawer full of washcloths that could only be used one time before laundry haha. I moved to Italy over a decade ago and I don't know how people can live without a bidet. I use it in many ways. Also, my younger friends, mothers of small children, use the bidet to teach their children to wash their hands after using the toilet, or to wash their hands before eating. For those who are interested in getting a bidet (and yes you can buy them in the US) make sure it's installed next to the toilet and not across the room. Thank you for bringing this topic up as the Americans I know get very embarrassed if the topic is mentioned and say things like "it was used only for prostitutes, I'm not a prostitute" or my favorite "you mean they don't use toilet paper?" OMG! haha.

My favorite video of MAVI. No bidets here in the U.S. but I almost installed one after my stay in Salerno last year. Maddi, you should have been paid by a bidet company for your demonstration and explanation. The BEST I have ever seen, actually the only one I have ever seen. But it was so funny and you were blushing which made it so cute, entertaining, and educational. Thank you for teaching the rest of us. Loved the music as always.

Grazie Maddi! That explanation was very sensibile and sweet at the same time. Being an Italian you didn't have to convince me of course!! A bidet is one of the few really essential objects/equipments in life.
One thing I would like to ask. What is the name of the product you applied to the walls and floor to make them waterproof? Thank you!

@@nerther7625 Bidets are easy to add. They take up very little room and you can jump off from your sink lines so you can have hot water (not too hot). My boyfriend is a journeyman so he can do plumbing, electrical and all sorts of things! Bidets make you feel clean without always having the time to get in the shower. I see more people are installing bidets in new builds but it's not rocket science either.

In all the houses I have lived in in Spain, there has always been a bidet in each bathroom. Showering is very good, but, at most, you do it once or twice a day (depending on the heat or how much you sweat), but, for me, using the bidet is essential (or very convenient) to do it several times a day whenever you use the toilet or need specific cleaning of your intimate areas without having to undress completely to take a shower.

In the future you will encounter the problem of mold. Removing it will also remove some of the waterproof coating. Both of you should be justifiably proud of your accomplishments. Buon pomeriggio!
Qui in Brasile, i bidet erano molto comuni nelle case e negli appartamenti costruiti fino agli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta.
    Bravo!

Until this year the bidet was mandatory in every house in Portugal, it was written in the building rules/code. One bathroom with a bidet and a bathtub, every (new build?) had to have one.

Here in Brazil the bidet was widely used until the 80s (mainly in São Paulo where the largest immigration of Italians in the country occurred), then it simply disappeared and are very rare to find, probably only in old houses. From the 2000s that came the individual showers connected next to the toilet, but still many houses do not have it. Once again congratulations on the video and a kiss for the beautiful couple and a special for my dear "Lobinho" (Caiù)

    Good morning from Vermont USA
where springtime has finally arrived and YES, there is green grass and the snow is mostly all melting away.
I loved this episode about the shower wall plaster finish for waterproofing.
The bidet tutorial was educational yet was unexpected before my morning coffee...LOL.
Thanks for adjusting the color settings on the plaster... love the color!

❤love the colour of the bathroom. So glad you found a waterproofing solution. Thank you also for your presentation on your or the Bidet’s uses. In the “old days” back in the 1980’s, I worked in a hospital that installed bidets in the bathrooms of our post natal wards for new Mums convenience. They were well received once explained🙏🙂

Ho vissuto all’estero diverse volte per lavoro….

When in Italy, I always had to explain to people from the U.S. what a bidet was used for, the women were extremely embarrassed when I explained the necessities. We always referred to it as the Roman sock washer, it was extremely useful for washing socks and underwear in small quantities.

I miss my videt, when I moved from Uruguay to Canada , I found out , there is no such thing as a videt, until now very few Italian houses will introduce it , but nobody else.
In spite of the years , I still miss it. !!!! It's a great invention!!!

My new(old) house did not have room in the bathroom for a bidet and a toilet, or a shower. It was used as a shower room. But we are adding a full bathroom in the house that will have a bidet and a toilet a shower and a bath. I am truly excited about this. Very interesting information regarding the water proofing in your bathroom. I am really sorry you were disappointed about the error. Could have happened to anyone. The tiny bath in my house is on suite to my Bedroom, so it will only have a sink and a toilet. I am looking forward to using some of the methods you have used in your home. I am really pleased with the look and charm of your beautiful home. Bravo Brava Love from Abruzzo, Italy
