I love Preludes, and I’ve test driven a few of them over the years. Problem is finding a clean stock manual VTEC example that isn’t going for outrageous money.

Wew congratulations brother! Good to see you stayed with the Corvette lineup. Sad to see the C4 go but it's great to hear you still have plans for C4 videos. The C6 was a favorite of mine in my later childhood years, as i was always obsessed with each "new Corvette" starting with the C4 and moving onwards.
I always found that one orange paint to look sexy on the C6s with the chrome rims, and maybe I'll be able to complement my 1994 C4 and get my hands on one soon enough--or maybe a C5 because popup headlights!
The C6s might be a bit too much power for my abilities but it's always great to see the Corvette still competing well with the Porsche 911s of its day. That's the beauty of the Corvette!

I installed American Racing headers & high flow cats, and Corsa Sport axle back exhaust.... brought it to a local tuner and when he did the 1st dyno run the engine died and wouldn't restart. Soooo long story short 4 cylinders had low compression, had them pull cylinder heads off and everything looked ok... pulled out a piston and the compression rings were frozen in their grooves. He said he'd never seen this before and I wondered the same thing.
Anyways, I ended up buying a new GM LS3 crate engine that included a "GM Hot Cam" as they call it... just a bit bigger cam in an otherwise stock LS3.

The Fbody will certainly be faster, but also much more of a headache to fix. A lot of major parts are very difficult to get to, and they're not exactly known for their reliability either. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Congratulations on the beautiful car! I have owned a 08 Coupe (Z51, 6MT) for the last decade and it has exceeded all expectations. These cars are meant to be driven and, as noted, they are terrific grand tourers. We use ours for long trips and putting on the miles is fun.
Maintenance has been zero, with just things like tires and a battery replacement along with the usual oil/filter changes but I am setting aside money each year for when a big job needs doing. I check the harmonic balancer every Spring when the car comes out of storage and nothing yet at 65,000 miles but experts tell me if it needs to be changed not to go with another GM unit but one from ATI with a pin so it won't move. Also, the best upgrade I did was to get a padded leather cover for the console--your elbow will thank you! Looks nice when matched with a set including the shifter boot and parking brake boot as well. Also installed a set of LED taillights as I want the car to be seen by traffic.

I had it aligned and the belts changed while they did the balancer, then changed the oil, tranny fluid, and rear diff fluid. It has been perfect. 100% reliable and I have put about 4500 miles on it. Oh, I put a Pioneer stereo with wireless Android Auto so the avionics are completely up to date. What a fun beast! I might do the shifter mod you did, but that's it. Well done, if you are buying, this is what you want to find! Very meticulous and clean indeed. I had no idea that Lemans Blue was a carry over from my C5 Z06. I thought us Commemorative C5 Z06 guys were really special, lol.
I too was torn back before I bought my C5. Do I go C6 or not? Ultimately, they are nearly identical. C6 Z06 was out of my budget. You can't make a bad choice is what I am saying. I never knew how much they share parts until I dug into it.
Congrats again, you made me realize I need to drive mine more. I need to hit the track again too. You NEED to make that part of your plans.

      @RetroCarsForever  Месяц назад +1

Thank you! I was also shocked when doing research for the C5/C6 how similar they are, something like 30 percent of the parts even carried directly over. The only Corvette generation that wasnt a true "clean sheet" redesign...But hey, the C5 was already so good, why mess too much with it?
In any case, your C5 Z06 is beautiful. For some reason most Z06's seem to be yellow, which is pretty cool, but obviously I'm in love with Le Mans Blue!
As for track use...If my car wasn't so nice, I'd track it! But it's TOO nice to be a track rat IMO. I do want to take it to SCCA "cone" course events though, that looks fun and low impact.

@@RetroCarsForever I have to respond about the track thing. My Z06 is absolutely perfect. I almost sold it for a yellow Z06 that was not so perfect. I really wanted to track it. I used to track E85/Turbo Subies and have many years of smiles.
There is no way that I could not track a Z06, right?! Well, last fall I just said screw it and went.
Prior to that I did coilovers, spec endlinks, cryo rotors and hawk pads/steel lines/race fluid, summer extreme Continentals, and Sparco race seats and harnesses.
I was able to keep up with most everything modern at the track except in the straights. These cars are amazing. I will admit, I rode her hard that day.
Should I have bought a lesser Z06? Looking back, heck no! Now I have memories with this one.
They are all worth what we pay, but if we don't ever get to use them then what is the fun? Canyon carving is awesome though, don't get me wrong. But, dipping into a long sweeping curve at 100 mph and trail braking into a corner and hitting an apex spot on while powering out in a Vette, heaven!
Oh, and SCCA/cones, that is harder on a car than a track day. Much more stop and go and pitching and rolling.
But I still say do it!

It's true that the C7 interior quality is quite a bit better than the C6's. I happen to prefer the looks of the C6's exterior, which is cleaner and more "traditional," and the analogue gauges. You're right, most C6 base cars are easily under the 30 grand mark. But not one owner cars with THIS low of miles, plus 6 speed manuals with the Z51 suspension go for a premium too.
