I bought the red convertible you looked at @ 16:00 or so in the video. I was ok with a convertible. You might be interested to know the price went from $27,494 to $18,444. I quickly found out it had the fuel leak issue after I bought it so that means it's more like 20k. But I'm enjoying the car so far and your videos as well ! Local shop specializing in Corvette's said it was in really good shape (fuel issue excluded). Now I need to save up for upgrades (and wish I had the expertise and garage tools to do them).
Wow- why such a big drop in price. How many miles did it have? Did they disclose the fuel leak issue? Glad its fixed now and ready for summer? Bring it over for some mods!
@@Toys4Life 85.4k miles (near same as when you looked). I think they were a touch too high at the start (the ad you saw had a $1998 price drop in it). Claimed manuals harder to sell (not to me!). They did put in a new radiator/brand new tires/etc. I think they got themselves underwater price wise on this one. They have a score of C8s on the lot. Oh hell no they didn't disclose but made sure to tell me "no recall issues" and sign this saying we told you so. Thank you GM for hiding behind the Special Warranty Adjustment. (And it was missing both knobs for the AC ... who doesn't fix THAT after all the other things they DID do) I was under it on the lift and saw nothing. Local car classics mechanic gave it a 2 thumbs up bill of health and test drove it hard. Fuel leak doesn't present until you push gas to the passenger side. Still feels like a good deal even with the pump repair (could they have engineered it to be *more* painful to access?). Local speed shop has done a bunch of them, stocks the parts, does not mark up the parts and $110 labor is very good for here at least. Also 8.5 hours beats GM's 16 hours. Moving up from 350z. 2 extra cylinders MATTER. Love your videos just wish I had the wrench skills (computer guy here). It would be interesting to know what are the low hanging fruit mods (that supercharger you have is *sweeeeet*) but my checkbook says "give me a minute". It is so kind of you to invite me over (but you seem *exactly* like that kind of guy on your videos) Now I'm just south of Tampa, it's winter, are you sure you'd rather not drive down here? Only 1600 miles or so. Your videos are GREAT for non lifetime car guys who want to learn. Greg
My daily is at 210k and doing great lexus is amazing. My vettes at 100k and I truly believe it can last 200k with me beating on it with semi normal maintenance they are amazing
Its insane that in 2020 I bought my C7 with 45k miles 3lt clean title for 31k in August, 2 months later I sold it for 38k thinking I was doing a great deal, now I cannot even buy a C6 with the same mileage for that price. I ended buying a C6 07 automatic with 62k miles for 14,5k as a dealer, just added 500 fee from the dealer I know and 7% taxes. Great deal for a V8 car in very good condition and well maintained. But still looking for a stick transmission.
I have a '10 c6 3lt 6-speed GS Convertible in triple Black, its now got a whopping 13,800 original miles. I'm the 2nd owner & the first owner ordered it new back in 2010. I know him and its history ... i can pretty much guarantee it was babied due to his career choice that he just retired from last year as a Captain in Law Enforcement. Always garaged and serviced at the Chevrolet Dealer it was ordered thru. I'm "sort of" in the process of trying to find a c7 Z06 in Black Rose Metallic. With that color only available in 2017 & early 2018 .... its like finding a needle in a haystack. Especially a convertible, only 63 built in '17 and a mere 12 built in '18.
I got my c5 for 14k with 102k miles auto since I live in Saint Paul MN. My insurance agent told me the car is worth 17k when I got the car and the dealer told me he priced the car low because he wanted to move it faster he also said the car is worth 17k. Maybe I can run into you at a corvette meet , love the videos!!
Generally speaking, I think that's true. That having been said, I think a cat-back always adds value because the damn things cost a grand and there's not much a person can do to wreck the car by installing them. I also think some lighting improvements wouldn't hurt either. But add a camshaft and headers and yeah, that probably turns off a fair number of people.
I think a great Deal.....I had a 2009 Atomic Orange LT3 C6 that I paid 30K for in 2014.....it had long tube headers Billy Boat exhaust tinted top 6 speed manual..... It was one of about 400 of that year....53k on it when I traded it in on a 2016 C7 8 speed automatic...... I wish I still had the C6.....
As you mentioned locality when searching. Are you going to drive/fly to see a car hundreds or thousands of miles away to be disappointed or nearby and either buy and pay a little more for convenience? So many factors but if you do your homework and are patient, you will usually be satisfied. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Lights and exhaust are nice! I just paid about that for my 03 with 60k, but came with two sets of wheels including the factory mags, z06 exhaust as well as the stock one, records and a few other nice to haves. Are you going to do a video on this particular car and why you chose it?
Got my 07 Z06 with 59k miles for $30k even. Car looks like a 20k mile car and has all the work already done. Could be in better shape on the "hidden" cosmetics like the inner rim barrels, there's mud/dirt in weird places, and some of the bolts in the engine bay are rusted. Pretty sure previous owners kept her parked outside in not great weather. Still, she runs hard, drives awesome (rides better than my old 08 Z51), and checks all my boxes.
I have to ask, are you going to supercharge your C6 like your C5? I absolutely agree with you on the red interior by the way not for me inside of any car. I drive my C5 ( manual transmission) as often as possible. 2001 now with 140k on it. I bought it to drive it, have fun with it and maintain it as nessicsry. To me a car is not investment to look at in my garage, lifes to short.
I'm looking again but prices are still fluffy. In 2012 I picked up a 90K mile 2002 Z06 for 15K, one owner car, garage, he just drove it to work and back, all stock. Needed a water pump and radiator, oh and brakes. Sold it in 2016, repairs obviously done, new tires, 130k miles , 15k in 2017 I picked up a 2007 ZO6 for 40K with 16K miles. Sold it in 2019 with 26K miles for the same price. Right now I would like to find a 2010 to 2013 Grand sport but all of the sub 40K mile cars, well not all but a lot are inflated. A good clean six-speed coupe with 30,000 or so should be trading at about 31,000-35,000, people are still asking 40, 42, we will see where pricing goes over the next year or two because that car back in 2019 was low to mid-thirties. +10k over kbb is a no go
Great informative video. As you always seem to do. So I went in to see what I could find in a C6 and find your buying price very reasonable compared to what I am seeing here in Portland, Oregon and within 500 miles in any direction. I have just done Car Fax for now and find an average price of 22 C6's within this mileage range to average $32,000. Found one listed as a 2011 ZR1 ZR-3 for $76,000. Interestingly enough there is a 2009 listed with a LT4 (a photo of the engine reveals a LS3 customized) and a cost of $169,950. Here's the interesting thing about it- it's with a 1963 Split Window C2 body. It reads in part as; 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Karl's Kustom "63 Corvette" Coupe * $11,295 In Factory Options and Over $62,000 In Custom Work * Car Number 8 of 30 Built * A Unique Car With Classic Looks and Modern Performance*Karl's Kustoms 1963 Corvette Conversion* * Built By Karl Chevrolet In Iowa * Fiberglass Split-Window Stingray Body * Custom Rear Glass * 1963-Style Hood Vents * Stingray Front Fender Vents * with 9841 miles. I also found a 2011 Grand Sport LT1(?) for only $29,910 and 78,000 miles, Black on Black. That being said and my search of Car Fax and the prices listed I think that I am very Happy with my 2000 C5 Z51 coupe for now and keep adding my personal touches in upping the performance engine and suspension wise. Some modifications body and aerodynamics and keeping it in as fresh as new as I can in detailing the Vette along with proper preventive maintenance. Still, I enjoyed your video.

in your opinion what is a 02 red w black top and interior automatic convertible w 92k miles on it worth? no rust exc shape and chrome z06 wheels. car is in excellent condition as well.
Depends on the part of the country You're located in. With 92,000 mi, condition is going to be very important because some of them might be pretty beat up with that mileage and some of them might be taken care of really well.
@@Toys4Life its in excellent condition and looks phenomenal and very well maintained. no rust etc. paint and interior is perfect. hence the exc condition. what is something like that worth in your area? im not really into convertibles at all. the guy is asking 7k for it and im thinking of picking it up to possibly resell it. im not really into vettes but if the price is right im into anything lol. i have been looking into picking up a c5 z06 though. for some reason im really liking the looks of those all of a sudden. im more into dodge but i really like those for some reason lol. i was looking at getting a challenger. if i find a z06 though for a good price i think id buy it.
Hey, unrelated question. I don’t know the history of the clutch in my C5 Z06. I’ve had the car 21 months and put 7,000 miles on it for a total of 77,000 miles. The clutch doesn’t engage until the end of the pedal stroke and it’s hard to be smooth when letting it out. The car wants to lurch, especially in 1st gear. I’m also hearing a high pitched whine sound in the first 3 gears. I haven’t noticed any slipping at all. I’m wondering if this is a steady decline to needing a new clutch and how long do I have? I’ve never replaced a clutch and jack stands aren’t going to raise the car very high. I can hear my wife telling me to sell the car before spending over $2,000 for a shop to do it😢. If I attempt it myself, it’s going to be a winter job here in Washington State and I’ll need to build something to get it off the ground a little higher😅
For the high pitched wine make sure your transmission fluid and differential fluids are topped off and haven't been leaking. Take it easy on your clutch and it should last quite a bit longer. I hope you don't have to sell it, that would suck 😭
Have you ever had an issue with the pop up headlights on your c5? One of mine is up and the other is down. When I start the car and turn them on or off one goes up while the other goes down so they are out of sync. I'm wondering if there is a way to get them back in sync. Weird....
I have not. Many many people have. Go to Corvette forum and do a search in the C5 page. I'm confident you'll find it very good information to help solve the problem.
Isn't there some kind of service who will check out a carfor me if it's far away? I want to buy a C6 next year but can't trtavel across the country to check it out. ??
The question I'm about to ask is a little off course. I have a 50th anniversary I wanted to put a touch screen . We all know how bad Chevrolet stereos are . I was told I cannot run the Bose speaker s that were that I would have to put different speakers in the car also is that true does anybody know can you help me
True. I'm not an expert on this but I would go to crutchfield and see if they have an interface that allows you to use a newer radio with existing speakers / amplifiers. Others hopefully will chime in that know more.
This came along first and the price was right. Seems like around the midwest prices for LS3 cars are 6-8k higher for similar condition/miles. LS3 is better, but I am not in the camp of LS2 (or LS1 for that matter) is a bad engine.
Congratulations! The only reason I have a C-5 is because I couldn't afford a C-6 . I can't wait to see all the new videos.(did the old owner know who you were? Black rims? Really)p.s.at least I didn't have to settle on a C-4 ! I wonder how many people I offended? Have fun😊
Research on Cars.com, FB Marketplace, Craigslist and see what people are asking and assume you can get it for 5-10% less (ROUGHLY). As much market data as you can gather gives you the confidence you are paying a fair price for that car in that condition in YOUR area. Good luck!!
They work fantastic. I wouldn't trash perfectly functioning stock lights - but if yours are in rough shape, you like the Morimoto looks, and you are planning to keep the car for quite a while - then maybe!
Mods on a Corvette bring little to no extra value unless you find just the right person who finds them tasteful....newer tires bring 0 extra dollars as a prospective buyer would expect the tires to be in good condition & a reduction in price if they aren't
As mentioned in the video, I would agree that engine mods typically don't bring any extra value in fact many times direct from it. When you get cars that are almost 20 years old, I do think that some exterior mods that are well liked by most, do bring extra 💰. If it's a mod that everybody typically does not like, or an inexpensive mod then of course It does not bring any value.
Great video and imho I think the price was great also. There is a lot of car there for that kind of money. Also, if it ever develops "leaky butt" I know a guy... 🙂🙂

(And it was missing both knobs for the AC ... who doesn't fix THAT after all the other things they DID do)
I was under it on the lift and saw nothing.
It is so kind of you to invite me over (but you seem *exactly* like that kind of guy on your videos)
Now I'm just south of Tampa, it's winter, are you sure you'd rather not drive down here? Only 1600 miles or so.
Your videos are GREAT for non lifetime car guys who want to learn.
Greg
You did a great job, I just can't add another project to my list. I just want to drive the thing.
Very fair deal and a very nice car! Thanks for sharing. - Guys
Thanks for the analysis. Now I know what to look for when buying one.
Glad I could help - good luck with your search!
You got a good deal. I used basically the same method to purchase mine. Great video
Cool, thanks - I appreciate the feedback!
Currently looking for a 01-04 c5 corvette, finally got rid of my GTI and I’m hoping I can get a nice clean one for a good price. Wish me luck yall!
Good luck!
Go for a Z06 if you want to rip around!
Selling 98 c5 36000 miles very good condition
Stillwater Motors is hosting a Corvette show in a week or so - stop by, I am planning to be there!
Yes you got a fair deal. Wheels. C7 lights. Clean paint and interior. Congrats
Thanks 👍
Around here bone stock brings the most money. Mods of any kind seem to throw red flags to the many motor heads I know.
I gave you the 420th like lol. Love your channel dude!
I appreciate that, sir!
Este canal es tan divertido, el señor tiene un buen humorr
That was a good price😊 I paid $22,000 for my 03 Z06 with 70,000 miles.
Good info , I’m in the market for a 09-12 Grand sport
I think a great Deal.....I had a 2009 Atomic Orange LT3 C6 that I paid 30K for in 2014.....it had long tube headers Billy Boat exhaust tinted top 6 speed manual..... It was one of about 400 of that year....53k on it when I traded it in on a 2016 C7 8 speed automatic...... I wish I still had the C6.....
Are you sending you like the C6 better than the seven, or that you want to keep them both? Details please (:-)
You got a great deal on your C6.
Wow that's awesome, great looks too Analysis confirmed 👏 👍 😎
Thank you! 👍
The c6 is actually my favorite style of vette
I’m in the market to buy a C6. I’m only interested in 2010 and newer and must be 3LT or 4LT.
Lights and exhaust are nice! I just paid about that for my 03 with 60k, but came with two sets of wheels including the factory mags, z06 exhaust as well as the stock one, records and a few other nice to haves. Are you going to do a video on this particular car and why you chose it?
Thanks for the comment! Here it that video (:-). ruclips.net/video/pvKl85Lz6uM/видео.html
Nice - enjoy!!
Nice price! Although over paying for a nice vette is not a sin.
Fair enough!
Thank you, this helped me price my 2005 C6. Clunky transmission and all. :)
Sorry about that, they can be in super good deal if they meet your long-term goals for the car!
@@Toys4Life No worries, they are very "clunky".
Great video , fair deal compared to South Florida prices 😢
So South Florida's quite a bit higher? How much higher, maybe I'll road trip down there this winter and sell it??
Am planning on getting a automatic for a daily drive and for the traffic
Perfect, make it much more enjoyable!
Great video! You done good!
Thank you!
You did well, nice car I'm just not a fan of black wheels
They're growing on me, although when it comes time to clean them, I like the aluminum ones better that are cleared!
Got a c6 from carvana yesterday trading in my Ecoboost Mustang had to pay 20k but the c6 only had two owners it’s an auto and it’s only got 38k miles
Just bought a c5 with 100k miles for 6500$ pretty rough cosmetically but mechanically it’s in pretty good condition
Sounds like a fun project car to me!
Prices seems a bit higher here in western Washington for both c6’s and c5’s
I have to ask, are you going to supercharge your C6 like your C5?
I absolutely agree with you on the red interior by the way not for me inside of any car.
I drive my C5 ( manual transmission) as often as possible.
2001 now with 140k on it.
I bought it to drive it, have fun with it and maintain it as nessicsry. To me a car is not investment to look at in my garage, lifes to short.
Yes indeed a great deal.
Thank you for the comment & feedback!
Excellent video
Glad you liked it
GREAT VIDS - Just subscribed... What do you do for a living? Only reason I ask is because you seem pretty well spoken and refined, as if you hold some sort of leadership position where you work with individuals often. great content - keep it coming.
Restoration and automotive shop until mid-20s through college, then unrelated and business field. Always in the shop working on something through the years and researching keeping up as much as possible on technology. Appreciate the kind words - thank you!
@@Toys4Life Love it!! I have always turned wrenches, specifically on the ford 7.3 diesel powerplant, but have always been a vette fan (all gens). Recently got to a spot financially where I feel comfortable dropping the loot on a C5. Your vids have been a hugeeee help and given me confidence to make the right decision! Thanks again! Cheers.
C6 only a front the owner can love
Hmmm m. Maybe 🤔
I think you bought ok..118K miles isn't great.. but you can never go wrong on a red Corvette.
Prices seem pretty high here in New England. I been looking.
Cast the net wider?
in your opinion what is a 02 red w black top and interior automatic convertible w 92k miles on it worth? no rust exc shape and chrome z06 wheels. car is in excellent condition as well.
Good Deal... More importantly use it in Good Health...
I like these car so much, I don't even look at exotics, they got nothing on the Corvettes!
great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Hey, unrelated question.
@@Toys4Life Thanks for the help! I don’t think I would need to sell the car. 🙂 She would just need to complain about it for a while, lol
Honestly I been saving up some cash for a little while now and I want to save up more but I want my C6 soo bad already
This is Ron, in farmington mn, wanted to set up appointment
Hi Ron - I just replied to your email - sorry for the delay!!
140,000 miles is the line? Wow, I would never thought to buy any car with such mileage. Interesting. Thanks
As long as you can conclude they are mainly highway miles and the price reflects the miles (:-)
@@Toys4Life agree.
Bought mine on 4/22, 2011 GS, 41k miles, $35k
I have a C5 with 6000 Mi on it that I bought in 2002 brand new
That's awesome, but please put a few more miles on it 😜
17K for my 98 C5 convertible with 6 speed manual and 85k on the odometer. Best deal EVER.
Enjoy!
Isn't there some kind of service who will check out a carfor me if it's far away? I want to buy a C6 next year but can't trtavel across the country to check it out. ??
There are, I can't think of the names but there's at least one maybe more!
I my 2011 Supersonic blue metallic 6speed gear jammer. 24000 miles. original tires.
Hello Toys4Life
i was wondering why you went with a LS2 for your C6 and not the LS3?
This came along first and the price was right. Seems like around the midwest prices for LS3 cars are 6-8k higher for similar condition/miles. LS3 is better, but I am not in the camp of LS2 (or LS1 for that matter) is a bad engine.
Nice! Are you giving away your Vortech supercharged C5?
Once I hit a million subs I'll give it serious thought 🤔
Wow! Great deal. How much were they asking? Dealer or private party?
Sounds like private party.
Private Party
Congratulations! The only reason I have a C-5 is because I couldn't afford a C-6 . I can't wait to see all the new videos.(did the old owner know who you were? Black rims? Really)p.s.at least I didn't have to settle on a C-4 ! I wonder how many people I offended? Have fun😊
Hey, all Corvettes are awesome especially the one that's in your driveway 😜
Looking at a 2008 3LT Z51 package Convertible , 23,000 miles, 1 owner. Low 30s. Thoughts anyone?
Research on Cars.com, FB Marketplace, Craigslist and see what people are asking and assume you can get it for 5-10% less (ROUGHLY). As much market data as you can gather gives you the confidence you are paying a fair price for that car in that condition in YOUR area. Good luck!!
How do you like the Morimoto headlights? Are they worth the money?
They work fantastic. I wouldn't trash perfectly functioning stock lights - but if yours are in rough shape, you like the Morimoto looks, and you are planning to keep the car for quite a while - then maybe!
They are awesome way way brighter than factory. Like luxury new car with LED
What happened to your Fiero? Is it getting a boot out of your garage?
It is still around! It is feeling a bit neglected lately...
How many miles are on the red C6? I missed him saying it.
118k
In so cal, people want 40k for their used C6 grand sport. Sad.
GS command a premium everywhere. You could hire me to find and inspect one here in the midwest (likely cheaper) and then deliver...
Great video and imho I think the price was great also. There is a lot of car there for that kind of money. Also, if it ever develops "leaky butt" I know a guy... 🙂🙂
Thank you Mr. Stone!
Did he mention if he got the LS2 or LS3?
It is a 2006 LS2. It has been a year and it runs fantastic & strong.
@@Toys4Life awesome! I’ve been going down a rabbit hole of your videos because I’m torn between getting the LS2 or LS3 because I’m hoping to keep the car for a very long time
Good deal.
