Building Lifetime Leaders
One Shepherd puts you there - inside the demanding environment of simulated combat. Participants analyze the situation, anticipate the opposition, plan the mission, form their teams, and lead their troops to victory.
Running Estimate:
As the century-long Reign of Millers recessed, in its wane the autonomous region of Ashland flourished. Ashland shed its strict socialist ideology and embraced capitalism. The prosperity that resulted brought new clout for the new middle class. It was also the cause of significant resentment from the Miller minority.
Two military factions emerged from the is strife - the Miller People's Militia (MPM) and the Ashlander National Army (ANA). The region has seen violent clashes as both armies claim sovereign rights to Ashland. In May of 2008, the ANA and MPM fought a desperate battle over a small wooded ridge.
One Shepherd Leadership Institute received MILES 2000 in late 2007, though the Battle of Ashland Ridge FTX was our first using MILES gear in the spring of 2008. It pitted two small platoons, Army/Marine ROTC BLUFOR against One Shepherd OPFOR, in Mark Twain National Forest near the township of Ashland, Missouri. Today, One Shepherd continues 40 years of training operations.
I would love to be able to do this again.
man this is amazing!
Thank you. And they just keep getting better every year! Last year during the anniversary Joint FTX celebrating 40 years of service, we conducted air assault missions with UH-1H Hueys. We're looking forward to future air assault operations with that same aviation group - maybe even with Cobra gunships for CAS next time.

Hope you document this fall well
Man, what a semester! The Fall 2021 Joint FTX saw 97 Warriors in the simulation, backed up by 18 staff and cadre - including air assault operations with UH-1H from the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation from St. Louis, MO. Just incredible!
@@christopherlarsen7788 do you know of anyone else that recorded it? i was there 3/2

So this was from back in 2008. Do my eyes deceive me, or is OPFOR using AK47 or variants and BLUFOR using ARs?
Yep. One Shepherd used Kalashnikovs (AKM, SKS, and full-auto RPK) for a couple of decades, but gave them all up in 2012 when we learned how badly they were damaging the MILES SAT lasers. The MILES we have was designed only for the M200 blank.
Trust me...we all had a good cry!
It's a real shame you guys don't have one of these over here on the west coast. I'm only 15 but I would absolutely love to attend your institute. I really love things related to the military, and I'm already planning on enlisting in the marine corps once I turn 18 so maybe leadership training could give me some sort of "boost" in the actual military!

Hey!!
@@JohnZiTAB nice profile picture!
21:29.. Good night vision capture.. Cool
Great video.
Fun video. I miss using the AKs.
Me, too, brother.
Will there be a winter ftx this year?
No, sadly. One Shepherd hasn't had a winter op in many, many years. It requires very specific (read: expensive) gear and plenty of cold weather training. BUT - S&S Training Solutions offers the "Winter Forge" SIMX and cold weather training each January.
@Andrew - I was just commenting on this fact in another video. You cannot leave Warriors stranded in Arctic or Mountain (high altitude) warfare without resupply. They'll literally be dead within a few hours from exposure to the environment!
I see you guys have a Uh-1 now, that’s pretty dope
Correct. Hopefully, we'll continue to work with that aviation unit. They said they'd like to bring their Cobra gunships out next time to function as CAS.
How would that work? Would you implement a JTAC or Combat Controller role to talk to the CAS?
@@m1da5wolf42 I would imagine it’s just communicating an airstrike with the helicopter. Probably giving coordinates and such to them .
@@m1da5wolf42 - As Lauri said, it will be the patrol leader on the radio calling and marking enemy targets as best he can.
@@christopherlarsen7788 I was just wondering if you were going to have MILES on the AH-1. There was a kit developed for it.
Good vid
46:31.. Little tight no..?.losen up bit..?. Or am I wrong.. Fkin frag or any explosive would make this a bad hit IMO..
Yeah, the probing patrol hit an LP/OP where they did not expect one. I seem to recall they were both caught completely off guard. One of the enemy in the OP/LP was hit, but otherwise the remaining two enemy Warriors repulsed the probing patrol.
Ahhh. That's y they were bunched up.. Correct if I'm not wrong, is it not a standard procedure to be a few feet to meny from each other..?. Just in case someone dose get lucky with a frag. All four IMO would be incapacitated to carry on let alone stay on the fight. But I get it, surprise right. I think that's y theirs to be a certain amount spacing between ppl. But I could be wrong. Just an observation.. Thanks for the speedy response..👍👍👍😝😆😆😜., Sir.
@@blackquiver - Yes. Spacing is critical. But in this case, they are literally just crossing the "line of departure" from their tactical assembly area (TAA) in the parking lot. From there, they begin to spread out the formation for better spacing another 100m down the logging trail.
Spacing that's the word I was looking 4, .. Right thxs
