@@10thScaleGarageyou dont need to let engines cool down. When you do club racing, you just pit stop and go. However electric mains are limited to 10 minutes so that they dont spontaneously combust. I personally prefer nitro, with electrics you need to buy batteries which 6s's cost 200$ where I live which will last you 15-20 minutes and then you have to charge them. Where as nitro, or even better large scale gas you just fill up and go and you can drive all day.
I also have a bunch of wasteful batteries and chargers and a ridiculous amount of electric vehicles. My large scale gas is gonna be here this week and I don't have to buy anything for it, I already have a dirtbike. In a related story I also have an electric bike and those batteries are worthless for anything else besides that. THAT is the problem with electric vehicles batteries are not universal gasoline is. across-the-board and I love my electric cars and trucks and bike but I prefer my motorcycle my truck etc. RC and real vehicles are closely related
ehhhh nitros better ya electric is faster but nitro is just gas and go once you got a good tune. thats why nitro races last well over 30mins while electric is like 5-10min lol i got both and both have their place but i just perfer nitro
i have 20 nitro rc cars and 1 xmaxx battery ....... says it all ..... nitro is for the people who like realism tuning an engine battery is for plug and play
For my Nitro's Ive always let it have a little warm up. No need to let them cool down unless you were doing some hard core bashing. Other wise fuel and go. As for the batteries for nitro , this is true they need charging but they should last 10x times longer as they are only used for starting and running the servos. Tuning is tricky if you are new but it does not take long to go on RUclips and learn something new. For after run maintenance , if you run something like sidewinder then no after run oil needed. If running Traxxas fuel it should be fine for a few weeks or even a month or two. But if planning on letting it sit for years yea add some after run oil for sure. Still there are people that have let there nitro sit for 10 years with no after run and ran good fuel and it started up and ran once more lol
i got back into rc like 3 years ago with a plain xl5 rustler, i just bought a new RC and was debating between nitro or brushless. I went Nitro because they are not long for this world, they will probably be discontinued before too long, so let em rip while you can imo. The theatrics of a nitro is really the only point that a nitro wins on.
Alain bellemare done right and maintained i am with you on that. Espesialy with the high en motors. I must say that i have both nitro and electric and gas rc’s. But i always use the nitros outside from spring to fall, becauase i get bored with electric. I never use them, but in the winter i use electric because its inside, and Thats fine because i drive with others. If it wasnt for that i get bored very fast. But i agree that nitro fuel is expensive and that electric is much faster in general. Thats the fact. But for me its more fun with nitro, and not much thinkering at all. But i have been doing nitro for many years. But i respect that others prefer electric. The best is to have them all. 😊
I’ve had both and I agree with all of your points, electric is better in every way BUT electric doesn’t do it for me, I like the little engines, it’s just so interesting to me having a tiny little engine on a tiny car, the sound and smoke and whole experience and cool to me. I don’t mind messing around and cleaning them up..that’s half the fun is tinkering around with it. When I first got a nitro I had a nightmare trying to tune, unlike large gas engines it’s not near as obvious in the sound but once I learned it then it was no big deal at all, just small tweaks here and there most of the time.
Ive had a few electrics after giving up nitro then left the hobby a while ago came back only to realise burning nitro is way more fun than electric but each to there own
Ive got both...Nitro and Electric....both have their pros n cons...but both are RC's n both are super fun...i love my nitro mainly cuz i love to tinker with it...side crashed it into the wall yeaterday n ripped the weak @$$ control arm right out...i wasnt even sad cuz it meant i get to get dirty n tinker :D but yea...there is way more tinkering in nitro than electric...but maybe im just weird
Kinda reminded me of gas grilling vs smoking or charcoal. Ease vs flavor or attitude. But that’s why I have both style grills and would love both RC’s the mechanic in me says nitro, however you can still “tune” /modify an electric. Plus all the pros you mentioned.
I can make a video with 5 times nitro is better but i dont want to say a lot of bulshit u saying to minimize nitro u dont need to say nitro is bad to say that electric is amazing they both amazing
I've had a TMAXX since the 90's , eventually put a wide maxx kit and limited the shock travel and put a candy blue 72 bronco body made me a wheelie bar aftermarket pipe and I'm still running the same engine today and I bash the hell out of this truck into metal garbage cans and totally flatten them out and send the lids flying with a really loud boom and only thing I've had to change is the spurs gear two front suspension arms a couple servos , I run brushless with my son and after we get the old maxx warmed up she holds her own damn well ! I didn't get to buy one off the shelf cause family first ya know and just bought a new 2.5r and went through the whole truck cleaned and greased it up and put it back together and I keep it clean as I can but I'm not detailing the damn things and so far the only other rc that I've had that's held up so far is my mt10e, it really seems to be a brute as well . I like the videos bubb keep it up, watching from WV !!!
Traxxas 3.3 nitros are faster then almost all 2s/brushless combos. 3s and 4s are faster then nitros in general but there are some very fast nitros out there and I don't think they're outdated
The only bad thing about nitro is number 1 Number 2 Tuning is fun and you need to wait for your engine to warm up before you start to tune Number 3 My nitro is extremely dependable. Starts in 3 pulls, most rc people carry lots of gear anyway Number 4 Your nitro must be messed up with the tuning if you have to let it cool down in between tanks Number 5 I guess it doesn't have scale looks but a cooling head looks sick!
Electric is easy for the person who can’t tune nitro. If you can tune a nitro engine it is so much more fun with the actual sound of a motor and they are for the most part just as fast. I prefer nitro cars all day for the whole experience but electric is the future for sure. Maybe nitro will make a comeback.

Electric can only last 15/20min and you have to charge it 45min minimum. Nitro engines can last years i bin driving 1 nitro rc for 5y and have changed nothing on it i also drive mine nitro rc for 2+hr straight , If you lose power in a nitro the car will not move it will apply brake and shutoff Electric is fast for around 5/8min after 8min the car slows down since the battery starts to discharge and you have to run home and charge it Nitro you just fill up and you are ready to go Electric also sounds like a buzzing mosquito is very annoying 😂
I've been DONE with nitro for 2 years now, I don't miss the messy wrenches lol, ELECTRIC IS BY FAR BETTER! Oh yeah ya hit the nail on the head with the tuning in, it's a major drag!!
Electric seems like playing with a little kids toy..nitro is ok...but 1/5 scale car with a 45 cc fuel engine in it is the best!!! The exitment u get from it no electric can go near it...sorry...
Nitro is headaches, stinks, annoys neighbors, and need to constantly buy nitro fuel. With Electric, any kid or beginner just plug in and play. Great video, old G's get offended when I start comparing. My Revo 3.3 ran away towards moving traffic on low battery & had to chase it at human max speed with fast heart pounding moment. I will get nitro again after I get bored with Electrics or just too wealthy in a big house. Overall, I hate tuning and adjusting it to the max then engines goes bad. I do like it though with some benefits, great if I want to be technical or a mechnic but I just wanna have fun. Oh yeah, reverse seems like a big problem either for my Revo 3.3 or most Nitro RCs but not sure. I probably will get a gas RC before I get another Nitro RC. I'm waiting on something new like the Xmaxx 2. 👍😄
Yeah electric is easier to use and more convenient....if your lazy or have no mechanical bone in your body....electric sounds like a TOYS 'R' US...toy...play toyish....there's some thing more visceral and aggressive about the growl and scream of nitro and the smell....the feeling of controlling a MACHINE rather than a toy....

My opinion why you shoud at least have 1 nitro car in you colection is that 1 Nitros make a great Sound (planes/in air) and cars on speed Tests 2 If Batteries gone flat in resiver/car you can by Brand New ones cheaply . 3 Kyosos cars are very resistend , i ran my frezer in to a Wall on 50mph and it survieved with out a scratch . I think also one reason, for electric. Is they are not noisy. Most regular folks would prefer not to hear your noisy rc car.I am all for electric, just my suggestion.Stay safe everyone.✌🌍
The only problem I have with electric is all the different plugs out here you have to change them all for different brands and everything to use the same charger
Not too big of a deal. I see your want for plug and play but soldering isn't too hard. Plus you only need to solder something once then just get a mess of connectors and transfer everything over and you're set. It's better than shopping around for batteries with a certain connector and paying more in the process. My planes and quadcopters and cars all have the same xt-60 connectors for ease of use with my charge boards.
Battery last about 15 to 20 minutes and takes 40 minutes to an hour to charge. Nitro a tank of fuel last 15 to 20 minutes and it takes about 10, 15 seconds to fill tank and go again. As to letting the nitro engine cool off after a run. I run my nitro rich when I am bashing and just messing around. Running it rich will let you go through several tanks of fuel and not go over 200 to 240 degrees fahrenheit. I keep a laser temp gun in my kit and check the temps on the engine every now and then.
The fact that you are lazy to maintain a nitro car does not mean that the electric ones are better, it has its advantages but the sound produced by the nitro car is unique.
I grew up on electric because I couldn't afford nitro. Eventually I did get a nitro, and it was kind of a pain. Then the advent of affordable brushless and Lipo's pretty much sealed it for me, electric is the way... Nitro's are cool, and if you love your nitro RC, great but I am electric all the way.
#1 Reason: Peak Power. Setups like the XLX2/2028 motor can sustain 10 hp output and peak at 18 hp. Are there any 1/5 th scale nitro engines that can do that?
@@10thScaleGarage after a bit more research, it “could” be possible to create a custom 49cc nitro methane motorcycle Aprila RS50 engine run continuously in the 13 hp range with port injection, standalone ECU, but at that point, it’s not really RC car territory anymore and is more like motorcycle territory.

I personally prefer nitro, with electrics you need to buy batteries which 6s's cost 200$ where I live which will last you 15-20 minutes and then you have to charge them. Where as nitro, or even better large scale gas you just fill up and go and you can drive all day.
That’s why I have a trillion batteries and half a trillion chargers.
I can’t stand to watch my neighbor mow the yard with a lawn mower and an extension cord and this is what electric cars remind me of. 😂
i have 20 nitro rc cars and 1 xmaxx battery ....... says it all ..... nitro is for the people who like realism tuning an engine battery is for plug and play
Holy Bejesus! I only have 4 nitros. (and four 2-strokes) You're a nitro legend!
@@10thScaleGarage ....... i just hit the subscribe button 👍👍
I Love both but i have to give the nod to nitro , so i guess im not on the fence anymore ! Lmao !!
You do have a few good points here...🤔👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾
I appreciate that!
Neither one is better than the other. Its a personal preference. There are Pros and Cons to both.
i got back into rc like 3 years ago with a plain xl5 rustler, i just bought a new RC and was debating between nitro or brushless. I went Nitro because they are not long for this world, they will probably be discontinued before too long, so let em rip while you can imo. The theatrics of a nitro is really the only point that a nitro wins on.
it would be true if it works all the time , but nitro is more reliable
Reminds me of “Men” who drives Teslas lol
You're totally right. That's half the fun!
Not weird tinkering is part of the joy
Kinda reminded me of gas grilling vs smoking or charcoal. Ease vs flavor or attitude. But that’s why I have both style grills and would love both RC’s the mechanic in me says nitro, however you can still “tune” /modify an electric. Plus all the pros you mentioned.
I never thought about it that way.
I can make a video with 5 times nitro is better but i dont want to say a lot of bulshit u saying to minimize nitro u dont need to say nitro is bad to say that electric is amazing they both amazing
You must not have seen the video I made about why Nitro is still cooler than electric. I made these videos for fun. I like/ have both.
Nitro is fun. But you need a cargo van to bring everything with you “just in case”.
haha. Yup
@@10thScaleGarage i don't care i love both
I've had a TMAXX since the 90's , eventually put a wide maxx kit and limited the shock travel and put a candy blue 72 bronco body made me a wheelie bar aftermarket pipe and I'm still running the same engine today and I bash the hell out of this truck into metal garbage cans and totally flatten them out and send the lids flying with a really loud boom and only thing I've had to change is the spurs gear two front suspension arms a couple servos , I run brushless with my son and after we get the old maxx warmed up she holds her own damn well !
How did I miss this video 😂
I released two at the same time!
Electric= simple, soulless no sound.
Nitro =Educational, badass, sound and smell of nitro
Nitro all day everyday
The only bad thing about nitro is number 1
Number 2 Tuning is fun and you need to wait for your engine to warm up before you start to tune
Number 3 My nitro is extremely dependable. Starts in 3 pulls, most rc people carry lots of gear anyway
Number 4 Your nitro must be messed up with the tuning if you have to let it cool down in between tanks
Number 5 I guess it doesn't have scale looks but a cooling head looks sick!
Have great weekend 10th scale
Thanks, you too!
My only annoyance with nitro is how these engines lose compression quickly sometimes.
@@davidh5429 that happens when you don't break them in properly. I have an os .21 on a revo that has been working for 8 years perfectly. Take your time breaking it in and they will last.
Being part of the RC community is better than picking electric or nitro
Well said.
For me I like nitro it’s rewarding when you put the effort into it. It’s so much more fun than electric. I mean come on guys. It’s a freaking real combustion engine in there and all the smoke and etc., etc.
No need to let a nitro engine cool down before tanks. Itll be cooled down below running temp before you're finished refilling. Its cooled by the fuel.
True ;)
Right on
My shop has sent me nitro version of the electric car that I bough, by mistake. I was contemplating keeping it as I didn't want to wait another week to exchange... Your video has helped to make up my mind - I am returning it and getting the electric one I originally purchased. Thanks a tone! Alex
Oh yeah ya hit the nail on the head with the tuning in, it's a major drag!!
haha. You might not want to watch the other video...
First! Thanks man. I ALmost messed 2 years ago.
Nice job!
Enjoy both, haven't experienced 1/8th scale electric, but my associated b84.1 nitro is awsome.
At this point i dont know which is better lmao i want both :)
You forgot maintenance
Dang. You're right! that's an excellent point
Lets not forget that piston and sleaves wear out!
I am into both also, but I prefer electric myself. Great Vid Dude!!!!
Electric seems like playing with a little kids toy..nitro is ok...but 1/5 scale car with a 45 cc fuel engine in it is the best!!! The exitment u get from it no electric can go near it...sorry...
YESSSS! Two stroke is freakin awesome.
Well said.
Do not forget the functionality that a nitro does not have reverse
Very true, although some do. My old Novak speed control didn’t have reverse either, but that was 20 years ago.
Electric is easy nitro is hard, it's never the same each run. Some people like that technical aspect others not. Both are friggin sweet if you ask me
well said.
Nitro is better
( feels more like a hobby)
Takes experience and knowledge to be able to make it run right and reliable. For racing anywayz electric may be better for bashing
Totally agree
Awesome video I like the electric but then I seen a losi mtxl on pump gas and I really need one now. I wish losi would bring them back
That would be cool
@@10thScaleGarage have you ever tried one?
My opinion why you shoud at least have 1 nitro car in you colection is that 1 Nitros make a great Sound (planes/in air) and cars on speed Tests 2 If Batteries gone flat in resiver/car you can by Brand New ones cheaply . 3 Kyosos cars are very resistend , i ran my frezer in to a Wall on 50mph and it survieved with out a scratch . Sorry for the bad English . 😄👍
Dang. You're lucky it's still in one piece!
@@10thScaleGarage ß
Yes the Plastic took it well nothing bend but the engin Was killd instantly , i just bought a New one and now it runnig again ! Nitro Baby! !
Guess I’ll always be old school about it. Just like I would prefer to track a corvette over a Tesla.
I think also one reason, for electric. Is they are not noisy. Most regular folks would prefer not to hear your noisy rc car.I am all for electric, just my suggestion.Stay safe everyone.✌🌍
Electric is king because of skill-less throw away society.
You're right about that!
Totally.
4:39 and if your battery starts to smoke and catch fire u can just go get a another one
Great video !
The golden age of Nitro is over :(
I only needed one. Noise.
my 2 cents, I like electric better ,because I can listen to my music as I drive around ,I don't use ear buds or headphones ,so there
Nice!
Cool video
The biggest downfall of nitro in my opinion is the noise. It irritates the hell out of me. I doubt if my neighbours would be impressed either
My nitro isn't nearly as loud as my 2-stroke Baja.
I love the noise. Fuck the neighbors
@@rcyalater...2305 Gold lol
cool video,info,and rc
Glad you enjoyed it
#1 Reason: Peak Power. Setups like the XLX2/2028 motor can sustain 10 hp output and peak at 18 hp. Are there any 1/5 th scale nitro engines that can do that?
Nitro? Nope. 2-stroke can get close.
I like both I had a T-Maxx back in the day and I never could get that the right tune finally met a girl and stopped messing around with it and sold it just got back into it and bought an x-max
Excellent choice.
Im really on the fence about this !!!
I can play electric rc with my kids inside the house or garage without annoying the pets or my wife with the smell of fuel and filling the room with exhaust.
#6 Most... MOST Nitros Do Not Have Reverse!
Very True! None of mine do.
@@10thScaleGarage That Tmaxx came with it. What happened?
Nitro is fun. Loud. Fast. An just cool all the way sro. Electric. The torque behind electric is insane!!! I got one that has 2 brushless 390 motors on it. Running a 5400 mAh. It's freaking screams!!!! Can run 2 batteries at once as well. Use that for drag racing 😎. Iv out ran 2 traxxas trucks. A stampede. Electric. Built. An a nitro Revo. Stock.
I love nitro brother . But for ergonomics of living in the city. Electric is the go . Especially when I Love driving at all hours of the day or night. I can crawl and bash . Without gettin an ear bashed by the neibours
My Savage 36 would destroy the arrma big rock I am faster than all of my battery friends and all I run is Nitro it's called by a bigger Nitro motor the 36 is almost 6 horsepower
Sounds like a challenge....
@@10thScaleGarage it's just what happens if you think outside the box big nitro will get you moving i have a nitro limitless as well with twin motor it's crazy fast but electric cars have made it easy to get into the hobby in the 90s nitro was all I ran and I still run it now
Hey I have a electric rc and I live in Utica New York I need a guy that can customize my rc 10 scale
You can do it!
But you still need to worry about your car over heating with electric cars bc if u run em to hot the can catch fire
absolutely right. We've burned down a couple rigs....
Send me your nitro,lol...I will give it a good home,I like electric and nitro,I guess I really like nitros because I worked on motors for a long time and I like to tinker with the nitro motors
You pay for shipping
A batterie depend which on and how much you want to drive keeep driving i think not so batterie depending how much throttle its in 5 mimutes to 10 minutes empty and if you want to drive like a ntro a full day you will need more than 10 batteries
Love the channel but 20 minutes a run them wait to cool down for a nitro. Man mine should have been junk along time ago. 3-5 tanks every run no problems
Electric to me. Is better!! Buy more than one battery. An buy a big battery charger set-up. Charge more than once at a time. Get a solar panel. Or more. An can charge why you're out in the field.
Seriously nitro is really expensive like you pointed out you still need batteries for the servos ect.
Check out laegendary RC truck line up. I promise. U will be impressed with how well they perform for what they cost. Got close to 300 in this truck. Include buying it an mildly building it. They have parts u can buy, replacement parts. An upgraded parts aswell.
The electric truck also has to rest in between runs electric blows fuel away great video👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah I've never had an electric truck that didn't need to cool off after a run.
