Hey man. I own bolth eletric and nitro. Yea eletric is more practical and easier to use and more reliable but there's no feeling like driving a nitro and seeing all of your hard work go into action. When you work on a nitro car or maintain it, it's way more rewarding than an eletric. Plus TWO SPEED BABY!

I started out with brushless, but when I got my first nitro (a Hobao Hyper VS) it quickly became my most favorite and most driven rc car. Its like the hobby finally felt like what I dreamed it would feel like as a kid. Brushless just doesnt compare in fun for me and I qickly get bored driving them.

My kid has two electric 1/10 scale and I have seven nitro 1/8 scale rcs. Yes, he can go faster, yes he can swap batteries (all two of them) I still prefer my nitro because of the noise, the smell, the constant tinkering and adjusting. You don't have to 'cool down' between tanks and I can go all day if I want. It's all part of the hobby. My kid has no patience. It has to work out of the box. Where is the fun in that?!

The information in this vid is incorrect. You don’t have to let nitro motors cool down at all. In fact the opposite is true, you have to let electric motors cool down. That’s the big draw to gas and nitro...if you have a gallon, you can literally drive all day, wear as most ppl only have , 2-3 sets of batteries max, so once those are done, your day is over, which sucks.

I have somewhere around 30 RC planes I keep in an 18 foot cargo trailer bought just for them. They are gas, glow, and electric. I love them all. I pull it around with a 36 foot motor-home. When I fly my nitro's though, I have to break out the chaise lounge so I can lay down, or get a bad kink in the neck. I'm gonna be up there awhile! I do have a four port charger for the electrics and even it wont keep up if try to fly only electric. Now, honestly, as far as field equipment and expenses. Electric has proven to be the most expensive as well. 1 replacement battery costs more than a gallon of nitro, a crash usually destroys the motor or at least bends the shaft. I have an O/S .40 which has lived through many crashes since 1984, and now powers a Sundowner 36" at 118 mph.

The guy with this channel apparently dont have a clue about nitro engines. He say after a tank it must cool itself down. Thats just not true at all. Why can i just drive and drive AS long as i am sure it get enough fuel to lubricate and cool the engine. A example of this is in a race the final is three quarter. If one would drive more, its not a problem at all. Just make sure you have batteri to the servoes, and you could drive all day if you wanted it. This is typhical what electro guys often say,and its not true at all. But i agree that for most people is more easy with electric,AS long AS the electric components dont get on fire or the batteries dont svelling. It is things with everything that are pros and cons.

its like saying a formula e is faster than a ferrari. yea true its faster and will smash it but when your in the seat smelling the fuel and the engines ripping you have more connection with it. true we let our engines cool down after 20-30 minutes. but we also tweak and play around with it. also the battery for the servos literally lasts 2 and a half hours! i like electric but nothing beats smoking up a street ripping a nitro and tuning it. its like if you got a built lego. when you build it it brings value to it.

NO , Faster a little if you are comparing with average brushless rc car no to A traxxas xo1 ,and you are right about buying more lipo batteries, but a good lipo battery cost around 70 to $100 plus a decent charger $100 and if you don't storage your batterys correctly they are going to be puffy ,dead and useless.and you can buy a traxxas jato or nitro 4tec they are faster than average brushless rc cars ,tell me if I am right or wrong, it is just my opinion.

@@10thScaleGarageyou dont need to let engines cool down. When you do club racing, you just pit stop and go. However electric mains are limited to 10 minutes so that they dont spontaneously combust. Yes its obviously bad to let a nitro overheat, but good tuning will make it so it wont. Nitro mains go for over an hour sometimes, and the engines are fine afterwards.

I personally prefer nitro, with electrics you need to buy batteries which 6s's cost 200$ where I live which will last you 15-20 minutes and then you have to charge them. Where as nitro, or even better large scale gas you just fill up and go and you can drive all day.

For my Nitro's Ive always let it have a little warm up. No need to let them cool down unless you were doing some hard core bashing. Other wise fuel and go. As for the batteries for nitro , this is true they need charging but they should last 10x times longer as they are only used for starting and running the servos. Tuning is tricky if you are new but it does not take long to go on RUclips and learn something new. For after run maintenance , if you run something like sidewinder then no after run oil needed. If running Traxxas fuel it should be fine for a few weeks or even a month or two. But if planning on letting it sit for years yea add some after run oil for sure. Still there are people that have let there nitro sit for 10 years with no after run and ran good fuel and it started up and ran once more lol

I don’t mind messing around and cleaning them up..that’s half the fun is tinkering around with it.
When I first got a nitro I had a nightmare trying to tune, unlike large gas engines it’s not near as obvious in the sound but once I learned it then it was no big deal at all, just small tweaks here and there most of the time.

Nitro is headaches, stinks, annoys neighbors, and need to constantly buy nitro fuel. With Electric, any kid or beginner just plug in and play. Great video, old G's get offended when I start comparing. My Revo 3.3 ran away towards moving traffic on low battery & had to chase it at human max speed with fast heart pounding moment. I will get nitro again after I get bored with Electrics or just too wealthy in a big house. Overall, I hate tuning and adjusting it to the max then engines goes bad. I do like it though with some benefits, great if I want to be technical or a mechnic but I just wanna have fun. Oh yeah, reverse seems like a big problem either for my Revo 3.3 or most Nitro RCs but not sure. I probably will get a gas RC before I get another Nitro RC. I'm waiting on something new like the Xmaxx 2. 👍😄

Yeah electric is easier to use and more convenient....if your lazy or have no mechanical bone in your body....electric sounds like a TOYS 'R' US...toy...play toyish....there's some thing more visceral and aggressive about the growl and scream of nitro and the smell....the feeling of controlling a MACHINE rather than a toy....

My opinion why you shoud at least have 1 nitro car in you colection is that 1 Nitros make a great Sound (planes/in air) and cars on speed Tests 2 If Batteries gone flat in resiver/car you can by Brand New ones cheaply . 3 Kyosos cars are very resistend , i ran my frezer in to a Wall on 50mph and it survieved with out a scratch . The only problem I have with electric is all the different plugs out here you have to change them all for different brands and everything to use the same charger

    • @jamesordwayultralightpilot
      @jamesordwayultralightpilot 3 года назад

Not too big of a deal. I see your want for plug and play but soldering isn't too hard. Plus you only need to solder something once then just get a mess of connectors and transfer everything over and you're set. It's better than shopping around for batteries with a certain connector and paying more in the process. My planes and quadcopters and cars all have the same xt-60 connectors for ease of use with my charge boards.

Battery last about 15 to 20 minutes and takes 40 minutes to an hour to charge. Nitro a tank of fuel last 15 to 20 minutes and it takes about 10, 15 seconds to fill tank and go again.
As to letting the nitro engine cool off after a run. I run my nitro rich when I am bashing and just messing around. Running it rich will let you go through several tanks of fuel and not go over 200 to 240 degrees fahrenheit. I keep a laser temp gun in my kit and check the temps on the engine every now and then.

The fact that you are lazy to maintain a nitro car does not mean that the electric ones are better, it has its advantages but the sound produced by the nitro car is unique.

Then the advent of affordable brushless and Lipo's pretty much sealed it for me, electric is the way... Nitro's are cool, and if you love your nitro RC, great but I am electric all the way.

@@10thScaleGarage after a bit more research, it “could” be possible to create a custom 49cc nitro methane motorcycle Aprila RS50 engine run continuously in the 13 hp range with port injection, standalone ECU, but at that point, it’s not really RC car territory anymore and is more like motorcycle territory.
