Building our Composting Outhouse

  • Today we're taking you back to July 2021, right when we arrived on this property. We hadn't found the septic system yet and we weren't going to travel 40 minutes each way to dump our camper tanks. So... we decided to use a compost system (which we really only needed to use for a couple weeks, after that it was just fun). We build our own unique little Outhouse in the woods.
    Come check it out!

    You two have done so much in such a short period of time I pray you don't burn out. Pace yourselves and above all else put each other first.

      I'm not sure! But it kinda seems as though the Holt's have got things under control for now. I'm also a fan of the channel and I'm hoping that more fans start offering more words of encouragement and support. I feel as though I've been following a few very amazing channels from the very start of their homestead journey and the majority of them have proven to have known or had a good idea of exactly what they might be in for, on such a journey. Everyone please hang in there because I believe that we are going to be seeing some amazing things from the Holt Family.

      I’ve been homesteading for almost ten years and this is the best advice for all homesteaders. Rushing into so many animals and projects has been the down fall for so many other homesteaders I’ve gotten to know in the last 10 years. It was almost my problem. They seem to be doing fine but I’m not to sure if they have jobs or not. If this is their job full time they will succeed.

    I love what you have done in the short time you have been on the Land. We to have a shed/house and a composting out house and love our place. Billy helped get our place going and haven't looked back. I hope the same for you all, and love that you guys are raising kids in the life style. May the Lord bless your endeavors.

    Another wonderful video. The outhouse looks great! When I was a kid we lived way up in the Cascades in Oregon and our outhouse had a flag pole sticking out the front with a silly flag. When the flag was run out it meant the outhouse was occupied. It could be seen from a ways away saving unnecessary trips.

    🙋🏼‍♀️🕊. It would be nice if you had a top part of the out house door , that opened up to see the farm. If that might be fun for you. & fresh air, lol

    Everyone please don't forget to hit the like icon and share this channel with your family and community on social media. Growing Up Holt they've put in a lot of work over the last year at this property. Not to be negative, maybe 🤔 a bit presumptuous! I really didn't think that the Holt's we're going to be ready for their first winter on the property. But didn't they prove me and probably a few others wrong! Then too top it all off, I'm not sure if there was anyone else that was helping. They may not be original Southern but this family seems to have a lot of Gritt. Congratulations 👏🎉 Holt's looking forward to seeing the next video.

    Nice build and re-use of the materials on hand. I’m really enjoying your channel and how you guys show your projects. One thing I was thinking about this project was concerning water issues, thought it might be wise to build a redirecting ditch above the outhouse on the slope just to divert water away from the foundation and steps area that you guys dug out, also might want to put a gutter on the backside and direct water from the roof away from the building as well. hopefully that would help with any erosion issues.

    • @eugenedickerman9513
      @eugenedickerman9513 2 года назад

      You could even see if you could find an old wooden barrel, that would look very cool, and set up a rain catchment off the roof and use the water for any plants or growing that you do in the area.
