Not enough people talk about the Firearms mod. It always gets overshadowed by Brita's mod (although that mod is brilliant in it's own right). As a minimalist myself, the fact that it only adds a small amount of new weapons and mainly just redesigns the vanilla ones has always made it my personal favorite gun mod. Much respect for advertising it.

Wow this is perfect timing. I just started playing PZ and omg I had so much fun learning and dying. Slowly making out of my first week, then finally after I made it. I find out he's dying by a bite (thanks to subjects 1 4 and 5) I make his last moments an alcoholic and wrote a letter in a journal found in his living room. how he was a bad dad wishing he could be better. Drinking in a barricaded house with a shot gun loaded. Right than he dies as I was typing that letter. And I now figured out you can make a character in the same universe (save file) to which your previous character exsited in. I finally made his son to look for him. Than I truly understood the possibilities this game has to offer. Amazed.
this is really nice haha i just recently played PZ too what i did was i ate all the food i have before my character turned into zombie while locking myself in a room
What kinda surprises me is early 90’s rural US and the lack of national guard stations. They’ve been largely decommissioned now but in the early 90’s every podunk town seem to have a national guard depot. Would be completely realistic to have depots in about every town with second hand vehicles.
I was in the guard and so was my pops and here in Utah there is a guard unit in just about every notable town lol. Not too sure about other states but the guard has a buttload of units around the states!
I want to say my favorite addition so far has been Customizable Zombies, its such an improvement to add 2% sprinters to the mix to really catch you off guard. I was at the point where fast shamblers was too easy, and sprinters/random was too hard. Thanks for this great list of mods for those of us who like our games true to vanilla
Good call. I'm also using this one and gotta say it's the biggest game-changer in PZ; no more rushing through cities and kiting every zombie into a fireplace.
Always got to try and bring back the childhood memories by running the '91 Range Rover mod (one of KI5's mods, although I don't use his others) - creates a nice playthrough goal of getting one up and running! For QoL, "Has been Read" just to make it easier when looting for books/magazines
Nice video. Personally, I usually just go for a few UI mods that have become almost a must have for me. (Better Sorting, Minimal Display Bars, Show Skill Up Name, and Simple Add Inventory Pages) Those have some great quality of life features, and minimal display bars gives you a lot of useful info and allows you to more easily keep track of things like hunger, thirst, sleep, fatigue, calories, and unhappiness. I also always use Pillow's Random Spawns mod to help keep things from becoming repetitive.

One of my biggest pet peeves with the base game is that every single character ends up looking the same a few weeks in. Hard hat, police vest, leather jacket, hoodie, denim shirt, leather gloves jeans, and boots. Sacrificing appearance for protection is expected but there's a lack of variety imo.
I’m currently making my best run in PZ and after I die I plan on using some of these mods to further my experience. I’ve been looking for the perfect zombie survival game for so long and I can’t believe I missed this one especially since the customization is so far and beyond.

Brita's weapons has settings to change what weapons spawn now too, from what year they were made or country of origin and the percentage of there spawns in certain places like civilian ewapons in police departments, or military guns in civilian buildings etc.
I'm gonna be looking these up! They look fun. I can't wait for MP. I heard they are almost done with it and have people play testing it right now! Hopefully a update soon!
A few mods I was looking out to hear but didn't were the Water dispenser mod that makes you have put the water jug on it and off to fill(also can find water jugs), the better washing mod, and maybe the que actions while paused mod or even the more books mod or computer use mod. Also some cool mods on my list are the metal spear mod and spear trap but haven't tried them yet in game.
Sounds like some good QOL mods! I've got a few on the list that focus more on QOL but the video focused more on feature based mods. Will have to give these a look!
Thanks for the video! Doing a test run with some mods and figured I should look into some mods suggested in RUclips. I am really liking Super Survivors that adds customized NPC characters to the game. Even let's you start off the game with just a wife or husband as your companion NPC for your playthrough. Makes it feel more realistic but you can adjust the settings to make them OP or even just stay at home guards with jobs to do. Was always a fan of the Nora mod from Fallout 4, that allows Nora to survive being shot at the beginning and take your through the rest of the game as, imho, should have been. So this is pretty great for solo players that want to enjoy some company.
Nice video, but one thing you could do better. If you talk about a specific theme, you can show a visual representation of the spoken, so the viewer can get the point better. Like in this video for example with the cars, you could have shown each car via a short clip as you talk about them.

I want a right hand drive mod. The number of times I've jumped in the passenger seat while getting chased, then panicking and accidentally getting back out.
Same here, was playing on a server with some Americans the other day and the amount of times I tried to get into the passanger side, only to realise it was the driver side was too high xD
Personally enjoy better literacy mod. Reading kind of feels meh in vanilla and yet it's such a large portion of the game. It adds more impact to reading while not it being OP.
@@MrAtomicDuck which is true yes, i do feel however that the guns being hard to use as well as drawing more zombies makes them risk reward weapons, i feel like with britas the problem comes from the attachements, having scopes and suppressors on everything makes guns insanly overpowered as opposed to accessibility.
5:52 I wish the vanilla game had a improvised supressor. 2 variants Metal improvised supressor: Saw a car muffler (you will get a sawn off barrel) and then you add ducktape, tissue and cotton balls. It will last about 15 shots and makes your shots 60, 70 or 80% less loud the number is based of type of muffeler and the old ones give the lowest and the performence ones the highest. can be placed on all long rifles except for shotguns Plastic supressor: plastic bottle, ducktape and cottonballs and it will last 3 shots and make shots 50% less loud. This can only be used for pistols and not revolvers.
perfect exactly what I was looking for, I like brita's but it is a bit excessive and out of 4 attempts to get it working on a new game it failed to register 4 times leaving me with vanilla weapons which kinda suck lol, gonna be using your entire list on this video
Finally bought and downloaded it and I picked up this mod list specifically. Seems like a good list that isn't too over the top Update: LOVING the ones that allow you to edit your character before the game with extensive detail.. It prob is frowned upon to start with some of the gear I did, buuuut it allowed more immersion because it's the kind of equipment/gear that I have at home with me IF zambees happened.
@@MrAtomicDuck this is not even remotely true, there are plenty of guns that have existed from ww2 and onwards. its not like you even have to look far to see these weapons are there either, they're literally previewed on the steam workshop page. also as to your comment of the spawns being unrealistic, you can configure all of those options to suit it to what you define as realistic, the options page for this is also one of the preview images on the steam workshop. I'm sure this other weapon mod is good too, but it doesn't sit right with me to downplay someone else's hard work for reasons that show you likely didnt even look properly.
I would personally recommend "Better Hand Wash". What it does is makes the cost of washing clothes more balanced, as washing a pair of socks in vanilla costs the same amount of water as washing a jacket. The mod also alters the amount of water used based on the condition of the clothing. In vanilla, everything costs 10 water to wash no matter what. With this mod, if there is little blood or dirt, it might only cost 1 water to clean, whereas something thats completely coated in blood and dirt might cost much more than 10 water. Not sure I could even play without half my mod list, I'm not an addict I swear I can quit the workshop anytime I want. But If I had to shine a light on some less known Mods that really do deserve the attention: Doctor Show & Addicted to Weight, small additions that feel vanilla & I'd miss the functionally of either, if I had to go cold turkey raw-dog vanilla. *A shiver went down my spine just thinking about that*
Save Our Station. I love after the power goes out that I have a mission in mind to keep the weather up. Some people might say it's not vanilla friendly but I disagree, as your character finds books and mags that explains to them how to fix the radio station.
I really dislike Authentic Z. Here's why. I'm based in Rosewood's fire station. I had a rough day, my character is exhausted, drowsy. I can't risk a fight. I sneak upstairs, barricade the stairs, and go to sleep into my bed, leaving a dozen zombies blocked downstairs. I wake up. I grab my trusty bat and go downstairs... And all the zombies have somehow transformed into Fire Officers overnight. Wtf? This is what authentic Z does. It doesn't only dress up the new zombies that just spawned, it also affects the old zombies that were already there on the map... It can really break your immersion. Which i why I dislike it now.
@@MrAtomicDuck Yeah it was the first time I noticed it after using the mod for 5 characters that all lasted a couple months at least ; so I guess it was a pretty niche case. Still don't like it though
Definitely gonna check some of these mods out. Random related question. Sometimes I get a lua error message pop up on screen. How can I figure out which mod is causing it? Also a tutorial on debug mode etc would be helpful. Been playing for several months and only dipped my toe into mods/custom maps. Thx
There's no easy way to do that unfortunately, just gotta gradually filter them out until you find the one that's causing it. Mind you, most of these errors are harmless. I've actually got a video on using debug! Give the channel videos a look :)

You could actually customize Brita's Weapon Pack to your liking, reducing the spawn rates and removing certain guns from spawn locations. Also the Gun Fighter mod that comes with Brita's really overhauls the shooting mechanics of the game to make it more intuitive and less painful
Ark of the covenant mod, activating it will almost instantly kill the player, along with all present zombies. Pulling the throne of God as a kamikaze would be funny.

Idk about the nonhostile one but it did shoot the raider at least for me (i think) and also if you're planning on adding superb survivors don't forget to add subpar survivor it fixes most bugs in superb survivors
Me to my 5 NPCs currently living a small residential house with a large unroof Base Area at West Point. "Pack our stuff and get that APC fueled gentlemen! We're moving to Muldraugh! (3 floored warehouse)"
I just started playing PZ. I see that when you aim at zombied they become green as if they are selected. Is this a mod orca vanilla feature? When I try to shoot zombies I just aim at them with my cursor withot any form of 'selection' and I almost always miss my shots x(
You aren't the first person to tell me Brita adds too many guns, or rather, makes them too available while also making too many weird, high end guns in the game. On the latter, I agree. On the former, I don't. When gun safes, and hunting rifles, and shotguns, are available in generic homes, there will be enough guns. Gun safes should be rare, for sure.. but a fire arm under a bed or in a closet or something, shouldn't be impossible. Either way, good vid. Thumbs up.
I don't feel like the brita mod is that unrealistic depending on the settings of the server. Like if the outbreak just happened, you'd expect to find alot more weapons just due to everyone trying to protect themselves but if it was say a couple years in, then sure

so a bit of an unrelated question, but how do you pull out that wheel when youre inside a vehicle? the only way i know of changin seats is exiting and re-entering the vehicle
I’m pretty new to the game and love it but I’m still trying to adjust to zombies chasing me. You have no idea how many times I have just locked myself in whatever building I spawned in and hope zombies don’t hear me walking around. The first save I played through I did exactly that, until I finally decided to leave to go to a nearby house and a zombie saw me and started to run after me so I went back inside and locked myself inside the bedroom, unfortunately they broke down the door and killed me, but it was a good learning experience either way
I'm pretty new too, but I learned that just 1-5 zombies aren't that difficult to deal with. You just need to be more outgoing, and utilize strength traits and shoving zeds to the ground.
I downloaded almost all of them except the helicopter one but when I try to start a game I have the default clothe choices and if I try to start the game it says Sorry, an unexpected error occurred and it tells me to go to a file? I just got the game and have tried a few different things but idk if y’all have any ideas
Nah, this video was made before multiplayer. I can't guarantee they will all work in MP right now, but the creators are updating them and the list of working mods is growing daily.
I love the helicopter mod but god damn if it's not annoying at times. Like, every two or three days, you're getting a helicopter event, like its ALLLLLL the time, that's why I took it off of mine it became too much
I subscribed to all of your mods and activated all of them. I started a new world. But the game keeps getting me errors that something went wrong. Is there an easy way to find out which mod is making trouble?

Have you ever been to ky I live there and everyone I know has at least 3 guns and god knows how much ammo so I think there should be more guns especially with it being in south west KY

I’ve noticed a lot that the empty lot outside of riverside with the car scenes mod on, seems to be full of APCs, and swat and police trucks.
Definitely, if you've got SWAT vehicles they seem to spawn far too frequently.

Update: LOVING the ones that allow you to edit your character before the game with extensive detail.. It prob is frowned upon to start with some of the gear I did, buuuut it allowed more immersion because it's the kind of equipment/gear that I have at home with me IF zambees happened.

@@MrAtomicDuck this is not even remotely true, there are plenty of guns that have existed from ww2 and onwards. its not like you even have to look far to see these weapons are there either, they're literally previewed on the steam workshop page. also as to your comment of the spawns being unrealistic, you can configure all of those options to suit it to what you define as realistic, the options page for this is also one of the preview images on the steam workshop. I'm sure this other weapon mod is good too, but it doesn't sit right with me to downplay someone else's hard work for reasons that show you likely didnt even look properly.

I would personally recommend "Better Hand Wash". What it does is makes the cost of washing clothes more balanced, as washing a pair of socks in vanilla costs the same amount of water as washing a jacket. The mod also alters the amount of water used based on the condition of the clothing. In vanilla, everything costs 10 water to wash no matter what. With this mod, if there is little blood or dirt, it might only cost 1 water to clean, whereas something thats completely coated in blood and dirt might cost much more than 10 water.

Not sure I could even play without half my mod list, I'm not an addict I swear I can quit the workshop anytime I want. But If I had to shine a light on some less known Mods that really do deserve the attention: Doctor Show & Addicted to Weight, small additions that feel vanilla & I'd miss the functionally of either, if I had to go cold turkey raw-dog vanilla. *A shiver went down my spine just thinking about that*

I really dislike Authentic Z. Here's why. I'm based in Rosewood's fire station. I had a rough day, my character is exhausted, drowsy. I can't risk a fight. I sneak upstairs, barricade the stairs, and go to sleep into my bed, leaving a dozen zombies blocked downstairs.
I wake up. I grab my trusty bat and go downstairs... And all the zombies have somehow transformed into Fire Officers overnight. Wtf?
This is what authentic Z does. It doesn't only dress up the new zombies that just spawned, it also affects the old zombies that were already there on the map... It can really break your immersion. Which i why I dislike it now.

Definitely gonna check some of these mods out. Random related question. Sometimes I get a lua error message pop up on screen. How can I figure out which mod is causing it? Also a tutorial on debug mode etc would be helpful. Been playing for several months and only dipped my toe into mods/custom maps. Thx
There's no easy way to do that unfortunately, just gotta gradually filter them out until you find the one that's causing it. Mind you, most of these errors are harmless. I've actually got a video on using debug! Give the channel videos a look :)

Personally I don't use either, but I know there's some good ones out there for crossbows. Not too sure unfortunately!
Idk any mods with bows but apocalypse machines 2 has motorcycles, and I normally use some version of kitsune's crossbow

Early 90’s rural south US, there should be a shotgun, hunting rifle, .22', pistol, and/or hunting bow in about 50% of the houses and 20% of the cars

You could actually customize Brita's Weapon Pack to your liking, reducing the spawn rates and removing certain guns from spawn locations. Also the Gun Fighter mod that comes with Brita's really overhauls the shooting mechanics of the game to make it more intuitive and less painful

Ark of the covenant mod, activating it will almost instantly kill the player, along with all present zombies. Pulling the throne of God as a kamikaze would be funny.

Idk about the nonhostile one but it did shoot the raider at least for me (i think) and also if you're planning on adding superb survivors don't forget to add subpar survivor it fixes most bugs in superb survivors

I would argue britas mod makes it realistic there is a lot of guns in rural Kentucky more than what spawn in vanilla for sure.

I just started playing PZ. I see that when you aim at zombied they become green as if they are selected. Is this a mod orca vanilla feature? When I try to shoot zombies I just aim at them with my cursor withot any form of 'selection' and I almost always miss my shots x(

You aren't the first person to tell me Brita adds too many guns, or rather, makes them too available while also making too many weird, high end guns in the game. On the latter, I agree. On the former, I don't. When gun safes, and hunting rifles, and shotguns, are available in generic homes, there will be enough guns. Gun safes should be rare, for sure.. but a fire arm under a bed or in a closet or something, shouldn't be impossible.

I don't feel like the brita mod is that unrealistic depending on the settings of the server. Like if the outbreak just happened, you'd expect to find alot more weapons just due to everyone trying to protect themselves but if it was say a couple years in, then sure

I’m pretty new to the game and love it but I’m still trying to adjust to zombies chasing me. You have no idea how many times I have just locked myself in whatever building I spawned in and hope zombies don’t hear me walking around. The first save I played through I did exactly that, until I finally decided to leave to go to a nearby house and a zombie saw me and started to run after me so I went back inside and locked myself inside the bedroom, unfortunately they broke down the door and killed me, but it was a good learning experience either way
I'm pretty new too, but I learned that just 1-5 zombies aren't that difficult to deal with. You just need to be more outgoing, and utilize strength traits and shoving zeds to the ground.

I downloaded almost all of them except the helicopter one but when I try to start a game I have the default clothe choices and if I try to start the game it says Sorry, an unexpected error occurred and it tells me to go to a file? I just got the game and have tried a few different things but idk if y’all have any ideas

Nah, this video was made before multiplayer. I can't guarantee they will all work in MP right now, but the creators are updating them and the list of working mods is growing daily.
I love the helicopter mod but god damn if it's not annoying at times. Like, every two or three days, you're getting a helicopter event, like its ALLLLLL the time, that's why I took it off of mine it became too much

Negative, usually mods require a restart unless it's a very small QOL mod.

I subscribed to all of your mods and activated all of them. I started a new world. But the game keeps getting me errors that something went wrong. Is there an easy way to find out which mod is making trouble?
It should still continue to play, but it's impossible to know unfortunately without disabling them one by one. I can't say I'm having the same issue.

Have you ever been to ky I live there and everyone I know has at least 3 guns and god knows how much ammo so I think there should be more guns especially with it being in south west KY

Have heard of this being an issue if you cross Paw Low Loot with Brita's mods, but unfortunately this video was made before the MP update and that means some of the mods may have issues until updated.
Hi! I can confirm paw low loot is currently abandoned and is causing the issue. Removing it fixed the problem and everything else works fine.
