A further detail about keys and doors: This is been sparsely tested and you are free to check it out on your own, but did you know that you can stop a house alarm from triggering if you manage to get a hold of the key to the house that has the alarm? This can be done by either luring a zombie into the house or killing the zombie that's already in it for the house key without having you to enter said house (this is provided that you have the setting "zombies trip alarms" off).
Pretty sure you can pickup microwaves without any skills or tools and use it for cooking
It says here the first link is for joining the Community Server, but it appears thats just for youtube membership. Is there a difference between the Community PZ Server and the Patreon PZ Server? Just a little turned around
Do you know how to save or know a cheat software or a mod that makes it possible to have save games and save and load ingame?
Recently my son got into PZ, I've been playing on and off since January 2015. About two days ago when we were playing, I noticed the special thanks portion of the credits I'd never noticed it before and thought it was a really cool touch. It was then that my son mentioned that the two characters on the main screen are Kate and Baldspot, I knew who they were but he also said you can see the man eating the women when the lightning flashes, I never knew that, but he was right, if you slow it down you clearly see it. It's amazing that after 8 years and with over 1000 hours in game and I still find something new, my son was too young to play the game when it first came out, but now it's one of his favorites.
I was watching someone play the first release of project zomboid and I'd heard of the reason behind Kate and Baldspot (I saw the house when looking through the pz map project but I didn't know what it was referring to), was amazing seeing the original release and how much has changed, I was trying to match the house that exists on the map to the old version but it was really difficult, it's probably not the same map now.

Amphibian sparked my interest with Zomboid, and Atomic convinced me to download it. Really cool to see the devs appreciating their content creators.

The fact is, not enough people pay content creators and reactors enough credit. It is the perfect symbiotic relationship with independent, well, anything and content creators. The independent music scene has absolutely exploded because the artists realized just how important the reactor community and those creating content around their music actually are. This can be capitalized on within the independent gaming community, too, I believe.
Same! I think I fell in love with the game from AmbiguousAmphibian, and AtomicDuck's tutorials and videos convinced me to get it.

I remember buying project zomboid because Ross Scott mentioned it in is 20 most anticipated games list back in 2015... It's crazy looking back on how much the game has progressed since then
I've probably racked up close to 500 hours playing PZ by now, and I only learnt the other day that if you take your shoes off, walking becomes more quiet. Also found out recently that if you're driving with the window down you can 'drop' items out of the car. So now I can crack open a can of spaghetti bolognaise, go for a drive and eat it on the way, and when I'm done just throw the empty can out the window.
Littering in the apocalypse
You don't need to open the window, you can just drag an drop items on the ground any time from any source, your bag, another seat, the globething (sorry, spanish speaker, cant recall the name) or your inventory
LOL I wait to throw away my cans until I'm driving so I can throw 'em out the window, something I wouldn't even think about doing IRL.

The VHS Mother's Boy is a reference to Psycho. More specifically the stabbing in the shower scene, hence the XP gain into sharp weapons.

Project Zomboid is RIFE with misinformation, so I'll always do what I can to spread the correct info and correct people :)
The fitness thing actually DOES make a difference in gains
I noticed after level 5 or so, when I could do squats for 50 minutes before getting too exhausted, it cut down to like 30 or 40 minutes
Thought that was a bug at first, because it sounds like my stamina went down instead of up
Eventually I realised however, that my character finished a single squat faster than before, so they could do more squats in less time, therefore getting exhausted faster, since you gain exhaustion per squat, not per minute
So basically, the higher your fitness, the more exp you gain per hour. You need to rest more often, as well, but it'll result in more exp per day in the end
With how mind numbingly slow those skills level, it's obviously not very noticeable

Thousands of differently modded AR-15 style rifles in like every third house, perks where people "cannot shoot with this crap" unless you start with the veteran trait ... :D
It would be such an amazing parody. :D
It propably would have a very much different dynamic.
The core features would still be the same but most of the stuff around and every story would be totally different ...
Call modders to do that as soon as it has a few more features and NPCs. :D
I play with 5x exp gain and I still find it too slow to level up

It is extremely useful as its the only way that you can have locked doors INside a building. Very useful for playthroughs where zombies can open doors and youre staying inside a large building. I always mark buildings that I pick up keys for so I can go back and collect the doorknobs. Dont want to accidentally mix them with the regular doorknobs lol
I found this out ages ago by accident, I built a gate and noticed it says “lock” and it took me a few days to actually have it dawn on me that I’d picked a key off a zed and the doorknobs from the same place to build the gate .. I make sure I tell everyone I meet in servers and discord now because so many don’t know
3:00 this used to work. There are different types of stoves. For example, toasters only allow bread, coffee maker for beverages i believe. There was one coffee maker, i think the espresso/cappucino coffee maker, still had 40 capacity and accepted anything, also weighing only 4, but like I said, I don't think these work anymore.
You can cook coffee in coffee machines for sure. My base always has one and makes it way easier to keep from burning my coffee and I just leave like 20 mugs in there warming 5hem up as I need them.
Oh yeah, cooking coffee I know, but some comments were saying you could actually use them to cook anything. So had to debunk that :)
Don't forget teas, you can add mushrooms to some drinks and with something sweet can make a dent in calorie needs. Could be good for colds?
The better exercise form does seem to help XP gain - because XP is awarded at the end of each repetition, and repetitions are completed faster with the better form and visible muscle strain
Another one which I find people always being surprised by; if you park by a fuel pump correctly you can refuel your car straight from the pump instead of putting fuel in a canister and putting it in the car that way 😂✨✨
Mhm! This one always trips people.
Thats why I always use the mod that puts an arrow on the fuel indicator. I hated having to do loops to turn my car around every time I went to the pump lol But yeah, its weird that a lot of people dont know about that. Or that you can use the V button to bring up the car menu to use the pump. Too many people Ive seen trying to find the right spot to right click to get the option to show up lol
@@SvendleBerries Vanilla cars will always have the fuel tank on the right side, but I understand the hassle of modded cars having wonky fuel tank placements.
Yeah I use car mods and I was pleased when I discovered that some of the older cars actually have their gas tank fill point at the back bumper because in the sixties and seventies that's where most cars had them in the US.
Although I have found that actually positioning the vehicle right at the pumps is a bit finicky at best. But that could be because I run about 50 mods in the game and it just makes things a bit weird at times.
That's how I assumed it worked. I only ever use gas cans as a backup fuel or for syphoning cars.
I recently just got the game and have found your videos very useful. I never bought it because of the controversy that you described. So glad a friend convinced me to take the leap.

Nice 👍🏻 The Paws info was new to me 😊 just collected some posters. Making battery connectors with electric scrap at electric lvl 5 in order to make battery powered lamps is always a great reason to build electrical skills

I started playing Zomboid, and by extension, found this channel because of Ambiguous Amphibian. It's nice to see the devs give you guys some love.
Another tip I just figured out but is probably very well known already 😅
When driving (especially fast), roll the window down to allow yourself to pan the view like you're able to when in aim mode. With the window rolled up you are unable to pan the screen and locks it in place.

Another tip from someone with 300+ hours who still plays like someone with 10 hours: walk everyone when possible! Never know when you gotta fight a bathroom horde and need more energy

In settings there's a option that makes you see an outline on whatever your aiming at it works with guns and melee weapons
This was a game changer for me.
As someone who's lost significant amounts of work a couple of times (to hard drive crashes, not theft), if your last backups are 1 month old, you actually lose less than one month, because a lot of that time was spend deciding what to do and trying out ways of doing it. And that part is mostly backed up in your brain, in real time. So (assuming you can get the equipment itself up and running quickly) it actually takes less than one month to recover from the loss of one month of work.

I have stayed with this game since the beginning, and it truly deserves any and all steam awards for "labor of love". this game has had No Man Sky levels of development issues and successes and i cannot wait until the game is complete.

I thought you'd mention the dark spot between Bob and Kate on the menu screen, it's lit up by the lightning flashes, it kind of changes the story that is told by the picture ;)

I just crossed the 900hrs played mark for this game. I know so much about this game yet eveytime I turn it on and start playing I learn something new. I truly do love this game wholeheartedly

You mentioned the panic you can get from some TV broadcasts.
There is one that I experienced where it was an ad for a talking teddybear like a push talk doll. When the teddybesr is made to talk, your character gets full panic.
I've tried to look it up to see if what I experienced was normal but nobody else seems to have asked about it either.
This makes me believe the character we play as is stupid or something as he gets panicked over a talking teddybear toy
Interesting, I didn't know about PAWS being a previous, unreleased project, but I'd always wondered what the backstory was for all the stuffed animals we found throughout the game. Now it makes sense.
I remember the stolen laptops incident, I was playing the game during that time and it was released through the game news or something.
As for Z Squad, I always figured it was a reference to the A Team since one of their tropes was a welding scene to up-armor a vehicle they would soon use in the episode.

Most obscure thing in this game I know: There is a invisible "plant" container behind the post office/government office building in lickskillet. Just walk on the path behind the building and you will see it pop up in the loot menu. Good spot to hide loot in MP.

I do enjoy AA getting a shoutout as he is the reason I even know of this game which has inspired me to make my own game.
From the very first time I played this I was blown-away by the level of detail and the thought that has been put into and continues to be put into this game. It's incredible the attention to detail the team puts into this game.
Not really a weird fact but the tv ad in the game "I love Wok and Rolls" is a parody to the song "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett. Try singing along the in game lyrics. 😂
I bet a knight in platemail would be very effective against zombies.
3:45 I remember my survivor getting panicked after watching a reporter get eaten alive on a live news broadcast. Was very cool to see.
Project Factoid!! So much interesting info here! I had no earthly idea that having spoons and forks would change the eating animations, but at the same time I'm actually not that surprised that it does! Given the sheer depth of the game and the intricate level of detail the devs go to with the more commonly experienced aspects of the game it stands to reason that every seemingly inconsequential item is there for a reason and would have a special use or effect all of it's own! 😁
I love such small details, even if it dosen't have a big effect on actual gamepplay, it's still some nice touches.
ALSO if you need an oven, you can some times find them in crates in the back of furniture stores.

The door lock mechanic is really good for when you have Lingering Reflexes mod. I will now be using this method
I wonder if the coffee machine thing is a widely-used mod or something (like common sense). Because I *know* I've heated water in coffee machines in the field to sterilize bandages.
I am pretty sure it has to do with size. I think they made it so, for instance, shotguns can't be put in glove compartments anymore. Perhaps a bowl would fit?
Unsure! I think it's likely to do with the items you put in it and their categories. Mugs work, for example.

4:03 the first time I experienced it I was veteran, so thought wow that's pretty neat.
Then went through as burglar, and all of a sudden my character was panicked lmao excellent small touches to game that make it feel "alive."
Yea I stumbled upon the coffee maker thing too noticing it had the oven interface - brought it back to my bus and set it up and couldn't put any food in it so I disassembled it for the electrical xp.
it only accepts mugs and kettles, iirc. other cups too maybe?
You can use a coffee machine for cooking. The caveat is that it doesn’t hold much. So at best you can cook coffee or tea (as is intended)
Got the game pretty recently and have been watching you vids to help learn the game. With the info and me playing I will soon be taking the game off of easy baby mode and trying a more regular mode world.😂
Get a bowl, a box of cereal, milk, and a spoon, and you can actually make a bowl of cereal. Its a very minute detail not many might notice. I only found out about it on a whim. Buuut yeah. This game is very logical. If you can do it irl, you can probably do it here.
One tip I learned by checking key bindings qas that shift is one type of running and there is a Sprint command.

I know how much a loss of data can impact productivity. I lost about a month of work on my DnD world, and it just happened to be a month where i had been picking up speed, with lots of inspiration happening. After that loss, i don't think i did a single thing within the world for half a year. It was quite devastating.

They is a home vhs tape what gives you long blunt, it's about a plumber and a house wife cleaning pipes.
I remember the break in laptop steal happening as one of the devs used to hang out on the Eurogamer forums and came on just after it happened. Was gutted for them and thought it would demoralise the devs to the stage the game might not happen. So glad it did
1st fact - you should get slight hunger increase per item ate if you use a fork.
PZ has one of the best communities out there. Glad to have watched it grow of it since the early days pre steam
Some of the best money I've ever spent, maybe next to getting Minecraft, but I got that as a gift from my buddy. Such a fun and addicting game that I've been playing and thinking about constantly since I bought it.
If you got perks that give +(x) to skill it would give xp% boost i.e. Nimble +1 = 75% xp gain, Nimble +2 = 125% xp gain.
You can "pick up" curtains with the icon bar on the left side of your screen to keep the color and looks of that curtain, but heard it weights more.
Fighting zoms when they climb over a fence/window can be dangerous when they scratch at you, so you can put a furniture right by the window and it makes them crawl.
Fitness is harder to level then Strength as Fitness mainly uses running and exercise to level, not to mention you will have a car (personal experience).
omg, I didn't know about the deep fryers! Having grown up in Tennessee(right next to Kentucky) I can attest that the south deep fries EVERYTHING. I will be making a point to swipe a deep fryer to take back to my bases now. Gotta survive an apocalypse? Well, at least your food should taste good. XD
Microwave is the best cooking gadget.
1- 0 skills 4 easy to carry low weight.
2- use less land on ur base like it can be placed over 2x crates. or can be walked over is not a baricate.
3- As Cooks faster with less power.
4- (Timer Setting works good) = if timer is good, turn on and forget. stops when finished dont burn the food.
4- Stops in case of getting items from and puting items in. Can help with preventing Brunt food.
B.s.: i only use power for icecream fridge 2 prevent foods getting rotted. But we need alternative preveserving methots for food like. Salting, smoking & sun drying. These recepies can be made by sticks and or study stiks with carpt. lvl1 basic drying rags and can ben dried. Just simmilar 2 other games like "The Forest".

If you have a shovel you can make a grave and bury bodies that way, instead of burning them. With high enough carpentry, you can make a wooden coffin and a cross. You can fish and its great to have a base by a freshwater lake or pond. Watch for twine and find the right magazine, and you can set up a net to catch baitfish. This might all be common knowledge though
3:20 The coffee machine at rosewood fire department up stairs acts as a third oven.
Bought the game 2 days ago and have already come across the laptop story. It really is everywhere
Not weird but a cool tip is during the summer make sure to have your AC on in your car, because since it is sitting outside in the heat the internal temperature is drastically hotter and will cause some moodles to appear
This increases gas usage too.
4:30 You can also find small Paws plushies, they're so cute
This is rather esoteric, but building a wall today I couldn't get my character to build from the correct side of the wall, he'd always want to jump through the frame and start from the other side. I was messing around and wondering how to google this when I rotated the build position and while that didn't visibly change anything my dude built the wall from the desired side. Dunno if this was just me being dense but there you go.

Anytime you see a guard tower and don't have tools to get in go to the top of the stairs turn around walk down 1 step, look at the wall of the guard tower and you can vault in through the walls....need to escape? Smash a window and vault back out. Also nail guns and their magazines could as a ranged weapon and help train aiming and reloading without using a firearm
I model the character after myself, so i choose veteran and gain the desensitisation perk, and i can honestly say, that priest isnt gonna stress me OR my character out lol.
Some weird ass bug I got when I jumped over a fence holding a generator was the generator fell, like it's supposed to, but you can pick it up infinitely lmao.

The cooking I a coffee pot people sound like they have either been locked up befor or worked construction (or similar labor) away from home in cheap motels lol the only 2 places I've seen that done

I’m a huge fan of games within games, I think having little simple games and maybe like a console or something we could find would be something fun to do at night when you don’t plan on leaving your safe house
@@Sentientmad9m yeah me too, I love games within games, I spent hours playing poker on red dead redemption it was so fun, would be awesome if the video game in the game allowed you to actually play a mini game, and playing that game decreases boredom.
In a sense, deep into RP, there is often a version of a Paws mini-game happening on servers where I am present. I'll leave it at that. :D

I haven't played in over about a year so not sure if they patched this. If you build a camp fire then destroy the camp fire with a sledge hammer. The fire will remain burning forever. I don't think you can cook with it, but it will light and heat an area as far as I remember. You can then build another camp fire over the flame to put it out. I used this to build torches to light the outside of my camp on one server.

WRT coffee makers - I think it's a popular mod that might add that functionality; Not about to reload PZ 1000 times to find out but I would guess Saph's cooking.
That said, why not just take a microwave? They also won't burn your house down.
Another interesting fact/bug me and my friend were watching the TVs and we got the angry Moodle from but that doesn't exist now it was an old thing from NPC's don't know if bug or feature it's happened twice

Quite useful for those that want to begin play throughs of the game.
Maybe one day that spoon becomes essential. If your hands are bloody or dirty, food eaten without utensils might make you sick or zomboned, or something like that
Nice one, even with couple hundred hours of power gaming PZ, a lot of things are new for me.
Its a bit slower but you can also use a microwave as an oven, pretty simple just slower.
Just don’t use metal.

I got this game after seeing some cool videos from a handful of people and now I’ve sunk ≈60 hours in the last two weeks and I’ve played nothing but it, still barely able to want to hold onto a playthrough past the starting town
1400+ hour player here. didnt know you could use a key and a doorknob and make a locked door. that shit is DOPE. i use the padlock built doors mod to over come this but now i will not have 2

i bought this game in 2014 and until about a month ago i had 3 hours played according to steam. every time i started to play it, i just got overwhelmed with everything and never stuck to it. so i listened to the dawn of the dead audiobook (romero wrote a novel version. it's one of the few books i've read/listened to multiple times. i'm so happy he decided to novelize dawn of the dead.) last month and it made me wanna survive a zombie apocalypse BAD, so instead of going to state of decay like i always do when the feeling hits i decided to stick to project zomboid. i've got 60 hours played now. the new zelda is out on friday and i'm definitely going to get it because i've been looking forward to it for SO LONG but...i can see myself not completely ditching zomboid. jesus what an amazing game.

This is false. You do not gain exp faster. The regime still lasts for the same time and exp ticks are at the same intervals. It is purely a faster animation.
