    Be careful, that dog’s nails can cause severe damage to the dye of that Corinthian leather. I hope you put a towel or protective cardboard down.

    I had a 84 Deville with that lovely engine. The HT4100 and the diesel hurt Cadillac for years. Beautiful cars with a crappy engine.

      Ironically the diesel is better…. At least it had some decent hardware to use on a conversion.

    Matt, I love these cars as much,if not more,as you do and I’m highly anticipating your swap on this one. By the way, you should wear that hat everyday!

    I think the wider stainless strip over the windshield slows the 85 down due to drag and weight 😅

    • @gm-classics
      @gm-classics  8 месяцев назад

      On that little of power, you can certainly make a case of that!

    Hello Matt! I bought a white 1984/85 Eldo Biarritz Conv from you around 2012 and had it shipped to me in Miami. You picked my wife and I up at the Ritz in Dallas. Remember? Nice to see you again.

    I had a 79' 350 Toronado many years ago. It only needed light valve work on one of the heads so I sold it. I wish I still had it today since it is my favorite model of the 3. I love the Riviera next and the Eldorado is my last choice. (No reason, only a matter of taste.) All 3 cars are exactly the same underneath. Oh, and an honorable mention to the bustleback Caddy Seville, I also like that one. It is a cousin of the other three.

    • @gm-classics
      @gm-classics  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yea few 350 gas toro/rivs survive today because they drove so decent people used them up…. The 350 olds 79 eldo survives some but the bendix injection is anemic and tended to over wear the engines due to the high start idle revving. And if you ethanol gas the bendix, more than likely you will burn the car to the ground. Cadillac was “trying” fuel injection, and it’s somewhat infancy, but mostly similar to today with electric cars. The buyers were the guinea pigs. The 350 4bbl toro/riv was mechanically superior to the cadillac in terms of durability, performance and all out drivability due to its lack of fuel injection.

    What tires are on the red one ?
    I will never understand why Mitchalin stopped making white walls. There are so many older cars that would look so much better. Can you imagine these two with out them 😱

    • @gm-classics
      @gm-classics  8 месяцев назад

      225/70 15’s. 1.5” white wall. These are galaxy tires. Although they look ok, they are not good due to the white wall going brown almost before your eyes. Have to custom build a good set through diamond back. The eldo convertibles came with goodyear polysteel 225/70 15 1.5” white walls. Unobtainium now but that is the size and look you want.

  • @sauluribe7082
    @sauluribe7082 8 месяцев назад +2

    YES! Put a bigger engine in on these cars like they're suppose to have. Chuck out that pathetic 4.1.

    Shame they don't have parade boots like the 71-76 did. The lumpy cover in the back looks like crap!

    • @gm-classics
      @gm-classics  7 месяцев назад +1

      It looks even worse when it’s not on!! I think it’s about all they could do. The old fiberglass parade boots were excellent, but she also also have to remember that very few of those cars actually had those too. It’s just the people today that have improved the care and maintenance of the rose colored glasses cars that make the fiberglass parade boot more popular.

    Unsafe at every speed?
    Best part of the car may be its horn. That was unexpected. Beautiful though

      @gm-classics  7 месяцев назад

      Yes the most powerful part of these cars are the horns! 4 of them

  • @stephenlacher587
    @stephenlacher587 8 месяцев назад

    Think I would go with putting a 4.9 instead of a 403 in the '85. Much simpler, should basically bolt right up. Much better engine than the 4.1 and you can get some decent power out of it. Would still be fairly 'stock'.

    • @gm-classics
      @gm-classics  8 месяцев назад

      You could. But no torque, not really a good engine overall for car this size.

    • @stephenlacher587
      @stephenlacher587 8 месяцев назад

      Results wouldn't be comparable but would be a lot easier.@@gm-classics

    • @gm-classics
      @gm-classics  8 месяцев назад

      Yes easy for just a “repair” engine fix is to put a 4.9 block and heads under the tbi setup…. That would be easiest and net a 15% or so improvement as its still tbi..now if you wanted to 91 4.9 port inject it, i would say that would be a much harder endeavor vs putting an olds small block platform in the car… of which it was originally designed for

    • @stephenlacher587
      @stephenlacher587 8 месяцев назад

      I appreciate your input. I believe these Edoardos may be one of, not the, most beautiful cars ever. Would like to get one of the convertibles, but as you've said, performance is intolerable. Had a '90 Fleetwood with a 4.9, it was adequate. open to options.@@gm-classics

    • @rafaelfiallo4123
      @rafaelfiallo4123 7 месяцев назад +1

      The 4.9 is really only set up for transverse installation, not sure how you would make it work on these where the engine still sits north/South like a RWD car. The Olds motor should be fairly easy since these had an Olds motor available in them.

    The worst engine ever. The HT 4100. Is junk. If you want a Eldorado. Don't buy any Eldorado from 1980-1985- buy a 1979 Eldorado it has the 350.eng

      Wrong. 1980 has the 368 w/DFI and 1981 has the 368 w/V864 DFI. Both are GREAT engines!

    These cars are as pretty as they are slow...which makes them BEAUTIFUL cars! I bought an '84 Biarritz back in the day and LOVED that car but hated it at the same time because of that worthless engine.
