Originally released in December 1954. My guess is, at that time, Famous Studios decided that Katnip would be seen only in his joint appearances with Herman- and, due to increased production costs and a "soft" market for theatrical cartoons, also terminate the "Buzzy" series. For his final cartoon, "Katnip" was drawn slightly different, but it IS the same charcater and voice [Sid Raymond]. Jackson Beck is, of course, Buzzy and "Dr. Nicotine".
Excuse me. "Continuity" was not a "new thing." It was realized in live action in spite of errors that can be found due to modern day awareness. With reference to cartoons, characters always evolve and reinvent themselves to fit the needs of the picture, efficiency of production, and style of the times.
Buzzy could always be counted on to sooner or later say,"Thas' all I need to know,"while Katnip generally could be expected to say,"That sounds logical."

That cat's name is Katsy, according to a children's book I had as a kid about Buzzy.
Stephen Treadwell actually, it’s Katnip, as established in the cartoons he starred in with Herman the Mouse.
