- I found a beautiful 1982 196 Aquasport I decided to rebuild and restore. I enjoy rebuilding old boats for my own personal use and decided to try and film myself through the process.

Where did you get that rear motor platform or did you make it yourself
I ve always heard that Aqua sport hulls from the 80s are the best.
We need an update on the Aquasport build. I’m eying one currently.

Im slowly chipping away at it. After January 31 my weekends will be wide open to work away and have it ready for the summer. Ive been itching to get back out on the water!

Aquasport boat manufacturing was my first laminating job. I probably worked on this boat back in the day. Do remember that all we had back then was wood, so the transom and all the stringers are made of fiberglass covered wood. But I will tell you that Aquasport won 13 years in a row the quality control and fit and finnishing award of the original saltwater sportsmanship industry. Just saying. Excellent bay and inshore hull. And not to bad in open ocean up to 5-6 ft seas. We would sea trial them all the way to Bimini and back.
Too cool! appreciate you sharing. I grew up on my dads 1987 196. I always loved the ride and look of it. Im at a stand still at the moment while my wife finds work again. Once she does I plan on finishing the build. I don't have much left to do but drop the tank in, run some gas lines and wires. Find or build a seat and work on the trailer.
