  • I had a Gastric Bypass on December 1, 2020 at Mexico Bariatric Center in Tijuana Mexico. I'm a little late because there is SO MUCH going on in my life right now - surgery was just the cherry on top - but here is an update on how the first two weeks post-op have gone. Learning how to re-eat and to re-wire my brain have been the biggest challenges, but overall my recovery has been amazing. I'm learning so much and feel so good about my decision to move forward with this surgery and change my life.

I am 8 days post op for RNY surgery, I have told my husband, it’s weird because I’m not hungry but my love of food is still there, so to see foods I love and smell them is strange

I love this video. I just had my surgery almost 2 weeks ago and I feel my 2 week journey is similar to yours.

Thank you! I'm so glad I did weekly updates, so much happens in such a short amount of time after surgery!

I am 2 weeks post-op today, and I only discovered that I was allergic to soy after surgery when they had me switch from dairy due to reflux. I always naturally avoided soy products for some reason, and now I understand why. As for aversions... I can't seem to stand any brand of protein powder at all. They all have a funky smell and smell. I have always had a heightened sense of smell, but following surgery, it has been magnified. I cannot tolerate anything cream based, so my diet for the first two weeks has consisted of only, Jell-O, broth, water, and tea. I was excited to be able to start on cream of wheat today.

Broth was all I could tolerate for a few days. I've added powerade and herbal tea. Plain water hits my pouch like a rock😢

I can only drink my water with lemon in it. I relate to the salt in the drinks.

I dont know if you've learned by now, but I was told the water intolerance is due to too high of acid levels. Its a concern of mine with my upcoming surgery, since I have it now

Water first thing in the morning makes me a bit nauseous, and I haven’t had surgery. I’ve mentioned it to my doctor but she shrugged it off. Thanks for the update!

That's so strange. Is it anything you drink first thing in the morning, or just water? I wonder why that could be.

Really appreciate your video, I’m in post op day 2 and I’m already tired of broth 🫤. I feel like the 0 sugar Gatorade is more sugary 🤷‍♀️. I thought this was just me 😮

I do not plan to weigh myself at all have to see doctor at 1 week out and 30 days out why bother. I have seen 0 people who follow the plan not hit goals easy. its all about dedication and not cheating on the tool.
