Hi! I work as a PSW in Canada and it is crazy how people can communicate with each other. I have many residents who are not using “traditional” language, but once you spend more time with them, some kind of energy is being created and it feels like you can kind a read their eyes and face expressions. I tell everyone to go and volunteer at nursing or long term home… it is such a rewarding experience 😊
He’s so incredible at what he does and it’s really helped me learn how best to interact with people of different ability levels. I also think Chris has equally beautiful soul and face and that makes him very easy to get along with!!
Put the baby in the crib. Put her in the crib, shut the door, and walk away. Doesn’t matter if there’s no one else to watch her. My mama saved my life by locking me in my room and taking a twenty-minute walk outside. I had colic and neither of us had slept for days. She was this close to shaking me. Instead she put me somewhere safe, in my crib in a childproofed room. Didn’t ever shake me. Don’t let anyone call you a bad parent for putting your child in a safe place and walking away.
Both my children had severe colic. It was a nightmare. Days without sleep and my heart was starting to weaken from it. It lasted for 3 years straight, but the crying spells continued on and off. They both ended up with non-verbal Autism. The vacuum had to be turned on all hours of the night to keep them calm. Then we switched to white noise (rain and thunder sounds). I think it may be genetic because their father was the same way. A colicky baby can stop your heart lol.
seriously!!! I was looking at his teeth. I zoomed in because I had a child who suffered an anoxic brain injury. It's one of those things about caretakers I notice. Look how clean and well taken care of his teeth are. Skin so nicely moisturized, hair trimmed. He looks so well cared for and loved. Praises go to his mom for all the care and attention. She is doing one amazing job.
Hearing her description of what he looked like in the hospital made my heart drop into my stomach. Shame on CPS for letting it get that far. Deep open sores wasn't enough to sway them? It boils my blood because CPS failed my Mom and younger siblings too. My 3 siblings were taken from their Dad and his abusive wife. Instead of giving them to my Mom who's SAFE and who FOUGHT to have custody, they put all 3 of them in the system. One of them wound up SAed by their foster, one was driven to hurt themselves and had to be flown to a mental health facility, and the other one is now so angry and violent but he won't talk about what happened. Wheres the criminal charges for THOSE people? Where's the JUSTICE?

People underestimate how developed a 5 month old is. They understand vibes, when someone is being nice or mean, etc. they have likes and dislikes. So Jacah absolutely understands people around him! And the good vibes in that room
When I see something like this I have to confess myself that I don't understand life at all. In this world we are living in and see what we see every day, a step grandma tells this story with an absolutely humble way as if she did an average thing and lived an average life. The only thing I don't question is that people are at different level. I just don't know why.
I cried and cried watching this. I hope the man that did this to Jacah sees this video because that man deserves a life sentence, not a 20-year plea deal. Jacah is beautiful.
What a blessing Jachah is! The innocence in his eyes is precious. Everything about him says “love”. His mom is such a wonderful woman. His smile is worth more than gold! What a light he has in that smile. God bless his momma. I’ve never understood why people hurt babies, it doesn’t make sense to me, if a baby is crying, hurting him more isn’t going to make him stop crying.
the abuse of any child is unfathomable, let alone a beautiful infant like Jacah was at the time of his assault :( 💔 thank you, Cris, for continuing to spread awareness.
She remembers every date, this is what a momma does love through everything, passion in everything, and advocacy through it all. It's all done out of love, just because she loves him. The hospital calling her every time when he was admitted, they were meant to be together.
Anyone that ever gets angry at a baby and thinks shaking the infant is the answer should watch this. God bless this woman for being this kid's care taker she truly is an amazing human being ❤
I’ve cared for 2 different children in a respite/volunteer capacity (under 2 years) in foster care who have Shaken Baby Syndrome. One I met only once, and the other I have had the wonderful opportunity to be with once a month these past 3 months. It’s very upsetting to see what happened to those two little boys, but they’re both incredibly lovely, and seeing Jacah as an adult living a good life and knowing love gives me hope for those two children. Thank you.
❤Although I've done foster care a couple of times, I feel like anyone who is able to do respite or hospite or volunteering, especially with children are angels on earth...thank you❤
It was great to see Jacah enjoying the music with Chris. He was very animated. Really nice interactions between Chris and Jacah. I am so sorry Stacy and Jacah have had to endure such traumatic medical experiences with the paramedics and hospitals.
It is sad what happened to him but I'm just overjoyed how loving grandma is to him. What a blessing. And a handsome young man he is😊❤❤❤ I have cerebral palsy myself. And God bless the both of them 🙏🏾
I'm blown away at how incredible Jacah's mother is - she is absolutely incredible and an force to be reckoned with. It's very clear that Jacah knows what is going on.
I cannot comprehend how any other human could inflict such trauma and pain upon another human never mind a defenceless little baby! I am so sorry this happened but so blessed he has the support and love he’s always deserved! ❤️
He was eating up every compliment that Chris gave 😭🥹 his smile is contagious. His grandmother is truly an angel 🙏 Chris thank you for everything you do and giving rhese wonderful people a platform to sgare their story!
This is so heartbreaking to see.. I wish all parents or caregivers would reach out for help to avoid this. I'm glad that he has a caregiver who genuinely wants the best for him and removed him from an abusive situation.
Because at the time they probably felt foster care parents with "training" would do better... And it also varies from state to state. They have now expanded to include non blood relations and even close friends of the family before going to foster care. I think it s important to remember CPS is only humans and they have a lot of laws and procedures... And they DID place him with her...
I don't know about Texas, but my state the grandparents have no rights. My parents got extremely lucky to get my niece at fourteen months old. We can never get back that first birthday spent in foster care, that first Christmas spent with her mother's relatives... but she's twelve now, and thriving, and been with my parents 11 years. I'm just so glad she's not had to endure such abuse. I'm so glad Jacah has such a fierce, protective advocate of a mama looking out and taking care of him. It's also even more beautiful that she considered him her grandson from day one despite acknowledging here that he was technically her ex-husband's daughter's baby. My dad, too, isn't my niece's grandpa by blood, but nobody better tell him that, or especially her -- he's the man she's called "Dad" since she could talk, and he wears that title as proudly as he did when I was a kid. My brother, her blood dad was, and always will be, daddy to her, and he respected and accepted that she could call my dad (his stepdad) "Dad" and him "Daddy" at the same time. Anyway, it's beautiful when family is just love, simple as that, and that's clearly the case here.
There was a moment Jacah was looking into Chris' eyes while Chris was telling him how attentive he is, and they both looked into each other's eyes and you can tell so obviously that he's trying his best to communicate his thoughts, and that he's trapped in the body his abusers left him with. His Mama is the most courageous and empathetic soul for the pure love and fight in her heart that has singlehandedly brought them through so much of their journey together. She and Jacah make this planet an infinitely better place to live, and so does Chris. There is hope for humanity.
I remember watching these when I was in middle school and being so inspired by your videos, and a few weeks ago I graduated from college with my degree in special education and now am working as a teacher with children with severe disabilities ❤
Jacah you are a treasure!! And your Mama is an angel for protecting and loving you so fiercely. Bless you, sweet woman, and the life you have given this precious child of God.
From the first time I heard of shaken baby syndrome, I have wondered what the outcome of sbs for the surviving infant is. This was a much needed interview, Chris. Thank you for this interview.
This mom is such a champion for her son! It’s inspiring. Navigating the healthcare system as a foster and adoptive parent is such a headache plus just the CPS family court process. I can’t imagine trying to do all that while parenting an infant with high needs as a single mom. Inspiring family!
Oh Jacah!!! Thanks to you , on this freesing cold, snowy day in Toronto Canada, I am smiling the biggest smile ever. Smiling so big, my cheeks hurt! You and your beautiful Mama are so special ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for sharing your story.

I pray for GOOD things for Jacah and Stacy! He surely loves his Momma and boy oh boy did he have love for you Chris!! His smile was SO big when you were talking to him!!! I'm so glad she reached out to you. Everyone should see this story. Every single person!!
His smile lit up when you spoke to him! You have such a gift and thank you for understanding all these kiddos and adults when it comes to their disabilities. You are a true gift! ❤😊✌🏻🙏🏼
Bless his mother for stepping up and being an amazing parent. I can't believe that anyone would hurt him! She understands him so well ❤ God bless you, Jacob and your family!
Put the baby in the crib and go outside. I had a colicky baby and it was so difficult. I had to. I would never hurt him. That's why I had to walk away. It's not a bad thing. ❤ Take a break. Jacah is so happy with Mama.
Omg, I know he's in there just from his smile. His smile is so contagious. I hate that his chances to experience life the way most people can have been taken away from him. I hate that he was surrounded by evil people. I'm grateful that he is being taken care of now by an amazing woman.
As a mom, this is so hard to hear. Had to pause video at 3:12 because hearing how injured the poor baby was was making me feel so bad. I am so sad for this family. How can someone hurt a baby. They are so beautiful and innocent. 20 years in jail sentence is too short for the abuser.
You know how to connect. My Nano has a form of leukodystraphy but he’s living his greatest life ! I fought for my baby and he’s amazing ! God is doing amazing things in the world

I’ve never understood why people hurt babies, it doesn’t make sense to me, if a baby is crying, hurting him more isn’t going to make him stop crying.
Grandmother.
@@wmaldenright, but she’s also calling him his son
the abuse of any child is unfathomable, let alone a beautiful infant like Jacah was at the time of his assault :( 💔 thank you, Cris, for continuing to spread awareness.
Love his smile and it’s obvious that Jacah understands when you’re talking to him, he’s facial expression and body movements are clear signals.
Grandma is GORGEOUS!!!! She is such an amazing woman!!❤
What a valuable public service message! Just walk away. Take a break. But NEVER shake a baby. Much love to Jacah and Grandma💙
I always tell new moms, it's okay to take a break. Don't feel gulity, we can't do it all.
Jacah definitely understends, his facial expressions communicate really well. So handsome. Lots of to you and your amazing mom.
she is an incredible human being, her perseverance for Jacah is amazing
Poor Jacah, he didn’t deserve this 😔
She remembers every date, this is what a momma does love through everything, passion in everything, and advocacy through it all. It's all done out of love, just because she loves him. The hospital calling her every time when he was admitted, they were meant to be together.
The joy on his face when the song played!
His mom is amazing. Such a huge advocate, telling the medical staff to do their jobs, asking questions, etc. Love Jacah's smile. What a great guy.
That’s a mama that loves her baby , no matter what
I think Jacah's love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation. Those combined make him beam with joy.
Anyone that ever gets angry at a baby and thinks shaking the infant is the answer should watch this. God bless this woman for being this kid's care taker she truly is an amazing human being ❤
Wow! He smiles and nods when you talk to him! He definitely understands!
His Mom is right he's in there and he understands at a certain level. He's just locked in. Love her strength.
God bless Jacah and his wonderful “Grandmother”!
She’s been his guardian angel and medical advocate since day one, there is a special mansion in Heaven for the two of them ❤️
This mother is an angel
Grandmother.
@@wmaldenparent. ❤ shes his real mother.
The Grandma is amazing and such a strong lady. I love your hair Grandma!
Jacha, you are an amazing young man. Never lose that beautiful smile!
This is a wonderful woman. God bless them both.
Why, why, why would they not give this grandmother custody immediately after the aunt couldn't care for him
Because at the time they probably felt foster care parents with "training" would do better... And it also varies from state to state. They have now expanded to include non blood relations and even close friends of the family before going to foster care. I think it s important to remember CPS is only humans and they have a lot of laws and procedures... And they DID place him with her...
Because CPS is a very broken corrupt system.
@@seamarie3111 wow! Amazing 😍 . In Oregon grandparents have rights...but I know it s different state to state. So happy for your family
@@grimbb9358 CPS is broken and corrupt
I love Jacah's smile as he responds back. So cool to see!
His Mama has incredible wisdom. Thank you for introducing us to these two sweet people!💜💙
Grandmother.
His mother is a literal angel on earth. They have the sweetest relationship. What an honor to meet these two.
Jacah you are a treasure!! And your Mama is an angel for protecting and loving you so fiercely. Bless you, sweet woman, and the life you have given this precious child of God.
Grandmother.
Hearing how tiny he was and what he went through, just made my heart ache. I’m so glad that he has his incredible grandmother. ❤
From the first time I heard of shaken baby syndrome, I have wondered what the outcome of sbs for the surviving infant is. This was a much needed interview, Chris. Thank you for this interview.
God cover this mother with Grace and give her strength when she is tired. Our hearts are so full of love for him
What an incredible pair…. This is what unconditional love truly is.
Grandmother.
This made me cry I’m so happy he’s safe with his grandmother, some stories have good endings😢💗
Mama, you are pure love walking around in a body. I can see your baby understands everything being said, and he knows he is precious and loved. Well done, dear lady.
Awe what a nice gentleman! Good job grandma/mom raising him! I want to be friends with him too! Thanks Chris for letting me meet Jacah!
This young man has such a strong will to live, I'm so impressed that he's beaten so many odds.
I hope he lives a long happy life. And I love his dimples! :D
I pray for GOOD things for Jacah and Stacy! He surely loves his Momma and boy oh boy did he have love for you Chris!! His smile was SO big when you were talking to him!!! I'm so glad she reached out to you. Everyone should see this story. Every single person!!
Grandmother.
@@wmalden Yes I know that however she was referred as his Momma many times and for all intents and purposes she IS his Momma. She is his everything!
His smile lit up when you spoke to him! You have such a gift and thank you for understanding all these kiddos and adults when it comes to their disabilities. You are a true gift! ❤😊✌🏻🙏🏼
He is really well taken care of. Sending all our love!
Those dimples! That smile is amazing.😊
Jacah 💯 understands what's being said and going on around him ! What a loving grandmother ! 💗
This woman embodies true and genuine love. I have no words. ❤
Jacah's smile IS contagious! 😁😁
20 years in jail sentence is too short for the abuser.
i did too, it made me so angry I actually cried. The man that did that to him deserves life in prison
You know how to connect. My Nano has a form of leukodystraphy but he’s living his greatest life ! I fought for my baby and he’s amazing ! God is doing amazing things in the world
Jacah I’m so sorry us humans failed you , by Gods glory you finally have a beutiful mother ❤
In heaven there will be no pain , no sadness , you will be able to run and talk with Father God .
Thank you for sharing this powerful story ❤ Gob bless everyone.
I love watching sbsk I have autism and IDD and take care of my mom with stage 4 brain cancer would love to be. Interviewed by u Chris and share my story And it’s My Dream to meet the true love family and thank them for making a impact on my life
That was the most precious thing to see Jayca's reaction to the music... How sweet and blessed for this young man to be loved and cared for by a sweet lady.
