Wish to see your "how to" on ice gauntlet soon. I'm planning on building an Int+Con focused heavy armor ice gauntlet build with Warhammer for increased "GET OFF ME" CC build, mostly for PvE. Would love to see your opinion if you ever try your hands on one.
Meh I tried it. And warhammer was just always too slow. Always getting dodged or hit by enemy before I can land attack. Hatchet + Ice gauntlet absolutely wipes enemies tho and you can heal so much. I’m level 58 with 8k HP and 290 INT with Medium Armor. I can dodge 3x and each dodge gives me 10 mana. Plus I get 10% dmg and 10% CC length from medium armor.
Grit is the bane of spear users. How would you use a spear in wars with the current meta? The secondary weapon has a great impact on the answer so let's say I want to move away from the bow/musket which are sometimes unreliable in my hands. I'm obeying my commander's orders but I feel like he's sending me on suicide missions.
great video been enjoying the spear with the bow but im thinking about going back to musket not enjoying hitting arrows on people and spear doesnt always feel good but im working on it and in pve its great locking down mobs using skills and chaining combos is super fun and effective for solo players. hyped for more vids glhf
Better get the sweep in and replace with bleed. The constant cooldown reset enables you to just pull up to 5 mobs. Sweep, dodge, apply rend, dodge, vault kick, dodge, sweep, 2 light attacks dodge rend, dodge vault kick, it's like constant cc
I think what the OP is missing from explanation is that rend (perforate) applies a damage buff of 30% (!!!) for the whole party. With a bleed and continuous critting will keep it up.
Good descriptions of the abilities, and explanations for your choices. I'd love to see some gameplay using this build to show the most effective way to use it. Good builds are only good if you use them correctly.
I use bow as main with spear(only when someone is close) use sweep (fully up graded and the perk that adds bleed on a piece of amour) perforate & vault kick. PvP combo usually goes vault kick into perforate or vault sweep perf
I am going spear and bow, but considering spear and hatchet. What would be better? Would hatchet make me less useful cause the points i have to put into strenght?
Bow is the pairing with spear start of fight open with Rain of arrows poison arrow. in do your rotation perforate skewer vault, light attack until next ability is ready. Rince repeat until rain of arrows and poison is ready to be applied again. Get armor with bleeed ticks faster. This is the highest ST pve dps build you can get. The second highest would be using greataxe where you get some cleave and execute and switch on cds. Thing is for ST the spear the deals the most damage in the game period, there is nothing that comes close. so if you pair in pve dps a spear the other weapon will ONLY Be switched to use its abilities apply debuffs/buffs. Then you go back to spear. rapier and greataxe is the best pairing with the most focused melee. Bow is great if you want to have some distance but less cleave and more ST dps and you can go out and deal damage on lets say a boss that has a mechanic u gotta stay away from boss for X amount of time. If you want to deal the most ST dps in the game, you do not go hatchet i repeat, hatchet is horrible for dps st compared to the spear, the spear is 100% getting nerfed or changed within due time. Becuse we are talking about 50-75% more damage per second from spear to hatchet. Thats how big diffrence there is as of now. However spear is really weak in pvp, unless you keep it with bow to defend yourself against melee but honestly i would rather go rapier for more kiting dodge and bleed abilities. than the spear, also worth noting is spear has one of the longest cast animations in the game wich punishes you perforate is ONLY used in a 1v1 after a succesful vaultkick.
@@michaelreynolds6981 that I'm not sure, if bleed is considered a debuff then I'd assume yes since it just says debuffs last longer.then again bleed, rend, slows all on spear would kinda make it super broken if they lasted longer lol

skewer 20% empower on crit is where its value is, also you can get weaken on hit on skewer so you can apply 3 debuffs yourself for 30% more damage then you basically only use skewer to keep up the empower buff on crit and keep light attacking
Cou de gras or however it’s spelled is a must, solo play it’s free damage, and team play it’s a free 1 second that the enemy can’t move and your team can maul them
Not only it isnt a must, its a perk to avoid. If you miss you are too open, and during the time it takes to perform coup de gras you can do more damage by simpling jabbing a few times before they get up. Overall you are better without it, its just flashy.

Finally, someone else who doesn't sleep on the bleed for weapons.
I’ve been playing rapier/spear since the beginning and bleed has to be the best dot imo.
