Bow you really want evasive tactics, and poison shot is extremely good in PVE, you either go double dot or triple dot build, so it's a choice between rapid shot and explosive shot respectively.
good video, but flail has more than one taunt... Barrage is actually pretty good because you can use to rush through mobs and reposition yourself while taunting them. I'm not saying I'd take it over sword and shield typically though... sometimes I've used it over hammer in offhand. That's just me though... and I haven't played since a month or two after rise released. Also, I've run flail as my main weapon when healing mutations. I swapped over to lifestaff to pop off the heals and then went back to flail. I know it's not standard, and it's a lot more dangerous because you're in melee range with everyone else, but it was a lot more fun for me than standard lifestaff builds.
Void blade and ice gauntlet is the best option for leveling. Storm, spike, oblivion, void blade deal a lot of aoe dmg in pve at the beginning. At the same time, you can take the life staff and raise its level a little to join the queue in the dungeon as a healer, this greatly reduces the time in the queue in the dungeon and gives a few bonuses. Also, the life staff is great for complex solo content, it will help beginners.
Musket has been absolutely destroying people on EU as of late. The patch notes from this morning said that they adjusted the rate at which target lock tracks along with a couple of other things. I could go on and on and on about the negatives and positives of target lock but just know I personally dislike it.
SnS + blunderbuss is my go to comb, SnS sustained and damage pair with bursting dmg from blunderbuss to finisih it off, make me kinda like bruiser but with dmg to punish/finish off opponent, highly recom ❤
New to the game and still sat on my first character archetype choice. I'm aware you can use anything but I'm trying to have a good start. I loosely heard flail and shield, and maybe greatsword or greataxe/hammer? Love tanking but damage would be good.
Spear SnS can be a nasty combo especially for all the stuns you can combo between the weapons. So if you're the type to take a 1v1 in the heat of the battle that's what I would recommend. Although for large scale zerg PvP there can be better options such as GA/WH which has been a staple of the game since launch.
Good video. I'm a returning player (its been a while) and new subscriber. Any videos or recommendations to videos dealing with current builds especially given the skill changes showing up in the PTR Open Beta? I'm not finding much in the way of current content. Builds are outdated and point distributions don't take into account the new 725 gear scores. Many of the old websites are gone, too.
@herolex782 unfortunately there are very few New World creators making updated guide content at the moment. I was originally going to make some in depth build videos but with all the changes coming oct 15th they might as well of been as good as "theory crafts" if I were to make them. As of right now the only updated website is nwdb. You can select the "open beta" tab and it'll show you all the new things but other than that we're not working with much at the moment :(
Nice vid to get a refresher for returning players too. I'm curious how flail interacts with shield. If pair it with SnS and get any buffs from shield like fortify from the shield rush, do the buffs expire on weapon swap like they do with other weapons or do they stay, because I keep the shield when using flail?
Sorry for getting back to you so late. The archetypes are just what you start out with! You can play whatever you would like at any point. The archetypes are just the two weapons you walk onto the island with :)
@pokemonie131 Hatchet for PVE I would personally pair it with Spear for it's utility. PvP it's really up to you. Personally I would pair it with greatsword.
The hatchet can also be used for tanking, so it can be used with a shield and a sword, keep in mind this possibility. In general, look at the attributes on which the damage of the weapon depends and choose what you like best! The hatchet scales better from strength and a little worse from dexterity.
I wish there were more abilities or morphs to each ability per weapon. This would help big time with more unique builds and build choices. Coming from nine years of ESO, it just seems to have a very small amount of choice. If Im missing something, please let me know.
This video is just touching the surfact of comabt in new world. There are artifacts and mods that change all of these weapons in different unique ways. This guide was just a small breakdown of what it has to offer. Trust me when you reach endgame there is almost too many options in my opinion.
Hi I am wondering how long does it take to level up a weapon? Can weapons easily be switched out? I want some kind of dps guild for levelling and pvp, ideally something like greatsword/blunderbuss seems fun, but I would like to heal in group dungeons at some point and level lifestaff. Is it easy to just switch out a weapon and how long do i need to grind that weapon for it to become viable in group play? Do most people focus on one build or are there a lot of people in end-game that run multiple builds?
Weapon XP is earned via defeating enemies. Some of the best routes in the game can allow you to fully max out a weapon in about an hour or so. Once you have it maxxed you can spec the weapon for however you like whenever you like. The weapons being "viable" or not is depending on whether or not you have the gear for it with the right attributes. By end game most people have a plethera of different builds to do whatever they would like. PvP, healing tanking dps the limits are endless. Yes it's super easy to just switch out a weapon.

Take off bow. (I'm kidding). Go 350 dex at a minimum. Consider taking the 50 int passive. Make sure you have leeching flurry and omnidirectional evade on armor. The rest is up to you and how often you intend on using bow.

I feel like playing this re release on my main wouldnt be very fun. I wanna play on the brand new servers with all of the console players. Playing the revamped story in it's entirety, and grinding for all the gear I once had back again. New companies on new servers full of aspiring console players and returning PC players sounds like a blast. In all honesty there isnt a whole lot of brand new content to experience as a max lvl player with this upcoming release. But there is so much content you miss out on by not levelling a new character.

@@VanePlaysNW I agree with you but only because the crit affix it has doesn't work or at least it no longer works the way it did. Cuz I mean what it used to allow you to do is have nearly 100% crit chance for 10 seconds without investing anywhere else.

This is an awesome weapons guide, My wife and I are going to play Aeternum on Xbox S/X when it comes out and know next to nothing about this game. I think since Black Myth Wukong is not coming to Xbox any time soon, so I think I'll make a Roleplaying themed one in the game. Spear and Great Axe looks like it might be a great way to go for Monkey King, And my wife will go as a healing Kitsune so Healing Staff and Void Gauntlet. Not sure if you will be doing Attributes Points videos in the future but was thinking about strength and dexterity for Spear/Great Axe and my wife will go with Focus and Intelligence for Healer/ Void Gauntlet. ?? @@apexplayer868 Target lock isn't new. It was added over a year ago on the steam deck version of new world. I'm assuming that what we saw in beta of it working in PvP was as bug. Also they changed the aim assist from what I could tell in the beta and made it a little bit stronger and that would be good enough for controller users. If AGS is listening to their community scream at the top of their lungs right now, and they leave target lock enabled in PvP. Then that's how they want their game to play. And there's nothing we can do about it.

You're off base on fire staff damage. Fire staff damage is the highest in the game for PVP it's not close. For PVE fire staff is still high especially in certain encounters due to its low cd's and constant uptime on dumping burst abilities and DoT stacking. The new artifacts coming to the game are also very Elemental dmg boost based and Fire staff for some reason will be made even stronger. Its currently imbalanced as it is.
Hihi! At the beginning of the Video I said I was only going to be talking about PVE. Nothing I said here was in relation to PVP at all ❤ Also it's inability to scale with multiple attributes makes it's dps quite low compared to other 5 con options. Easily out dps'ed by GS, Rapier, Hatchet, and even spear. I said " to me" for a reason. It's mid. It might be "good" in Genesis or something but this weapon is outshined by others in the other 10 dungeons. It's not good for sandworm, and I don't think it'll be good for the upcoming raid either.

not a pure tank but enough to tanking some damage in pvp, and not pure dps but enough to finish off some melee dps

Can you explain to me the life steal of the hatchet? cause i love the thing but i dont see the life steal happening.
The passive Beserking Refresh in the hatchet tree grant's 5% lifesteal to all attacks used while beserk is active. Hope that helps!

Yes the game is cross play you can play on the same server! Currently on steam if you want all the content I would advise getting the Elysian Edition.

But... Vault Kick is amazing. You just have to aim. Only issue is, the crit setup needs to be reworked with Vault Kick since it never worked properly.

Some have a skill gap like GS takes longer to strike so a noob could get overwhelmed with certain enemy types
