- I tried everything we were told to do to get rid of that hideous noise coming out of our brakes. It’s like a cat was dying every time I got to a stop sign or red light.
I didn’t know what embarrassment meant until I experienced this issue new out of the box.
I put the cotter pin in the wrong way. The hoop side should be towards the outside of the caliper and other end facing the spokes.
I honestly don’t know why I didn’t think to remove the adapter plates and caliper as a single assembly from the frame altogether (two Allen screws in the yellow frame). Doing it that way may be even easier! Theoretically, it wouldn’t require realigning the caliper to the rotor.

Replacing the pads on a RipRacer has been an absolute nightmare for me. I bought one in August 2023, and believe me, the problem with Shimano pads not fitting is still well present. Took me an hour of carving with pliers to make enough space.

i just got the pads from Amazon NO ISSUE changing the pads no having to grind or trim the new pad very easy spring and assembly slid right in just perfect and mine is the LOGAN thank you again again found the Shimano B03S pads on AMAZON
He is saying it is the B01S pads. But you're saying the B03S pads? Which one is it?
Or are they literally the same pads? Cause when I look it up with the B01S the photos on Amazon show it the B03S.
Thank you for this video..my new pads arrive tomorrow yea! Got drimmal tools ready soon no squeal! I even tried a brake cleaner spray that supposed to stop the squeal it does for short period. Such a pain!!!
Sure! Yeah, I tried cleaning and all the DIY methods that RUclips likes to recommend but none of them worked. It really is a matter of changing the type of pad. You'll love the bike once it's quiet.

Great to hear. Didn’t work for me unfortunately. Resin is a pretty common solution for squeaky brakes after trying the other stuff like aligning the caliper or cleaning this and that.

I have the ripcurrent s now. Right out of the box not only do the breaks howl so loud my ears hurt, but the front wheel's rotor rubs against the breakpads even when breaks aren't in use and makes noise. I tried adjusting the calipers but they're so tight I ruined the bolt.
I'd have rather paid more for the bike to have proper quality components. Now I have to take it to a bike shop to probably replace the whole brake system on a brand new bike.
Edit: I may have been trying to untighten the wrong bolt now that I've watched this video. Whoops! then again, why was there no mention of this potential problem in the assembly instructions? I'll see what I can do.

Haha, yeah I watched all the videos of people trying to get subscribers and views which ended up with continued squeal. No short cuts unfortunately. So I had to make this to actually help people with a real solution. Also a good reference for myself. Glad you got your bike back up and running quietly.
My main issue is there are no markings on my brakes at all so i have no clue what pads to buy. I bought the ripcurrent S on their close out sale and my two complaints are that the brakes are not the ones advertised and neither are the tires(also the squeal). They both work fine but i hate that! Im new to working on bikes but ive always been mechanically inclined. Ill figure it out!
There aren’t minor differences between brake pads. They just all have different shapes. As long as the shape is the same it is meant to be compatible and all the shapes look way different. The issue with the calipers on the Juiced Rip Racer is that they have poor specs and quality control so they’re a bit off. The pads themselves are fine.

Would’ve been easier to bent the safety pin the other way, and torching the used brake pad does the trick too besides alcohol and sanding.
Yeah, tried the sanding but no luck. Alcohol too, also no luck for me at least. I have heard it working for others. Yes, in the description I did note that after I uploaded the video that i realized the pin should've gone in the other way, bent the other way also.
Alternatively, I think I could've just removed the bracket with caliper as a single piece to avoid having to realign the caliper with the rotor.
This bike comes only partly assembled, and you may need to realig r the brake calipers as part of the assembly /tuneup procedure if the brakes squeal.
Yeah that’s always the first thing to try. Then people start cleaning the pads, then rotors and when none of that works, then resin pads. I think it’a a process. People including myself want the easy way out. Try all the little tweaks until we finally replace the pads.
Just got my rip current s today- the brakes are total garbage. After cleaning the pads and rotor , I immediately knew the bike was shipped with crap pads. Also, the front rotor rubs even after adjustment... I think an entire braking system replacement will happen next season but for now I will replace the pads.
Yeah I had some noises a couple days ago coming from the front end. Determined it wasn’t the spokes nor misalignment of the wheel. Turns out the brake pads just needed resetting. Wasn’t sitting correctly. Noise gone now. At 1,040 miles now.
Let me know what brakes you swapped with! Curious, since they need electronic cutoff!
I'm not affiliated with Juiced or anything, but i have 2 ripcurrent S bikes and neither one squeaked. So i guess everyone's experience may differ.
@@lynchmob72 oh cool! You’ve had a better experience than us. The rip racer pretty much all has squeaking brakes. I still like the company. Been wanting a juiced by for 8 years prior to buying one.
Man it looks completely possible to do this job without removing the caliper altogether. Is the issue just with the pistons having to be pushed in which makes this harder with it still installed? Great video. I have a squeakyRR too. When will they come out with an OFF Road kit?
No, you need to remove the caliper or remove the wheel. I recommend removing the caliper.
FRONT BRAKE ISSUE: My front tire is rubbing on my new Juiced RipRacer. Almost like the brake is slightly on. The wheel does not spin. Do I just need to ride to break it in? Calliper does not seam to be centered on rotor and getting worse.
Check out Park tools RUclips channel on caliper alignment. You’re basically going to loosen the caliper, engage the brake, hold it while tightening the caliper screws. That’ll self center the caliper onto the rotor.

The Shimano resin pads are the solution. I suspect any other branded resin pads would be fine too. The annoying part is just having to shave down the width since Logan has the wrong width on half the caliper.

If you have brake squeal, reposition your caliper to align it with the discs. That's the very first thing to do and the rest is probably unneeded. It's not a juiced issue, it's an every bike on the planet issue.
Loosen both caliper bolts a bit si the caliper con reposición under pressure, then clamp the brakes on hard. Tie a rope around you're brake lever and the handlebar to keep it clamped down. Now Retighten the caliper bolts. That's how you do it. The caliper el move slightly to adjust to the actual disc alignment .
My juiced bike didn't squeal, but every bike I've had with disc brakes can get this issue
Yeah. Haha. Totally. Especially e-bikes. I centered them already. Same issue with my other ebike. Resin pretty much resolved it. Softer composite.
The only problem is if you use resin pads, you have to use a resin disk !!!!

B01S resin pads. I used Shimano. You can get it from anywhere. Fairly common.

Lol i've filed down brake pad backing pads for my Logan brakes too to makev them fit smoothly. No biggie..
Yeah just annoying the quality control on the calipers is so poor. I hear the green knockoff pads from AliExpress work without shaving em.

Yes, pads are the same front and rear. Mine squeaked more in the front as well.
It's just because there is more load on the front pads.
