    The new large #crossover with three rows for Toyota, the #toyotagrandhighlander has just been recalled for safety reasons. The Lexus TX is also affected. Here's the full scoop.
    Toyota is conducting a noncompliance safety recall involving certain model year 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX vehicles. Approximately, 145,000 vehicles are involved in this recall in the U.S.
    The curtain shield airbag on the driver’s side may not deploy as intended during certain crashes if the driver’s window is rolled down. If this occurs, the vehicles may not meet a federal safety standard, increasing the risk of injury during certain crashes.
    Toyota is currently developing a remedy for this issue.
    Customers will be notified about this issue by the middle of August 2024.
    Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter. To see if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.
    For any additional questions, Toyota customer support is also available by calling the Toyota Brand Engagement Center (1-800-331-4331) for Toyota vehicles. Customer support is also available by calling the Lexus Brand Engagement Center (1-800-255-3987) for Lexus vehicles.

    I may have not interpreted "non compliance" recall properly in the video. It may mean that Toyota's safety with the GHL/TX wasn't in line with the law. If you understand recalls or this situation better than I, PLEASE comment below.

      Because that indicates that quality is going down. Plus these companies aren’t really doing it because they want to do right by people, They only want to do it so they can look good. i’m pretty sure this crash was out for like six months and then they recalled it.

      You want your moneys worth and not everybody will have time to showcase their car for vehicles. Especially average people won’t be aware of vehicle recalls and if examples like faulty airbags fail to deploy when these average people get to crash, then that is bad because Toyota failed to make their car safe like they advertised.

      Really well said! I just bought a Grand Highlander myself, Im not freaking out about the recall. I appreciate Toyota for making this recall to fix tge problem and not just sweeping it under the rug. As to Toyota's quality being down? I see it with many car brand quality being down! The cost of materials rising and the quality we get with what we paid for being down across the board. Its not just Toyota!

    To Japan or to Canada. Problem solved.

    • @DJG37S
      @DJG37S 3 месяца назад +9

      It's not about moving production back to Japan. Japan along with many other brands that were once considered super reliable in the past has been cutting corners the past 10 years to keep the cost of cars down, at the sacrifice of reliability. Go youtube search "the car care nut" who will go into details on how much Toyota's reliability has changed over the past 20 years. They went from making tanks at an affordable cost to now putting in so much plastic to save cost and keep the cost down. Example, Toyota used to put aluminum valve covers on all their cars even the cheap corolla's back in the day's and now they put crappy plastic valve covers, in a place where it generates a lot of heat.
      Now am I saying Toyota is the only company? Nope Honda, Subaru, Nissan and a lot of car manufacturers are doing this and this is causing more recalls and reliability issues more then ever. Toyota needs to go back to making tank like cars and over building them, even if the cost goes up, instead of going the cheap route.

    • @thomas735
      @thomas735 3 месяца назад +10

      @@DJG37S I am subscribed to the car care nut already. He’s a pretty smart guy with a lot of insights.
      With that said, it’s pretty obvious that people who buy Japanese made Toyotas are happier and have less problems. Most mechanics and a lot of RUclips mechanics (Scotty Kilmer) will attest to that. They also move a lot faster to fix problems when they occur.

    As of June 19, 2024, there have been several notable automotive recalls announced by major manufacturers. Here are some of the most recent ones:
    Stellantis Recall: Stellantis has recalled over 1 million vehicles due to rearview camera software issues. The recall affects vehicles in the United States and Canada, including the 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica, with 235,423 units affected. The issue may cause the rearview camera image not to display, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall is expected to be fixed through a radio software update in Q3 2024.
    Ford Recall: Ford has recalled the most vehicles this year, with almost 500 recalls filed with U.S. regulators. The recall affects various models, including the 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks and some GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 pickups.
    Kia Recall: Kia has recalled 462,869 Telluride SUVs due to a stuck power seat slide knob that can cause the front seat’s motor to overheat, potentially causing a fire. The recall affects the 2020-2024 Telluride and has been the subject of several recalls in 2024.
    Tesla Recall: Tesla’s January 30 recall of almost 2.2 million vehicles is the largest of 2024. The recall affects essentially every Tesla on the road since 2012, including the Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and the Cybertruck. The issue is minor, but it’s worth noting that the recall is one of the largest in automotive history.

It’s going to be better than the past thanks to Toyota superior engineers and million mile testing! Toyota has become the Ralph Lauren of the car industry. If you do some research you’ll be amazed what other Asian/european/American manufacturers have had of issues and recalls. Some of them
    much more serious than these recalls, more serious than the sudden acceleration issue. The safety testing issues in Japan is more a problem of technicality than serious because in most cases the cars were tested more stringent than the standards. I’m beginning to think every single auto manufacturer has a growing number of recalls or technical service bulletins. If it’s not an assembly issue, it’s a supplier component one. The more reputable companies will issue voluntary recalls and fix the issue. The ones more focused on cost cutting won’t issue anything until they get sued and even then drag their feet on issuing repairs or putting on a band-aid fix while the vehicles are still under warranty.

    "its a good thing, they want their customers taken care of" ..... lol yeah... right. Voluntary recall just means they decided to, not because they wouldn't be forced to. If NHTSA says they need to do a recall, they typically do a recall "voluntarily" as its easiest. If they refuse, then they'll go through the procedures to force a recall. Most recalls are always voluntary, but that doesn't really mean the company wants to do it.
