- Well, It looks like the 2024 Toyota GrandHighlander recall gets even worse of deeper than originally reported. This information is intended to help families have an informed decision on making a purchase. We are one of the 50,000 plus guinea pigs!
Thank you for watching!

I have been a loyal Toyota 4Runner buyer for decades. No longer! I recently purchased a Luxurious Mazda CX-90 six cylinder Turbo S Premium, at a much lower cost and better discounted deal, than a new 4Runner!
Right on!
The only thing that I had to do with my grand Highlander was lower the height of my lights, I was pissing too many people off 😂
And get another key fob… and waiting for a recall fix! Welcome to the club😆😆😆
We have owned our ‘24 Grand Highlander since 8/23. Absolutely no problems. Love it. We get 24-28 mpg on highway. Drive mostly in town so our average is 19-20. We have the Limited trim with the non hybrid engine. Lots of power. We do not experience any road noise. We do not have the sunroof. Heats and cools terrific. Love the AWD in the rain and snow. I agree that the sheet metal does flex more than I want. Just got 2 different notices in the mail this month: 1) second key fob is now available (finally) and 2) the safety recall on the side curtain airbags. I’m not worried about this and I know Toyota will get that fixed in the future.
Thank you for the comment!
I would like to see them make the third row two seats instead of three with proper lower anchors in both seats. This size car no way you can squeeze three people back there. They have it in the Lexus that way
Couldn’t agree with you more! Great comment!
Just get the lexus though if large size comfort and anchors is the main thing. I like the 3 people 3rd row because it is great for 3 small kids or 2 big kids/small adults.
@@cg1885 I will take donations for the extra $50,000 for a Lexus
I have no problem with my 6 months and still don’t have any issues.
@@EdyGomez-xh4gs that’s great news! We need a fix on the recall though! Did you get your second key fob?
Thank you for your videos! I was able to purchase my GH Gas Plat in June about 2wks before the stop sale. My pano roof recently had to replaced because the glass stopped opening at being used twice but other than that I’ve been very happy with the car with no other issues. My daughter also sits in the 3rd and absolutely loves it! Fingers crossed the airbag recall will be the only other problem we experience because I really don’t want a different SUV. From reading different forums there aren’t any other SUVs in this class that offer the same space with reliability. So I hope Toyota hasn’t tarnished its reputation by making too many cost saving changes.
@@Kirrichan I absolutely agree and thank you so much for the nice comment. I’m so happy that you were enjoying the car. I know that we enjoyed it as well. I just like getting very relevant information out there to us owners who unfortunately have to deal with these difficult difficulties. Thank you again for your support.
My 2017 Highlander’s hood use to vibrate and service adjusted it to stop 🤷♂️.
It’s not possible to adjust on this model unfortunately
I think I’ll stick with my 2018 regular highlander. I’m scared of that 4 cylinder turbo engine and you can open the glass hatch in the back.
We definitely miss the hatch in the back.
Oh no I was getting ready to buy one after seeing your first video. I have a gmc Arcadia but it has so many electrical issues
Unfortunately I think all cars are going to have issues. We like our GH but just putting out real information. Thank you for the support!
Toyota just posted on their facebook stories an hour ago looks like a new grand highlander.
The rumor is the grand Highlander is going to get a complete facelift. if you go and dig through a bunch of the forums and you look at the hub, you’ll see that the rumors are pointing towards a facelift which could possibly change the way. The eight pillars are in the current 2024 grand Highlander. There are also rumors of class action lawsuits floating around.
@@AviatorsGarage i hope they fixit. Even on 2018rav4 there is still no available fix on their recall. I'm hoping they will not let all toyota fans disappoint. 😔I attached a link on the comment regarding on their post.
Doubt they will change the grand Highlander style at this stage. More likely they will fix the design of the safety flaws of the airbag and any other safety deficiencies.
Maybe
Since May of 2023, tried to get 2nd key. 8 attempts, no success. Now, f____d up bags. Toyota, you’ve outdone yourselves.
Definitely frustrating for sure!!! Thank you for the comment!!!
Awesome video sir. Liked and subscribed.
... I would like to buy a new 2022 Highlander with the v-6 motor that is naturally aspirated.
Thank you for the support! I hope they come back with the V6. There are rumors the Lexus version may go back to it.
@@AviatorsGarage That would be awesome!
Toyota has issued a resolution, Sept 13 2024. A modified curtain air bag will be installed on driver/pass sides. The GH is NOT being refreshed or redesigned. I'm unable to post the link to the news release
Thank you! UPDATE TO MY REPLY- there is no remedy posted. My Application states “TOYOTA is currently preparing the remedy for this issue. When the remedy is available, Toyota dealers will replace the driver curtain airbag, and passenger curtain Air bag FREE OF CHARGE. At this time, Toyota is unable to provide an estimate of when the remedy will be available.” This has been stated since the recall was issued. The only thing that has changed is both airbags have issues now.
Did you drive one of these with the non-turbo motor? Or the standard Highlander?
I only drove the turbo 2.4L. To my understanding the hybrid max is fast. Has great power as well. We had the 2018 V6 highlander and it felt like it had more torque. It was a smaller and lighter vehicle though.
After that I am happy I decided to buy a Pathfinder Platinum instead.
Don’t blame you one bit!
Hope that don't have the cvt
@@jahmanborneo1343 nope 9 speed geared transmission.
the hood wobble is annoying
Things are getting cheaply made for sure!
The $70K Lexus GX550 has the same hood wobble. Imagine that.
That’s unfortunate
short time remedy........ while driving do not open the window....... use ac/fan all the time
@@MrSUNNY168 lol love it… in Florida we never have the window down…🤪🤪🤪
Dang, it sounds like a handful. Overall, are you happy with it, all things considered?
@@danbuffington75 lol the wife is. That’s all that matters!
@@AviatorsGarage If Toyota would buy your car back... Would you buy something else or the same model again?
Owned Toyotas for 25 years. Purchased my GH XLE in Aug 23. First Toyota I've ever regretted buying... Values are tanking and dealers won't accept in trade. The fix for this will be a compromise and will likely move it into a forced redesign and the end of Gen 1. Class actions to follow. Lawyers will benefit but consumers are screwed. I'm starting to question how safe it is to drive. Not gonna end well.
That is probably the most logical outcome. Very good points. I’m pretty disappointed as well. Thank you for the comments!
Didn’t watch the video yet, but will this afternoon. If Toyota fixes the recalls, aren’t we essentially good to go? Not worried about trading values cause I’m gonna keep it for a very long time but definitely super upset about all this. Once they fix everything, isn’t it safe again? I am a dumb naïve car buyer.
Toyota has found a fix that they will begin to implement next month. No indication that the vehicle will have to be redesigned.
Cars will always be difficult for some and easy for others to work on. The real factor is time.
Ima drive my 22 Tacoma till the wheels fall off. V6 with 6 speed trans. Good ole reliable.
@@jahmanborneo1343 amen senor… I just bought an XJS V12. Makes the Highlander look like child’s play
Seems like Toyota is sinking fast, my conclusion from your video
They are actually doing ok sales wise. Quite the opposite. I totally agree with your point though
Oh.. my big toe. My princess crown is too big.
To each their own! Great comments
What does that mean? Just curious.
its the first gen hommie... they wont change anythin anytime soon.
True dat G

The video I added above shows different, like the infotainment system changed but it could be a prototype. It matches more of the new Toyota highlanders mixed with land cruiser
I have only seen a couple of your videos, but it sounds like you hate Toyota! My GH gets 18 city and 23 highway. My 2011 V6 Camry got 17 city 25 highway. I love my GH because I don't worry about the airbags, my wife doesn't ever let me drive with the windows open. Allergies!
lol, no I love Toyota… just disappointed. Thanks for the comment. Go army!
