What they didn't tell you is that each one of these GPS devices is $20K. No....I'm not joking. That's coming out of taxpayer dollars. Why could you not do the same damn thing with a $30 apple airtag lodged into a device that they could shoot and stick to a car? Asking for a friend....
Who says that? I just read this: Starchase GPS Dart system. The system is compliant with the Fourth Amendment, and costs $5,000 per police cruiser for the first year of installment and training. Each subsequent year will cost about $1,000.Dec 30, 2017
If you do everything competently, you leave no room for all the corrupt officials getting kickbacks! Same as charging a billion dollars for a bridge or 70 million for a traffic control tower at a small airport. Absolutely no way they cost that much of done competently. Only way public works cost so much is all the money laundering and kickbacks to put cash in corrupt official pockets and the pockets of their campaign donors who have tech or construction companies. Same bloody game from small town America to DC.
This is modern policing at its best. Here in Washington State a couple days back we had two armed carjackers drive all over Marty King Country. The pair were wrecking cars and stealing cars and assaulting several women and then stealing and totaling more vehicles. The entire time police were on. They stood by watching and waiting by as one innocent person after another got beaten and robbed. Never lost sight of the violent criminals, even filmed it. Here police knew enough not to move in and arrest these criminals, and we do did not even pursue, because that wouldn't do.
Nothing new here. This technology has been around since 2006. It has not been universally implemented due to its impracticality and enormous costs. The bigger story here is what has been done with the fresh new felon that they arrested without further incident? Rides home with mommy with a mere signature while still sucking on his lollypop that the nice police officer gave him? Oh, and does he get to keep his new car since he was such a good boy that nobody was killed during the commission of his crimes? Yeah, this should solve all the problems with car thefts. Right?
There has been chase after chase that proves the majority of the time, the perp DOES NOT slow down for long after a pursuit has been terminated. They are trying to put as much distance as possible between them and the cops. This alleged speed drop shown here is anecdotal at best.

Show me the source. The news source that I think you’re quoting from, was vague and didn’t say what that 20k covers.

Arrest the thief? LOL!!! He was released before the cop finished his shift. All charges dropped. Same as his previous 20+ felony arrests.
THIS IS YEARS OLD TECH!🤷♂️
It's great tech.... But it should have not been exposed to the media..
This is COOL!
- It's Hot Man, H O T !!♨
So now that this out on the news. Criminals will just gain good distance, get out and rip the tag off and there goes your gps tracking.
This technology is not new. It’s almost 55 years old plus. We sent men to the moon and tracked where they went.
And then let them go......,
I like this a lot better than law enforcement initiating a high speed pursuit.
Law enforcement does not initiate high speed pursuits. Fleeing criminals initiate high speed pursuits.
@@jbj27406 and the vast majority of them do not slow down if it's terminated. They drive like hell until they get to home base, or wreck out
Whats so difficult about car manufactures putting in tracking technology just incase your car gets stolen in today's day?
Sometimes they get disabled
Because I wouldn't buy that vehicle
@@vWaLLBangz um no they wouldn't but nice try.
@@co59720 then don't. Alot of people want something like this. But manufactures seem to not care about car thefts for some odd reason.
That's old. Thieves have already figured out how to disable that. We're putting in a few Apple Air Tags in hidden places.

There should ne a civil assessment on every car thief in that county to help pay for that system.

Worth every penny !
I love it!
Great now they know to get out after they get a head start and stick it on another vehicle
73 grand per police car?
Good Idea
Holy W
🤡 corny ass
Government over spending. Apple air tag with chewy gum
Waste of money
