    Thanks that helps me a lot. I’m dropping my gas tank and since I have a custom set up I’m just gonna wire it from the sending unit to the gauge.

    I'm glad you're placing a volt meter separately it helps a ton. I did a separate volt guage in my setup. You know how the manufacture guages tend to do after your vehicle is in serious trouble. If you're out driving or drifting, it would be nice to know if you have 12.5 to 13.5 volts to start your engine, and other components/accessories...Yikes lol

    FINALLY!!! A simplified, easy to follow and understand demonstration, with a gauge that matches mine. Informative and useful. THANK YOU!!

    An LS in a Mustang? *That's blasphemy!*
    Fun blasphemy, but _still_ blasphemy...
    Good to know I'm not the only one with a bluetooth/android tablet gauge cluster! XD
    I drive a 2009 Crown Victoria that had a cluster that only worked when it wanted to (really obnoxious at night turning on and off) until I removed it. For some reason, Ford ran the fuel gauge wiring to the instrument cluster rather than to the PCM. The instrument cluster gets the vast majority of its information from the PCM via the CAN bus, but it is _the cluster_ that determines the fuel level and _sends it to the PCM_ over the network. The end result is the lack of an accurate fuel level PID available without a cluster installed, so I'm doing a bit of research on installing an aftermarket fuel gauge... so thanks for the video.
    I use an OBDLink MX and the included OBDLink app on my old ass (but perfectly sized) Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. I put together a custom dashboard for it:
    drive.google.com/file/d/1jCbzc-ZsXE_UalKcUU4kFyFFQ3Df-tgm/view
    What do you use?

      My dash gets it's info straight from the ECU. I have an aftermarket MS3 with a Bluetooth port. MS3's native dash software is called Shadow dash. It works great.

    You should solder and cover with shrink wrap all the electrical connections. Those crimp style lead to all types of gremlins and come loose. You could have depinned that one wire from the connector rather than cutting it. You cannot reuse the stock sending unit as it is a different ohm range.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  6 лет назад +2

      Crimping and soldering is a matter of preference. NOTHING is soldered on F-1 cars, every connection is crimped and all of my connections are shrink wrapped as well. As far as re using the stock sending unit, maybe I should have been more clear, IF you are using your factory dash for an LS swap, you can use an adapter like what I showed to install your OEM sending unit and it will talk to your OEM dash just like it was meant to. Also, on the fox gauge cluster, those connections cannot be de pinned, they're soldered into a ribbon that folds over into the connector. It makes no difference if I cut it, I will never use that connector again.

    On my fox the temp gauge would peg out when I turned the headlights on with the engine OFF. Engine running, it would show hotter than normal with the lights on. I couldn't figure it out so I put an aftermarket gauge in.
    On the back of the stock cluster is a resistor that jumps a connector for the alternator light, when people remove the cluster because they installed an aftermarket gauge the alternator won't charge. So the resistor has to be jumped back in one of the plugs you showed, IDK if it's necessary in your case with the LS...

    Curious to know if the gas gauge worked? On the stock cluster there is a voltage regulator and anti slosh chip that has to be used with the fuel gauge.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  4 года назад

      You are correct. This gauge DOES work, however it's a little inconsistent when the car isn't level, but it's close enough for me to know how much gas I have. I also had a significant electrical meltdown the first time I drove without the stock gauges, There are 4 possible causes I have pinpointed, the voltage reg in the dash is one possible cause. I learned about that after the fact of course.

    Hi, I was hoping you checked and responded to quick questions. My ohms from my fuel sending unit is (3 full 110 empty) and I'm shopping for a new gauge. What ohms can i get away with if I can't find the exact match? Thanks in advance. UPDATE: AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I WAS LED TO PURCHASE A PROGRAMMABLE GAUGE. (DOES THAT MAKE SENSE TO YOU?)

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  5 лет назад +1

      I have never heard of a programmable fuel gauge, so it's not something I can comment on. If the ohms you need is 3-110 then that's what you need. Any variance is going to cause the gauge to indicate incorrectly. If you're having a hard time finding what you need for your particular application, you may just want to spend the $$ and buy one from Autometer. I'm a fan of finding discounts wherever possible, but for very specific items such as this, you're better going for the known good brand names, and they make products for tons of applications.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  3 года назад

      hey, the fuel gauge works awesome, the only drawback is that if doesn't have the anti slosh feature built in like the dash gauge does, so the needle may move a little bit depending on the position of the car. Not a big deal, It's accurate enough to get the job done.

    For signal on your fuel gauge.... Are there multiple ways to get signal???? My instructions says to run my wire all the way to the fuel sending unit. I see you went to your cluster harness for signal! Can I also do this?? Is it worth a shot????

    Plz can you tell me how to install universal speed meter in car Kia spectra 2002 Explain me the wiring

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  5 лет назад

      for any gauge you want, there needs to be some sort of signal wire, however, for a speedometer, there are a lot of options that don't even require wiring. Here is a link to the unit I use, all you need to do is plug it in to a power source and mount it anywhere. www.amazon.com/TIMPROVE-Universal-Speedometer-Windshield-Motorcycle/dp/B07KZ2HT4S/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=gps+speedometer&qid=1555504875&s=gateway&sr=8-10
