Looks bloody nice that Neon colour. Good to see they haven't completely ruined it and just touched up a few things.
No cables through the headset. 🙌
    Canyon know what's up.

Moir and Jesse were both unable to defend their EWS/EDR titles on the new Spectral. That’s a problem.

@@TheFullKanani except they were both on the Strive and it's completely irrelevant to anything?

Yeah, they've done a good job to be fair.

@@jamlee344 it's slightly relevant. I surmise that the they tested the Spectral at the EWS to see if they should keep it as what it was supposed to be: an enduro bike. But it proved to be too rowdy, even with Jesse overstroking the rear shock.
Therefore, Canyon relegated the Spectral for something it is excellent at, and that is as a long travel trail bike. That's probably why they reduced the travel by 10mm. They wanted to make the distinction between the Spectral and Strive to be more distinct.

Also…..if you had a small in the last frame you got 29’s, if you went for a similar size frame you’ll get 27.5’s

Hey, You talk about price but prev CF8(example) is full XT and grip2 where new one have grip and slx crank, and it's over 1,5kg havier? Am I right?

I'm no expert on the specs, but the old bike had XT/SLX mix I think, as the new one does. I believe the new one is Fox Performance Elite, which is GRIP2 as far as I know. I believe the new bike is a touch heavier due to KIS and some feature adds like downtube storage, but no where near as much as 1.5kg as far as I'm aware.

@@downtimepodcast If go site and put this to bikes to side by side comparision you can see 14.28 vs 15,84 it is big diference. And in old one is xt crank ...

@ ok, I found the comparison you're making. Looks like you're comparing the old air shock equipped bike with the new coil shock equipt CF8 CLLCTV, so not really a fair comparison. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that to keep the price point, they had to use the SLX crank (also cassette). For me that would be no issue as I don't see the benefit of paying more for a crank that I can't really tell the difference. But if the spec/weight of the old CF8 is better for you personally, then maybe that's the one to buy! Especially as it's on offer.

You know it's time to buy a bike when its almost identical substitute, knocks off a quarter of its price.

Would you buy the old Spectral CF 8 for $800 off verse buying the new CF 8?

I think it depends what's important to you. The old bike is a great bike too. If you want to save some money and aren't interested in having in-frame storage, the ability to switch between mullet and 29, or increased stability from KIS and the longer reach, then go for the old bike. If all or some of those things are important to you, and you can afford it, then you might be better off with the new version.

the old one for sure. nothing is ever as much or as big as what reviewers say it is. nothing is night and day difference.

Get the old one. The difference is 3000$ and the new bike won't be anything spectacular compared to the new one. It's basically the same bike with a few cool things added, but not worth it.

I am 182.5 cm and my inseam is 88.5, so I am exactly between 2 sizes. I just don't know which length is best. can you give me advice on this?

I'd say, think about what you value most in your riding. Do you want a bike that's more stable and confidence inspiring, especially at speed? Then go for the larger of the two sizes. Do you prefer something that's a little more playful and manoeuvrable, especially if you're mostly riding slower, tighter trails, then the smaller of the two would be the best bet.

The 2024 sizes are a lot closer than the '23 and have more overlap too. I was smack bang between M and L on the 23 frames with my stumpy tyrannosaurus legs whereas the sizing on the new bike put me in a much better position to pick
