- Vladimir Putin has said Europe is “defenceless” against nukes and that his country has “many more” than the continent.
Putin said that his country has “many more [tactical nuclear weapons] than there are on the European continent, even if the United States brings theirs over.”
“Europe does not have a developed [early warning system]. In this sense they are more or less defenceless,” he told the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
He added that the use of nuclear weapons is only possible in “exceptional cases” and that he does not believe “such a case has arisen.”
The Russian leader and other officials have repeatedly raised the threat of a nuclear attack since sending troops into Ukraine in 2022.

What he is saying is true and not really overcompensating when it comes to; a conflict between the EU+UK and Russia, however the devastation would be immense on both sides, with no clear victor emerging due to the principle of mutual assured destruction. However, it is very unlikely that the US would sit back and allow Russia to attack the EU or the rest of the world without intervening.

Nobody wins in a nuclear war. In fact the whole world looses. US has about 5000 war heads. Russia has about 5300. If all those were launched the whole world will die. Its a very serious matter and diplomacy needs pursued as soon as possible.

Russia barely survived the last 2 World Wars, their only advantage is their nuclear arsenal. Which, based on their sloppy training and poor maintenance will likely not all deploy correctly. I think you’d see a lot of silos not launch, explode, not open, and some missiles not fire correctly.

Something people usually forget about is half the vehicles they were using by the end of ww2 were American and America also gave them 3x their military budget in “loans” they never paid back. We also sent engineers over to set up their tank manufacturing facilities. They would have been crushed without America’s handouts.
. Not forgetting the Artic Convoys from Britain when many a brave sailor made the ultimate sacrifice to get supplies to Russia. This all seems to be forgotten.
