I know this video is "old" but I have to comment. You're complaining about the time it takes to charge. Almost 54 hours. My question is: Are you familiar with electric cars? The car has a 71 kWh battery with approx 64 kWh available to use. Based on your video, it looks like you arrive home with almost empty battery. You live in the US (based on the video) where they use 110V, and you charge the car with the standard 10A charger that comes with the car. This will provide 1.1 kWh per hour and in your case it will deliver energy equal to approx 60 kWh during the 54 hours charge period. This is the same with all cars. You need a proper home charger, connected to a 220 V system capable of 32A. Connecting the car to such a home charger, it will charge with 6.6 kWh per hour and not 1.1. Using this, it will "fill up your car" in 9-10 hours or overnight. In Europe we use 220/230V as standard. In the US, you use 110V and need to order a 220V/32A connection for car charging if you do not want to wait "forever". And I do not drive a Solterra or BZ4s.
Honestly, she didn't miss much. I don't mean to project my views but while the electric motor torque compensates for the anemic 2 liter engine at least for merging and passing on the highway, the 17 miles EV range is way too low for the car price.. I test drove a 2021 plug in Crosstrek but wasn't impressed at all. I ended up buying a 2021 limited Crosstrek with a 2.5 liter engine which made mode sense to me and it was $10k cheaper. I get 40 mpg on the highway with climate control off and cruise control on @65 mph
If you're interested in an EV, invest in a NEMA 14-50 outlet in your garage so you can charge on "level 2". This car will easily charge overnight that way. For those commenting on them not selling...it's a below average EV (thanks to Toyota) that has too much competition, pretty much all of which are a better value (or a MUCH better EV). Those of us who are Subaru fans and EV fans are very disappointed in this.
The car is extremely smooth, quiet and refined to drive. Exceptional in the snow with dual x mode. However i can understand why charging is such a nightmare and range is definitely a issue for long drives. However if they address the range issue to something more meaningful, i will definitely consider getting one.. i too liked it as a loaner car. Last but not the least visibility was excellent in the front. Not so great in the back but still good
Got my Solterra two months ago and was so disappointed on the charging time. 2 DAYS and 4 HOURS charged time from 5% to 100%. Thats quite a long time. No rear windshield wiper w/c makes visibility zero during rainy days.. I dread the coming of winter in Chicago where I am from. My dealer suggested not to use it on long distance trips because of the charging time .Should have leased a TESLA instead.😪😪😪
Yes, it takes 54 hours on a 110V Level 1 charger. This is why everyone that has a garage and gets an EV will install a Level 2 charger, so that you can get those charge times down to something that works over night.
240V is not a road trip charging!! This is home or destination charging. Solterra is not as fast as Tesla Model Y in DC charging or VW ID.4 it takes 40-50 minutes 10-80%. Something like Hyundai Ioniq 5 or 6 takes less than 20 minutes to charge 10-80% Also 110v is not a standard charger it more like an emergency one.. Its not for daily charging. You need to educate your self more regarding EV's and especially charging! Its the same with smart phones. Some are capable to fast charge on 20W+ if plugged in approperiate charger that delivers that. If you plug it in 5W charger you will get 5 W :).
@@StreetInspired1 well damn that’s kinda cool! It all looked like a huge touch screen, looks like you just tell it what to do and take a nap😅! Cool stuff man!
Did you even watch the video? The first 30 seconds was me explaining that this was a loaner vehicle while my wrx was in the shop. So I didn't buy the vehicle.
What do you expect them to say? They just spent 70 grand on a POS? I have 3 subies and was considering this as my wife drives her forester a lot. I'm from Canada too. My dealer who I am tight with the sales manager advised not to buy it. Those people make money to sell cars. The range issue is huge. Not getting the advertised range and Subaru is trying a fix. Between this and the 22 and up WRX; Subaru has really messed up.
Ugh this car is a SORE spot right now. ESP with Toyota now looking to drop full electrics. We've sold a SINGLE unit, nobody is interested in these things. I'll give it though, deff a very comfortable car to drive and ride in. If you were to buy one and upgrade your garage outlet to level 2 it wouldnt be terrible but damn the cost to get into.
If you're gonna have a manufacturing partner... I think Toyota is probably the best one to have, by far... except maybe Honda. I don't mind one bit that Subaru and Toyota are working together! That being said.. that interior is FUGLY... hideous... carpet on the dash??? WTF are these apparently overpaid design engineers thinking... oh wait.. they're engineers...
I saw Subaru has like 0.9% financing offers or 2K cash back on the Solterra. Ain't nobody buying these. Hey here's a great counter to greenie hippies as to why you don't drive an EV... "It's ornithologally damaging to the ecosystem." I was at a dealer a few weeks ago and he even told my it takes two days to charge off the 120V house plug.

I finally got a chance to see one at the St Louis car show. My wife actually went looking for a hybrid Crosstrek and it was so hard to find one.

It does have a flat tyre kit in the back on the right hand side

thanks
There is actually a flat repair kit on the right side of the storage at the back

Do you need a garage to install a level two charger at home ?
@@LeoandTiger-h6m Well not necessarily I guess. If you happen to have access to a 220V outlet, you can just plug in a portable Level 2 charger.
My wife has the Subaru Solterra ev touring,it drives great alot of room and the Japanese engineers know their stuff

Looks like the place for your phone to go is a touch screen as well, and it does have that spaceship vibe.
It's actually a transparent panel so you can see your phone while it's in there. Kind of cool concept!
@@StreetInspired1 well damn that’s kinda cool! It all looked like a huge touch screen, looks like you just tell it what to do and take a nap😅! Cool stuff man!
I'd be curious to know the difference in your electricity bill due to charging instead of getting gas. Was it noticeable or negligible?
My bill this month was almost the same as the previous month so if it added anything it wasn't noticeable.
I can charge in SE Iowa for 1/4th the cost of gas.............Paul
Yes question way did you buy it then
Did you even watch the video? The first 30 seconds was me explaining that this was a loaner vehicle while my wrx was in the shop. So I didn't buy the vehicle.
You’re incorrect about the charging of your phone and the use of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The trim you have does wireless charging.
It's a whole touch screen!
I saw what they did with my 11” touch screen. No thanks!
I’m curious! my best friends bought the fully loaded solterra for like 70k Canadian… but they seem super happy with it. :)

I'll buy one off your lot for 30k
That's is not quite accurate. It was developed by both firms but Solterra is more complete and more luxurious.

You mean it look like bzX4.
3:57 death to bird killing EVs! 😂 #saveinternalcombustion
Good for nothing useless car

"greenie hippies"? Please forgive some us for wanting clean air, less noise and independence from Russia and OPEC....
I'm glad they are not selling. Terrible car i don't want to work on.
