  • Today’s episode comes from one of the RUclips viewers Doc On The Run RUclips channel who had watched one of the videos on fractures. He asked a great question.
This is from Saif. What he said was,
“Thank you for such a short and effective, informative video. My question was, does displaced fracture heal naturally without medical treatment? And the thought process was that how did our ancestors and primitives heal without medical care or deal with these displaced fractures?”
How does a displaced fracture heal naturally without medical treatment?
Well, that’s what we’re talking about today on the Doc On The Run Podcast.

I have displaced metatarsal fractures on 2 3 and 4. Orthopedic surgeon told me recovery is faster not to do surgery and let it heal naturally.

@claudettevogel8631 Honesty I still have quite a lot of pain. The problem in my situation is surgery required 6 weeks off work, I would be homeless at that point, so I chose to take 2 weeks off and free heal in the boot. The permanent structure of my foot and toe position will never be the same to what it was but I can deal with the pain.

I fractured my tibia and fibula. Is it normal after 50 days the fracture is still visible under xray but I am walking with crutches and putting partial weight without any pain or discomfort.(my treatment was with a fiber cast without any surgery since the bones were not displaced)
