    Broke my collarbone about 5 months ago mountain biking.
    I decided not to go the surgical route even though it was highly recommended by the surgeon. About 2 weeks later I was out of the sling and starting motion exercises. 3 weeks in was able to drive my stick car again and 1m 1/2 I was back on the bike. Recovery times are different for everyone just remember to stay positive!

      may i know the updates about your collarbone?

      last 2 weeks I've been in accident while I'm driving motorcycle and my x ray result is complete bone clavicle fracture

      Yes I do have a little bump on my clavicle but i personally would rather have that then a huge scar.

    Thanks for the video doc. I broke the clavicle, along with fracturing ribs 3-8 on May 12th. Today is day 10 for me post surgery. My fracture was non-aligned and both of the bone pieces were pointed different ways. From the day of the surgery, although I was in a bunch of pain I already started feeling some relief. I am not wearing the sling anymore after day 10, and my arm doesn't hurt anymore just hanging to the side at rest. I would suggest anyone who is on the fence about getting this surgery to just don't wait around...do it now. I think it's one of the best decisions I've made in my life, and I am grateful to have a good medical team to take care of me.

      @@IFC97anesthesia is the least of my concerns, just wait until week 3 of wearing a sling 😭... broke mine in a drunken argument with my older brother when I was 16, but because I was underage drinking when it happened everyone thought I was being dramatically drunk. It's been 20yrs and my problems as a result of malunion have increased in frequency and severity over time, so now I'm getting set up for surgery and like you I'm nervous though for different reasons it seems. In my case because of how my collarbone healed, when I lift weights and my shoulder swells, it causes the bone to push against the artery limiting the blood supply to my brain enough to cause seizures. So I'm not at all scared of going under because this will hopefully be the last time I do as a result of my busted up clavicle. 😀👍

    I broke mine going over the handlebars on my dirtbike, never hurt too bad... I was at high risk for non-union; surgery. Im in San Diego, warm climate, never bothered me sufficient to remove, until. Pushing tens years later the skin started attaching to the plate. Had it removed. I was also told by the surgeon, Scripps Sports Medicine, they recommend removal if continuing contact sports as the bone is weaker at both ends. I am three weeks in and board out of my mind as the recovery is similar to fracture, eight screws in that little bone has risk of fracture. The incision was glued and nearly healed. There are studies out there re clavicle hardware removal and refracture; namely women with low-bmi.

I feel pain with almost every pushing and pulling movement with pronated grip, especially because the shoulder socket is smaller now. Broke my clavicle last week. It's significantly Displaced, and non-union or malunion seems kind of likely. Figure-8 brace favored here, so that's what I have.
    I'm going the conservative route. Interesting thing though is that I don't have much pain. (Not pushing it, of course.) Is that odd? A bad sign?) Or a semi-decent sign that maybe it will asymptomatic-ish, even if there's a non-union.
    Great video by the way. Thanks for putting it up.

My left clavicle has permanent damaged at the sternal end. these are the leftover results from going over my bicycle handle bars where I also broke 5 ribs and the right scapula landing on concrete. Should I pursue any other strength training other than bands to support these limiting injuries. the over head reach is the only motion that creates the pinching pain.

    • @bonnielee7134
      @bonnielee7134 Месяц назад +2

      @ edyrose7074,
      I am feeling better. At the 2 week mark, I changed out of my shirt but I made the mistake of pushing, with my injured left, slinged, arm, to the right to slip my right arm though and it tore something. So I waited for four days, taking it easy, to get some more healing from that. Today, day five from that, I felt good enough to take a full shower and scrub my back, with a luffa type scrunchie, on a stick and that was a real milestone. I have decided to rest my left swollen ankle today and this weekend, to get some good healing on that. I had been previously walking on it to get some stress relief by doing my daily walks outside. So I will need to be patient and do without my daily walks for just a little while.
      The internet says that these broken clavicles will heal no matter what you do to them, so I decided not to worry too much about it.
      Good luck with your healing journey. Much love and peace to you, ❤️

      @ edyrose7074,
      Well I have the type that doesn’t have to have surgery I should add because I don’t want to mislead anyone with that statement that they’ll heal no matter what. I meant that to apply for the type that’s broken the 80% way, that I have read about. Readers of this comment will need to do their own research. Thanks!

    • @bonnielee7134
      @bonnielee7134 Месяц назад

      @ edyrose7074,
      I should add that there is a nerve there, round-about, where the injury is, on my type of break. Well, when I “ retore it “ I think that I may have also retore that nerve so I am really going to try and be careful with the healing because I don’t want any permanent damage done on that nerve causing a weird chronic pain condition. So one thing, that the internet said was to be careful of the weight force on it, even the weight of the arm, itself. One suggested to keep it slinger for the 6 to 8 weeks when bone growth will be knitting it together. I’m 55 years old so I will most likely follow this instruction considering that I will heal slower than a young person but keep in mind, 6 to 8 weeks is the general standard time on bone growth and healing. It’s better to be safe than sorry is my motto. 😆 but BOY is it hard to be patient!

      @@thetricky5569 Tbh I healed extremly well I think. I'll try explain the best I can because damn is it a horrible time and I feel, for you. But it will feel much better sooner then you think. I snapped mine at the distal end with also 2cm seperation and almost broke the skin. To make things worse I have hEDS a condition that makes my joints extremly mobile. Which is possibly how I healed so fast after a total 2cm displacement. The fisrt month I felt if someone bumped into me id snap it again and had to sleep on my back. I dab hash Rosin so that helped me sleep for sure. Would have been hard to sleep with out weed imo. You're going to naturally want to mover your arm as much as it will allow you to and thats what you should do. Before the bike crash I could do at least 15-20 body weight dips and after a month got my first press up back, planks etc. I felt my body would never be the same again so went to a private Doc to ask about getting the plate to lengthen the CB. But unless it's really bad and coming out the skin best not to get it. Too much risk. Maybe it would be good for you but I'd say most likely it'll heal back and in 3 months you'll hardly notice it. I'd say make sure you are upping your protein and try and eat a shit load of chicken wings and bone broth for collegen and you'll be all good.
