Skyrim - Is Being a Werewolf Worth It?

- Опубликовано: 15 мар 2018
- In our latest Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video we have a fun hypothetical discussion about whether or not being a werewolf is worthwhile in the elder scrolls universe.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

1. Outside of towns, you must be a werewolf
2. No fast traveling

Probably would take the gift. Hircine is a very fair daedra and would be dope to serve. I would just hunt vampires and vigilants constantly to piss off Molag-bal and Stendarr. Hircine rewards those who relish the hunt!!!!
Also if you get the one where you get bloodlust while transformed, you can a. go to a vampire castle or something and mess them up or b. lock yourself up under your house or something
Why would you want to be a Deadra lap dog in the afterlife?
also would protect you from ending up in the hands of the wise masters of the soul cairn(via being soul trapped) unless you make a deal with them
jahmerry h that pretty much happens in every afterlife in elder scrolls. That or eternal torment.
and why would i want to be a stupid creep who never meet people in public
The only kind of werewolf I want to be is the companion-version. In total control, disease immunity and stronger and faster than almost every type of enemie. The best about being a werewolf: Hunting vampires without the risk of becoming a vampire yourself.
And don't forget the ability to throw a giant across the room... pay back time
Who says you need to quit hunting vampires if you become one if anything they handed you another weapon to use on them.
I had the chance to becoming a companion were wolf all along but didn't choose to in fear that i couldn't go back as a human,Reading your comment i decided to do the companion ritual and becoming a were wolf, did i do the right thing?the vampire sun shit was becoming so annoying...

Not gonna lie, half of my hope for Elder Scrolls VI: Black Marsh comes from my desire to see werecrocodiles
Nick Lanni Introducing Tamriel's version of the Gatorclaw!
I'm pretty certain it will be Valenwood. It will let them do the Wild Hunt phenomenon that's the source for all the monsters in Elder Scrolls and deep dive into them (in Skyrim we hear about King Borgas being lost to the Wild Hunt for one), go for something very different than Skyrim or Fallout in style where Black Marsh could easily look very postapoc, and also very lateral with pathways between giant trees, but at the same time not all that demanding for consoles overall since the engine can be told to just load whatever is visible (if you add a lot of huge trees in Skyrim this will actually help with your framerate for this reason if you have a high def LOD). And of course it's probably the best location for taking care of the whole Thalmor thing properly, possibly even after the Empire's collapse if they jump some years ahead again.
As long as they don't skimp on the wild hunt transformations (always brought the leshen from witcher to mind), that'd be pretty sweet
They literally added those to Fallout 4 with NW 😂
it's elder scrolls 6 Valenwood not black marsh
I wasn't too impressed with the Silver Hand. They seemed less interested in saving humanity from the werewolf menace and more interested in capturing extreme fighting animals for their pit fights.
Pro's:
- Looking awesome
- Sending enemies running with a roar
- Sending enemies flying with your bare hands
- Immunity to being weighed down by loot
- Quadruped sprint, useful for when horse is unavailable
- Immunity to diseases
Con's:
- No resting health regen
- Villagers attacking you (out of envy)
- Getting called out on fur in your ear (also out of envy)

Na bro werelepords

Companion werewolves are AMAZING. You have full control over yourself, and you’re super fast and strong.
"You may have to put up with odd patches of fur"
*Laughs in khajiit*
They should have made a cosmetic change for khajiit players so they turn into like a weresabre cat of something because turning from cat to wolf makes no sense.
Sure the transformation looks cool, and the strength and disease immunity are nice, but that speed is what makes me really want it. Y'know when your horse rushes into combat with you and dies, leaving you stranded while you still have to go someplace that you can't fast travel to? Sucks don't it? With werewolf though, just wait for night, transform, and run. Horse no longer needed.
Jared Kun or you just install a mod which stops horses to go into combat
Jared Kun I don't even have to transform in the night I can do it whenever
While I agree werewolves are superior, here is a solution : Shadowmere.
Mods are cheating.
Or Arvak
I've always preferred werewolves to vampires aesthetically. However, I think full blown immortality for vampires trumps the benefits of being a werewolf. There is one big thing that makes me reconsider both, and that is the afterlife aspect. Molgbal's realm is 110% not worth it. Hercine's realm on the other hand doesn't sound completely terrible. Still given that we know multiple afterlifes exist in Elder Scrolls I'm inclined to possibly stay mortal, especially if I've got the option of Sovengard.
Foxfire Inferno Not me, lol. I'm terrified of death. I'd give almost anything to gain immortality, especially considering in our world we don't have concrete evidence of an afterlife. If I had evidence for it as in ES though I'd probably feel differently.
Wow, Imagine how a (realistic) mage would be in skyrim if he could live and research for hundreds of years. At that point, he may become omnipotent.
epion660 Hell, imagine how much you could do in our world with that. You'd be able to achieve levels if knowledge and wisdom beyond comprehension.
Oh well yes, you'd be able to learn anything. I'm meaning, if a mage were to train for hundreds of years, always pushing and growing his limit, how powerful would he get?
epion660 We see some mages in ES that have managed to live for long periods of time, and they definitely have immense power. The most famous example probably being Manimarco who lived for thousands of years.

Before even watching the video, I'll just say right off the bat: From a gameplay perspective, there is literally no reason not to be a werewolf. From a gameplay perspective, the only reason to not be a werewolf is if you want to be a vampire and the two aren't compatible.
Unlike vampires, werewolves have no gameplay drawbacks. You're never forced to enter beast mode, so you only use it when it's convenient for you. When you're not in beast form, you can enjoy a passive immunity to disease without any negative side-effects.
cant get the sleep bonus however. pretty harsh since I sleep in any bed I see, helps alot leveling up.
there are also perks you can use a a vampire that boost about every stat making them op in the long run, gameplay wise
vampires have a sneak bonus that as a stealth character i just couldn't pass on
@@memoryfoammatressstuffedwi8876 When I played, I mainly used the werewolf form as a disguise to kill assassination targets in broad daylight when I felt too lazy to get more elaborate with my planning. Transform out of sight, deal with the target, snack on a few idiot guards and back into the woods to transform back well out of sight. So there's still some benefit for normally stealthy characters there, especially as a panic button if you happen to be very, very squishy in your normal state.
dstebbin the only time you are forced into beast mode is if you have a cursed Ring of Hircine.

Yes, I become a werewolf just for the disease immunity.
Ragnar Lothbrok _ Vampirism also gives desease immunity. What makes being a werewolf better than being a vampire?
A: You don't need to wear sunscreen every single day.
Michael Weiske Lycanthropy doesn't have any downsides
Ragnar Lothbrok _ True, in human form, there are no downsides. But what are the upsides? Desease immunity is the only one I can think of, and that can be gained using enchantments. In beast form, you have many downsides, like being hunted down by city gaurds, weakness to silver, etc. Vampirism has many passives and admitedly many downsides like sun damage, weakness to fire, gaurds hunting you if you aren't careful, but the passive bonuses are numerous and get progressively more powerful until you feed and these effects are constant, not lasting only a minute long.
Michael Weiske Not being weak to fire, not getting debuffed during the day and it wont change your characters appearance when in human form. Idk about you but I create my character how I want it to look.
Nor do you get hungry.
If Lycanthropy was uncontrollable due to rage or hunger, werewolves would make the worst office workers. Running out of staples, their computers crash, the copier jams or they have to work through lunch and.....rrrrrrrrrarrrrgh!

being a werewolf literally means you can oneshot an entire dungeon when u are lower levels....even at high levels tbh lol
Whenever I see werewolves and vampires, I always try to imagine what their situation would be if they had self-control. Vampires for example.... they seem to only and always feed on humans. Werewolves however could live off of wildlife alone if they are strong enough of mind... in theory I'd imagine. That is why I'll always prefer werewolves over vampires. :p
Voltorn Elda true, the companions can control the beast inside them, sinding was an unlucky bastard tho
Vampires can use blood potions though.

most people seem to be missing one of the most fun things about being a werewolf.. the power attack that launches enemies. especially if you have it so you and your follower can transform into a werewolf, and start throwing enemies around. they fly across the room and takes a few seconds to get up, by which time you can both be ripping them apart as they try to stand back up.
When ever I transform against an opponent I say "Foolish child this isn't even my final form!!!"
I loved my berserk orc werewolf build. You still retain the berserk bonus in wolf form and if you are a fully upgraded wolf with the ring you get from the werewolves in solstheim you become pretty much OP. Also hot keying ring of hircine for easy access helps too. I remember tearing and eating through entire dungeons with the build and never once going back to human form until all enemies are long dead. I miss this game sometimes.

Depends if you can control it. It'd be terrible walking outside one night, then suffering a painful transformation and then wake up naked in the local tavern, covered in blood and guts of innocents.
I think that if you are blessed directly by Hircine, then you have complete control over lycanthropy. However, if you are bitten/infected, it becomes pot luck as to whether you become feral or just hangry, and when/if you are forced to transform.
"What big ears I have?" you should check out the rest of me...
Nice 😁
Oh myy..! [/Takei]
Wow
There is a book in Skyrim that gives some information on what physically happens to a person when they transform. I'm trying to remember off the top of me head. But, I remember it saying something about the heart rate increases and that it is stressful on the heart. So, it seems like a stressful and painful transformation. I don't know if they are still suffering once they are fully turned. But, I think it is possible that some are not physically able to handle the transformation and could suffer from a heart attack.
From just observation it seems that how a person handles the transformation depends on the person. The twins Farkas and Vilkas could probably help us understand it a bit more.
Farkas is physically strong, dull witted but his temper is more like that of your family pet dog. They said he had a difficult transformation. When you cure him, he says it feels like dipping into a warm mug of mead. That he had aches that he didn't know he had. So being in beast form is physically exhausting to the human form. I'm not sure if he ever lost control. If he did, I don't think he remembers. But, I don't think Farkas remembers much of anything. He seems to be pretty much the same before and after he is cured.
Vilkas on the other hand, seems to be struggling with it. He is physically fit. But, he is the more intelligent one of the twins. So his senses are not dull. He is more aware of it. So, I think he is overthinking it and it becomes an obsession. He's more short tempered and edgy. It clouded his judgement and it was easy for him to be blinded by vengeance. He was worried that the blood lust would over take him. Both him and his brother seemed very relieved, once they are cured.
"The Physicalities of Werewolves"
One of my favorite aspects of the werewolf form is the anonymity, i use it for most of my assassination quests because the guards won't recognize you if you transform outside of town
A disturbing fact about Skyrim is that no one can go to the bathroom, so people are constantly peeing and shitting in their clothes.
If your a werewolf, you don't need to worry about that. Just lift a leg in your neighbor's garden and be done with it.😺😼🐺
Nah, that's why there's so many buckets scattered around.
Why?..
I become a werewolf, but rarely transform. It's nice when I need to dish out some serious melee damage outside of stealth, but the loss of benefits from most gear and the ability to use spells is a big drawback to me. It's more of an OS (as in, "oh, s***!) thing.
My 5th character, the one I’ve RP’d with the most, goes on regular trips as a werewolf. Every few days he’ll just wonder off, transform and run around in the woods. It’s strangely relaxing, even to me in real life. Once in a while I’ll find something interesting, and come back the next day to check it out properly.
He also when on a revenge crusade after Kodlak died, keeping one werewolf hunt going without end until the silver hand were dead. It took 9 hours in real life.
I later downloaded and met Inigo.
I told him becoming a werewolf was the best decision I’d ever made.
I planned to become a werewolf on my illusion assassins build because sometime its more fun to join the blood-mosh pit of mayhem when you are the werewolf and faster to clear the entire fort/dungeon than just watching from safe place
I always liked werewolves more than vampires. American Werewolf in London is one of my favorite movies.
Transforming in a porno theater? Sure why not?! I also like the Howling (only the 1st one) and oddly the only SciFi channel original movie I truly liked was Dog Soldiers. Training mission in the Scotland Highlands gets interrupted by a pack of werewolves picking off the soldiers one by one, awesome!
Lord Phobius Porno theater? I think you're confused. I remember him transforming in his girlfriend's house, then in a regular theater. A friend of mine in high school, thought he seen a werewolf on night while driving home.
No dude at the end it was actually a porno theater he transformed in. Watch the movie again, you'll see. Also one night I was driving to Taco Bell on the other side of town after work, and I saw this big black canine run across the street into the grass land on the other side of the street. Now as I live in a semi-rural small city, we do in fact have coyotes wander into the outskirts, but this fuckin thing was NOT a coyote!
Lord Phobius Where I grew up and went to school is a very rural area. I mean the town has one main street, two gas stations, one grocery, one little diner, one bar which looks more like a wild west saloon, and it's completely surrounded by mountains and forests. At first he thought it was a skinwalker, but the nearest Native American reservation which is the Zuni Reservation, which is known for skinwalkers. Is too far away for it to be a skinwalker, and what he described didn't sound like any skinwalker I've ever seen. He said it looked like a large wolf, with black fur, but it stood up like a man. He said it turned looked at his car for a few seconds. Then took one leap over the highway, then another up the mountain side and it was gone.
Sounds pretty crazy to see something like that! Not an image easily erased from one's mind. What I saw didn't stand up but darted across the street on all fours. It also had thick black fur and looked as big as maybe a great dane or St. bernard-sized canine. It kinda ran like how the Skyrim werewolves' sprint animation looks, oddly enough. This was all under the street light too, so I saw it pretty clearly given my distance to the creature.
Thanks for this video!
I wonder where the dragon born ends up when he dies. Sworn his soul to lile 13 daedra.
He’s probably split into different parts and sent to hircine’s hunting grounds/coldhabour,Sovngarde,etc
@@simoneidson21 damn he must be very powerful for his soul to remain intact even tho it split up into so many parts
@@simoneidson21 I think since he’s the dragon born he gets to chose, like a blessing from Akatosh. Or he could become like talos and be a god maybe.
I think he kinda got captured by hermamora
They probably pass his soul around like a joint
Diesease Immunity then forget about it
You had me sold until you said shitty sleep
Foxfire Inferno same
Edit* it’s one in the morning, tossing and turning. Eventually I give up and read a book or sometimes get on the internet. Usually fall asleep around 3-4
It's 4 AM right now, I usually go to sleep at 6
Ranga... dang man you got me beat!
I felt that being a were wolf was a bit too op. So I got a mod that unwillingly transforms you into a werewolf depending on the moon and what chance you’ll transform. I love the uncertainty of it, and how it can be inconvenient during a quest. It makes it funny and unpredictable!
Werewolves in eso: take extra poison damage
Skyrim: disease immunity
🤔
They needed to nerf us 🐺
poison is different from disease lmao
@@mr.nazareth4501 shhhh child hes learning
I doubt you guys will read it but licantropy In TES isnt that random if ou havent been converted by hircine himself, control of the transformations, frquency, blodlust, etc all depends on the strain. Fun fact: in the second era (ESO) there was a strain of licantropy in highrock that not only could control their transformations, bloodlust and kept their mind mostly intact when transfomed, but also could feed on roots and fruits and even were organized. Sadly a group of reachman raised an ancient alpha from the dead and made him raise a werewolf army to take over high rock, they even had infiltrators acting as spies on settlements and took over many settlements including camlorn. After the reachman eand the alfa were killed, the werewolves disbanded and the daggerfall covenant decided to purge them because they were too dangerous.
youngsage, thijs bit of juicy lore makes me yurn for hircince's gift now
This***
I read it. Thanks for the info. I'm nerdy when it comes to Elder Scrolls. Find myself in my house reading the books I find all the time.
I guess it would really depend on the nature of Hircine's realm. how literal is Hunting? do you only have hunting animals for sport and food? can you instead hunt for knowledge? probably not but hunting for eternity sounds boring
it's better then getting raped by Molag bal
Inigo the khajiit lol
If I lived in Skyrim I would enter the thieves' guild, petition Lord Hircine for his favor and blessing, and sneak into Hermaus Mora's realm as often as possible, gaining as much knowledge as I can in pursuit of one day usurping the Lord of secret knowledge.
The CatDog Build. Being a Khajiit, but becoming a Werewolf. Unarmed. All Claws.
“You have been good to me, don’t come to Whiterun tomorrow”
I'm really torn about this, I would love the hunt but I prefer full control over myself in any situation. Vampire seem like fun but if it means going to Coldharbour after death I would probably spent most of my life trying not to die instead living and having fun.
I got you bro lichdom
There's something I don't understand: in Skyrim, Sindimg apparently was able to actually speak while in beast form. Is this the case to thr werecreatures in general? Or is just a randomness between many others?
João Pedro Gonçalves Guimarães well in all fairness there are dragons that can talk
Shifty 14 That don't exactly answers my question
João Pedro Gonçalves Guimarães I imagine, if they have the proper control, they can still talk.
What I mean is it’s kinda like how only some dragons can talk maybe werewolves have a language of their own and you can only speak one language corresponding to what form you are in so maybe some werewolves taught themselves English while in werewolf form
Shifty 14 Actually, all the dragons can talk. But for pride they rarely speak in mortal language. When they shout they speak
Fun video Scott
My routine on skyrim. After prologue.
-Go get the lover's stone power.
-Companions- immune to disease
-Main-until i get unrelenting force
-Thieves guild- skelaton key and nightingale armor
-Dark brotherhood
-dawnstar
-the academy
-dawnguard
-markauth (everything revolving around it)
-everything in capital
-All the side quest
-main quest
-dragonborn and everything on the island.
And here's where I recommend including a mod. In this case, Moonlight Tales. Again, there's added challenges, and the benefits are worth it, if you can overcome the new limitations.
Without changing default settings, full moons, once every 12 in-game nights, will force your transformation. Another downside is that the perk that allows you to feed on animals and monsters still allows you to extend your bloodlust, but does *NOT* improve your perk progression. Only victims with Black Souls can push this progression.
The best initial benefit I've noticed is the Wolfkin Alliance feature. In other words, all wolves and werewolves always recognize you as one of their own, regardless of your form, and will not aggro at you unless you attack first. In fact they may even come to your defense as needed.
Remember, Hircine's realm is all about the hunt - whether you're the hunter or the prey is just as mutable as the werebeasts.
Thank you for the advice
"That thing! It was unlike any creature I've ever seen. Faster than any man, stronger than a bear."
-Some terrified traveler
Depends if your doing a FudgeMuppet Build that requires it.
I’ve spent many months worth of time alone in the mountains. Learning to track, survive, and flourish on my own. I hate being around lots of people and for the most part enjoy being left alone.
I would totally say yes, it’s worth it to me
I cured my character Lycanthropy , since She Worships Kynareth.
I saw your video on werewolf perks but i can't see the werewolf skill tree in my game do you have to finish every companion quest first to see it or is it only on pc and the special edition of skyrim because i only play the original skyrim for the xbox 360
UtopianMagic1408 You need to have the Dawnguard DLC for the werewolf tree to be accessible.
I used the disease to walk skyrim faster. Its better than horses
Tomás Ribeiro Girardi also for fast traveling when you are overenconbered
The Dragonborn's soul isn't affected by vampirism or Lycanthropy.
You go to the spirit world of the avatar Sovengard.
Body affected, mind unafflicted
Hey fudge, so I was wondering about the physics of the elder scrolls on nirn and beyond, so the adera when making nirn must have decided on the laws of nature right? If not where did they come from but furthermore why did they choose these exact physical laws and why do most of the dedra have these same laws for their realms with a few exceptions? Please respond saying you saw this and I'd love to see a video on it!
My Skyrim caracter: "Khajit"
Guard: "is that fur coming out of your ears?"
Me: "Dude. I'm a Khajit you moron."
Hell yeah, I once took on a dragon in werewolf and won!
What difficulty and what level were you?
@@KarmasAB123 my first revered dragon kill(after getting killed like 50 times by it) was by transforming into a werewolf
What if I told you that in Hircine's realm of the Hunt you're not the hunter ...
you hunt beasts your not the prey you stupid
Inigo the khajiit You can't spell what I am assuming is your first language. So, who's the stupid one?
That would suck to be honest.
I mean, in Morrowind you had to fight off werewolves.
I would ASSUME that I'd be one of them.
Werewolf hunters be like:
Is a werewolf worth it?
Me: hell yeah especially you know that annoying main quest when you have to be a spy in the elves party welp i transformed in level 5 to a wereqolf and killed everyone pretty worth it annoying main quest
Great vid m8
What about other werebeasts?
Marta Tarasiuk Don't have much information on those, do we?
Like Werebears? Where? Bears? Men that are bears?
Marta Tarasiuk they literally talked about that...
They did? Where? When?
You mean Brian from Dream Daddy?
The sole reason I’ve had difficulty determining which I like more is due to the immortality factor, if werewolf’s were like the Lycans from underworld, immortal just like vampires, it’d honestly be so easy to choose a werewolf/lycan
I like being a lyncathrope, especially with the Dawnguard dlc. Sleep bonuses are nice though. I have a build where my character kept the lycantrophy because she wanted to find a cure for everyone with the beast blood.
Guard: "Is that fur coming out of your ears?"
Dovahkiin: "Big deal. There are women with feathers coming out of their chests."
