    PE foam MOD alone makes those marbly sounds , ( like the spray can shaking motion makes ) that is the sound I love.

    • @creationfied

      I think 2 or even one layers are enough, having more eliminates the sound u originally look for with tapes, which is the vibration of the bubbles of air between the pcb and the tape aswell as the tape itself, think of the tape as a really wide string or stretched cloth, when plucked it makes that poppy noise

    for anyone who still wants to do this but cant find pe foam, tissues work great. Just make sure you get clean tissues with no moisture (i would wash hands, sanitise and dry) and then just lay the tissues in as flat as possible, as many layers as you would like just so you can fit the PCB back in, and it works just the same.

    I'd use a thicker piece of foam than that in the video, usually the foam that comes from packaging tomatoes, you can get some from your grocery store or restaurant when they're throwing it out; one layer for the face and 3 for the back (one will be taped down to the base of the case with double side tape); then I'll tape the same foam inside the space bar, shift, and enter keys; now the keyboard makes a nice quiet thocking noise .... but it's nothing compare to the Logitech k70 (the first batch that came out, not the later batches that came out years later) that was near silent, it only got squeeky after 13 years of use, and the plastic became to brittle to risk taking the keys off and lubing the sisscor switches. .

    Can i have some advice from u ? I just bought a beautiful mod( pc75b plus) from akko, but my J button doesnt work, do you have any software or anytips for me that i can fix it ? I just opened it and that switch doesnt work, peace

      get a new switch ig

    • @killakeyboards1945
      @killakeyboards1945  2 года назад

      Search up keyboard tester on google and test your J button. If that doesn't work try plug in a different switch. If a different switch doesnt work, try using a tweazer or paper clip and contact the holes where the switch pins go in. If that doesn' work, your hotswap socket might be defected. Just have a look around the socket and see if there is anything burnt or loose. Its a bit hard to trouble shoot over text but I hope this helps you

    I feel like in such tape mod videos people should be recommending the right type of tape. If you buy the wrong type of masking tape you will absolutely destroy/fry your board. You need one that's not conductive. And unfortunately there is very, very little information about which ones are and aren't conductive. I want to do the tape mod on all my boards. But I'm not sure what tape to use. And even hipyo uses tape that's slightly conductive and might ruin your board. Something that he keeps telling people while he keeps using the same tape.

    great video, I was wondering though would it work if you put foam below the pcb, instead of putting tape there ? my keyboard sounds quite metallic, i'm guessing because there is some empty space in it, so i was wondering how something like that might work, or would the tape just be better? thank you

    • @killakeyboards1945
      @killakeyboards1945  2 года назад +1

      yep, people use to use PE foam as case foam also. Although it might not be the best material, its better than nothing. Perhaps look into using poly fill

    The difference between masking tape and painters tape is painters tape can easily come off but masking tape sticks a lot and is harder to remove if I I so this I might use painters tape because if I don’t like it can be removed easily

    • @killakeyboards1945
      @killakeyboards1945  2 года назад

      See if your switches have penetrated through the pe foam when inserting them in. They're more likely to bend if you don't have it straight
