Lyrics
We’ve got a choice but still we’d rather choose to suffer
‘Cause there’s no escape once the fuse is lit
Locked in this pantheon
Swimming with concrete shoes
The reaper comes to take the best of you
Can you see the writing on the wall?
Impermanence
There is a subtle space that we’ll all discover
‘Cause there is a seat reserved for the spirit
Passing through one by one
Riding a torpedo
We wash away into the overflow
Can you see the writing on the wall?
We’re barricaded
‘Cause nobody wants to meet their maker
The seeds are sewn then we die alone, we die alone
Eviscerated
We’re all players in a symphony
That fights against impermanence
Again and again and again
Do you really wanna live forever?
We are so lost staring into all the colour
It hurts but reality is counterfeit
We came from the beyond
Living a cameo
One final breath and then we split in two
Can you see the writing on the wall?
Even the doomed refuse
We were born to lose
Do you really wanna live forever?
‘Cause those afraid to die will never truly live
They’ll never truly live

Sam has such an insane ability to transition between screams and cleans. For a metal musician his cleans are so good. What a singer, what a band and what a performance.
Best voice out there in my opinion 👌🏼
You're absolutely right. It's effortless for him.
Wish so bad Tom was still around he was the inventor behind the scenes of this whole new wave of metalcore or whatever you wanna call it.
And the transition between Fry scream and growl oh my god… do you really wanna live forever
@@erichmika2316 Isn’t that Josh doing the lows?
I don't know how they made the original sound even more epic, but they did it
Hi Nik, i love you
Because it's them that's why! Don't need to ask about that anyway!
Oh. And, hi nik👋
@@hugov6280 Nik Nocturnal:Yes, I love you too! Love❤️
And, those orchestral musician supporters & background instruments within too! Bravolous!!
Cheers🍻👏✌️🙏👍
Man.... There is something so powerful about metal with orchestra.
I agree. Metallica's S and M concert. Devils dance gives me chills. Just like this. So sexy
Alter Bridge at Royal Albert Hall is worth looking at.
I'll definitely check that out. Thanks
No. I disaggree there, well, as far as know..
There is nothing as powerful as metal + classical orchestra.
... maybe a full organ AND an full orchestra AND metal.
But that might be like additionally shining a laser light right into someones retinas while accidentally buring that someone within their proposal on an ancient graveyard under unicorn poo and letting them settle buried six feet deep for at least ... until... the next full moon, I guess.
@@AzathothsAlarmClock It's an old one.
Yet, I appreciate your respect.
Can we please have an Architects tour with a live orchestra???? WE NEED THIS!!!!!!
Those tickets would be expensive as fuuuuuuck lol you gotta pay all those people to travel and shit. Granted it would be incredible.
@@VNKNOWN_TX and?
@@VNKNOWN_TX so many fans would pay big dollerydoos to see this live.

3:42 the expression on Dan’s face is priceless. He’s overflowing in joy
Watching this and realising you're witnessing something very special... Imagine that feeling being part of something so special. Must be amazing!
That was such a sweet moment. He's living and we are here for it 🥰

He deserved that moment ❤️😭
I love that woman's elegant headbang at 2:55 like she knows that she is part of something incredible happening. Hats off to everyone who participated in this.
She knew that build up, solo scream & breakdown nailed it! ahahaha
Maddie Cutter. She's one of the heads of the Parallax Orchestra. Definitely he's her feet wet with all the awesome work her and the team have done.

Seeing the smile on Dan’s face at 3:42 almost brought me to tears, Tom would be so proud. This version is incredible.
Tom would be so proud af 🥺
Forgive my ignorance, but who is Tom?

Was gonna comment the same,
Seeing the smile on Dan's face made me automatically smile and happy 😁
Dan’s smile of satisfaction at the end is Bliss. Fruition comes a long way. This song is a permanent masterpiece.
A DVD or buyable stream with this concert would be stunning and I'm sure so many would buy it! 😍 PLEEEEAAASE! 🥺

Shout out to the composer! I love the fact they can take something this heavy and add such intense orchestra music. Such a great band all around!
It was fun.
I always said that Orchestral music and jazz fits nicely with heavy music.
There's actually more of this subgenre of metal. It's known as symphonic metal, and it's AWESOME
It's so fucking sexy. Metal with an orchestra. The part with the chimes gives me chills

U gotta hear this !!!!!!!!!!!!
Those deep screams for Winston's parts, Damn, Sam really nailed it...
Again and again and again and again and again!
yeh i was worried cuz sam dosnt usually go that low

U gotta hear this !!!!!!!!!!!!
josh's vocals were incredible not only on this song but the whole set!! love that the band is letting him shine more and i can't wait to see him screaming/singing more in architects songs the way he does in sylosis.
YES. This was the first time I've heard Josh's voice in an Architects song. I get Josh not wanting to step on any toes... But the dude is one of the most talented guys in the world. You've got Josh, one of the best guitarist/vocalist combos in metal, imo, and Sam, one of the greatest voices in metalcore. They need to let Josh shine a little more. When that day comes, Architects will be unstoppable.
@@alecdawg11 I bet it'll be like when Ricky started doing co-lead vocals with Motionless in White.
Watching this I get the impression Sam is far more comfortable with cleans. And it may in large part be why the band has softened up in the last album and soon 2.
@@alecdawg11 He's not walking on any glass lol. He does vocals for all live sets , sort of backup screams for Sam since he needs to conserve his voice
Sam's ability to go from his screaming voice to his dynamic singing voice is just... 😩👌🏼
Jeeeeez the breakdown sounds incredible! Hats off to whoever did the mix
Zakk Cervini for the live audio and Simon Hendry for the orchestral :)
Just the breakdown…… that’s border line Ice nine kills magnificent. All of it.
@@travismiller7596 Imagine comparing Architects to the gimmick that is INK.

I can only take credit for the orchestra mix, but thanks man.
The chime bell hits in time with every other snare during the breakdown go so hard
yessss, the best part of the song. This bells are killing me every time x0
2:51 this gives me goosebumps every bloody time. Perfect harmony between orchestra, band and Sam's vocals. Absolutely brilliant
The most impressive thing here is Sam's absolute mad vocal skills he nails Winston's deep growls and first time I heard this I thought they just got him back in the studio.
God Sam sounds ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. What a performance, both cleans and screams.
Before this drops I recommend checking out Death Is Not Defeat live at Abbey Road on Spotify if you haven't already
Tom would be proud.
one of the greatest moment if not the highlight of the entire show. Love this version so so much. Sending lots of love to you guys
For me, unironically, Flight without feathers was the best son from the stream. I loved many others, but that one went from being the least favourite to one of the tops.
Здорово, что каждый участник этого мероприятия получает кайф от процесса! Это видно по их улыбкам на лицах!

I'm a 6'5, khaki-wearing, bush-wandering South African and a metal song just brought me to tears. This song is GOOD.
Я взрослый мужик
Но в течение прослушивания данного материала у меня накатывались слезы
А появляются они тогда, когда я ощущаю наивысшую степень искусства
Браво!
MASTERPIECE.
Cheers to Josh doing scream chorus!
And he just did his own badass backing vocals, he didn't try and imitate Sam at all. I think that's so cool when someone adds their own style to the song and for him, really gives you a modern Sylosis feel with those back ups.
I watched the concert like 14 times. And I missed it dearly ever since. Stellar job.
The conductor is jamming so so hard, the chimes interspersed throughout was an amazing touch to the song. Love these guys. 👏👏👏
The bells add such an ominous tone with such a bright sound. Brilliant and makes the track for me.
sam's vocals are insane! he amazes me every time i hear him. the whole atmosphere in this video is just incredible!
Finally. I love this band so much. Starting the day with that thing... my day can't be ruined anymore 🥰😍🖤
It's great that every participant of this event gets high from the process! You can see it in their smiles on their faces!
3:05 Those bells (I don´t know the name) sound gorgeous. They contrast a lot with the song, yet they make it richer.
Tubular Bells 🙂
They sounded incredible.
Tubular bells used a lot in Rap music now too very heavy bells
I really wasn't a fan of their last album (which is okay, artists change and taste is subjective) but holy shit both orchestral versions have been insane and i can see myself loving the whole album in this version!
this has definitely more organic sound than what you can hear on the album
This is definitely the way the album was meant to be heard. Every song from this is superior to its album version.
@@JacobAvnerPr1mus3 same can be said with Holy Hell despite only doing one song live (Death Is Not Defeat) it's twice as good as it already is.
Lol what that was easily the best Album to drop last year. Every song was above an 7/10 most were almost perfect.
Highly recommend you watch Choir Noir’s cover of Architect’s song Doomsday. It’s really beautiful.
All the tracks live at Abbey Road will be out on March 25!
Let. That. Sink. In.

This song allowed me to go through the difficult time of the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and I listened to it over and over again. I have a very strange relationship with this piece. At the same time, it lets you shout out all the anger and, on the other hand, tells a sad story. It also voices the horror of war and shows who we are as humanity.
Same.Slava Ukraine.
Ukraine not that suffering than Palestinian
This is a bucket list item for me. One of only 5. I’d sacrifice a lot to experience this live - a band I love, such as Architects, with a symphony. One day…
Именно это и есть музыканты, именно это и есть музыка. Когда каждый знает своё дело и получает от него удовольствие. Сэм как всегда великолепен
Как приятно видеть эмоции каждого музыканта, играющего эту песню! Превосходно!
Bury me the day Dan's smile stops bringing me joy.
You know what makes this even more amazing? The classical musicians making those metal faces as they feel the groove while they play their respective classical parts to the song! It's so wholesome and metal at the same time haha! Amazing! What a time to be alive!
It's not like it's new. Symphonic metal has been around sense Therion. Bands like Epica has also done this twice with a orchestra and choir.
When i saw them live i had low expectation in terms of how the hell he' ll perform those vocals from studio to Live concert. Well i was absolutely stunned when i heard that exactly clean and clear vocals in a Live that you hear. I ve heard hundreds of bands live. No one like them.

That orchestra was feeling the bands energy for sure. So badass
So amazing. Metal with an orchestra. Gives me chills
And that conductor ❤
What I love about this song is how everyone seems to be having a blast. When there's a zoom on an orchestra players they are smiling from ear to ear
I have really been blown away with this song, the breakdown with the bell sounds extremely brutal.
Congratulations guys keep it up
I agree, most amazing part
@@staceyseward402 yess, this bells are x_x
Writing orchestral parts to an already crowded metal song, is a really really difficult task. And then to make the song better from the added orchestral parts, is 10 times harder on top of that difficulty. I don't know how they did it, but it was achieved. Incredible. Just incredible! Wow!
This is totally... Breathtaking. Goosepumps all over the body, it's not just epic it's EPIC !!!
P.S. Если кто-то потерял Игоря Николаева, то вот он: напился до любви к металкору и ушёл дирижёром в оркестр, чтобы хоть как-то в эти непростые времена послушать лайв Архитекторов.
ору
That conductor was having such a great time
My God guys!!!! I Hope to see you in a live gig with orchestra 🤩🤩🤩🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Ive watced this alot. Theres nothing not perfect about it. Perfection from all parts.
Between this banger and Animals with the orchestra. You guys are really making a case to add the orchestra permanently and rename your selves to Orchetects. It sounds fucking sick.
You know.... I think a lot more bands need to do these orchestral sessions. These have been absolutely incredible to listen to and watch. I would love to see this become a regular thing in the heavy rock space.
Like it is hard to expect anything but the very best of Architects, but the fact they deliver every time is still quite awesome. Love it! Thanks guys.
This is absolutely the most incredible blend of metal and contemporary orchestra that I have ever heard. To say you guys did an amazing job would be such a drastic understatement.
Великолепная работа проделана, потрясающее исполнение. Определённо шедевр. Жду весь альбом записанный с живым оркестром!
I been following these guys from when they had a small follwoing. LOVE where they are musically...this is just next level!!!

I fucking love it when rock/punk/metal bands decide to do play with a live orchestra.
Architects is the best band this is not a drill it's a fact. Powerful band you can't deny the musicianship.

Is anyone else SUPER EXCITED about orchestral music? I loved BMTH@RAH. And I think the orchestral arrangement suits this song soooo much. And... seeing a conducter headbangig? Spot on
Those deep growls were incredible. I’d love to see more of that from sam
The way the whole song sounded like if you guys were asked to write a film score is so good. Just built up so well and the way the orchestra fit the guitars timbre during the breakdown was a fucking masterpiece.
What a performance. The transitions of vocals are perfect.
A big thumbs-up from the South African metal community 🤘
I can't believe this is free for everyone to listen to.
This performance is amazing !!
Sam's vocals are insane really a master of his craft. This whole performance is unreal such a wall of sound. Incredible.
How much better can music be. What an awesome mix! And the smiles you see from musicians there, probably thinking to themselves how good it sounds. Well done, I wish I could hear all the performance!
I listen it for like a week and can’t get enough.
The voice, the music. That’s just wow
Impressive how they're able to keep the energy in the song despite the softer instrumentation.
I wouldn't really say softer tbh. Of anything it's twice as powerful.
