What a meta demo, @Cat! You showed the autoscrolling while actually seeing it on screen. Then you mentioned how the software sometimes doesn't recognize the end of a section, and whoops, it happened in real time. I appreciate you filming this as a live demo, and hats off for your master eCamm skills to show the various views. Nicely done!
I tried it out and gave up. For a start, it too long to load. And while it started out well, it soon started becoming really glitchy. It would often hang on sentences and not scroll down in time. This was frustrating for recording. It would be terrible for any live uses. In the end I gave up. But that’s when I discovered the pedal as a scrolling control. This is brilliant. It is shaving off huge amounts of time and means that you can really set the pace as you want. This is the game changer for me. The Prompter and the Pedal are an amazing combination.
Thanks, Cat. Perfect presentation - it showed how much is already possible and how much more still has to be done. Definitely, less blank space between the chapters would be better. And as You say, showing the first line of the next chapter would be helpful. I myself prefer Slides for the Teleprompter. You can either time those beforehand and set then a time for them, or move them manually.
I completely agree with the issues you raised, and I have experienced the same results other than the crashing. I think by the next release, it will hopefully hit the mark. Great video!
Thanks for making this video! I was having some trouble but your video helped trouble shoot for me. Turns out I was impatient and wasn't waiting for the ready signal on my screen as it took longer than I thought that it should, so I kept thinking something was wrong the first time I tried to get it ready to go.
Thanks for the video! I have experienced the same problems as you have, except the crashes. One other point is that I wish the unit could fold to a smaller size. The current configuration makes it difficult to pack and travel without damaging it. A foldable or 2-part version would be preferable for on-the-go use....
Great overview Cat. I am loving the Prompter, has become an essential tool. I tried out voice prompt, but it was a bit inconsistent, so, for now, I am going to keep riding my start/stop play button on my streamdeck. I always write my scripts in Wrike, then paste them close to the time I do a podcast. Incidentally, I got their foot pedal so I could be hands free, but can't figure out how to make it silent. Congratulations on 25,000 followers.
Excellent video - thank you. I use the Elgato foot control, but am very excited to try voice sync sometime in the future after a few more of the kinks get ironed out. Greetings!
Heyyy! A fresh face to me a just stumbled upon near and dear to my interests! Really like the cuts of your jib, vibe, airy humorous vibe, and your authentic self… subscribed! I also looked at this Elgato teleprompter wishing it had the voice scroll but passed on it, but also because you hit a ton of bugs and quirks that I found researching the heck out of this teleprompter. It wasn’t issues with the teleprompter itself but the software itself.
I receive this Prompter tomorrow- please use other apps with it so that I can search for a backup if I don't like the included software. Great video also.
Hi Cat - I've expereinced just about all of this too on a Mac Studio - I'm going to roll back to a previous version before the voice sync feature to see if its more reliable.
Merci pour cette vidéo très intéressante et merci pour l’ensemble de vos publications sur RUclips toujours agréables suivre et qui apportent beaucoup de valeur ajoutée 🙂
A nice addition to your desk setup might be a foot pedal haha I use it to switch between chapters or between slides. Keeps my hands free and makes sure that the desk doesn't move, since I have my teleprompter mounted to my desk - so when the desk shakes, the camera shakes...
I'm *so* glad I'm not the only one who has had an issue with it not wanting to advance at the end of a section. It's so frustrating! It completely takes me out of the flow of presenting.
When I hit Play button, I have "Preparing" text message on top right corner near NVIDIA icon on Elgato Prompter Screen - and nothing happens. What I doing wrong?
Thanks for this. We were using the prompter for the first time yesterday and I wondered if voice scroll would work for us as we were filming with the camera and computer a few meters away from the speaker as we were doing a wide shot. We had to have someone other than the speaker control the forwarding as we couldn’t quite nail the speed. A well functioning voice scroll would have helped. But it seems it isn’t quite there yet. Hopefully it improves.
Could you please make a video explaining how you set up your Streamdeck + ? I really struggle with figuring out which functions to put where so it makes sense! Any help much appreciated!
Hi, I have tried the auto-scroll, but it was a bit wonky. Seems it has a hard time, on occasion, getting the auto function working. When this happens, I use the program 'Teleprompter.' This works perfectly in the display mode.
This was very informative. I appreciate how you pointed out the shortcomings of the software. Hopefully by the time I save up the funds to buy the teleprompter that Elgato will have made your suggested improvements. QUESTION: I use a word processor (Pages) to write my scripts. Is it possible to just copy and paste the scrips from it into the teleprompter software like I’m currently doing with PromptSmart Pro?
Great demo and it's so luxurious for us that _you_ took the time 🙂 to test all this. I'm still on the fence and won't buy the Prompter until the quirks have been solved. And who knows, maaaybe they've got the bigger version in the pipeline. Not because I'd want to get more text into that reading area, but for the sake of using it as a monitor and be able to get more into the frame so to say.
Just keep in mind size & distance. If you are close to the teleprompter and it's large, that means more visible eye movements. But further away gives you more range.
I have the same problem as you where it doesn't advance when it gets to the bottom visible portion of the text. Very frustrating. I was hoping they would have an update by now but still no beuno.
Great video, Cat. You hit everything I've had an issue with. I feel confident that Elgato will eventually make this smooth and consistent. In the meantime, I've been doing everything in one long chapter, and finding ways to indicate new paragraphs or sections (like preceding a new graf with something like a ▪︎Since the new text stays relatively close to what I'd been finishing up, and since the software takes its timing from you, this seems to be working :)
Can you suggest some good script reading apps. Also can I use elgato's prompter app even if i don't have a prompter because I do voiceovers on face less videos
I just got a Prompter, thanks for all the useful information. Very timey for me. Thank you very much for not using any, always distracting, background music.
Great video as always! Does the app do the speech recognition locally, or does it have to send your audio to the cloud? In other words, can you be completely offline while using Voice Sync?
Cat, your videos are always helpful. But no one has made a video about my problem. I need help with a big problem. I have the Elgato Prompter, Facecam Pro4K60fps, the Elgato Streamdeck plus and I cannot find a way to be able to read from the prompter or even access it from either Zoom or StreamYard. I have the Wavelink software and the camera hub installed, but nothing helps and I cannot find any RUclips videos that tell me how to put this all together and make it work. Thanks in advance.
Whilst the script is displaying on the prompter can you also have it display and scroll in sync on the computer monitor. So you can change where you are looking if needed?
The Camera Hub software follows along, so you can glance at the software on another monitor. While filming this when I was looking at Camera Hub, I could see the script there, too.
It does at some weight, but I wouldn't say a lot of weight. I do think it makes a difference to have a sturdy mount.

What a great demonstration! Excellent material as always. My speeches are prepared in English, but it is not my native language. I'm wondering what happens if a person says some words in a different manner or with a different accent...
I'm not sure about accents. I suppose I could try my french and see how it does 😂 I'll bet there are Prompter owners with accents who know better than me!
I use Ecamm to switch most views (like the live view of the Stream Deck). The one exception today was that I did record a separate video showing me in my studio and added that in post.
Hey, Cat (and others), I just discovered a work-around on something. I loaded six new scripts into Camera Hub and two of them seemed to not run when I clicked the play button for each. For the ones that didn't seem to respond ("Getting Ready" and the "Active"), I found that if I clicked inside the text of the script and *then* clicked the play button, everything now worked. Whew. Now if I can just figure out why it sometimes doesn't advance mid-script...
Hmm, I wonder if someone could make a training mode, where it “learns” (can tweak parameters) your speaking style and how and when you manually scroll, in order to automate it after it has seen enough examples. (Perhaps a more advanced training system would be needed, using eye tracking to match the words you speak… maybe I should look at that Apple Vision Pro developer kit?)
For me, at least using portuguese script, the voice recognition is very inconsitent... Sometimes it's just stuck and won't move even though I'm all the way down already. I'm not sure its my mic, mac or some kind of setting that I'm missing...
Not impressed! Not with your video which was great but the voice activation in the software is just unusable. What are they playing at? I have seen much better and usable voice activation on mobile apps. Why cannot Elgato get this right. Thanks for the informative video.
I have been using the voice activation on elgato prompter for some time now. It works well if the microphone is directly in line of sight of your mouth, if you are side ways it’s not so good, depending on your mic pattern of course . I have used it for multiple scripts. The movement is also ok. The software is still in beta, so you need to give it more time to improve functionality and performance

Thank you so much, Terri! It was a fun video to make 😊
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so thorough in your explanation, Ms. Mulvihill. I truly appreciate your attention to detail!
You are very welcome!
Great job with the video. It was informational.

The hands-free control is a great approach!
sounds like I need to get the pedal. I keep experiencing the same glitches as you.
I'm definitely a fan of seeing slides (or scenes) instead of a script since I'm not a big script person.
The Elgato Teleprompter is a gamechanger, this latest addition is a WINNER! I as of now haven't experienced the issues you are having.
I'm glad you aren't experiencing the glitches!
Researching getting one for my channel and ran across this. Thanks so much for taking the time! Also, your set and lighting is nice!
Great demo, you are amazing, thank you so much.
Amazin Video Cat!!! I just bought my Prompter today and will be installing tomorrow!!!
Hope you enjoy it!
Eric, How has the first month with your prompter been?
Thanks if you see this and reply.
Thank you Cat for your down to earth personal review.

The start/stop does feel like more reliable control at the moment! And keeping things quiet is also something I strive for.

Nice video, love the live view of the delay or not capturing your words at the end of the video! Well done!

The pedal is a nice option. Unfortunately my pedal stopped working and I haven't contacted support about replacing it again (it's my 2nd pedal).

my prompter button is greyed out so I can't pass go. Been working on it for an hour without success. If you have any tips as to why, I'd be thankful.

I suspect they will continue to improve it!
Question: when you’re recording do you record the audio and video separately or do you do them both at once (OBS studio, etc.) ?
Please compare different script reading apps for elgato Thanks
Have you found that voice scrolling acts the same if you use your built in computer mic?
Could you please make a video explaining how you set up your Streamdeck + ? I really struggle with figuring out which functions to put where so it makes sense! Any help much appreciated!

I'm researching this now! Any software that works on a computer will work in the Prompter in display mode.
@@CatMulvihill Found a perfect software named powerprompter. Cheap and allows multiple control surfaces
Great video, very funny, and very helpful.
I just got a Prompter, thanks for all the useful information. Very timey for me. Thank you very much for not using any, always distracting, background music.
I'm excited for you!
Can you not pause and then restart your constant scroll with a keyboard shortcut or the StreamDeck?
Great video as always! Does the app do the speech recognition locally, or does it have to send your audio to the cloud? In other words, can you be completely offline while using Voice Sync?
That is an excellent question! The Elgato site doesn't specify whether or not internet is required.
All processing is done locally on your computer 👍
Cat, your videos are always helpful. But no one has made a video about my problem. I need help with a big problem. I'm sure you've answered this, but in lieu of any Streamdeck, could one simply use the scroll wheel on the mouse to navigate the script in Camera Hub?
Oh, and thanks for making/sharing this.
Yes, you can definitely use the mouse to scroll!
Different teleprompter apps can be used with the Prompter?? Why didn’t I think of that? Please share your list.
I don't have a list at the moment, but anything that works on your computer monitor can be placed on the Prompter monitor.
@@CatMulvihill I bet people would watch a video dedicated to this subject.

The Camera Hub software follows along, so you can glance at the software on another monitor. While filming this when I was looking at Camera Hub, I could see the script there, too.
Hi, how close do you need to have the camera/prompter to see everything?
Mine is about arm's length from me. The default resolution is fairly low, so text is large enough read.
Is there a minimum requirement in term of hardware?
I read so.
I have a 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU. Will it be sufficient?
A bit of topic. Don’t you find the promoter adding a lot of weight on the camera lens? The promoter is a much heavier than I expected.
It does at some weight, but I wouldn't say a lot of weight. I do think it makes a difference to have a sturdy mount.

I have just used my Google docs script on my prompter and the scroll wheel on the mouse. It has worked quite well, but maybe it can be even better? 🌞
