And again an entertaining video, Mr Moore! Big thnx for not only showing the big happenings, but also the tranquil silence of smooth normal sailing. Wonderfull!!!! Can't wait to start cruising myself....
RICK..I have to congratulate you on a great docking maneuver. I've been an avid power boater since the age of 17 which was also the first year I bought a boat. Power boaters seem to know the move you used at the dock but you;'e the first captain on a sailing vessel I've seen do this. I sure hope others watch and learn because this is such a powerful and precise move when docking alongside a dock. I've been watching a 100 sailing channels for about two years and you're the first one to FINALLY do this. KUDOS TO YOU!!! WELL DONE! I wonder why this isn't taught in sailing school? PEACE OUT! Ü
Hmmm, lost one post, let's try again. Sitting in a hospital be less than 18 hours post op..... first look at You Tube since going under the knife and there was my best medicine .... A SSL video 🙌. Amazing coming through the Panama Canal! .... Tiki at look out. Exciting coming into the slip .... scared even veteran, seasoned sailors ...LOL. Perfecto Rick ☺ After a bunch of AM 'procedures', the Nurse told me I could go back to playing my 'games'. Educated her .... not games .... but an epic voyage! ⚓ Nothing like the call of howling monkies! Whew! 🐒 Stay safe Rick. ⛵
Cool opening sail!! Just the wind in the sail and clanging of the rigging. Pretty lazy feeling of what it’s like sailing. Especially seeing the crew just laying around. 👍👍😀
What a great day for sure. I know you've been waiting for years to reach this spot even though you're not going thru yet. It must have been an awesome feeling to be there and see it and catch it all video to boot. Enjoy your short time there and it should be fun caching up with the rally again. Everyone did a great job with the docking but i have to admit my eyes got a little large watching, waiting for a oh shit moment but i should have known you had it all under control. Thanks for another great video Rick.
Thanks for the long video Rick. Grate way to start the weekend for me. I might get to go sailing tomorrow if the weather hold up. we have had lot of flooding and the sailing club I belong to was flooded out and still is. So you have to go sailing with someone who all-ready had there boat in the water. Thanks again! John The Limo Driver from Kansas city
You guys in the Panama! Nice entrance, and it's always cool to see someone sail in. Had to laugh when they thought you lost your mind coming into the fuel dock 'hot' as they called it, not realizing you've only docked a million times or so. And look at Valentina putting away the Doyle's, she's really turning into a sailor now. That sound of the Howlers never ceases to amaze s it reverberates down to the soul, and glad you added it. Hope you are all well when you get this.
Nice vid Rick and crew. The entrance through the break wall was a place we used to spearfish. Actually the entire break wall was a fun place to explore, if the ocean wasn't crashing over. Did that as kids growing up there in the Canal Zone. Unfortunately the old Cristobal Yacht Club is no more, but that is where all of the sailboats used to go. They moved it over to the old Fort Sherman. Shimmey Beach area. There's a super lobster spot right in there by the yacht club.
I had a hunch you were exact on point on the landing. You showed the novice how it is done. Keep up the good work. One day you will go through. For now, being there with you through video was good enough.
As someone who works in transportation management (and specifically intermodal transportation), I love seeing the container ships. Now you're talking my language! #MoveThatFreight
Check into getting into the Chagras River below the dam. Bar at the entrance might be an issue? If you get into the river your surrounded by jungle with Parrots, Howlers and Tocans. My be a crocodile so careful when swimming.
WOW - what a great lift to wake up too! So happy for you Capt., seems like a dream come true for you that we get to be a small (but valuable) part of. I awake today feeling the best I have felt since my surgery on Monday and the bonus is this gift from you - THANK YOU and Congrats to you AND Your Subscribers, supporters and most importantly your family of Patreon supporters. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Rick .....That was a "Captain Ron" approach😂🤣😂⛵ good one . Love the panning shots very relaxing. Hope you enjoyed panama ,!will be taking note on your travels there . Fairwinds from the @captains.chair
The stories I could tell you about Shelter Bay and Ft Sherman. I was stationed there in 97/98 with the US Army and The Jungle Operations Training Center.
Go easy on the Captain Ron Docking methods. Lol. I about had a heart attack. What a teaser! The Lady SO CLOSE to the Pacific! What can I say just looking forward to Polynesia through your lenz!
Another great video Rick, quick question for you,, at the start of this video you had wind at 160 degrees looked like about 15 - 20 knots but you only had the jib out. Question is how do you like to rate your sails, what wind / conditions do you run a Genoa and your spinnaker ?? As always stay safe and have fun.
Love your videos Rick. And boy do agree with the others what a beautiful woman Valentina is, not just in looks either. She's elegant, regal in bearing actually, and oh so intelligent. Just being around her must be such a pleasure. I'm jealous... and old, so I can say these things without being a cad. I think. LOL.
Perfect timing, gotta go to work shortly but I have time to watch this...Just have to let the ads run right now. I'm sure this will be another great video Capt., looking fwd to it.
Overwhelmed with emotion, an experience that is climbing up on my bucket list. Will be sailing in Indonesia again on diving trip in 13 months, lets meet up!
Great landing at the dock. Now is everyone thats there ralleying through the Canal? But no matter how good you are they wouldn't let me solo through the Canal and had to rent a capt n crew.. Your gonna love the scenery
As always Capt. Rick, a splendid video. I'm putting together some ideas on how you can market your footage via the stock footage sites. Let me know where to send it.
So close, I'm sitting here sending mental vibes to say screw it lets go through now, haha. I'm so stoked for you guys, the Pacific will be awesome, and worth the wait. Thanks Rick. I guess I don't have to say how much your Video's mean to me,(Icova Rook) but I just did anyway.
those concrete odd shaped blocks (at the port entrance) are called DOLLOSES designed by a fisherman here in Richards Bay South Africa - just for your information. great video be blessed.
I wish I was part of the suzie Q. Love how you caught the emotion of everyone on board. I am glad you caught tiki making happy songs. Hard to believe your less than 100 miles from the pacific. Enjoy
Ive been trying to find that song the english guy sang about the problems sailing and it ended up next time he was going by train. I want to send it to some narrowboat channels to see if they can find any simmilar narrowboat ditties. Firs day in shorts and jandles. Spring in NZ
I see sour face Valentina hasn't changed any ,lol. Cracking vlog an cool sail in and docking . Hope you have a good few days whilst waiting to go out to play Fair winds :-D
Well Rick you did your self good once again, right on course and right into the safe zone, how long are you going to be here before entering the Canal and head toward the Pacific? Enjoy the land while before going into the big pond. ( Pacific Ocean) See you next time.
Why do they call it a boom? Because that's the sound it makes when it hits your head 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Great video as always. What was the ship tracking app you had on your phone? And is it cell feed or from your onboard AIS. Would love to see a video about wifi interface onboard the and what all is tied in to it.
Rick: You made it. It is nice to see you in Ft Sherman. By the way, the howler's will do some strange things if you piss them off, be careful. Some of my soldier's learned the hard way. Don't mess with them. Look forward to more Panama. I couldn't get the 8mm you wanted, sorry, time was the problem. Hope the other things I sent helped. SFC J. Fariello USA Retired
capt’n rick you have a great crew!!! compared to that squawking parrot on the dock- brakes- reminds me a little of kurt russell’s capt’n ron approach 🤣 love your videos, enjoy your art 🤙

Thanks Captain Rick and crew, congrats on another great vid, the sailing was awesome. And landfall at Panama, CONGRATULATIONS.
Great video Rick! Nice to see the warm welcome to port by a bunch of your fellow cruisers!
Oh wow...Panama looks real nice. On my bucket list. Captain Rick...you make docking look so easy.
One of my absolute favorite videos you have made. I didn't want it to end! I was riveted from beginning to end...thankyou!
Nice Capt'n Ron-ing your way in. You're bang on when you tell the woman on the dock, "It's how I make a living."
That was definitely a Captain Ron docking! What would have been better is if he jumped off and ordered a drink.

Silly question : Did Kiki ever get seasick??
Silly, I was thinking the very same thing and I thought I bet he's answered this before so I wasn't going to ask. Thanks for asking too.
No, she doesn't get seasick at all, in fact she perks right up whenever we head to sea.. starts singing and playing, Lol
Valentina is very much the philosopher in addition to her other talents and attributes.

Oh yes... and yes.. :)

noticed not a lot of containers on those bigger ships like in previous years. explains the slowdown in global shipping.
