Great video Mr. Lewis! I am planning on taking my dead LX-100 declination motor out to try and resurrect it soon. Your video has given me hope.👍🏾

I had a similar problem on the RA drive of my Meade LX90. I opened it up with the intention of replacing the spring, but it turned out my spring was fine. The problem was that the old grease became dry and sticky. It gummed up the lower screw (pivot) so much that the spring could not push the worm gear into the drive gear. I cleaned and re-greased the pivot screw, and now I have near zero backlash. Thank you for your video!

Very interesting table you attached to the mount. I did a similar but much smaller to my 8” Meade setting. No problem of shaking by wind?

I've had it in a light breeze without an issue, When it starts to get windy, I generally pack up for the night.

Was you goto accuracy a problem before making this repair, and did it resolve?

The accuracy was severely hampered with the amount of backlash. The repair was a success.

@@WilliamLewismcp thanks! Great video. I made the same repair with your guidance. Skies have not cooperated to tell me if it made a difference on goto accuracy yet. Best. Kelly

That's why I went with the spring since that is a wear item. Adjusting the setscrew would have only buried the problem until later then the problem would have been worse.
