Hey, the man took the time to help others and you should appreciate it. I've seen all of your childish comments and they have no place here on RUclips. Clean up your mouth and if you don't have something nice to say keep it shut! Why don't you make an instructional video and share something useful with everyone?
I know this video is two years old, but I just got a Kaku Voodoo (SUP/MicroSkiff/Yak type thing) and have been looking for anchoring systems. I'm still kind of at a loss for how to rig this board, but this video gave me some ideas! Thanks brother, and stay safe.
Eric. Thanks for going through the process of producing this vid. I am currently in the process of researching buying my first fishing kayak. Im on a budget so its going to be the Pelican Challenger 130T 13 ft Fishing Kayak. Need room for my 8 year old boy, / or the wife
Nice. I really want to install this Anchor Wizard on my Native Watercraft Slayer Propel 10 MAX kayak. Problem is, I mostly fish deep water (by "deep" I mean over 100 feet, typically around 100 and 120 feet deep) for lake trout and whitefish for which I need close to 200 feet (if not more) anchor line out in the water, but this Anchor Wizard does not look like can hold that much line (it's like more suitable for shallow water only due to limitation on amount of anchor line it can hold and reel in/out). I am wondering if it is possible to replace the anchor line that comes with this Anchor Wizard with some thinner (but strong enough) line, and hence can accommodate much longer (say close to 200 feet) line.... Thank you.
Hello what are you putting on surface of kayak to stop the anchor line from cutting into the top of kayak from line going in and out on the front of kayak
I'm not using anything. The rope that comes with the anchor wizard isn't abrasive, and the finish on the Bonafide SS127 is smooth, so there isn't much friction. I no longer own this kayak, but for the 3 years I had it, there was never a wear spot where the rope rubbed on the kayak.
Thanks for a great video. I am looking at a Bonafide SS107. I was also looking into the Anchor Wizard so this video was extremely helpful. I like the idea of using a downrigger ball weight for an anchor. Very nice setup!
@@FloBass Thank you! has the downrigger weight worked well? Does it slide on the bottom being round? I ordered basically the same things you used so im just curious. Thanks!
How’s the anchor been for ya? Any wear in the bow of the kayaks from the line dropping and being brought back up? Looking at similar set up for my SS107
Its been fantastic! No wear at all. Something I've been keeping an eye on. I have to say I don't use it that much, but definitely comes in handy depending on the wind direction and where I want to fish.
I did the same basic set up without using the chute and like it. Any reason why you are not running the anchor line through the proper hole in the wizard housing? Just wondering if it makes for better retrieval.
FloBass thanks for the reply. I didn’t mean the chute. I meant that in the video, your anchor line is coming out of the housing from the wrong hole. Wondering if there is a reason for this?
Thanks for the videos. I am in the process of accessorizing my SS127. Can you please post links to where you procured the items that you installed? Also, does the position of the weight on one side or the other affect the tracking of the yak in any noticeable way?
It worked pretty well. Only use it when I need to anchor deep, or when its windy and use it in union with the power pole to keep the boat pointed where I need it.
@@FloBass that's a brilliant idea for an anchor. Where I fish the Rocky bottom hangs my anchor. Think I will give this a shot. Smooth ball won't hang up!
I fish shallow water. I have a power pole micro on the back with a 12' spike. If the wind blows me out of position with just the power pole I drop the anchor wizard so I can keep the boat pointed in any direction I want.
The down rigging weight I used was 5 pounds. I think if you're in a bare jon boat with just a trolling motor it should keep you in one place. But in current you might drag the anchor.
so all you had to buy from lowes was the metal eye thing? so the wizzard comes with the little black thing you screw on? isnt that the same part that holds the drawer down on the ss127
The anchor wizard comes with a bunch of hardware to either directly screw it down on your boat, or the track hardware. Pretty much the same thing as the drawer hardware.
It actually does. 5lbs is a lot for a yak. But remember, I live in Florida so current isn't that much of an issue. Wind is a big factor, but the ball has done well since I installed this a year and a half ago. That combined with the power pole micro, and I can stay in any boat position I desire.
@@FloBass awesome. Seems more convenient with the ball over the pronged foldable anchor. I bought a yak attack shallow anchor pole and want another anchor for the 15ft range or so
I would of traced around the gear track after you found a location you wanted to mount it and cut the sea deck out in that shape so you could recess the track inside it for a flush mounted look.
are you worried about the line rubbing on the front from repetitive use? i wanna get this also but havent really figured best way to mount i dont want it to rub on yak
The one's I used had a clear zinc oxide coating, which is more than sufficient for the freshwater this yak sees. Just need to keep in mind that if you bang up the hardware it will wear through the zinc coating and eventually rust. Two and a half years later mine are still in great shape.
Cool deal, let's see how it works on the water. As Elvis once sang, " a little less conversation, a little more action." Get out there and let's see these mods in play. ; ) - Chase Wild bro!
I would rather have a trolly set up so i could control the anchor more, front and or back , plus have a quick release with a float on your anchor line. The way you have it you could possibly run into problems.
I've noticed others have used razor blade and traced the track with a blade so it can be screwed directly to the Kayak instead of on top of the pad . Don't know if it Truly Matters m but I'm Sure yours will do just fine . Great Video, love All that your doing with your Mods 👍
I actually did mention in the video I might do exactly that later on. So far I've had no issues. The screws are plenty long enough and haven't budged. They have a good grasp on the body of the yak. At this point it I don't have a reason to cut out the pad aside from making the anchor wizard sit flush to the pad. I still may cut the pad out.
take the sunglasses off you DOUCHE

Eye protection?
thanks for the downriver weight suggestion. I have had a downriver sitting in the basement unused for 25 yr. Great anchor sitting on it.

Hey man thanks for the video, sure gave me ideas on where and how to mount my anchor wizard, much appreciated.
Incredibly helpful video man!
Thanks for the positive comment. Glad it helped!
Add a couple inch section of pool noodle to your anchor line just above the weight. It’ll keep the weight from banging against the bow.

Can you use the anchor and anchor holder in the back of the kayak?
What weight do you use for that Anchor Wizard you installed?

Would that downrigger weight fit up into the anchor chute had you used it?
Just realized this is an OLD video, how well has the downrigger weight worked for you?
No the weight doesn’t fit in the tube. It’s about 1.5 times larger
@@FloBass Thank you! has the downrigger weight worked well? Does it slide on the bottom being round? I ordered basically the same things you used so im just curious. Thanks!
So far so good. I fish shallow and there’s not much current here in South Florida. Just windy at times, but I don’t budge.
@@FloBass Thanks!

I didn't want to run that extra piece on the yak. One less thing to get in the way.

😅 User error

I got it all on Amazon. They're all really easy to find on there.
great video btw
Thanks Nick!
where did you get that weight??? thats by far the BEST idea ive seen
Down rigging weight for deep off shore salt water fishing. They’re common in most Florida tackle shops. I bet you could find them on amazon though.
How did that down-rigger weight work out on the water?
It worked pretty well. Only use it when I need to anchor deep, or when its windy and use it in union with the power pole to keep the boat pointed where I need it.
@@FloBass that's a brilliant idea for an anchor. Where I fish the Rocky bottom hangs my anchor. Think I will give this a shot. Smooth ball won't hang up!
EXACTLY!
New subscriber. Good info. Thanks
You are so wish for this novice kayak dude with Big fish 120 . Mounting bow or stern facing into the current is best for me.
Does the system come with rope?
Yes
Very through thanks
Glad it was helpful!
How do you position your kayak without an anchor trolly. How does it work using it off the front like that?
I fish shallow water. I have a power pole micro on the back with a 12' spike. If the wind blows me out of position with just the power pole I drop the anchor wizard so I can keep the boat pointed in any direction I want.
Thank you for your reply sir.
How do you like your bonafide? I’m getting an rs117 in a few weeks
I love it! They're so stable.
How much does the anchor weigh and is it strong enough to use on a Jon Boat?
The down rigging weight I used was 5 pounds. I think if you're in a bare jon boat with just a trolling motor it should keep you in one place. But in current you might drag the anchor.

Where did you get your thumb screws?
They come with the anchor wizard.

Definitely way more convenient. I have to deal with lost of vegetation and those prongs bring up 80lbs of grass along with it.
👍

Yup, said the same thing in the video. Still holding strong. One day I'll do it.
are you worried about the line rubbing on the front from repetitive use? i wanna get this also but havent really figured best way to mount i dont want it to rub on yak
No I'm not worried about that. The kayak is non abrasive. It would take 10 years of constant use to wear through it.
Ahh ok
Those eye bolts arnt stainless?
The one's I used had a clear zinc oxide coating, which is more than sufficient for the freshwater this yak sees. Just need to keep in mind that if you bang up the hardware it will wear through the zinc coating and eventually rust. Two and a half years later mine are still in great shape.
What's the deal with the gloves?
My day job is Proctology, so I'm always in surplus of gloves.
exactly...
He was preparing for covid a yr before it happened he’s just a time traveler

Everyone has different needs. I do a lot of shallow water fishing, so the power pole in the back, and this in the front is the best setup, for me.

Yo!!!... send me the chute! lol
Great set up, although your eyelets are now a trip Hazard ! ....?
A person that cannot successfully navigate over two small eyelets an inch tall might want to reconsider kayak fishing.
Hi truck
All day every day
You should have used the middle handle holes. Unless there are two of you, it will never be used anyway.
That music makes this video almost unwatchable.
Feel free to contribute closed captions so people can mute the volume
Next time use silicone with your screws to waterproof the track. Otherwise nice video.
Turn OFF the music!!!!!
Between the gloves, the sunglasses, and climbing into your kayak while on saw horses … you can’t be taken seriously
Life's short. Enjoy it! I hope you have the best day ever 😃
Jeez, this was long.
