Be done it both ways. Usually if I have a drill bit I’ll use it. But honestly with plastics I haven’t had an issues. Thanks for taking time to comment.
I’m looking for an electric (motorized) anchor. The entire hull of the kayak operates like a drywell, so I’m going to house the battery and stuff there. Being said, I don’t want to put hole into my kayak. Somewhat new to kayaking, and it just feels wrong drilling into a new kayak. Any suggestions?
Ok the oblong silver inserts that slide in the track.... where in the heck can I get those at? They were the ones you used at the back on the smaller track.
Not to bad. The first few times it’s noticeable but after a while it just spools more evenly. But it really depends on mounts being installed really solid. The reel itself doesn’t have any wobble internally. But I’ve heard of other people saying there’s has play in it. Not mine though. I just transferred it to my Nucanoe Flint.
@@greatamericansurvival Thanks for the response. I was thinking about rigging up the anchor wizard the same way but was worried about it wobbling (cause of it teetering on the mount) while cranking on it. Looks pretty good though. Nice set up and thanks for sharing, communicating, and helping the kayak community.
You've used this for a while. How do you like the AW? I took mine off. I really found it inconvenient. Even borderline dangerous. I'm thinking now to make it a downrigger for fishing deep for salmon.
I really like the winch assemble but not the actual chute. I’ve been using it on my Nucanoe Flint and I just use a few pad eyes and run it out the rear hole. I have been using a retractable clothesline for year and still do on a couple of my other kayaks. What didn’t you like particularly about it.??
I works fine, just depends on your anchor. I recommend a DaBomb the other ones kinda get hung up during the last part where it pulls the chute up on the track
No. The Scotty track was something I added. They cost from 10-20$ depending on how long you need. There’s a video of how to install one in our playlist in the description.
Great installation, looks cool and a really nice thing to have...
Used it again yesterday in the wind and the 8 pounder is a solid anchor.
@@greatamericansurvival Nice...
Good video. I recommend pre-drilling your gear track holes next time. This will help prevent splitting around the holes as time passes.

Thank you for the detailed video. Very good. And to you God Bless 🙏
It’s been a great addition. Got into a new kayak and trying to figure out how to rig it up. If you get one let me know what you think.

I actually got some off Amazon. I also found a male version that I’m using now, works even better. So it’s a silver plate with a bolt sticking up.
@@greatamericansurvival Thanks. I saw those.

Great video! What kind of kayak is that?

@@greatamericansurvival awesome! Thanks for the video and quick reply!
How's the wobble on the reel when you're bringing the anchor up?

Where do I get the tabs for the Scotty track from??
Mine came with it. But I have since changed mine with ones I got off Amazon. Doesn’t have to be actual Scotty tabs.
Did it come with the mounting plate or did you buy them separately?

@@greatamericansurvival okay thank you! I just ordered them for my 12t
