BEST Philippines Native Cooking? RARE River Fish Of Conner, Apayao

- IS THIS THE BEST PHILIPPINES NATIVE COOKING?
In Conner Apayao, there is a rare river fish called AMLAD. The diet of the Isneg people here is mostly this fish, plus fruits and vegetables cooked to perfection.
With local vlogger Kelly Legman Kengay, they cooked up a feast, of course with a traditional blessing for the harvest to begin.
Then I discover bugnay wine at Gummon Farm, before travelling to Balbalasang in Balbalan, Kalinga.
This barangay was built in its current form by American missionaries like Alfred Griffiths in the 1930s and 40s - and lives on today!

In my opinion, KD you're the best vlogger in the Philippines 🇵🇭. You're so daring to visit far-flung and isloted places in the country. Awesome job, KD👌 👏 👍❤❤❤❤❤
Better than 'every man has a story /''
He is definitely the best in the country
Agree, dabest! Empathic and smart packaged under humility
😊Agree the best historian👏👏👏
True! But some of giving award body of Philippines does'nt know him. So sad!
You and Kyle Jennerman bring out the best of the Philippines and the Filipinos. You don't show the superficial life of the city or the beaches. You actually speak the local language unlike the other vloggers who speak a modicum of any of the local languages. I thank you for your authenticity and traveling to the remotest part of the Philippines in which vloggers Filipino or foreign don't even venture to. You inspire to travel in my own birth country who I only gained more knowledge because youtube and the foreign vloggers who consider Philippines home.
You are truly a Kumander! So brave to go to remote villages of IPs in the country and experience their culture and traditions without kaartehan. Salamat KD. God be with you always👍🙂
Wow KD you maybe one of the best foreign blogger that really had explored most part of the Philippines especially the farthest and remote island. You had immerse youself with different traditional cultures especially our indigineous people, the history of their place and their old traditions. Your presentations is the best as a documentary traveller.
That's how we cook our food long time and even now
Gummon Farm is amazing! 11:59 They grow everything and they even have their own wine cellar.
it's amazing to hear that even in country side you will find Filipinos who speak very good English. you can't get lost, you'll always find someone to communicate with🙂😊
For me the best British vlogger in the Philippines kumander daot (commander broken)
Another classic Kumander Daot video. Always beautiful and respectful treatment of the indigenous tribes that you meet and spectacular video of the routes you travel and the surrounding scenery.
"The similarities are different." 3:51🤣🤣🤣
KD, when in doubt, eat. 15:41
Added to our bucket list together with the ube vine 😁
Yesssss you can be veggie here 😁
I was initially & still occasionally surprised when foreigners state Philippine food is “all meat & fatty meat” or fried or dried fish. My relatives fed us here in USA mostly vegetables when I was growing up. When I was young, not easy to obtain fully authentic dishes , couldn’t get the specific veggies here, but my mother, relatives, friends, substituted. As time went on, pinakbet for example, became pretty much authentic. Of course different areas of my country had different access, earlier or more; & veggie intake of use I’m sure varies in the diverse Phil cuisine.
I think it's wonderful that you were welcomed and blessed by these beautiful people even though you were a total stranger to them .
You bring out all the best cultural traditions of our ancestors
This is another eye opener
Love watching your north and cordillera series vlog. Learning a lot. Kudos for showcasing their traditions and cultures. 👏
Kumander D being the ambassador of IPs in the Philippines.
I think you’re the only vlogger i know who able to visit the most hidden the far flung tourist spots here in Northern luzon unknown to the world. Like you visited otherside of isabela which is 99% of people of northern luzon never visited that place. And now Calayan, apayao, kalinga.
amazing !!! You made to explore the whole Philippines 99%,,,good for you,,, Pilipino like us mostly never have done that,,awesome young man,,,,more power,
Ive been going their for the last six years in Apayao atleast once a year and its been a joy to see you feature the best of the Cordillera has to show
I'm totally agree with my co-subs here, your way of vlogging is amazing and thanks much for continued doing it....take care always, enjoyed every place you pass through as we enjoyed every minute of viewing it the way you describe and spoke to our locals....salute to you Anselm...God bless.
Thank you for your time KD, now we miss your big laugh here in Apayao. Till we meet again in the beautiful roads of our beloved Apayao.

Your videos have come a long way since seeing you in Becoming Filipino for the first time. Your content and narration are spot on with these travel docuseries. Your wit, humor, and appreciation for the simple joys in life make the most mundane aspects of daily life worth enjoying and treasuring.
Greater success to you brother!
I loved that bamboo wine cup. That's cool and those wine makers have income for years to come; if you think about it. Genius! and all natural resources and fruits from their yard, they decided not to waste anything and made great local booze with it! Fricken Awesome!
Another classic video from the only kumander Daot of Davao!
I really dig your style, just raw and honest, no frills and overhyping. Love the narration with bits of history and comedic banter in between. That guy with 10pcs of English is funny 😂 looking forward to the next one! Amping Kumander!
Not finished watching the vlog yet but just want to say: present.
Wow, Amazing! You're so Great KD.

You’re the best tour guide Kumander! Thank you for showing us the wonderful sights.
You are immersing our authentic culture, customs, and traditions. Tasting and see our history and maybe you can write a book of becoming Pilipino. Kudos KD.
You have my full respect Kumander!
Thank you KD for featuring Conner, Apayao here. I was reminiscing the past when I traveled to this place 45 years ago. I miss the place and the cultural communities out there. Padayon !
Oh wow, bet it was a different place back then! But some things live on...
@@KumanderDaot You are right, the place wasn't fully developed yet. And it was the height of NPA and military encounters also.

Your storytelling.. Superb! 👌 amping kanunay, KD!
Ingat palagi sa biyahe Kumander Daot.God bless you always..
Nice vlog, KD.❤️❤️
I enjoy your vlogs and your narration is very good. You're narration is getting much much better since you first began. Now you sound like a narrator for Discovery Channel or the Blue Planet.😊 your vlogs are very educational, informative and not just catering to tourists. You're educating me even though i was born over there and my roots is of Ilocano but grew up in Mindanao then moved to the USA when i was a kid. I used to speak Ilongo, Cebuano, Ilocano and Tagalog. today, i can understand but not speak it. Maybe i should retire back to Philippines, maybe, Malaybalay or Valencia Bukidnon or Cagayan de Oro or Davao😅
Very beautiful narration and concept
KD for president😊
Great video KD, you went to far far places like Apayao. Thank you for sharing with us.

Ay O-O. Sige Sige. Hi Kumander Daot.
Miss that fish, BUNOG in our place as a kid then . Sadly they are on extinct because of mining contamination😢
Driving into unknown territory and almost getting lost is a specialty of mine. And any coyote driver, opps, I mean camote driver doing the same, is definitely on the same team as me. Ride on Kemosabe :)
Thanks!
Thanks so much!
Good dance, KD eating exotic food you are awesome man.
It's been a while since saying hello. Quite the travel channel now and great adventures to remote places. I think ur but might get sore on the bike, you know throw a sheep skin on the seat and its most comfybthing you can do. If you remember, im in Bicol Albay building a mansion on the beach.
Near Legazpi if you ever need acstop over its good one.
Hope you're well! The seat has been pretty comfortable so far but I might try the sheepskin too...
My favorite bugnay sarap nyan na may asin

i look at these places it seems like the americans have never left..similar thing to sorsogon the american influence is strong..you pass by cities feels like americans never left..they still have the americanesque vibe..small town american vibe.
Bugnay is a midicine..for kidney.as a vellage people..and we cannot afford ti go hospital.bugnay is the best.
My first time seeing a fireplace on a philippine house..must be cold on that area....
Balbalasang is 1000 metres above sea level... The morning especially was cold!
KD has traveled more than 10k km of concrete roads.... a third of which is filled with dried corn or palay. 😆
Mais mais mais
I wonder how many km of dirt roads, too! 😆
