Seiko sumo “blumo” sbdc033
Seiko monster sbdc067
Seiko mm200 sbdc061
Seiko 62mas sbdc053
Seiko turtle stp773
Seiko skx009
All great options at different price points.
Great video.
As a Seikopath, I highly enjoyed it.
Keep up the good work.
Of my 5 watches l would have to say my turtle is my favourite. It’s not the most expensive watch of the 5 but for some reason it’s number 1!!
How is the alignment
Same. It's just a classic design.
Love my SBDC053 - that dial and that bezel are just amazing 👍🏻
I wear a 150m quartz diver from 1978. The first generation and the movement is a lot better than quartz movements today. It was the high tech most accurate watch they made. I have worn it on the outside of clothing at -40c and in Australia at 51c and beat the hell out of it. All I have done is change the batteries about every 5 years and changed the rubber strap and had it serviced twice. The bugger is indestructible.
Sounds like a great piece
still got it these days mate..the are incredible watches those early ones hey
I just got my first Turtle and I absolutely LOVE it! I already had the SKX and the Monster, but I was really sleeping on the Turtle. It always looked so much bigger in pictures and on video, but in real life it wears perfectly. All 3 are mainstays of the collection.
How is the alignment
Me too i just got the srp 779 with the pepsi bezel fits perfectly
Thanks for the comparison show Rob! It was nice to see them all side by side.
Tried out the Monster, Turtle, and the quartz Tuna and ended up selling each one. Finally ended up with the Kinetic Tuna (Yeti) and I love it. I can't resist the 6 month power reserve, sapphire crystal, and true GMT hand. This watch is huge, but I see it as a functional yet good looking tool watch. Thanks for exploring all these different Seiko divers. I'm sure there's a certain model out there for everyone.
How is the QC
Thank you!! I was one of those asking. lol. Much appreciated! it’s very difficult to choose between Seikos you can’t try on, as you said.
I just got a 053 and man what a great watch. Had no idea the MM200 wore smaller then it otherwise I’d have picked it instead, but now I’ll just have both!
Thanks so much Rob!! I had trouble figuring out all the different styles of Seiko divers & couldn't decide on which one to buy, but this video helped so much with my decision! I decided to go for the SBDC053, and it's the perfect one for me :D Much gratitude from South Korea
I've the SKX007, and turtle, excellent watches, and just got my hands on the SBDC053, love the blue/green insert and the overall classic look. Looking for a Gen 1 Sumo next...
Spb079 blue bazel changing color gorgeous
I have Seiko Nemo divers. Love it.
I’ve owned the multiple Seiko divers, and out of all of them, the only two left are the Turtle and the SKX. I absolutely hate the movement in the SKX and the QC is terrible, but it fits my wrist so well and it has a lot of memories behind it. The Turtle gets my vote for wearability, value, iconic design, and color wave choices. The rest are too bulky for my wrist, or too expensive for what you’re getting. I liked the Solar Tuna, but getting two defective ones in a row spoiled the experience for me.
I would say for solar quartz, get Citizen divers. They make some very good professional dive watch like their 1000M and Ecozilla models. Get Seiko for automatic dive watches
How is the turtle’s qc
But doesn’t citizen have weaker lume
Cool video - noticed you kind of started at what for many folks would be mid range, skipping over the SKX.TURTLE.SAMURAI. 1. I completely agree with that, I reckon the Sumo/SBDC ranges and where seiko really hits its stride and 2. Would have like to hear you talk about why you thought to start there.
Seiko divers make up a fairly big chunk of my overall collection. Love 'em! I have the SBDB011 Spring Drive Marine Master Pro 600m, the SBDC055 PADI-MAS, a green 3rd gen Sumo SBDC081, an SBDY031 STO turtle, the ubiquitous SKX, of course (a 007j and a 011j) and my friendly postal carrier just today delivered my SBDC043 Transocean Zero Halliburton. They're really tough to beat for overall value in a dive watch imo 😊
Hi Jonathan
Thinking of getting a seiko as my very first watch. Is the Seiko Prospex good? 43MM It's a pepsi case..
Is that still classed as a SKX?
Would love to hear your thoughts..
@@harper07harper the Seiko SKX was introduced before the creation of the Prospex family of professionally-spec'ed tool watches. A great diver, to be sure (I have two of them myself), but not a Prospex piece. Do you happen to know the specific reference number to the piece you're considering?
@@jonathanstoddard2081 Thanks for your reply Jonathan. The ref is SNE591P1
@@harper07harper that particular piece is one of the solar options. It isn't a 'regular' quartz that will require a battery change every 3 years or so but rather gets charged by exposure to light. Because it's a "set it and forget it" type of creature I think it's a great way to venture into the world of Seiko dive watches. It's an attractive watch if you're into the Pepsi colorway, it's rugged so you can use it confidently without feeling the need to baby it while you're out and about living your life, and being quartz it should definitely keep time accurately. 😊 If you like the looks of it and find it at a price you're agreeable with? I'd say grab it! It is on the larger side of things, however, so if the opportunity exists to try it on before dedicating funds to the purchase I would recommend that as well. No matter how appealing something may be on paper if it doesn't fit well to your particular wrist dimensions it won't matter how pretty it is.
This is such a great video Rob...It is so good to see all these together. I know for me I thought the Monster was much bigger until you sent me mine. I am sure this will help some people make up their minds. Thank you :)
The monster is like an ugly Goldilocks
@@RandomRobReviews I love it...it is the perfect size :)
Love the "Blumo". Might put that one on "the list".
Very informative hope to buy Seiko Turtle
The Turtles and the Baby Tuna are my favorites. My SKX is cool but the Turtle is in my mind more iconic and has great colour/edition options.
As far as suggestions go what I would like to see, and I think this is something you have an eye for, is spotting the watches we will all be kicking ourselves for not buying five years from now. An example: my father wanted to get me a Model 94 22 Winchester rifle for Christmas when I was a kid. They were around 90 bucks and we found one for $79. We should have bought every one on the shelf because they go for $1K a pop now. I'm sure there are watches like that if you know your stuff. Not to flip them but for that sense of satisfaction like with the 2nd Gen Seiko Monster if you knew enough to put one in the collection when they were $180. Of course no one has a crystal ball but that would be a RUclips "Influencer" angle I don't see anyone doing.
I’d rock any of these all day!! Still here shouting MONSTER 🙌👊
Monster is the best watch ever
That blumo is awesome.
Rob you're killing me with that sbdc067 🤯
It’s good
@@RandomRobReviews Hahaha instigator
The SPB051J is the best mid range Seiko money can buy.
The 053 seems like a bargain right now for those of us who don't wear watches on bracelets. I'd might even put it on a nice brown leather strap.
Love videos like this, helps out. Thank you for the content
Love that sbdc053, that blue looks great.
My dream watch is a Rolex my budget has put me on a seiko diet and I absolutely love my two seikos. I think they are great watches.
Don’t but Rolex. I know this sounds crazy, but unless you get a Rolex watch before the 70s/Vietnam war it’s worthless. The Rolex’s now have a very bad movement, (sometimes up to gaining 60 seconds today) it’s a brand name like Omega. That’s the entire problem with the watch community. You pay for the brand. It’s crazy. But, buy one from the 70s and you’re golden, it will increase value dramatically.
I like them all. They all work for me.
Also true
Don't buy any of them. I started with a SKX009 about 10 years ago. Now I have 9 Seikos, an Orient, a Coke Steinhart, a SubC and a smaller retirement fund. I can't stop!!!
Kriss Nowell haha, same here Buddy. Its madness! My watch box still got 2 empty slots. But kind of burned out with watches right now
Me too!😫
Same with me g shocks, siekos now
I began with a Rolex Sub. Then thr Rolex Daytona. Couldn't find an all stainless anywhere. So I bought the steel and gold Daytona. Then an Omega Speedmaster Professional. Then thr Speedmaster Michael Schumacher Pro. Then, the regular Professional. Then the Rolex GMT II. Then the Omega Planet Ocean. What retirement fund? What the heck, I have a retirement pension plan.
The curved sapphire on the sbdc053 made me choose it over the mm200.
Cool ending, with the bright Seiko lume!
Thanks for a good comparison on all of these
I own the Blumo but have tried on a 061 and a 053 which are more expensive than the Sumo and I still say the Sumo is the best diver watch Seiko makes other than the Marine Master.
Guess I am going to have to break down and finally get into the Seiko brand, have been partial to Citizen..like that deep blue hue!
@@zman8340 Um, he's coming from Citizen. I think he'll be alright. 🙄
Floridian: I think there's a Seiko out there for you.
My "62PADIMAS" and "62DARTHMAS" are my favorite everyday watches. I use my "MM200's" as my dressier divers, and I when I want my watch to really stand out, I wear my SBDC047 Transocean.😁
I think I might like Seiko's. 🤔
Great models
Love the sbdc053 but it's way too pricey now. I have a load of SSC solars as well as SKX and I love them all. Kind of fell out of love with automatics as they're like having a dog. You've got to keep them on your wrist. Solars are hassle free with a stopwatch complication too!
I only have tree proper watches
Love my blumo. Love my Tuna 300. Sold my skx's and turtle both good watches and didnt lose any money on those. Also sold an orange monster (sorry Rob)
How was the alignment
@@oscarosullivan4513 acceptable
@@mrbacchus6127 Hope it is getting better
Just wanted to confirm your thoughts about the MM200 : it's indeed in a class above. I have the Great Blue Hole edition and it's the only watch I have ever received comments about and I was not expecting that because I am used to the fact that most people don't know and don't care about watches outside our little circle... (and I have higher end pieces that totally fly under the radar)
That's a terrible nickname lol
@@mrbacchus6127 well it's the name of a real place in Belize and if you look at pictures of it I think it's a cool name for a diver watch and it fits the dial of this special edition very well. My 2 cents.
The mm200 is a model I could see owning and wearing. But I am too caught up in this G-SHOCK game.
SRPD87 & 2 other 5's on sale @ Kohl's for $150 + $45 Kohl's cash back till the 29th.......fyi.....happy shopping !... lol 😁
I'd like the SBDC061 with a band, not the bracelet.
I wore a Speedmaster 7A28 7040 through late high school and college. It's packed away somewhere...needs a new bracelet and battery and cleaning.
TIP: the Turtle wears smaller if you changed to a straight end link bracelet. (the included one and strapcode fitted end link options dont articulate and hug like a straight end. I got used to the slight gap right away )
My favourite diver is the Phoibos Eagle Ray GMT :) I'd go for the Sumo since I like big watches.
Ditto the Seiko homages.
Seiko movements inside.
If you don't need it to say Seiko.
Save more, and just as good.
Aftermarket dials available that say Seiko
Help...what's the one with the rubber strap...I want to buy that one...model ## plz
Seiko SKX is the best for me!
Really what more do we need? The skx is a great choice
Just recently got into watches coming from knives because I'm a masochist and hate money its Nick Shabazzs fault but anyways I got an srp777 "turtle" for my first seiko diver and love it
Great video! This is so helpful when looking at which one to buy. Would it kill Seiko to make a version of one of these at 40 mm?
Seikos lug to lugs are super short though, you might be surprised at what fits
I'm still torn between the current blue Monster or green Sumo. Can't decide.
Great timing, I've been eyeing up the Sumo all day as a gift from the Mrs for a significant upcoming birthday, really taken by the SZSC004. Any recommendations on where to pick up online, I'm UK based. I've been wearing a 1st Gen Orange Monster since they were first released and figure is time for a change.
Still a big fan of the STO turtle.
STO? How is the QC
@@oscarosullivan4513 mine has been good. It sits well in my collection including Tudor, Omega, and Oris.
@@A_Dude_And_His_Watch78 I have heard alignment is a problem
@@oscarosullivan4513 it's luck of the draw. I bought mine new on the rubber strap in 2018 and have had no issues since. I actually have a review of mine on my channel.
@@A_Dude_And_His_Watch78 If I was to get one I would buy it in person
Of the Seiko watches I have tried on I prefer the Samari.
Rob I can get the 53, 62mas blue for 567. However the blue version sbdc065 is 1,020... not sure what to do. Love the dial on 65 but it’s nearly double
Great video, thank you Random Rob
The turtle is a little too big on my 6.5in wrist. Just looks a little fat even if the lug to lug is lower
So 2 years on the 051/053 is still seikos best mid tier watch , if you have a large wrist.smaller wrists go for the 143 models. If flush go for the sla models.
I can buy an sbdc033 for $250 right now but I just dont see the point when I already own an sbdc063. Its just too good a price that I am tempted lol
Love all these pieces but their way too big for my 6.5” wrist. I could pull off an SKX007/009 but got the 013 just because it was smaller. Wish Seiko would make a nice 6R15 diver with sapphire crystal, a good bracelet and diashield. Everything is 43-45mm. Need a 7” wrist to wear any of these +$500 Seiko Divers. Mini-Turtle is the only diver they currently make that is good for small wrists.
Lug to lug is 51mm is it not? I usually try to stick to 47mm or a maximum of 49mm if there is some good curvature to the lugs.
I have the second one do you have a link to the specs?
Rob, what monster is that in the vid? Blue coral or save the ocean?
Just buy all
Another great video..!
For the small(or medium)-wristed there are still plenty of SKX013s out there!
Haha i remember those days
What replaced the 007?
The right dressy diver is SBDC065 and the best diver tool is Tuna
Could of shown the samurai dude
Bobby - Do you reckon the SPB145 or the SPB185 blows away the SBDC061? Despite the price difference.
Is that SBP o53 for sale??
Please, help. Do I get the New Sumo or a Marine Master 200?
Can't decide! The sumo cost less then the MM200 in the shop I saw them at. It's important cause this is going to be my very first mechanical watch.
If you go sumo you still have more to experience within the Seiko brand when it comes to finishing. On the other wrist, the MM200 is just about as good as Seiko gets. There are a few that could be argued as better which I guess still leaves you a little room before you get to a grand seiko but not as many if youre coming from a sumo. Whatever you do, try any of them on if you can. In your hand, at least until you have some experience under your belt, will tell you most of what you need to know. Buy whatever you buy for yourself. If you see it and cant get it out of your head and then hold it and feel the magic you'll know. Dosent matter if its 100 or 5000 dollars. I've tried on 20000 dollar watch's that sucked and worn out 500 dollar watches becasue they were awesome. Good luck.
@@J.Bradley. Thank you for your reply, I actually have tried both of them on and I do have to say I'm leaning towards the new green sumo as it feels and looks at home on my wrist and MM200 looks a little smaller plus 6r35 movement vs 6r15......so I think I'm getting more in Sumo. I have dreamed about that watch, lol.
Once again, really appreciate your opinion.🙏
@@deparoo You got it. Sounds like you know what to do Enjoy.
I would go with the sbdc063 I absolutely love that blue bezel. Also the lug to lug is 50.3 compared to the sumos 52 ish. However its all up to you just my opinion.
@@J.Bradley. I bought the Sumo, it's been 8 months since I started wearing it and loving the experience of owning a automatic.
Choose one that aligns properly? 😛
Good luck lol
Instead dont be so OCD
@@mrbacchus6127 OCD people would start running and screaming when they see Seiko's misalignment.
I've come to find that, when it comes to dive watch history, nobody matches Seiko. Maybe Blancpain for making the first 'modern' dive watch? That would be a biggie, even if it's the only thing they did, LOL! Question: Who invented the monobloc case?
where is the SBBN031 Tuna?
Good video. THANKS.
I have an older Sekio airsea and I will be damned if I can find anyone to get a new band,,, you have any ideas?

What would the best Seiko diver be for around £1k?
Hi rob any thoughts on the spb077? I’ve been thinking of getting one
I need a blue coral monster in my collection!
That and the Jade are couple of gems
What do you think about watches with DiaShield vs no DiaShield?
Diashield does nothing for me. Personally don’t think it’s the best stuff out either, Traska used better stuff then it.
Seiko 5kx best diver ever handz down
Great Blue Hole - end of story :)
Simple, the one that says Orient on the dial ;)
Haha. Not a bad choice either
Bleh orient
Where did you get the G-Shock robots? I can't find them online and I want one. Please help!
eBay
Idk if this is the best place to post this but, I'm looking for my first Seiko and I know @Random Rob you mentioned a 5KX but I also want something that's rugged because I'm confined to a wheelchair and want to avoid scratches, dings, etc. I had a Swatch automatic and bumped it on the wall and got paint on it and a nice scratch. So if any of you fanatics like me cann help, I'd appreciate it!
Spb051, 43mm of pure joy. Truely seikos best mid tier modern dive watch. If you have small wrists go for the spb143 instead.
I'm going to have to check that out!

I can’t seem to find the blumo on the seiko site? Are they discontinued?
Yes they are the last gen sumo. There is a new generation out now
Where’d you find the seiko patches?

No Transocean? I reckon that's probably one of the best looking Seiko diver.
Genuinely think it would've been an immense success if they didn't go with integrated lug/strap combo.
+3:39 "I don't have a good, fully assembled Turtle here" ... because all the Turtles were KILLED for SKX builds! 😜

Spb077 is minimum 880$ and going up to 1500$ what 500$ you talking about? Not everyone lives in USA to get watches that low priced..
You can't tell anything, use a close up.
Maybe a Baby Ice Monster for people on a budget. 150 dollars.
SUMO
I've always wanted to try the MM200, but I don't see the benefit. I know the movement is different, but if you put a similar movement and a sapphire crystal in the SKX, you're money ahead. Just my opinion
There's more to it than that - and pictures/videos don't convey it. The build quality of the MM200 blows the SKX out of the water (I think Rob stated similar this in a previous video, and even shows here that these are more "premium" than an SKX or Turtle). Bracelet is superb (far better than the Sumo), it has better case finishing (really sharp reflections, and the detailing on the watch is just better IMHO.
The diashield and whatnot is a bonus to some. (I like it on my SPB077).
@@reshmaj2002 I may look into one. I just remember how unimpressed I was with my Tudor Black Bay 41. After 20+ years of collecting and flipping, I think I may just be getting burnt out as well.
