Always a pleasure to watch one of your videos. So well researched. Classy. Well done. I'd never considered a Willard but you may have me rethinking my position. $1100 is a lot for a Seiko dive watch especially with the beautiful Zodiac Skin coming in around the same price on a rubber strap. But.... you've got me looking now. Well done. Really enjoyed this one.
I've always admired Seiko watches, the divers in particular. I'm now a collector. Wouldn't wear anything else. Absolutely love the design elements, the history and how they make me feel when I see and wear them. The blue limited edition Willard looks stunning...
TGV, your commitment to your audience is very compelling. You do a great job of educating us on nuances of brands , and it is like watching horological knowledge being told in a very warming way. I have been collecting for 50 years, starting with a Seiko Quartz sports 100 that I received at 13, now I am 70, and I have everything from a Rainbow Daytona to a Casio FW91 and the Bowmar brain calculator, you have taught me to appreciate everything in this hobby. Please keep up the good work, and Watchbox made a HUGE MISTAKE in parting company with you
I’ve had the green Willard on the oem black rubber strap for nearly a year, absolutely love it. Every time I put it on it hits me. I have come to love this watch more and more as the months have passed, I know it’s a keeper! 🙂🤘🏻
I did wait for a video like this for so long! Awesome video Tristano! Enjoying it while wearing my SRP773j1 turtle. Feeling happy! 3 fantastic watches from the greatest brand of all time. Whichever you choose, wear it in good health! Kind regards, Mister Seiko, Netherlands
I bought the olive green Willard mid july. It's my favourite and I just miss it after 2 days wearing other watches and so happy to see him back on my wrist. Should I consult a doctor?
Such a perfect video with profound information on the topic yet again. Putting the dial finish in context with japanese culture and its relation to nature, the infamous mr mountbatten, "you shouldn't drink and bake" out of nowhere... it is a informative joy watching your videos! If you are still looking for the Santos that Hugo, well, "borrowed", I think I found it at 11:45 ;)
Am glad the Watchbox era is over. I blanked out from your channel in that time, now it is back to the format we subscribed to originally and am loving it.
Thank you as always for another great video TGV. Your productions are a highlight of my day and i am always looking forward to your next video! Wish you a great Wednesday.
Awesome video, the only channel that gives in depth review of many range of watches and not just the hyped watches. Love Seiko, the King of ULE. Unlimited Limited Edition.
Thanks for the vid TGV. After lusting for the gray SPB143 since its release, I finally decided to pull the trigger on the SPB297. These dials are amazing! Cheers from Canada!
I bought a Blue 62 MAS with the black bezel about 6 months ago. It gets about 50% wrist time, there are now watches I don't wear in my collection since it arrived. It's perfection, comfortably, looks great, iconic, subtle and hugely affordable. It's also a strap hound
I’m so happy to see a new video today! And even better I love Seiko Divers not the typical Sub Homage you see everywhere else. Can’t wait to see what you pick
WOW GREAT VID. I love the baby blue on the 1968. How could you go wrong with any of these watches. I’ll stay with my $300-$600 Seiko divers, a must unfortunately when I like to keep my collection between 50 and 70 watches., 60% of them Seiko. Thanks TGV SEIKO IS KING !!!
Got a few seikos in my collection and I don't think anyone can argue that for the money there quality is hard to beat especially in the prospects and padi line. Great as always TGV look forward to the next one 👍 👏 🇬🇧

Great posting TGV! Just bought palissey double as "sample" - so significant saving (can bearly see any imperfections) great recommendation - I love this bag. Please keep them coming!
I have so much love for a good Seiko diver! Out of the new Willards I’m most drawn to the ice white SPB301 with the blue bezel and matching pop of blue on the seconds hand. Great video as per usual TGV!
Thank you Alastair, well observed on that pop of blue on the seconds hand, stunning ice dial, if only the been was white too, OMG, I would buy it now, ice ice baby willard 😂😂. Best regards, TGV

I love my Willards so much so that I purchased three, all for very different reasons. I purchased the olive green one solely for the pop of that green in the light. I then purchased the SPB237J1 (the Willard) which I'm sure is everything you are looking for, textured grey dial and comes with two fabulous natos. My favourite though is the Seiko mystic lagoon SPB288j1 only available at the Seiko Boutique and has a blue textured dial with a rose gold bezel and minute hand. This watch shouldn't work but for me it looks fantastic and a refreshing change to a dress watch. Great show TGV keep up the sterling work. 👏
Another amazing video! Love these divers! My first luxury watch purchase is coming up in a few months around my birthday (most likely will be a Grand Seiko) and your videos always rejuvenate my love for watches. Cheers!
👏👏👏👏 Happy birthday and congrats in advance, ousting choice, may it bring you years of enjoyment. Thank you for the kind words of support. Best regards, TGV
Thanks Tristano for the interesting Seiko Divers watch video. The blue dial Captain Willard is stunning with the iconic design aesthetic and would be my choice. As always thanks so much for the great content.
Dear TGV!! Huge fan, highlight of my day when I see a new video, specially when it’s more Seiko! ❤ Please try the SPB317 Slim Turtle, mine is on the way and I can’t help but feel it everything you’re looking for!
Got the SPB297 as a gift to keep from my father, to stay with me from now on, with immense meaning and significance. It is a very nice watch, the dial is marvellous and it is a strap monster too. Definitely an everyday keeper!
I've been buying Seikos since 1972. My first two were automatics. First one was stolen. My third, and several more after that, we're quartz chronographs. Last year I purchased the Seiko Prospex Solar Diver's Chrograph. Love it! Thank you for producing such fun and informative videos! I learn a lot from them!
Thanks for the great video TGV! I actually did a full Seiko build of the SPB207, I sourced all the OEM parts and built it with my mod tools. It was a fun experience and I love the green dial… I think I probably have too many divers now though😂. Have a great rest of the week!
The new Seiko mm200 reduced save the ocean (1968) is one of my favorite watches. And I own many from hundreds to thousands. It fits my 7in wrist perfectly and btw is pretty much exactly the same measurement as the new Breitling 42mm superocean 2022. Great watch.
@@CydeWeys I own the Seiko SPB255 and the SPB299 and I have no issue saying I’ll buy another mm200 if one comes out looking just as nice or better. They change enough little details where they look like slightly different watches. I also have the Willard from this most recent Save the ocean line and that might actually be my favorite Seiko right now.
Perfecting timing for this video, I pulled the trigger on the SPB297 2 days ago. As you say the bracelets are terrible. The Seiko boutique here in Knightsbridge hooked me up with a blue silicon strap and a black seichu nato strap to fix my dislike of the bracelet 👌🏽
I contacted my AD because they had a used 55th Anniversary Edition Willard at a great price. I checked on availability and pulled the trigger. Then they contacted me to tell me it was sold. But the store manager had a new one he’d let me have it for the same price since they should have known before I purchased originally. Basically, I waited for years to get this watch…and I got an amazing deal. Waiting for it to arrive….pretty excited. My most comfortable watch ever is my Turtle. But I always loved the look of the Willard. Finally, the waiting paid off.
I mostly agree with your point that you have to experience a watch to really get a feel for it, the only problem is that I’d end up buying everything I try😂
You got the holy trinity of Seiko divers for the review. I own a SPB239 (gilt 62mas) and picked up the SPB299 last month. The 62mas on a leather strap is my go to daily watch and the most comfortable out of the two. The MM200 is getting into my rotation, is very comfortable on Seikos's rubber strap. Waiting to pick up a Willard SPB151 in the future.
Really great to see the comparison and in depth knowledge in a compelling and entertaining format with humor, grace, weirdness and what's with the ladies? all to conclude the Willard will be the one. You know you want the Green one. I got mine new and won't part with it even though it is -20spd. Although some new newly released models have been introduced with cushion cases they are no Willard.
Sold all my Seiko's recently, fell out of love for them, got a new titanium Helm Khuraburi inbound in white, double domed sapphire, ceramic bezel all for under £400 with extra straps, still with a Seiko movement but does all i need it to and 300m water resistantance, no brainer.
One must have patience if one is after a Helm! I recently received my fourth, the Miyako, and it's every bit as well made as the earlier three models. Exceptional value indeed.
My third watch I ever bought, a real watch, was a Seiko SKX173 brand new. I had always dreamed about having one. I saved every penny for a long time, I had a family. One night watching late night TV, I was scanning channels and a guy was selling watches...I was intrigued at some of the models he had. He had a small wheel he would spin and there would be different discounts. Then, 3 new watches came up. The second caller was me, and I got a 15 percent discount as the wheel turned to my delight on my beloved Seiko Diver. I still have it. I love it so much. I tried it on when it arrived...Then I put it in the box, and I take it out and admire it now and then. I will always have it. 10/12/22.
It’s all down to personal preference, but I agree on the bracelets not really matching all the work they put into the watch. I bought a used SPB143, replaced the bracelet with the Uncle Seiko tapered oyster style bracelet and then drilled out a couple of the smallest links to fit a knockoff unbranded glide lock clasp. It made it lighter and gave it a more refined look with the taper.
Wonderful as always! I agree the Willard is the Cat Pajamas of the Three but yes the other the textured Dials are more interesting, I think a Dark Ruby Red would be a hit! Keep the Content Coming!
Hey TGV! It's Tony. The guy from the comments in the last video. I tried replying to your comment but don't think it posted. Thanks so much, TGV. I will always remember those words of yours from the last video. It's crazy how I, sat in Warwick, can communicate with you all the way in America, share my story, and, in a very small way, stay in your memory or give back for everything you've done. I was trying to go for a transitional 1963 806. Set the bar high with that, I know! Will take years but I'm ready to wait. Do you know anything about that ref? This video was just amazing, as always. The SPB299 is just doing something to me. In my opinion, I love grand Seiko but it's got a lot of attention now. GS knows it's turning heads. I think some real sleeper hits like this with OG Seiko. Thanks so much TGV!
I love the SPB297! I myself own the SPB213, the 140th anniversary edition with the sunburst silver dial and I wear it quite often. These 1965 divers have perfect proportions and look so much more expensive on wrist than even their ~$1000 dollar price would imply. My only complaint is the bracelet they come on, but that was quickly remedied by putting mine on an Uncle Seiko Z199.
I know just what you mean by when it comes to the Willard’s case shape. It might be out of the question but have you considered any of the Tuna models? There was a Marine Master 1000m, that used the GS movement (8L-something). I don’t think it would fit my wrist either but love the rose gold color.
I've just bought two Seikos today. I got a 1980 7548-7000 quartz diver and a original SKX009 in mint condition with its original box and papers. That was a great find. 🤗
Great video as always 👍👍 you probably know, but there is one new watch from seiko, it is not so well known, but it is the slim turtle, spb317. It has the potential to be the ideal seiko diver. Hope i will try it on soon
I recently purchased the SLA055 and love it. I like the Ever Bright steel alloy, the 4 hz movement, the beautiful dual, the lum and the light blue on the bezel. I like the date at 4:30 which allows a full lumed index at 3:00. The fit works on my small wrist. I purchased an Uncle Seiko strap in a small size to avoid a long tail. The 4 hz movement means the second hand sweeps smoothly. Really enjoying this diver.
Haha you were true your word and picked the SPB237!! You should also check out the spb265 ice diver willard. The teal textured dial may have been just what you were looking for!
The bezel insert on the MM200 is TiCN coated stainless steel and lacquered on top for the glossy finish. Glossy insert has been a signature on the MM200.
I finally got the blue Willard. It is a celebration model and comes with both the bracelet and a blue rubber strap. The latter makes the watch really comfortable on my small wrist. I usually wear smaller watches but it is something reassuring and supportive about this big robust fellow with soft lines. Thank you for an always entertaining channel.
Another great Seiko vid! I traveled out to Japan this past month to watch the F1 Japanese Grand Prix and sightsee with my girlfriend, and being a huge Seiko fan I picked up both a 62MAS SBDC141 (SPB239) and King Seiko SDKS009 at an AD. I had been eyeing the 62MAS since they were released over a year ago and decided to buy the JDM model of the SPB239 in Japan as a special memory of the trip. The King Seiko took me by surprise when I tried it on and decided I had to have one, movement aside I love how detailed it is and the 37mm size fits so well, and the bracelet is actually really comfortable and in my opinion looks great 😁
Hmm. I think maybe the best new iteration of the Seiko diver is not a Seiko at all, but rather the Islander ISL-01 or -02. It's an SKX007 with the same dimensions, Seiko NH36 movement, sapphire crystal, and a very nice solid-lug (and milled clasp) bracelet for $299.
Great video, I picked up the 62 reissue SPB147 gen 1 couple of years ago with the brown dial and rubber strap not looked back, with its 72 hrs and case finishing it gives the black bay a run for its money. I don't think the new seikos are overpriced for what they are, providing everything lines up! Which mine does
I still have no doubts that Seiko is one of the best options for a diver watch. ISO certified diver, great heritage, and further, even the movement is no reason to be underestimated. Accurate, and very durable. Bracelet is what Seiko need to get better but considering the price, still one of the best!
Check out Seiko SLA 051 , even if you arent interested in buying one , seeing you present the watch with such history would be amazing to watch. Your history lessons on watches are best on youtube and this just seems like the perfect watch . kind regards
I purchased the SPB297 last week, and I agree on the dive extension - it's at best functional, but really cheap feeling. Would much prefer Seiko to bring some kind of on the fly adjustment, but I guess perhaps in 5 years it'll arrive for them 😅...the textured dials are a beaut, so happy to see them taking a slither of Grand Seiko and bringing it to mere mortal levels. Great video summary, thanks TGV.
Thank you TGV for such a great explanation of Seiko diver watches! I found all of the watches in this video quite interesting! Stay healthy and well as always! P.S-very funny intro! (Nicholas L) ❤🦖🌊⛴⏱
This is why I love my Seiko Prospex SRPE33 Save The Ocean Manta Ray, purchased from someone who had it for 2 years from new. It was in fantastic condition with box and papers for £300 🤯😍🥳
Thanks, TGV, for another interesting, amusing, and informative segment. I have been turned onto Seiko divers for some time. One question: what would you think of me if I preferred a metal bracelet? Rick from Hackensack.
I have the 297. It won over the Oris sixty-five diver. The dial has that Grand Seiko-ish glimmer and is mesmerizing. Getting the 297 was also in response to finding out I’ll be going to Antarctica in December. So, a picture with it against the ice will be taken 🤓 I do geek out on special editions/releases. My first automatic ever was the Seiko Sports 5 50th anniversary edition. Like you stated, the bracelet is not the best. Thinking of getting a jubilee to give even more of a vintage look.
thanks for this superb video , i love seiko ....but ,the service center in Germany is a small to medium-sized catastrophe and if there is something worse about the watch, shipping to Japan is too much for me, sometimes the rolex is back home quicker . so I only have a few left ,that I don't want to part with. like the SPB299 the most , the dial with the wave's , just beautiful .
I think the right Captain Willard for you will be the SLA033, because is has a Grand Seiko caliber. On the other side it is very expensive (€ 4.350) and big (47 cm) 😒!
For once I'm not late a day glad to be part of the early gang good to see Hugo broadening his horizons on watches lol how can one not love the dials on these watches good video once again.
OG - Original Gentry! I love it! … and the fact that you have a Willard on the short list as a grail, well TGV, you certainly are an evolutionary being
TGV great review as always. I got the jdm spb299 as soon as it was on the market. Seiko still has some qc issue my bezel alignment is perfect but my hour hand was off by a tic. I will get it fixed and not ocd about it. I absolutely love it! The beauty of it is how it curves around the wrist and how it plays with the light from matte to striking silvery metallic bb blue! I put it on a uncle seiko strap and is super comfortable. I definitely recommend it! Thanks again for time and quality of your reviews. All the best TGV. Ci vediamo dopo!
I didn't really appreciate how good of a brand seiko was until I started watching the urban gentry, tgv was the reason I have a huge collection , his the original watch review channel for me better than everyone on here , his a credit to the brand, everything his recommended on his first channels are a fortune to buy now if you can get hold of them
Love my Willard. I have the green one. Tickled the green dial itch in my collection. It’s definitely an unusual colour. Looking forward to see what you go for.
Great video as always! Seiko very rarely do flat, matte, simple dials. I really wish they would do so i.e. alongside the sunburst and more exotic finishes they offer, like those shown here. I think that would go a long way to pull more people into the brand. Seiko watches are often so polarizing, but I feel they needn't be.
It's amazing what companies have been using for diver extensions. Zelos has a really nice one they just release where all you do is push down and slide the extension out.
Is Citizen any good? TGV got nothing on Citizen and I’m starting to think it’s not, even though im enjoying it myself, I still wonder 🤔 Im wearing a Citizen Eco Drive BM6980-08E
Love Citizen, I have owned many and made many videos on them and they have been included in dozens more. I will return to them hopefully next year. Thank you, Best regards, TGV
Just recently got a automatic baby tuna ( urban safari as SEIKO calls it ). Absolutely love the watch and very accurate. Want another one with different dial color
Great video. I have one of those new reimagined 62mas in the gray (SPB143). It's been my favourite watch and I almost don't wear anything else since getting it. I would check out one of those new prospex "slim turtles' that just released. They have a very vintagey vibe and the wearing dimensions should work great on smaller wrists.
Just wanted to say I'm newly subscribed to your channel even though I've been binge watching it for quite some time. I really enjoy it TGV and I find the reviews are especially good. You seem to have quite the thing for Seiko and I'm beginning to see why. I'll never be able to afford a Rolex, so I shopped around affordable divers' watches, homages etc. (with which I have no problem) for something with a Pepsi bezel. I ended up going for the Seiko 5 SRPD53K1. I can see why you like Seiko so much. It arrived today. The watch is splendid. No homage but rather a unique design on its own. The midnight blue dial with the sunburst effect is amazing with the blue and red bezel. I think I'm going to get hooked on this watch very quickly. Keep up the good work on the RUclips channel, and please pass my regards to Hugo M. Cheers!
Hi TGV, I enjoy all you videos. Thanks for the great videos. Have you checkd out the SPB265 Willard with great dial. It might be the Willard that you are looking for. I have also decided to go for the Willard and I found the best dial in SPB265 but I can't get it at where I am because it's only available in USA.
Saw the black dial 151 on offer, so I got it. I thought it would be too much to have another black diver. I'm glad I got it as I feel it looks right in black. Spurred me on to get the original, putting them together confirmed my choice in buying the plain old black version. Personal choice though.
Thank you for continuing to create an unique atmosphere and quality content! OG here since ~2016, the time of SKXs, G-Shocks, Omegas, Rolexes, Bond connections, watch battles, model planes and model cars reviews and little big Earnie! I would recommend the Seiko SRP Prospex Turtle, perhaps the PADI, or the plain black SRP-777, still the most comfortable watch I have worn to this date, despite the size, and my wrists are similarly sized to yours. I know it has been reviewed to death, but the Gentry demands a TGV spin on it! I know you reviewed the baby Turtle, but I think the SRP Prospex Turtle wears better than the baby Turtle. You could consider one of its rare harder-to-find reincarnations, such as the Blue Lagoon. Wishing you the best of health, to you, your family and loved ones, onwards and upwards!
Thank you for continuing to pump out quality content TGV. Keeps me sane when the world races past. Wear your pieces in good health and keep chuffing!
Thank you Satya, I very much appreciate that. Hang in there my friend. O&U!
Best regards,
TGV

Another wonderful video, thank you! I also love and want a Willard. When I do pull the trigger, I believe it will be the "Green".
So true, so damn true. Thank you Julian,
Best regards,
TGV
Yep, if only my wallet matched my watch wishes!
Great video! I just bought the SPB299 thanks to your video!!! I LOVE IT!!!
I like that T-Rex in the beginning gives the Show character. Very nice it was shown trying to buy a seiko, lovely.
I think of the ‘modern’ Seiko divers the 63 mas is my favourite, though I’d be interested to check out the new spb313/315/317.
Great video as always, TGV. Learning a lot from you. I have a few Seikos my favorite is the King Turtle 😊.
Thank you for the great video.Thank you for your detailed and delicate explanation of the Seiko Diver clock.I have a desire to make one.^^
Now that's a real quality diver inside and out.
@@denisdes7 for 4 and a half grand they better be quality thats omega territory
Haha you were true your word and picked the SPB237!!
You should also check out the spb265 ice diver willard. The teal textured dial may have been just what you were looking for!
The bezel insert on the MM200 is TiCN coated stainless steel and lacquered on top for the glossy finish. Glossy insert has been a signature on the MM200.
Seiko shuffle still alive and well in this house. Great video as usual Tristano 🍻 cheers!
Very fair and thorough review of those Seiko divers. I'm with you, I love the cushion case and the way it embraces the crown.
The Glacier Marinemaster 200 is the best looking dive watch I’ve seen in a long time. It has surpassed my 16600 SD as my favorite diver.
Really like that Blue Northport that Mark released this year, with the ripple dial.
Agreed. I bought Marc's ISL-03, his version of the 009. An excellent choice indeed.👍
They are amazing!
Islander rules! My wife has a 64, 38mm, and I've got a 56, the white dial Monster. Hoping to get another Islander next year.
Yes.
I would rather spend my money on an Islander than a Seiko that has for most parts lower quality and is way over priced.
Which mine does
They're not overpriced at all.
I still have no doubts that Seiko is one of the best options for a diver watch.
ISO certified diver, great heritage, and further, even the movement is no reason to be underestimated. Accurate, and very durable.
Bracelet is what Seiko need to get better
but considering the price, still one of the best!
Got that blue Willard. Love it
Check out Seiko SLA 051 , even if you arent interested in buying one , seeing you present the watch with such history would be amazing to watch.
@legod u can always put a mm300 diver clasp on it..I know .u shouldn't have to at these prices but it is an option
@@flow2tech not a bad idea, thanks!
It was in fantastic condition with box and papers for £300 🤯😍🥳
Yes! I have been hoping to hear your take on the MM200 and 62 MAS, spot on!
Love your work TGV. You fill hearts.
I didn't really appreciate how good of a brand seiko was until I started watching the urban gentry, tgv was the reason I have a huge collection , his the original watch review channel for me better than everyone on here , his a credit to the brand, everything his recommended on his first channels are a fortune to buy now if you can get hold of them
Recently pulled the trigger on a SPB083 "Great Blue Hole". The shades of blue are just mesmerizing
I am not a big Seiko guy. However, TGV never ceases to make content interesting and presents it with outstanding zeal. Great job.
I never was a Seiko guy, until I started buying a couple, then more…now I’ve bought dozens 😅
Have the same spb153 green williard. It is my favorite watch out of mywatch collection. Great video 👍
Love my Willard. I have the green one. Tickled the green dial itch in my collection. It’s definitely an unusual colour. Looking forward to see what you go for.
I have a green Captain Willard and it gets more wrist time than all my Rolexes. I just love that watch!! Another great video TGV!!
TGV got nothing on Citizen and I’m starting to think it’s not, even though im enjoying it myself, I still wonder 🤔
Im wearing a Citizen Eco Drive BM6980-08E
Love Citizen, I have owned many and made many videos on them and they have been included in dozens more. I will return to them hopefully next year.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Just recently got a automatic baby tuna ( urban safari as SEIKO calls it ). Absolutely love the watch and very accurate. Want another one with different dial color
Great video. I have one of those new reimagined 62mas in the gray (SPB143). It's been my favourite watch and I almost don't wear anything else since getting it. I would check out one of those new prospex "slim turtles' that just released. They have a very vintagey vibe and the wearing dimensions should work great on smaller wrists.
@Rydock definitely getting a slim turtle..most likely that new gilt version
Great review... You should look more closely at the Willard SPB 237... For my taste it's the best till now!
I have the SPB213 white face, blue bezel limited edition and its fantastic. Currently, my favorite watch in collection.
I just acquired a SPB053 (62MAS re-interpretation from back in late 2017) and I'm over the moon. You should give it another look.
