Seiko needs to drop the limited edition and make this a permanent model in their catalogue. It is a beloved piece, and it competes with Swiss divers. How many 'limited edition' 62MAS watches are they going to come out with? Seems like every other year one gets released.
But it works, Omega Speedmasters, Seamasters, Blancpain 50 Fathoms, Breitling Navitimers, AP Royal Oaks…it’s all the same. Tons of remakes, reinterpretations, reissues…so as a profit generating company which main purpose is to, as taboo as that may sound make money then I don’t think they are in a wrong path tbh.

If you’re debating on the BB54 or the SJE093, then the Seiko isn’t for you. Get the BB54 and be happy. This one isn’t for the person that’s debating, this is for the person that has to have it.
The best solution is to buy a few of the best watches available, instead of owning 30 watches like I do. I don't know why I ended up with so many when I wear the same one almost 100% of the time.
I admire Seiko as a brand. I will say, however, that issuing so many variations with so many model numbers is what waters down the brand. Very challenging for consumers to value the brand at any specific range. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing 🤔. Beautiful watch nevertheless.

@SoCalWatchReviews thanks for the reply 🙏 I'm the same as you love this watch it looks amazing and love the size, but it's very overpriced in particular it doesn't even come with a bracelet. I'm hoping something midsize like this in the 143 price range
Love this watch. Easily take this over the BB54. Waiting for Seiko to give this 6L37 treatment to the 6159 (MarineMaster is based off of), Slim Willard, and Willard with the date at 3 and the lil lume plot.
Really liking this one, just wish Seiko would have included two long- and two short-strap pieces. Some of these other 62MAS reissues included two straps, for this price to have included two short pieces would have made it perfect for the 6.5" wrist crowd.
Been saying the same thing regarding the 6L and 8L on the same level for a month now on Seiko’s sevice site. Thank you for putting it in the video finally…
Great review of this watch. Really tempted on this one, but I already have the sla043. Kind of think a smaller black dial version. We will see. I have no problem with the 6L movement. It is a high quality one that came from Seiko Credor. I have a sje073. Really special Seiko presage. Should be tagged as a GS . It runs at plus 2 a day. My sla 043, 039 both have 19mm width. Plenty of choices if you look. The 043 is on a stapco ladder bracelet. Perfect for me. Matches the brushed ever brilliant steel well. Vintage look. The sla039 is on a dassari rubber strap. Bright orange! Matches the attitude of the watch. They both look good on my dark blue sail cloth band. More refined look. Thanks again for the review.

It's on par with my new Kermit, explorer 2 Ref,226570 polar and Blancpain fifty phantoms 38mm. The Seiko sje093 is the most faithful and I say if you love Seiko and the 62Mas then spend the money.

Seiko should reorganize themselves and make the branding and pricing easier for the consumers 1) all watches below 1k dollars are Seiko 2) all watches above 1k but below 3k should be in King Seiko category 3) all watches above 3k dollars should be in Grand Seiko category All watches that are reissued as limited editions and anniversary should rather be made as a Grand Seiko tribute, that way the pricing is justified, like the king Seiko SJE095 which looks amazing For 3500 dollars i'd rather have a Longines Master Collection moonphase chronograph OR a Seiko Turtle Padi and 3 Casios (F91W World Timer Calculator) plus spare change
Ludicrous price. That's $4700CAD here in Canada! That's entry level Grand Seiko money. That's Longines & Tudor money. I love Seiko (own 8 of them), but I'll never pay more than $500 for one. And if I do it better be a Grand Seiko.
Good looking watch, great proportions. But when dozens of brands propose COSC certified regulation for less than USD 2,000, it's very hard to justify the price of that one, irrespective of how Seiko internally grades its movements. Admittedly, this was way worse with the 8L35 based reeditions sold considerably higher, but two wrongs don't make a right.
People complain about the lack of variety and now too much variety. If there’s something you like, buy it, if you don’t, then pick something else. Get over yourself 🙄
The bb54's bracelet and design is leagues above the shitbox. Plus its a chronometer. What's the accuracy in this +10/-25? Plus a 40 hr power reserve? It's not 2007 anymore
Unless you live in Japan, it's still better to go with the Tudor for warranty and service. No one is going to notice the hand's edges from the naked eye. Regardless, they're relatively the same value watch.
That Tudor Black Bay .925 is the sexiest piece ever!!!! NATO strap and exhibition case back! Hard to beat.....and what is currently on my wrist as it is my favorite!!!
Thank you for this great video! Glad I waited since 2017. Am looking forward to the SJE093 this Thursday and will wait out for a blue colorway BB54 and the price to tank...look at BB58 these days.
I just want to point out facts in that the 6L37 is not equal to 8L35-55, 8L uses MEMS. Technology in the escarpment which is a big deal and covers two important aspects which are a lighter but stronger alloy and second the finish and polishing of the teeth on the escape wheel are among the tightest tolerances in the industry. In addition the plates and bridges are thick with internal cut outs to improve shock and prevent shifting of gears, wheel, levers etc. Let's not forget VPH as well. Please look up Guardian of the deep by Seiko which explains in detail about the 8L robustness. Yes the 6L37 had a few changes over the 6L35 for sport activities but no MEMS Technology in the escarpment and anchor and the grade of Spron alloy in the mainspring barrel etc. I own several SLA037, 43, 39, two SJE093 on different straps and I tell ya they different calibers. I Love both calibers especially the 6L37 compact thin design but it ain't making it into a 7-8K diver for a reason. Cheers.
Oh yes, the cliche 'I aM ConCeRNEd. tHey'Re WatEriNG DoWn TeH BrAnDDD!' This is such a superficial thing to say and really bares no relation to reality - especially when the same dude has a limited edition they're moaning about
I'm not a fan of Seiko, and I don't have a Seiko watch.I love the design and size of this watch. The history and story of this watch are also attractive. It's a watch that transcends the brand image and makes Seiko become a fan.Thank you for the good reviews!
So,.is this still the only seiko you have?? 😂 Or did you break and get something else? Thanks for the vid, i think ill try to find one. Im late to the game
I am sure this is not the last for you, nor for many others. Keeper hitting the buckle and creates scratches is a dislike; seriously? You wear the watches or keep them in cloth!
At that price you might as well spend a bit more and get a pelagos. As long as people continue to pay these high prices they will remain high. Plus it has issues mating with other straps nope. Nope 🤦♂️
Thanks for watching! I have a pamphlet that Seiko provided our store that shows the SJE093 and says “Material: Stainless Steel with Super Hard Coating” Don’t know if it’s Diashield
Correction. THAT sec hand style is not called lollipop, it is more like S’mores Stick. No for me cuz clearly Seiko strategy is to banking on hardcore collectors, they know those suckers would bite. I am not one of those suckers and refuse to be. Got family to feed, it’s a divorce or become a hardcore Seiko sucker.
1965 is Waaaaaaay too high for a limited edition. Its just a tactic to double the value on a $1500 usd watch. My $500 Sarb017 has better accuracy than this watch. What happened to seiko….?
This is a watch for the people who need to have it. This is for the 62MAS/Seiko fans only. I’m saying this cause I don’t see real value paying 3500$ for this watch. First of all, a 6L movement at 3500$? That’s ridiculous, I really expected the 8L to be used at this price point. I would definitely for a BB PRO paying an extra 500$. You get an in house COSC certified movement, with an amazing bracelet. Seiko can be really disappointing these days.
HOLD ON, hold on. 3,5k and that bezel IS NOT ceramic and has a worse alignment than my 240 SKX013? Send it back. At that price, entry level luxury, every basic feature should be flawless. If it's not, then it doesn't even belong in the 1000$ category, let alone 3500$.
I'm not paying $3500 for a watch that only gets an accuracy guarantee of -10 to +15. Any watch at that price should at least be equivalent to COSC Chronometer accuracy.
I've had now a couple of Tudors (new Ranger and Pelagos 39) and now have an SLA043 Seiko. To be honest, Tudors have questionable quality control, and many of the dials are pretty sterile looking and meh. More tool-ish I get it, but the Seiko is a much better looking watch. Quality seems to be very good as well. One of their biggest issues is that they offer watches at so many price points it is hard for people to take them seriously in the $3-6k range. That, and the fact that they can't get the bezels aligned right and they don't regulate the movement. But I'd take the Seiko over either of the Tudors I've had. And to be fair, I would take my Omega SMP Nekton as a dive watch over any of them by a decent margin. BUT I really like the Seiko, and would absolutely consider the SJE for it's traditional size / slimmer case.
Value retention should not apply for something you wear and you can break in one fall. I'm not sure why are we applying Rolex rules to other brands. Rolex is a hype brand and an anomaly when it comes to value retention. Those are more for Patek, JLC and any brand with some crazy complications. A Daytona is another machine made watch nothing out of the ordinary. Same with a Seiko, GS etc. we buy watches because of history, heritage and we like the watch. Putting that mentality of value retention just helps scalpers and the grey market inflate prices for no reason.
❤the Seico Captain Welard Seico dive watch I got mine in the late 80’s yet is never been serviced and still working great Now I’m retiring it because I bought the Jack Mason HydroTimer dive watch 300m/1000ft hope The Jack Mason dive watch will work as good quality of the Captain Willard’s Seico dive watch thanks have a great day everyone
38mm ok but 47.7 lug to lug makes it look waaaay bigger. hey made a smaller watch but made it look bigger? for what? what is the point of it? so, nay for me.
I must be missing something, why would you spend 4k for a luxury watch that is rated at +- 10 seconds? Tudor, Longines, Mido, etc more accurate same or better price. Crazy.
Danged if I can see why anyone would buy any of these $3,500 to $5,000 pieces in preference to the competition with better movements, finishing, design, and resale value.
The lume dot at 3 really annoys me, it not having the same shape as EVERYTHING else, just seems lazy at that point 😢 Also, it looks way too much like a bin part watch imo. Also just not intresting enough for the money. Also got the same metal keeper on my 450 euro prospex and I trash canned it as it was terrible. Seeing it on a watch at this price a intresting choice...
The work around for the lume at the 3 o’clock marker may be somewhat clever for regulations, I think it looks hideous. Especially in the dark, that looks like a after thought which I wouldn’t want on a $3500 watch. Also an applied logo and a steel bezel feel cheap for the money. Atleast $3500 gets you a signed crown which my €1250 “steelmaster” didn’t get!
Hey could you do a review on Carl F Bucherer heritage bicompax in black? Since Rolex bought bucherer wonder if their watches are going up down or generating more interest. Thank you.
is it just me or are the hands on this SJE093 not as well finished as the ever-brilliant versions? the edges seem to have some rough finishes on the edges
Its a nice watch, but its too small for bigger wrist sizes. I own the sla043 , and its better than my tudor black bay , in fit and finish. The tudor has a more accurate movement and a bracelet though. I think you have to see them in person to realise why they cost so much. Tudor are decent watches , but i got a san martin for under £200 , that is nearly as good as my tudor in regards to fit and finish.

Charging $3500 for this is absolutely criminal
It’s the imperfections … no bracelet, 19mm lugs, price, etc, … that attract me to the watch.
Do you think they will ever make a No Date version?
I don’t foresee a no date version anytime soon since each recreation / re-interpretation has a date window, but we can dream!
Seiko is actually the best watch brand in the world because they have all prices and tons of styles.
Should have been titled the price we pay for history
Which is ironical, considering that Seiko's entire DNA is based on affordability and value for money.

3) all watches above 3k dollars should be in Grand Seiko category
All watches that are reissued as limited editions and anniversary should rather be made as a Grand Seiko tribute, that way the pricing is justified, like the king Seiko SJE095 which looks amazing
For 3500 dollars i'd rather have a Longines Master Collection moonphase chronograph OR a Seiko Turtle Padi and 3 Casios (F91W World Timer Calculator) plus spare change
Ludicrous price. That's $4700CAD here in Canada! That's entry level Grand Seiko money. That's Longines & Tudor money. I love Seiko (own 8 of them), but I'll never pay more than $500 for one. And if I do it better be a Grand Seiko.
The biggest issue with Seiko is the size of their watches, when they come out with a release with the right dimensions as this one, it’s a no brainer.
I don't think it's actually possible for a non Swiss brand to be COSC tested. Idk though
Best video review for this watch! Good job. I think this watch is for the diehard seiko fans.
People complain about the lack of variety and now too much variety. If there’s something you like, buy it, if you don’t, then pick something else. Get over yourself 🙄
There’s a drastic difference between this and a BB54, mostly in fit and finish. You don’t even get polished hand edges on the Tudor.
Great, you just stick with your poor man’s wannabe Rolex then .
@@glennhaley7404 if Tudor is a poor man's watch what is seiko?
@@jchong416 Not trying to be anything else
That Tudor Black Bay .925 is the sexiest piece ever!!!! NATO strap and exhibition case back! Hard to beat.....and what is currently on my wrist as it is my favorite!!!
As a 19 year old, it's very helpful to have your channel, givese me good info for my Passion. Thank you 👍🏻.
Thank you for this great video! Glad I waited since 2017. Am looking forward to the SJE093 this Thursday and will wait out for a blue colorway BB54 and the price to tank...look at BB58 these days.
how does the width of the bezel on the SPB143 compare to this watch
Minute Mon: "It's $3,500."
1955 Doc Brown: "1.21 GIGAWATTS? 1.21 GIGAWATTS.......GREAT SCOTT!"
9:56 he is not here to tell you buy or not buy a watch unlike the watchCrunch guy.
Yeah, let's crucify the watchcrunch guy. How dare he recommend anything. You snowflakes might be offended.
Are you out of your mind?! Instant YES
haha just waiting for them to release the spb version for the more 'affordable' iteration.
The aligned bezels watches will be a collector’s item as 90% are misaligned
Why would I get a Seiko at $3,500.00 when I could get a Brietling for around the same price?
a NO Date version of this watch would be a hell of a watch 😮
Like a Oris diver65 Glow😊
Ill get a BB54 for that money.
I’m a seiko fan but lately I’ve had my eyes on orient and citizen
This over any tudor anyday. Get the one that looks better to you. Looks is the single most important thing
While it looks like a dream, I wouldn't pay over 2k for a 6L37
Why do you think enthusiasts are interested in your budget constraints?
No one cares lol
@@ChromeMan04 👍
So,.is this still the only seiko you have?? 😂 Or did you break and get something else?
Thanks for the vid, i think ill try to find one. Im late to the game
With the voice editing you literally talk without taking ANY breath. And when you start noticing, its mega annoying. Just a tip.
Beautiful watch. Makes me miss my SLA017.

I am sure this is not the last for you, nor for many others. Keeper hitting the buckle and creates scratches is a dislike; seriously? You wear the watches or keep them in cloth!
Algorithm brought me here. Love the co-op with a collector in the review! 👍🏼
Where did you buy the dirty white tropic strap?
It’s from The Tropic Strap company 20mm
@@MinuteMon cool thanks for the reply!
At that price you might as well spend a bit more and get a pelagos. As long as people continue to pay these high prices they will remain high. Plus it has issues mating with other straps nope. Nope 🤦♂️
Wow I can't believe I nerded out on the 62mas for almost 20 minutes ❤
Concerned for what. Seiko is going to be just fine. 1881
Does it leave crown marks on your wrist/arm? Looks like that crown sits way close to the skin.
I don't have any issue with the crown digging into my wrist, I usually wear it snug with a little looseness
I only ask because my speedtimer has a similar looking crown size and position wise. As in towards the base of the watch. My speedtimer leaves marks.
Great video! You mentioned that this watch has some kind of super hard coating on it. Do you know that for a fact? Diashield?
Thanks for watching! I have a pamphlet that Seiko provided our store that shows the SJE093 and says “Material: Stainless Steel with Super Hard Coating”
Don’t know if it’s Diashield
More of this style of content!
Will do!
This one or the Longines Hydroconquest 39mm??!
This one 😉
With that price i could get a better Swiss watch. Still loves Seiko but not the price i'm gonna pay for a normal Seiko(Grand Seiko are exceptional)
handsome watch
Waste of a nice movement in a generic looking watch
I love it. Only that it is a rip off at that price point. I’m out.
38mm ok but 47.7 lug to lug makes it look waaaay bigger. hey made a smaller watch but made it look bigger? for what? what is the point of it? so, nay for me.
You’ve got to see the watch in person.
I've always liked the 62MAS. However, I had to try the San Martin SN007gb, with a grey/greenish dial. Damn. ... I really like it.
Hey, what about the bezel is it scratch resistant?
The lume dot at 3 really annoys me, it not having the same shape as EVERYTHING else, just seems lazy at that point 😢
Also, it looks way too much like a bin part watch imo.
How I wished the GS will have a same design as this….
If it is permanent collection, it’s there to compete with Tudor & rolex and put them to shame.
Imagine sje093 in everbrilliant steel
Great review! Cheers 🍻 Note, another RUclipsr stated that the indices are printed, not applied. Strange. They look applied to me.
I heard that too but I think he meant the minute & hour indices are printed as the hour markers with Lume are clearly raised
@@MinuteMon, I just got ‘the call’ from my AD. My SJE093 is in. I hope I like it!
Hey could you do a review on Carl F Bucherer heritage bicompax in black? Since Rolex bought bucherer wonder if their watches are going up down or generating more interest. Thank you.
I always regret not getting this one new when it was released
Yes, Seiko marketing strategy of re-issuing limited editions is de-valuing its value & reputation. When will it stop???
is it just me or are the hands on this SJE093 not as well finished as the ever-brilliant versions? the edges seem to have some rough finishes on the edges
Who's buying a $3500 SEIKO? Unless thats GRAND Seiko it doesnt make sense.
I would get one if it didn’t have the date function. Dive watches should not have date function or any complications.
